[APP][2.2+] Tippy [Fancy Holo Calculator] - Android Apps and Games

Hey guys, I've been on these forums for a little while leeching and contributing when i can, but i decided that i wanted to learn how to develop, so... without further ado here is my my first gateway app to developing:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.orrett3.tippypro
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.orrett3.tippy
Tippy Pro (Tip Calculator)
Tippy (Tip Calculator)
Description:
Tippy is a simple, easy to use, tip calculator that is compatible with android 2.2+
When you go to a restaurant or diner simply whip out your phone and put in the amount of your bill and pick a percentage 10%/15%/20% or use the slider to pick a percent, and your tip amount will be displayed along with your total bill, it's that easy!
Now you can also split your bill with your friends, WITH! or WITHOUT! tax! **Win!**
Soon to come:
* Save previous tip queries
* and more...
Update! ! !
Again, just uploaded and it should be up in a little bit
v1.2
* New settings page to customize the app a little bit
* In the settings menu, you can now set a tax percentage. (default: 0% tax)
* Don't like my introduction page? Its cool, disable it in the settings.
v1.1
* Now you can split your check into itty.. bitty...pieces!
* Fancy new tip percentage slider!
v1.01
* Minor fixes
v1.0
* Holo theme Android 4.0+
* Simple UI
free to criticize here and add some suggestions on how i could make it better.
Eventually i will make my way over to baking roms/kernels and much more. (I do have a small background in c/c++)

Its nice. Not that calculating 10-20% of an amount is all that difficult. But in future builds make a slider where tip amount can be selected.
Also there was some text overlapping on my phone. (Xperia tipo). And more currency units will be helpful.
Nice job though

The free version has ads, the paid does not...in the future there will be differences between the 2

Just uploaded version 1.2 with the option to stop showing my little intro screen and you are now able to set a tax rate thats automatically calculated into your tip and total.

nice job keep working on it

What do you mean with navigation is a little bit difficult, what would you change?
It's fine actually. I was just a little unfamiliar with the menus because of being so used to Solar Explorer and its on screen menus. Now that I have played with it a bit more... the way your app is laid out... it allows for more screen real estate for phones. The images look better that way. As far as content, your app is way more thorough than most.

Ah ok.
But the UI is one thing I will change in the future for sure because using Androids standard menus is easier to implement but also brings some disadvantages.
Have you seen the "Quick controls" which you can enable for the standard browser ("Labs" section) and which can be displayed when sliding the thumb from the left or right edge? That's the way I'm going to implement my "next generation" UI .
Great app, I have many astro apps but yours is really fantastic!

[APP][4.0+] GMDYO Launcher (Free) 1.2

GMDYO -> GO Make Dis Your Own Launcher (Free) 1.2
This is an alternative launcher as compared to the various launchers on the market. Given the capabilities of the Android system, we felt that more should have been done to improve the user experience. Thus we are doing this differently compared to current launchers available on the market right now. However, in order to ensure that we are able to cater to all of the needs of the users, we are releasing it as we develop it along the way.
Please do let us know what are the things that
- we are doing right
- what needs to be corrected or improved
- what features you want to see in the future releases
- overall are we heading in the right direction
NOTE :
This app is a work in progress and there might be bugs present. Currently, you can get out of the launcher just by pressing the "BACK" key on your mobile. This is done on purpose as we feel that its still too early for it to be a user's daily work horse and more suited to be a showcase instead.
More features are in the pipeline so do expect updates
If you do notice, we do have another version of GMDYO which is paid. However, please do note that there is NO DIFFERENCE between the PAID and FREE version. The reason we came out with two versions is because we feel that not all might want to get the paid version upfront to support the development and we did not like the idea of putting ads in the app and ruin the whole experience and thus, we decided to do it this way. If you can and feel that the app is worth your time, please do help by either getting the paid version or the free version. Do feedback to us anything that you feel that can be improved.
As I'm are currently under 10 posts, I'm unable to post the link to the app. However, a search in Play Store with "gmdyo" should be able to find the app. Will try and hit the target to 10 posts asap. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Thanks for your time!
Sounds interesting, hope you do a good job with it.

suggestions (maybe)
thx for this innovative new style of a launcher!
i have some ideas that would be cool for that kind of concept:
do you know lightning launcher and its way of not using a grid but some infinite desktop space?
if not, take a look at it, it's free in the market.
now think, wouldn't that be a cool addition to the concept of gmdyo?
the creation of much more intense "cities" would be possible and that would enrichen the experience quite a lot.
another idea would be making gmdyo a 3d thing, but honestly, i have no idea how to navigate that thing if it would be 3d...
anyway, thx for bringing up something innovative and new!
greetz and keep up the good work,

Did tried out Lightning Launcher. Think its a great concept with the infinite space! We are planning to integrate more features into GMDYO, 3D is definitely in the brainstorming stage but as we are concurrently doing development for other projects, so progress might be abit slow. Do look out for our other apps as we launch them!
Once again, thanks for your feedback and have a nice day!

any screenshots?
Had a quick play and is pretty basic at the moment. But a very promising start. Screenshots not really necessary as all it adds to your screen are four squares in the 4 corners of your screen which can be assigned gestures of your choice. I tried it on Xenon rom and it worked great. Looking forward to it developing further. @dev might be worth putting up a short video showing of is main features.
Good work. Keep it up.

Did you try configuring any widgets?
1. Long press
2. "Edit mode"
3. "+"
Also, with one or more "Shortcut Dock" widgets placed on the home screen, you can long press an app from the app tray and "Add to Home Screen".

I like the name, it's unique. I actually think it would be pretty stupid to complain about the name.
Anywho, gave it a try and like it so far. Only thing I would love to see is maybe give the option to make the gesture squares transparent. Other than that, awesome lightweight launcher. Love the whole no grid arrangement. Some wallpapers/widget combos just don't look right with having to stick to the grid.
Looking nice, would really help for a short intro at first start up very innovative and very unique nicely done, also another note would be to add a app drawer we can access via gesture so we don't have to assign every app to a gesture. Thank you for sharing and for your time in creating this great job so far, will keep my eye on this one for further development

Glad you like it!
You can put shortcuts on your homescreen, but they're not separate items; they have to be stored inside a Container widget. The launcher comes with one such widget ("Shortcut Dock") so you have one available. Once you put a Shortcut Dock on your home screen, you can swipe up to view the app tray, then long press an app icon and "Add to home screen".
I have been busy working on new & improved features for the launcher. Obviously one of the things I need to do is have an inital setup that automatically adds a Shortcut Dock and some default shortcut icons.
Waiting for more updates. Good job for now

All widgets can be resized in edit mode using the standard two-finger pinching gesture.
No, the current version does not have a Folder widget. A Folder widget will probably be bundled in the version after next. I don't know whether anyone who has replied to this thread is a developer, but you can also develop your own container widgets.
Cool thanks for the resize of the container widgets ...
Another thing if we could get transparence in drawer ...
Hey mate, I really like the launcher. I tend to go for a very minimalist look and this could work well for that.
My only suggestion ATM is to use a different color picker.

Nice job on the app. I can see alot of people using this. If i move to a 4.2 rom, i will use this because i do not like the "two page" notification layout. Right now on a 4.1 rom, i see no reason to use this. Love the way how you can add more shortcuts and the theme. Keep up the good work

Hi, We will provide a direct upload link soon. Thanks.
This works pretty well, my only gripe against this app, it doesn't have a native look and feel about it. Android SDK has made several resources available in the system for developers to allow and app to feel integrated with the system by using the system look and feel. Maybe give us an option to theme the app or fall back to defaults.
By app you mean the settings activity or the Control Center itself?

I mean the Control Centre itself. Falling back to defaults, meaning using existing system resources as found in every Android rom. This will make it feel much more tightly integated in the system itself. I have a Samsung Galaxy SII, before I had an LG p500, simply because I didnt want an iPhone and as a developer really dislike the platform. That being said, I want my Android device to look like an Android device, if you get my drift.
These resources are available in the android.R. namespace, worth a look.

[APP][2.2+] Calculator 1.0

Free Skinnable Calculator!
Calculator is an application which must be in all devices, because no one knows when and where you need to calculate something. This calculator is very easy to use, it does not have any scary and complicated functions, only those that are in the usual everyday pocket calculator. In addition, you can always change the color of this calculator, if you're tired of everyday gray colors... You can for example choose the pink
The main advantages of this calculator is:
- Simplicity and ease of use.
- Stylish design.
- Ability to change skins (colors), you just need to click the menu and go to the settings.
Hope to receive feedback
Yea...
It's not very pretty. And also you market it as stylish, while it's filled with ads? ...Really?
There are enough calculators as it is, and almost all of them are prettier and more functional.

Stylish with ads.. why not? if you use it offline, it will be without ads ..
And about almost of them are prettier, i don't think so..
I don't really like it.
The idea itself is nice but badly implemented. The themes are anything but stylish, the color combinations are not the best. The font you're using is ugly for a calculator.
I respect the will to monetize an app, but there are some free calculators that don't display ads. Even worst, there are nicer free calculators that don't display ads.
When I read stylish calculator I think about Holo Calc (free, no ads, clear or dark holo themes) or Calcbot (shame there is not an Android version)

Hey Nightwolf, don't worry about the criticism. Its everywhere and it happens. I can say that the app works well and does what it needs to.
But as the guy stated that there is already many calculators out there. Many with great styles, and if I have to be honest (don't get upset) the interface of yours isn't as great. The ads should be removed as well.
The app itself is fine, just re-think the layout and buttons. Match it with the current state of android layouts. So its more consistent and not just random.
Here's some tips -
Re-think the layout.
Now create the new layout replacing all the old buttons and stuff. If you need help with the designs, private message me.
Make your calculator unique.
I hope to see you around here with more apps to come. Good work and good luck!
I'll reserve my Thanks for now and wait till a better version is out.
