Hi,
I'm new here. I have a contract phone with Verizon, it's a Motorola Droid Bionic. Can anyone tell me how to Jailbreak and unlock it so that I can go with a pay-as-you-go network please?
Thank you in advance.
Um......to go on VZW's prepaid plan you'll probably have to wait until the contract is over, or pay the ETF. Then open a prepaid account and use your current phone on it....
I doubt you can use the phone on other networks, and it is CDMA so there is no unlocking, and there is no jailbreaking on Android

I got my xoom tablet 3g. I have two questions.
1. How do i know my xoom is 4g enabled?
2. I saw that Verizon has prepaid data. I believe it is using sim card. I talk to the Verizon live chat people, and they told me that the data coverage isn't as good compare to the mobile broadband. Anyone use prepaid here, and could you please confirm that?
I want to use prepaid because I want to avoid the activation fees lol
thank you. I ask about it, They told me is 35 dollar activation fee, first time customer. No way go around it. Do you know pre-paid has any activation fee?
I've called 5 vzw reps, they all tell me the charge can only be activated on vzw contract. I've read through the forums on a couple websites and read that this phone hasn't yet been flashed to any other network, and I know the 4g sim slot can't be used for GSM purposes, but is vzw contract as of rite now the only option?

Seems like it. Heard of people taking the pre-paid route, but don't hold me to that.

You don't need a new VZW contract to activate one. I don't know if you could use it on the pre-paid service though as I don't know of any pre-paid 4G phones. If you have a post-paid plan, you should be able to buy a Charge and just get VZW to give/send you a SIM card for it.
Edit* I meant GSM not GMS.
OK here is my full question. I currently have a HTC EVO 4G LTE, and I am on a two (2) year contract. If I were to sell this phone and purchase an Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S III, would I be able to have that phone activated on my contract until it's over with? Is this even possible or would I just have to terminate the contract and do something else? I really want to get an unlocked phone instead of being locked into a two year contract on a terrible network. Which now I regret extending the contract I'm on now. I have never owned an unlocked phone so I really am not sure how they operate other than you can use any SIM card in it. Can you even purchase SIM cards for major network carriers here in the states?

Yes the unlocked galaxy would work, but activating it would defeat the purpose of it being unlocked. Your contract should continue as signed just by swapping your sim in your HTC into the unlocked Samsung. Think of it like if you were to break your HTC and they give you a PAYG phone to keep the sim working, only it's not a crap $100 phone it's a galaxy s3.

The reason I want to do this is cause I would rather just sell this phone and buy an Unlocked phone and not pay an ETF right away and or when my contract is up I can switch and keep the same phone.

Or just stick to prepay after your contract. It's way cheaper. I'd say transfer your contract to whoever buys the HTC and get a prepaid sim and the Samsung. There's no fees for transferring you contract. It'll take like 15 minutes at a store if you go together.

Friend couldn't pay his bill on Verizon and is looking to sell off his RAZR maxx HD as a result. Branded ESN due to lack of payment. I'm interested in buying it off him but only if I'm able to activate it. I was wondering if anyone knew of a safe and LEGAL way of clearing/fixing the branded ESN.

If you want to get the devices release. Your going to have to do a couple of things.
If services is suspended,
1. Your friend need to call them and set up a promise to pay on the bill. You need to set that up to get the devices cut back on to completed a en change. (The promise to pay is going to need a checking account. You can purchase a PayPal Prepaid card and give them the banking information.
2. Once you have the first one completed, then find an older phone or something that you can complete a esn change and that will release the devices.
If the devices is still activate,
1. Call Verizon and tell them you want to do a esn change on that number.
That should do it for you my friend.

So my contract is up at AT&T, I have been thinking about switching to T-Mobile but I am scared that T-Mobile will not work inside my building at work. I don't want to cancel my AT&T until I know because I have the grandfathered unlimited data.
What I decided to do was to buy a Nexus 5, go to T-Mobile get a plan and try it out for a few weeks to see how the service is. My question is if I decide I do not want to move to T-Mobile and stay with AT&T is it as easy as cancelling the plan because I own the phone, and switching the sim card from T-Mobile to an AT&T?

Yes. Grab a prepaid sim and pay for one month service from T-Mobile. If you don't like it go back to att.

If you don't need the unlimited data (and it sounds like you don't if you're willing to switch to T-Mobile), another option to consider is the at&t pre-paid route. The GoPhone service is reasonably priced (2gb data for $60), and you'll be staying on the same at&t network.

T-Mobile offers an unlimited data plan for 70 a month.

why waste money on a new device, unless you really want to upgrade to a Nexus 5?
unlock your current S3, test the t-mobile service
I have to say that tmobile's building penetration is indeed poor... enough at my desk near a window, but not enough inside the window-less room in the middle of the building
but it's cheaper than the other plans available by the other carriers. but if you are on a grandfathered plan, evaluate whether it's worth staying
