Boot looping on the Eee Pad Screen - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
So I looked tried to charge my tablet one day, and it decided to boot loop to the Eee pad screen and continue to do that. I tried to enter recovery and it then tried to restore a backup that I had, it said there was some kind of error and CWM wouldn't work after that. I tried doing a cold reboot but nothing worked. Also I tried EasyFlash and I don't think I did that right either. I was on CM 10 before this happened with Rogue Recovery. What are the steps that I need to take in order to get my tablet up and running again.
PS: I know that there are threads about bootlooping but none of them helped much.

I would love some help...:crying:

It seems like I can't get it into apx mode properly. I installed the drivers and when I plug it in it shows nvidia... under USB universal in device manager. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Hi.
I have had this problem for four times after trying to flash to a custom ROM, and now my tablet is perfectly functionable.
If you used EasyFlasher to get a custom ROM and now it's bootlooping OR if you tried to root your device and its bootlooping OR if you do not know what you have to do, then check the ways below:
====================
W1:
Power up the device. When it starts bootlooping, hold both Power + Volume DOWN buttons until it will say that you should press volume up or it will enter RCK mod. When that will appear, do nothing. Just let it enter RCK mod and it should wprk. If not, then do W2.
W2:
Look under your TF101 and see if the S/N starts with B60 or under or B90. Start EasyFlasher and select the FIRST button at launch if it is B60 or under or the second if you have B90. In the EasyFlasher's folder you will see a folder with a name like "update" or "puthere". Now go to Asus' TF101 page, to downloads (Link coming soon, until then try to find it) and select the latest (first you find) firmware.Do NOT use a custom rom or you will hard brick it! Download it to the folder I said above. DO NOT EXTRACT IT. Now, make sure your tablet is at least 50% charged so it can successfully flash the stock rom. Then, connect it to your PC and press the Power + Volume UP buttons on your tablet for like 10 seconds. There must be now a NVIDIA driver in your Device Manager. Go back to EasyFlasher and press "Flash/Unbrick/Root". If anything pops up, check carefully what it says. It will probably say to be sure it is in APX mode and if you want to cpntinue. Press yes or OK. A CMD box will appear, exxtracting the firmware you put in that folder. Let the PC and the tablet do it's work. Do not use the tablet while this happens or it may really becolme unusable forever. After it extracts, another CMD box will pop up, flashing the stock fw. If EasyFlasher will say something like "system.bin - 0kb" then the update will fail and your tablet will get HARD BRICKED. In this case, PM me and I will help you. Okay. Now, your TF101's screen should turn on and say "!!!UPDATE SUCCESSFULL!!!" for like three times, and all the CMD windows from your PC should dissapear. The EasyFlasher should now stop installing the fw. Hold your tablet's power button for 5-10 seconds and release. You should now be able to start your device without bootloops. If there still are bootloops, then, do the W1.
====================
I have had alot of experience in bricked tablets, and those ways should wor. For more infos or TeamViewer help, PM me.
I hope I helped,
Kevin.

When it says to make sure that you are in APX mode, just hold Power + Vol UP buttons for 10 seconds then press ok. The drivers you have must show up as a NVIDIA driver in Device Manager when you hold that buttons. Do what I said in the previous post, it helped me four times lol.

[Q] I need help! My TF got stuck and can't boot into recovery!!!

My Tf got stuck at the logo Eee Pad boot after I tried to restore the old rom, and now it can't do anything except boot and stuck at the logo.
I tried the nvflash unbricking technique from rayman84 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123429
, but my TF only listed as unknown device when I tried to get to APX mode and it also said,
"This device is disabled because the firmware of the device did not give it the required resources. (Code 29)"
Now I don't know what else to do. Please help! I hope I am not completely bricked the device yet.
Have you tried the button combo to get into recovery?
Press and hold the Vol down + power button.
When prompt, you'll see lines of words at the top left of the screen, push the Vol up button immediately within 5 sec to get into recovery.
Apparently, I didn't know the button combo. Anyways you save my niece's TF. Thanks a bunch
Edit: although the tablet is working now, it still got the message usb unknown device. Do you know how to fix it?
Hi, i don't know if i should post a new thread but my problem is almost the same as bengob3t's one.
I have a brand new TF101 with a B70 Serial number, but i successfully rooted it using the RazorClaw Tool. Then i tried to install clockwork mod followin this topic : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106587
I directly applied the instructions from step 8 (download hashmyfiles etc...) and i rebooted my Eee pad manually step 13
I didn't see any progress bar, but my device is stuck on the Asus screen, and the speakers make stange noises at regular intervals.
I am able to go into recovery though (power + vol down then vol up) but the factory reset doesn't work, and i cant really do anything (at least not anything that i know what it is).
Is my tablet definitely bricked ? If not, how can i bring it back to life ?
I wasn't able to use NVFlash, as i can't seem to go in APX mode. I press power+vol up, i hear the sound usb device connected and immediately after i hear the sound "usb device disconncted"
Nvflash says
"Nvflash started
rcm version 0X4
Command send failed (usb write failed)"
Thanks in advance for your help.
EDIT : When i put the micro sdcard from my phone into the tablet, i am able to mount it. So i will probably be able to flash something from it, but what ? Do i have to flash a recovery ? Directly a custom rom ?
I'm a little lost, but i'll try to give you guys as mush info as i can find.
EDIT2 : I flashed the PRIME rom, everything seems to be back to normal... if you got info on my situation, don't hesitate to fill me in ^^ i'd like to understand what i did wrong, even though i dodged the bullet.

Do you have the correct driver installed? Do you have Asus sync install on your PC?
hmm.. I'm not sure. I downloaded the unbricked tool nvflash file, and the tool already had usb driver inside it. Is that the driver you were talking about? I never were able to get to the point where I need to point the APX to where the driver located because it always said unknown driver the whole time.

[Q] Bricked TF101 - any way out?

Hi
So I have totally bricked my TF101, I basically ran the ARHD Super Wipe Full script and then stupidly hit reboot, rather than actually go an install anything.
Now my TF101 is stuck on the Asus boot screen and I can't get out of it. To top it off, my power button is totally messed up and doesn't really work anymore.
When I connect the TF101 to my computer (Win7) it tries to install the Asus MTP drivers (which fail because I get error 10, the device is not working, or something like that).
I can't get the machine into APX mode (or any other mode in that case) and I can't get ADB to work on it.
Have I totally baked the machine?
[FYI I have taken it back to Asus but for them to repair it, they say they have to change the motherboard and the cost would be HK$2,400].
Thanks in advance for any tips / suggestions.

So power button doesn't work at all?
If that's the case then I'm afraid your tablet is kinda paperweight..
Try downloading universal naked drivers and install them.. that might help in installing / recognising your tablet... I'm out of suggestions....
You can try this.. let the battery drain out.. press down volume down button and then plug your tablet into power.. as soon as screen boots up hit volume up button that should take you into recovery... once in recovery do the needful.... good luck

Did you try using compressed air on the buttons? Maybe you just have some pocket lint in there.
As a last ditch effort, you could wait for it to shut down, hold volume down, and then plug it in. If your tf boots, it will respond to the boot time commands.
APX mode might be better since you won't need any button commands once you get in. I think ASUS changes the usb ID every once in a while to keep windows users on their toes. It doesn't seem to be an issue with linux.

If you can do this and get into recovery you'd be closer, what recovery do you have installed? I have twrp and it supports external sd which saved me when i did this. ..
Thanks guys.
I have already tried the universal naked drivers, without luck.
I was using an old Roach recovery.
Will try the other methods. Otherwise I'm going to take it down to one of the computer centres in HK to see if these guys can do anything (and hopefully cheaper than what Asus are asking for).

Seems my power button is totally fried as even with the bezel open it doesn't work at all.
It should go to boot screen if ur pressing vol - it should boot into recovery I don't thinked the button fried:sly:

The only problem is that I'm still on a beta rom from when ICS just came out. I'm on revolver it looks like. My Clockworkmod is also broken because I had a manual install, created by Roach I believe, and I then installed the one from the clockworkmod app before reading on xda not to. The tablet does not pick up that it is plugged into my computer, but it works with a wall charger. My current version of clockworkmod also won't let me update roms for some odd reason....
What would be the best way to get to a rom that will allow me to use my tablet with my computer so that I can run nvflash and restore the device to factory settings?
Thanks.

You just need to put your tablet into apx mode to flash to stock.
To do that power off the tablet
Plug the usb cable in
press and hold the power and vol up keys for about 5 seconds.
If you are on windows you should hear a notification sound.
There are a few tools you can use, like the poster above suggested
Easy Flash:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688012
-or-
Brk's root toolkit.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688447
They both essentially do the same thing but i prefer the brks toolkit for the layout.

The brks toolkit will probably more suit you, but I do have to agree, follow the above and install the latest ICS rom direct from asus, and you should be good as gold.
Did I mention that CWM auto boots up? The only way to get to android is to press power + vol up at boot up, let it load past cwm and then cold boot linux.
So I think whenever I try to get apx mode or whatever, it's trying to get into android, but it can't.
Can anyone help me? Sorry...
Okay so you're running linux with dual boot? Which method did you use to install it? Franks tools/Olife or the pseudo dual boot method.
Most threads like that will have info on going back to stock.
try power button and vol down.
otherwise when in recovery just try holding down power and vol up for a while 30 seconds plus (while plugged into a pc)
See if it will kick you into apx mode.

No, I didn't. I have to do "cold boot linux" which brings me into android.
I try to run adb and it cannot find the device, so I cannot do anything. I can boot into android, but I cannot wipe or change roms due to this cwm being broken.
Which method did you use to install it? Can you be more specific about what exactly is on your tablet right now?
Is your USB cable good? Can you sync from within a computer?
Did you install the apx drivers from windows?
I have yet to see a device that does not enter apx mode. When mine was looping in CWM only, this is the method I used to fix it. Unless your USB cable is damaged or you don't have the drivers installed... I "unbricked" 4 devices using apx without any issues.
As fauxsoul said, please provide install method and step by step of what you're doing.

[Q] What can I do? tf300t seems bricked, holding buttons doesn't help, no apx

Hi,
This is my first post. Been reading posts for awhile to make sure I'm doing the most I can on my own for my Galaxy S3 and my TF300 but I think I finally hit the wall.
Here's the si
Got a TF300T, unlocked it fine (using SDK and command line through all this) rooted to CWM with fastboot, that didn't work right so I flashed to TWRP, put on paranoid android that didn't take so decided to put back to stock to start fresh. Put it back to stock, unrooted. Looks like I used the wrong version firmware (some keys on my board weren't mapped right, press comma, get semi colon). So I checked and found the newer version firmware, was in the process of loading using command line, accidentally pressed enter while loading so it looks like it was doubling up and looks like it froze so I stopped it by holding on and Vol Down now it won't turn back on.
Now I know that's probably what's causing my problem. But now I get nothign on the screen, I've tried using the tips I've heard on here: reset hole, holding On and Vol Up to get into apx mode etc but nothing is working.
I've searched on the forums but I haven't found anything for my particular problem but maybe I'm not asking the right questions.
I'd really appreciate any help, spent too much on this to give up.
Thanks
Mine transformer tf300 can be turned on, but then it get's stuck on the bootscreen with the text bootloader unlocked. I can't turn it off normally, holding vol - & power button does nothing. To turn it of I need to let the battery run out or press the vol + button & reset hole.
I found a tutorial on youtube how to unbrick it ( I am not able to add the link because I am new).
The tutorials uses apx mode. Here is where my problems start. When I press the vol + button and connect my tablet to my laptop it does enter apx mode and it is shown in the device manager.
But I need to force install the driver acording to the tutorial but I don't know what driver I need to install. I've tried the drivers from the asus website and the driverd for adb. but nothing.
Can anyone tell me which driver I have to install? Because getting in to apx mode is the only way I can get any responce from my tablet. When connected I see apx device connected in the device manager, but nothing in my computer where my disks and removable disks show up.

[Q] Bricked?

Hi,
My Transformer TF101 would not start, it got stuck at the ASUS boot screen. So I thought that I would restore the device by flashing stock rom using EasyFlasher. But I ran into problem...
I put the device into APX mode and updated the driver from Universal Naked Driver 0.72.
Once I do "Flash Asus stock zip / Unbrick" from EasyFlasher 0.8.3 a command window appear (see attached picture) and after a while the text in the windows stops at
[+] Sending bootloader...
Sending file: 100 %
The screen of my transformer lights up and says the following:
Entering NvFlash recovery mode / Nv3p Server
Chip Uid: 033c20c140e04117
I waited several hours in this state but nothing happens. If I unplug the transformer from my PC I am not able to reboot it, the only thing that seems to work is power button + volume up to start APX mode and then connect to the PC.
Does anybody have some idea what could be wrong? I am thankful for all suggestions.

I got a new (to me) TF101 for my OH for Christmas - I seem to remember the serial number was not mentioned in EasyFlasher either - however cutting a long story short, EasyFlasher didn't work, but I googled and used PIRI and was rooted and booted in no time at all. Hope this helps you.
Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately I cannot boot into recovery, nothing happens when I press volume down + power. Since I cannot start it I cannot use adb so I guess the only option is to flash recovery/stock rom in APX mode. But here is where I run into problem, nothings happens after the bootloader is sent to the device as I wrote earlier.

Since you can still use the APX mode you should be able to restore the stock firmware.
From my experience EasyFlash works like a charm. But it has no option to install the APX drivers. You also need to download the stock image from the Thread.
Did a restore to stock just a few days ago.
Looking at your command you did not tell wheelie to install any ROM after the bootloader.
