Palm Pre Inductive Charging Solution (Touchstone) - Nexus 4 Accessories

I believe the OEM charging block for this phone is supposed to be around $80 when it comes out. I was looking on Amazon and I saw they are selling the original Touchstone for the Palm smartphones for dirt cheap [$6.93]. The design is very similar to the OEM one and I'm not sure if it using the Qi standard (what the Nexus 4 uses), but there is a YouTube video of a guy charging his Lumia 920 (which uses Qi) and it works. I am still waiting to get my Nexus 4, so it will be sometime before I can try it out. If there is anyone who has a Nexus a4 and is willing to try this, I think it will help the community greatly.

List of tested induction charger for Nexus 4

Hi all, i've bought this wireless charger to charge my Samsung Galaxy S3 (with the included coil, it works), AND my brand new LG Nexus 4, and for this smartphone, it doesn't work.
Here the link:
http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160923480453
It claims to be QI compatible, but mine doesn't work with my Nexus 4... Anyone else tried this charger ?
wow, that thing adds wireless charging to a phone that doesn't have wireless charging. that's pretty cool. sorry it didn't work with the N4 tho

yes, it works because Samsung Galaxy S3 already have a special pinout just under the backside cover.
This pinout is intendented to be used with the official charging kit wich will become available in few weeks from Samsung.
But others manufacturers have not wait much longer to create their own kit for Galaxy S3
If delivery works fine, i will receive an other wireless QI charger tomorrow... A philips one... I will post here if it works.
buy the lg pad at any verizon store. its 1000ma and only 50 bucks.

YES, i'm perfectly sure
The Philips charger come with an additional "bumper case" that add the wireless charging capacity to Iphone 4 and 4S.
But i don't use that "bumper case", only the charger, and it works

The Oregon Scientific QW201 "Time & Wireless Charging Station" works to charge the phone.
http://www2.oregonscientific.com/ca...-prod-Time-and-Wireless-Charging-Station.html
It also has a few other neat features like remote thermometer. However I'm returning mine for a few reasons.
1. the atomic clock set didn't work
2. viewing angle extremely limited
3. bright blue charging indicator
I'd probably have kept it if not for #1.

Dt900 is rated at a measly 300 mah.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
anybody wants to try these? its rated for 1800 mAh batteries.... seeing that some chargers that are rated for 1000 mAh all worked, and that the nokia DT-900's that are rated for 300 mAh did not work, these could potentially work (?). Nexus 4 battery is rated at 2100 mAh ... . anybody here goes to vegas on weekends? :silly: :

Don't think it works, otherwise all of us would have swooped them up by now lol. For one, I don't think it reads anywhere that it's qi standard.

Ive been following the other threads on qi chargers for quite some time and most of the ones that are not working either has :
1) contact type charging (i.e sleeve with metal contactor to the charging pad)
2) wireless charging/qi standard but with lower rating for battery capacity (i.e nokia for example, rated at 300 mAh)
from the looks of it, this doesnt look like its a contact type..so there might be a slight chance that this might work..here's one sold in amazon :

[Q] Wireless charger that will work for both Nexus 4 and Galaxy S3?

I just recently got a Nexus 4, and my girlfriend got a Galaxy S3 for christmas. I know the S3 doesn't have native wireless charging (requires some sort of adapter to the pinout under the back cover, I think?), but I was wondering if there's either: A) a way I can add wireless charging to the S3 that would be compatible with the recently released charging orb through the play store, or B) an option that would somehow work for both, if the S3 can't be made compatible with the orb.
I made an effort to search through other questions to make sure this hadn't been asked before, so forgive me if it has and I missed it!
Rumors have it that Samsung is developing a kit, if its Qi compatible then all Qi chargers will work with it.
The real place to ask the question is in the S3 forums. If they make it Qi youre good, if not then its on them.
I got the adapter from fast tech for the S3 (cheapest I could find it at $15 including shipping) for my Boyfriend's S3. I have a Nexus 4. Once the adapter and my Qi chargers arrive I will report back and let you know. I did not order the orb, but I did get the cheap $35 one from fast tech, and the double Duracell one from amazon.
I think I should get at least the adapter and the double duracell one next week. We also have a variety of cases for the s3 to test with.
I'm hoping that orb will work for galaxy s3. Not only I'm getting useless nexus 4i also ordered the orb. My wife might kill me. Lol. We got Verizon and at least a year and a half on contract left.

I'm using the Energizer dual charger (Qi certified) to charge both my N4 and my wife's GS3. I bought an after market Qi receiver for the GS3 from eBay. It fits under the stock back cover. Works great.
I like the energizer unit since I can do both phones at the same time.

I, too, have an S3 and a N4, which are sharing one wireless charger (Power Qi). I had to buy a Qi receiver and apply it on top of the battery for S3. It makes the back of S3 hump a little bit, but the battery cover still snaps in. Of course, S3 feels heavier too.
That said, things work fine. Charging faster than computer usb 2.0 and slower than wall charger, but I can grab it an run whenever I want.
Review is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181042&page=6
In Vietnam it's about 37 USD per unit and the receiver is about 10 USD.

Wireless Charger for Nexus 4 - Daily Deal

I thought that at $25, this is the cheapest Qi charger that I've found recently. It's on this daily deal site that I've bought a bunch of stuff from. No complaints here.

Reviews on Amazon our 4/5 stars, so this might be a good alternative for us.

I saw this too. But I've seen so many mixed reviews with this charger and the nexus 4 it's hard to say if it's worth chancing it. I buy lots of stuff there too.

Droid qi charger, pw-130 ghost one

I just saw that Verizon has another Qi charger for $39.99 w/free shipping. I can't see a manufacturer's name, but for now I'll guess Motorola.
Its called Ghost One, part # PW-130.
It is another flat device like the WCP-300, but it's rectangular and there's nothing in the photo to indicate scale, and nothing to say if it comes with a power adapter. They do say the output is 5V/1A.

Looks like according to the websites: It has a Power adapter, and it's made by Incipio.

Verizon sells the model PW-130, and DROID is written on it, but the WPC site shows that Incipio also makes a model PW-133 (with INCIPIO on it). I didn't see any details about the difference between models, but it might just be that one comes with a power supply and the other doesn't, like buying the WPC-300 from Verizon vs the eBay version.
I'm pretty satisfied with the WPC-300 in my car, but I'm thinking about getting something to use in the house, if I hear about a good price on one that is built into a stand and plays nice with the Nexus 4. I thought about getting one of the really cheap ones to build into a stand but it seems like the N4 has issues with some.

Cheap USB jig

If anyone has a Dollar Tree near them, they have some cheap little micro usb charging/data docks for $1.00. I bought 6 just to see how they did. For $6.00, I had to. After getting them home, I took one apart to check it out, and was happy to see that the wire connection point to the micro usb pins were bare and unshielded. I have a big supply of resistors around, so I soldered two 150k ohm resistors inline to pin 4 and 5. Reassembled the dock, and voila, a usb jig dock for $1.00.
Just thought anyone near a Dollar Tree might want to take advantage of these little things for the price. You might not need a jig, but they seem to charge pretty well and connect to the pc without any issue.

Nice find, I've seen those at my Dollar Tree I'll definitely be grabbing myself a few... and conveniently I can pick up some more resistors at Radio Shack in the same plaza.
And while you're at the dollar store, pick up some $1 white foam core boards and DIY make yourself some home audio speakers using nothing but foam-core-board, glue and a razor.
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/full-range/223313-foam-core-board-speaker-enclosures.html
I thought Dollar Trees wouldn't exist in my city, but apparently there's one in Harlem. Anyway, I actually already have a USB Jig I bought for a Samsung Captivate, but it doesn't seem to do anything for my GS4. But the thing is when I search ebay, a bunch of USB jigs they sell seem to include almost all the Galaxy phones, so I'm confused. Are there ones that are backwards compatible but not forwards compatible?
The one I have works on my GS2 i727, GS3 i747 and GS4 i337. It is just 300k resistance between pin 4 and 5.
I also have another one I made, but it is stick style. Made the one from a dock just because it was cheap and kinda cool.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I actually bought on of these just as a dock... Neat to know we can make a jig out of them too! Thanks for the information! Also I was surprised to see bumper cases at dollar tree for the s4.
