Mobile network on Non-Sense Roms - HTC Sensation

Hello, I'm having a problem with the mobile network on aosp , cm9/10, miui, and aokp ROMs. The Hspda comes and goes as soon as I try to use the phone. It's really starting to annoy me because the only roms I can use without this problem are sense roms.

GPS config Inspire with ICS

I have an Inspire and I've been using the Blackout ICS Rom and my only problem is with GPS taking forever to lock...I am using GPS status to reset and download assist data but I'm still getting a lock on any satellites, I'm using the most recent AT&T radio... Should I be using a different radio? or do I need to do something else?
Thank you in advance for your help

I have luck by toggling mobile data off and then back on. I use GPS test by chartcross. Usually it will start by weather widget not getting location. I then open GPS test and it won't lock. After toggling mobile network off and then back on it locks and then weather widget gets location again. They are working on a fix for these issues.

I'm not familiar with that particular rom, but you may need to flash Inspiremod to get the gps to work right.

I knew it sounded like it was on the right track but I figured that the Mods for the Inspire that are out there for ICS are only for AOSP/AOKP not the new Sense ROMs that people are actually using as daily drivers now that everything pretty much works

Radio version?

Hi, can anyone tell me what radio version I should have, android 4.0.4, unlocked not rooted etc. Only I'm still having signal problems and mobile internet still erratic switching between H and 3g.

I'd check your APN settings. As for the guy above you, it sounds like he is complaining about the normal stock radio performance. For some reason, HTC seems to think it's OK for the signal indicator to bounce around like crazy...Try making a backup and flashing another ROM like CM10 and you'll probably see it go away.

Ahh dude the whole reason I'm in this dilemma is because I wanted the ota update and wanted to stick to stock roms for the time being. Isn't there a way to flash a radio on stock roms? Btw this happened because I super cid my phone.

I'm on 1.06es I think, my signal isn't desperately bad, but a phone like this should be better. Other people report the new ota update solving the H / 3g switching thing, but not for me.

strange problem i have never been able to find a solution for

so, i have actually made a lot of reading and i have never been able to find anything. I may be looking on the wrong direction, but here i go trying to describe my problem.
after actually months of trying to replicate the problem, i have done it. It only happens when i get a notification, actually, it only happens when i get a sms notification. the notification bar just freezes, and becomes transparent? i know it sounds weird, but it does, if i do the gesture to pull i down the screen becomes unresponsive because the notification bar is down, and if i do the gesture to pull it back up it, the screen works again.
also when it happens, like i say, the screen works, but if i try to reply to the message, everything i write does not get written down.
and after a while, the notification bar either disappears, or just stays there frozen, and the wallpaper changes to whatever default wallpaper the rom comes with.
it has happened with almost every jelly bean rom i have ever tried.
here is my phone as it stands now:
rom: jelybam_pyramid_jb-paokp10-3.3.0-20121229
kernel: 3.0.53-g099c572 [email protected] #1
if anything else you would like to know, let me know. in advance, thank you for any help :good:

Weak WiFi on jb ROMs?

I have been trying out a few ROMs and it seems the WiFi on the jelly bean ROMs are weak compared to ICS roms. Has anyone had this problem.

I've used Bruce's CM10 builds and recently switching to the official Cyanogen CM10 builds. Last week I tried out Nikez's JB 4.2 AOSP build. I had great wifi on all of them. Like satndin gout in my front yard with the wifi router in the basement in the back of my house good. So it's not the ROM itself. (Though it could be a combination of the ROM and some app or mod you're running)
You might have a weak connection on the wifi anteneas inside the back case of the phone. Take the back cover off, look at the gold pins on the phone, and make sure they are all raised up. You can take a tiny screw driver and pry them up a little more to make sure they are getting good contact with the back cover (which is the antenea). Juts be VERY careful when doing it.
It might not help, but it's a cheap thing to try.
I have tried that too but its strange I can switch to a ICS ROM and I will have full bars in my whole house but with the jelly bean ROMs its one or two bars unless I'm right next to it.

I've got some WiFi tweaks in my kernel that might help. My kernel, Sultan, has the WiFi voltage increased to the max and it has some WiFi signal parameters altered at the kernel level so WiFi networks with weaker signal can be seen. If my kernel doesn't really help then I can build a kernel just for you that forces the system to use the BCM4329 WiFi driver instead of the BCMDHD WiFi driver; that may help. BTW, if you download my kernel then make sure you download the one for Jelly Bean and not the one for Sense.
I tried your kernel and my WiFi is still weak compared to ICS but does seem a little stronger
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
This is a confirmed issue, its not kernel related, because even with the kernels with improved wifi voltage (which is more voltage than stock), its still a weaker signal than on an ICS based rom.

Is it an issue with proprietary drivers/code or a issue with JB itself?
I tried two different ones but both the same still weak WiFi ... I am new to HTC so I might not be wiping something right but anyways what kind of recovery should I use and what should be wiped every time I flash a new ROM

most users who are S-ON(like me) 4ext has a feature which calls smartflash
before flashing any rom you have to enable smartflash before flashing(if you are S-ON)
and then flash the rom
for S-ON devices it is one way to boot a rom after installation
if you are S-OFF you don't need that feature
So if I'm s off then ext4 isn't really a must have for me

4ext was really buggy for me. 1 of the many bugs I experienced with 4ext was that sometimes after flashing a kernel the phone would get stuck at the HTC screen and I would have t use fastboot to flash a boot.img file in order to get my phone to boot; flashing another kernel in the recovery didn't work and it would still be stuck at the HTC screen -_- If you have S-OFF then use TWRP. Just my 2 cents.

Navigation crashing on jellybean roms

Is this something that can't be fixed? I've tried different roms, complete wipes, everything.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Its actually a problem with jelly bean.
I've looked for a fix but couldn't find any we just have to wait until Google fixes the app
There is a quick fix all you have to do is click on the compass on the top left hand corner, it will change the navigation from 3D to 2D but locked facing north
Its not the best solution but at least it stops from freezing all the time
I hope I helped

It seems that the problem is only on some phones. People claim it us a Google issue but I doubt it. The reports I have seen seem to be on Sense. However I have been unable to determine for sure whether it is only Sense custom ROMs or also stock.
It seems to be a google issue for many phones on 4.1.1. It is a GS issue that they have to fix in the app itself.

I'm so happy for you, but your experience is worthless considering the number who have reported problems.
No need to be rude. Most of the issues happen during the set up of the Rom. You have to allow apps access. Just because he or myself have never experienced this issue doesn't mean we are open for attack.

No, his post is not worthless. I too have never had this issue across a few different JB ROMs. So yes, its a known issue, but its not "just because its JB" like some have been claiming. There is something else going on besides just being on JB (and "waiting" for Google to fix it), and that was kitten's point.

Waze seems to do the trick, but if you trying different ROMs, be sure to delete the waze folder on your SDCard in between installs or it will FC constantly for some reason.
I'm having the same issue with Google Nav not working. Currently using CarbonROM 1.7 4.2.2 AOSP. Phone is S-OFF on 2.14 hboot. Can't wait until someone figures this one out.
Someone reported that their nav works now on a sense 5 Rom 4.1.2 Magio Rom. Maybe for the affected users(including myself) this is behind us now.

Maybe all the Sense 5 ports work with Navigation?
