Running Cleanrom 5.0 with Imoseyon Kernel. I enabled USB fast charging, at some point I plugged in my external HHD to the phone and guessing that fast charge was still enabled, the phone shut off right when I connected the hard drive. Now it wont boot. Tried different charger, battery and so on. Anyone heard of this happening before? Maybe a fix?

Hey Everyone,
I have myself the Nexus S and at one time I could charge the device without it being powered on, obviously for a faster charge.. But as of now the phone boots itself on once the charger is plugged in. Has anyone seen this, or had this issue?
weird, no, i have not seen that issue
which ROM are you running?
i can power off the phone, and charge, and see the WHITE charging battery icon with the white bars
Ok,this is strange. I just pulled the battery and tried a different charger and now the device works as it did previously, which is allowing me to charge without the device being turned on. Is this am issue I should be worried about or just a minor glitch?
I'm not running any custom ROM. The phone is completely STOCK. That's why I was a little puzzled
The chargers I'm using are different though. One is a straight ACDC micro charger, and the other is a charger that uses a USD to connect to a charging module.
I have a problem with my TF101 charging. The tablet computer will not start charging without the dock connected. But when the dock is connected, everything is fine. And also it is not possible to connect the tablet with a computer by USB port.
I use kernel 2.6.39.4 [email protected]#1 and ROM IML74K.revolver-4.0.2_epad-9.2.1.21-20120413. I tried also stock firmware 9.2.1.24 and revolver 4.0.3, but it did not help.
Kind regards
are you charging from a mains socket or trying to charge via usb on the computer?
USB debugging on or off?

Thanks for suggestions, but I have tried draining the battery, frozing the charger and different other possibilities about a month, but it has still not been fixed.
Strange is that it is possible to charge through dock and usb connection without dock is also not possible.
Maybe some system file is damaged that controls charging and usp connection, as the problem started when a child crashed my system and I had to reintall ROM?

if thats the case then i have no clue cause mine does this like i said but not sure i haven't charged it through the unit for a long time always through the dock but nothing touched mine i think its just a random glitch that happens to some of us.....also try other outlets cause sometimes it might be the charger itself that is causing the issue i would see about replacing that for cheap and go from there ill see if i can dig up anything else that might help you out
Try using NvFlash to TOTALLY flash everything back to a stock ROM (or NvFlash Prime! or something xD) then see if it fixes charging, if it does reroot and rom it up again should be good.
Hi guys, so I have a stock N5 and it won't charge over USB or AC unless the phone is turned off. I've tried to factory reset with no luck.
My current theory is that something's up with android itself, instead of BIOs. Has anybody else experienced anything similar to this?

when I first turned on my N5 and connected it via USB to do various root related stuff, my battery actually went down with each reboot. Even connecting to the AC cable charged it pretty slowly. But now it's charging fine via USB or AC (although the charging speed with USB does seem a lot slower than my previous phone, Galaxy S3)

Yeah, the phone charges over AC slowly here too, but strangely enough it won't even make a USB connection with a computer as your phone did.
Same Problem!
Hi,
I'm having the same problem.. I could use it well and charge it over USB nicely but know it only charges when the phone is turned off. You could solve the problem??
So a problem reared its ugly head a few days ago...
I tried to connect my phone to my PC to transfer files, but the PC wouldn't detect the phone. It wasn't charging when connected to the computer either. I tried different USB cables and different computers - same problem. If I turn the phone off it suddenly charges, which tells me the USB port on the phone is working. I also tried different chargers too.
My device is rooted, so I thought it may be the ROM I'm running. I wiped the device and flashed another ROM, but still the same problem persists.
It seems like a firmware issue to me as it charges when the phone is switched off. I hardly ever use the USB port on my S6 as I usually charge wireless. I tried cleaning any lint and dust out the port too using compressed air and a toothpick - it didn't help.
Does anyone have any idea what the fault may be?
Are You using USB 3.0 port? Cause I had the same problem. Usb 3.0 never recognised my device. Now after I flashed 6.0.1 the problem is gone.

Tried on USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and a power brick, Mac and PC - all the same result.
Similar Problem
I have similar problem too. My phone is Samsung Galaxy Alpha. Yesterday, I charge my phone using Pineng Powerbank and then i notice that it show the lightning symbol but the battery is not charging but decrease and my phone become too hot. Since I don't bring the charger, I'd try to connect with different USB cable to PC and the problem is still the same. Then I remove the battery for few minute until the phone is cooling down. After switch on the phone again, my phone quickly heating up but the battery is normal. I'd buy new battery for replacement but the problem still occur. My phone also is not charging when in safe mode and only charging when it is turn off. Then I made a factory reset and it's work. Both of my battery is working too. What is actually happening? Does the powerbank is the culprit or virus? Thank you.
I always had issues with my factory usb cord fast charging (known issue)...on Lollipop. I'd have to twist & turn the cable, plugging it in 100 times before "fast charge" was enabled.
Since updating to MM, (same crappy factory cable) fast charge works every time i plug in. Anybody else experience this? Hell, even if it's some coincidence...I'll take it.

I noticed that too. I would have to plug in like 50 times to get it to fast charge before, but it fast charges every time now.
