Most STABLE rom out ?? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've had nothing but simple problems like not being notified when my supervisor calls, I'm on cm10. I need this phone to be RELIABLE for a simple thing like receiving calls. The only reason I'm finding this out is cause I'm checking Google voice and I'm fortunate for that app. Do I need to unroot ? Can someone just name the most STABLE rom of them all ? Thanks guys.

Most stable = stock ROM lol
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium

Yeah - I'd say stock is your best bet for stability... maybe even roll back to 2.3?

Back in the day when I used to run Gingerbread, the rock-solid stability my daily usage required paired with fast performance was provided by Oxygen rom 2.3 (that is the version I used, 2.3 does NOT refer to gingerbread!) and Trinity Kernel either the undervolted underclocked version for better battery life or the 1.1 GHz overclocked version.
Nowadays, I am rolling with JellyBean rom Rasbeanjelly which unfortunately is not under development anymore and is difficult to get a hold of, but my kernel is Trinity (always!) ALPHA 12.
Try these and maybe you will find stability and performance like I did. Those findings are results of lengthy testing conducted by me with various setups.
Good luck!

Stock ROM it is ! Thanks guys would I need to unroot for this ? Or just find the stock ROM link somewhere here ?

Get the factory images from Google and return to stock.

BTW not receiving calls is most likely Google Voice. Happened to me in the past so I disabled it.

CyanogenMod 7.2 is not even stable.
My favorite is bugless beast from peter Alfonzo but not sure if he has one for the nexus s. I have a nexus s4g and it was awesome when I used it.

Fastest and most stable ROM for the G2X?

I got this phone for my mom and wanted to ask what is the most fastest, simple and the most stable ROM for this phone?
PS - I know that this has been asked a lot but just wanted to know what's the latest and greatest
Simplest and most stable is stock.
I've recently gone to CM7.2 and so far I'm pretty happy with it as far as speed and stability

You can get CM from their website cyanogenmod.com
I'm on my phone so I don't have the exact link available.
And I've never used MIUI, sorry

i think that CM7 Last Nigthly works really well to me, on stock kernel and V6 superchager... Go launcher LG UI 3.0 Themed smooth and 16 hrs of normal use...
For speed use CM7 or MIUI, they are both really speedy and pretty stable for this phone, but I feel like MIUI is much faster.
For stability use Stock 2.3.4, except after a while it may begin to slow down but a simple reboot should fix it.
Hope this helped

Most stable rom??

My dad's G2X is starting to drop calls now.. I forget what ROM i put on his phone but I think it was tsugi or something.. it was a while agoo.. anyways im gonna try to put on a new ROM and see if it solves the issue.. I need a smooth stable rom, no fancy stuff. hes an old man and doesnt care for that.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Cm or something based of cm7, it will be hard to match the stability

Any recommendation? I don't have time to try different ROMs on his phone.

Just do official cm7 then, basic but you should have no worries

Thanks, what baseband do I need as well to use with CM7? The phone is a Canadian version on wind Mobile.. I've found the baseband thread but not sure which one to use on the phone

CM7 or STOCK 2.3.4 rooted both are very stable and fast.
Yes but what baseband?

Any baseband will work. But on the march 2012 one, the bluetooth calling does not work with CM7, only stock 2.3.4!
You should throw hellfire phoenix, new version came out this week. It's probably the most stable rom I've used (based on 2.3) just change the theme up to something simple that he likes.

I've kept the June 2011 Baseband that came with the phone from Wind and it works great with the latest roms - you just have to flash "For_old_bb.zip" after the installing the rom and gapps. Just as important - you may have to experiment with different kernels as different phones (yes - of the same model P999) respond better with others. I'm using HFP 2.4 with ELP ("ELP-G2x-06022012.zip") on my Wind LG 2x (G2x) after trying to make the rom work for a few days with the base faux kernel (didn't work out so well...). Here's my post on the install: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238804&page=24
Good luck!
Eaglesblood I would trust with no hassle.Been using it for months without any problems

I've tried cm-10.1.2 real quick and it was good. A bit slow on lockscreen wakeup and incall headphone volume needs to be increased to decrease lol but other than I didn't notice anything. Running MIUI now, as per my signature.
I'm running PACman 4.2.2 ROM with moretz kernel it is stable, it's my daily driver. It is fast, I'm able to get the look, feel and speed that I want. I am only looking for a Wi-Fi fix. Sorry to bug you again. Would this be the latest stable version you are on:

Combined with this Moretz Kernel?:

Thanks so much again, can't wait to try it. On a side note would you ever flash any nightlies or would you wait for another Release Candidate? Just curious.

I prefer release candidate, stable, milestone and official builds. I have not ever tried nightlies. I hear some are really stable. It's only my preference. The builds that I prefer would have never gotten that way without nightly progress. Nightlies also get updates more frequently.

[ROM][TW]Stock Jellybean 4.1.2 25% port[T769][Recompiled Kernel]

It's time for it.
The long awaited,
Stock Touchwiz jellybean 4.1.2
Recompiled the Touchwiz kernel for the t769.
This is probably one of the most difficult things I have ever done in terms of android development. Well, the second most difficult. :good:
This is pretty much an unofficial touchwiz created by me.
Using 25% t989 libs and a lot of long hours, Touchwiz is suprisingly awesome on this phone. I've kept the zip pretty much like an update from Samsung, except its rooted and deodexed.
Wifi calling works. That is what matters :silly:
Current Bugs which are being sorted as we speak:
Camera rotation
Flash/Torch/Led
Light sensor
-----
In order to fix these bugs, I need to build these libs from another 4.1.2 rom source. In this case I used cm10
Kernel for GPL: https://github.com/somcom3x/tw_herc_kernel
Downloads:
http://d-h.st/users/somcom3x/?fld_id=32615#files
http://www.mediafire.com/?yhcozhjm1t1zr
https://app.box.com/s/vq8ukztb4yephno1vmhw
Instructions:
1) download and flash TMobileT769JB4.1RootedDeodexed.zip first
2) flash jbherct769full.zip second
3) this zip third http://d-h.st/9wc
No gapps required!
Just in case.
Ready to flash!

On a positive note, this ROM has given me the best battery life I have had so far. On all ROMs that I have used I underclock to 1.188-192ghz and set the processor to conservative, and io to cfq. If battery life is a big factor for you definitely give this ROM a shot!
