Sorry I'm typing this on a phone. I want to sell my transformer. What is the best way to clear my Rona and go back to pure factory settings? Thanks!

The only problem is that I'm still on a beta rom from when ICS just came out. I'm on revolver it looks like. My Clockworkmod is also broken because I had a manual install, created by Roach I believe, and I then installed the one from the clockworkmod app before reading on xda not to. The tablet does not pick up that it is plugged into my computer, but it works with a wall charger. My current version of clockworkmod also won't let me update roms for some odd reason....
What would be the best way to get to a rom that will allow me to use my tablet with my computer so that I can run nvflash and restore the device to factory settings?
Thanks.

You just need to put your tablet into apx mode to flash to stock.
To do that power off the tablet
Plug the usb cable in
press and hold the power and vol up keys for about 5 seconds.
If you are on windows you should hear a notification sound.
There are a few tools you can use, like the poster above suggested
Easy Flash:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688012
-or-
Brk's root toolkit.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688447
They both essentially do the same thing but i prefer the brks toolkit for the layout.

The brks toolkit will probably more suit you, but I do have to agree, follow the above and install the latest ICS rom direct from asus, and you should be good as gold.

Did I mention that CWM auto boots up? The only way to get to android is to press power + vol up at boot up, let it load past cwm and then cold boot linux.
So I think whenever I try to get apx mode or whatever, it's trying to get into android, but it can't.
Can anyone help me? Sorry...

Okay so you're running linux with dual boot? Which method did you use to install it? Franks tools/Olife or the pseudo dual boot method.
Most threads like that will have info on going back to stock.
try power button and vol down.
otherwise when in recovery just try holding down power and vol up for a while 30 seconds plus (while plugged into a pc)
See if it will kick you into apx mode.

No, I didn't. I have to do "cold boot linux" which brings me into android.
I try to run adb and it cannot find the device, so I cannot do anything. I can boot into android, but I cannot wipe or change roms due to this cwm being broken.

Which method did you use to install it? Can you be more specific about what exactly is on your tablet right now?

Is your USB cable good? Can you sync from within a computer?
Did you install the apx drivers from windows?
I have yet to see a device that does not enter apx mode. When mine was looping in CWM only, this is the method I used to fix it. Unless your USB cable is damaged or you don't have the drivers installed... I "unbricked" 4 devices using apx without any issues.
As fauxsoul said, please provide install method and step by step of what you're doing.

Arghhhh - Can't NVFlash, ROM manager not getting root, everything crashing.

I had a defective G2X and got a new one today. I tried to root this one the same way I did my other, but now the problems in the subject line are showing up.
*I rooted using one-click
*I couldn't get NVFlash to work using the vol up/down and pluggin in USB so I just flashed it using ROM manager
*Wiped
Now, I still cannot get NVFlash on because the phone doesn't show up while using vol up/down + plug in usb.
ROM manager doesn't have root privileges (even though one-click says phone is rooted)
Can't access recovery. It just shows the Android sitting next to the box with the orange arrow.
I do have the SDK... Is there a way to flash the 2.2.2 recovery using that? I haven't had to use ADB in ages and have forgotten most of the commands.
In addition...
Tried mounting and it is coming up as Mount: No such tool
You'll have to NVFlash properly.
I think you are forgetting to remove the battery when attempting to NVFlash.
Remove battery
Hold Vol+/- and plug in the USB
The computer should ding and load the APX drivers. Then just use the NVFlash One-Click app to load the latest ClockWorkMod.
Focus on fixing the known issues before trying to attempt another project. Besides I don't think ADB will work if the phone is dead.
Once you successfully NVFlash, from No Power, hold Vol Down and Power until it powers on and dumps you into ClockWorkMod Recovery.
There you can flash a custom rom, or restore a downloaded Stock Nandroid.

After repeated attempts, I got NVflash to work properly. However, when trying to get into recovery through ROM manager, it does nothing. If I try to use the volume down key while powering up, I get the "please wait while upgrading".
EDIT: Did the same steps no less than 20 times... the 21st made it work.
It shouldn't have been that difficult ....it's an easy 1,2,3 process ....as long as you got it to work thats fine...theres a step by step vid on YouTube on how to root our phone with NVflash...mind you its 15 min long, as long as you follow it exactly how he does it...it works!!! Good luck!

[Q] Unable to boot into recovery/bootloader

Basically neither adb reboot recovery nor ROM Manager/QuickBoot will boot me into recovery. The device just reboots as normal. So I'm unable to flash new CWM or Prime :\
The device has root (su is installed and showing prompts for superuser access).
Is there something I should do which I'm not or I am, in fact, booted into recovery and just don't realize it?
None of those work to get you into recovery.
You can look for Gnufabio's boot to recovery app or
Hold volume down plus power button, soon as you see two lines of words appear at the to left corner, press volume up within 5 seconds, that will take you into recovery.
Thank you. It worked.
do you know of a way to do this without root i can bairly get my transformer to boot normally let alone recovery...
AFAIK you don't need root to boot into recovery.
I'm still wondering why these forums provide misleading and clearly wrong directions of getting into recovery...

The above method will get you into stock recovery if you're not rooted.
... the reason i posted this is because this method DOES not work for me... those programs require root. i do not have root. i am trying to get root. i have been rooting rom loading since my htc touch way back the only reason i want to root is so i can get netflix cause asus didnt update that lib file...

The button combo method is the default way of getting into recovery stock or custom. To get root you have to follow one of the many way to root.
How are you rooting by getting into stock recovery?
what i am saying is the default button combo isnt working for me to get into recovery mode.
i cannot get the device into apx mode at all
i need a way to do this
the default button combo is not working.

The APX mode is different, the combo above is for recovery.
For APX you need to power off the tablet.
-Plug the tablet to pc with your usb cord.
-Hold volume up while powering on
-Your screen will stay off but you should hear a "Ding" on your PC (or what ever noise your PC make when USB device is plug in)
well... they really should post that... i guess i did have apx working properly

[Q] Can't get into S/W!

Two weeks ago I had an ICS rom installed and was tired of the poor battery life, so I tried to unroot my phone and bring it back to stock to start over later. I got the stock 2.3.3 installed and decided not to unroot and just use the rom.
I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14159600#post14159600
But I didn't actually use SOC to unroot, because I wasn't sending my phone back to TMobile.
Today I was looking to see if there were any ICS roms that I might like to try out and found HFS. I downloaded it and tried to boot into CWM (Power + Vol down), and instead of going into CWM, it did the little android install splash screen, and just wiped my phone. So I installed RomManager and tried to install the rom through that. It rebooted, and did the same thing. So I "fake flashed" CWM through RomManager, and it booted into CWM finally. I thought I was in the clear, so I factory reset, wiped everything, and installed the HFS rom. It ran all the way trhough and installed successfully, until I rebooted. Now it's stuck on the white LG logo. I can't boot into CWM! It just goes to the android update splash and restarts.
To make things so much worse, I can't even boot into S/W update! I remove the battery and hold both volume buttons and plug in the USB. It does nothing. No lights, no driver installation prompt on my computer. Nothing...
What can I do at this point?
You need to re-install CWM, when you went back to stock it probably reverted your recovery to stock as well
Alright, I can get into s/w update by holding only the down arrow... But now I can't get NVFlash to acknowledge that my phone is plugged in. I've installed the LG drivers, ADB drivers and the LG Modem drivers. It doesn't ask for the APX drivers, although I've installed them in the past...
What do?
Just making sure, you are removing the battery, holding down the VOL up/down while you are plugging it in W/O the battery?
Yes I am. But it doesn't work if I push both, then plug it in. I only push the bottom and it boots into S/W
FYI, never, and I mean, NEVER use ROM Manager to flash CWM Recovery. That's like asking for a brick.

Re-read his question. In order to get into apx mode you must remove the battery, keep it out, and, while holding the volume up AND down buttons, plug in the phone. If you already have the drivers installed itbwill not prompt for them. Just. Flash cwm with nvflash.

My apologies for any misunderstanding as my answer was really short. But what I meant to say was, when I remove the battery and push both volume buttons down, then plug it in, I wait for 3 minutes and it still does nothing. But if I remove the battery, hold only the volume down button, it will boot into S/W. But when I use this method, it doesn't show up in the device manager as anything. I only get the sound of connecting a USB device, other than that, it's just not recognized by my PC. I've tried to run NVFlash anyway, and it says USB not connected. I'm at a complete loss...
Well I actually had a problem like this ( the not found usb part ) ehen I "bricked" my phone and what I did was I kept trying this for about 5 minutes and it worked. So my advice ie to check if you have the USB driver installed then keep trying to NVFlash.
If I helped you, push the thanks button for goodness sakes!

[Q] Stuck in recovery, no OS, unable to put files for a ROM [RESOLVED]

Okay, so I've had the issue with CWM 5.8.3.4
And unfortunately I didn't fix the the boot issue and the problem I'm running into now is that I have super wiped my internal space so I have no roms to flash back to.
I can't cold boot into an OS because there is Android OS installed on it right now.
I don't know how to place anything onto the Asus TF101 internal memory.
The clockwork mod doesn't detect my external micro sd card either.
My device is a SBK1, B40
Anyone have any ideas on how I can access my microsd from recovery? or how I can get adb working.
I tried booting into APX mode, but that doesn't seem to be working either (Vol up + Power)
Not sure what to really do now.. Stumped that I'm stuck on recovery mode with no way to access its storage.
Thanks
EDIT - RESOLVED (taken from my last post) 10-07-12
Hey All,
I wanted to update this thread, I just got it fixed tonight and it was the cable.. One of those difficult to realize and pinpoint for troubleshooting..
But if anyone ever has problems with their computer not detecting their device, it can be the cable (which in my case it was)
I was able to get APX mode working, and adb via recovery working as well with the new cable.
Thanks for all the help!

The problem is that I'm not sure how to get Easyflasher working since I'm having trouble connecting the tablet into APX mode.
I plug in the tablet and power it off, and after powering it off I try to get into APX mode, vol up and power.
But my computer doesn't detect anything. To me it seems like it doesn't get into APX mode.
Not sure how to really connect with Easyflasher..
Probably a silly comment... but every time I have used APX I have done it this way:
1. Unplug
2. Power off
3. Plug
4. Vol Up + Power
I have tried inverting 3 and 4 and it also worked. But I always start with th TF unplugged and powered off.
Probably it is the same, but maybe you can try. Have you tried another uSD?
Easy flash will work... unplug, power off, press vol up+power for at least 5 sec then plug it in.... comp should detect APX device... look up YouTube videos... there must be some kind of video abt easy flash or apex mode....
Sent from my Transformer using xda app-developers app
What I remember I tried was:
1. Powered Off and unplugged
2. If I plug it into the usb drive, the device starts booting up
3. Unsuccessful with APX
Another method:
1. Powered Off while plugged
2. Held Vol up + Power
3. Nothing happened
I'll try again and report back tonight. I'll try another uSD, but I think this recovery doesn't detect any uSD's unfortunately
Thanks
Remember in apex mode or tablet won't turn on... but laptop should detect apex mode, if not laptop should say unknown device or unable install drivers...

I don't know whats wrong..
At this point I considered my tablet bricked and cursed with ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.3.4
I tried 3 different computers and none of them detect my tf101, they don't detect it as an unknown device, don't detect it as APX
I've tried running APX mode several times, with different ways of holding VOL UP + Power as well.
It refuses to go into APX mode unless I'm still lacking the magic touch.
I can get into cold boot mode, but there isn't an internal OS to boot into. If only I could do that as well to put things onto the internal memory.
At this point I might try to RMA.. but probably out of warranty and voided it with rooting recovery on it as well..
Damn bricked!...
Just don't understand why APX mode won't work..

I answered your question here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32277020#post32277020
Yes, you need to get into APX mode. And yes, it will work. You can't wipe APX mode off your tablet, it's stored in the first few blocks of your emmc, in fact it's so hidden the device uses the secondary partition table instead of the primary, so nothing can touch the partition containing APX code
On whatever computer you're using, open device manager. I'll assume you know how to get there (right click on my computer>properties>device manager) This will let you see any new device pop up clearly
Like everyone said, you just need to hold down up, and power. It doesn't matter if your usb cable is plugged in first or not. If it makes you feel any better just leave it plugged in. When my original transformer was messed up so bad I couldn't turn it off, and it just kept bootlooping, I forced it to boot into APX mode by just holding down power and vol up for a good 45 seconds, until the screen was black. It would keep retarting a few times, but eventually the screen went black, and that's how you know you're in apx. I then plugged in the usb cable
You should see something pop up in device manager - if nothing does, it's possible it's already installed a proper driver - do you see something like "apx transformer" at the top of device manager? if so, you're ready to open easyflasher.
if you hold down power and vol up, and the screen is black, and the device doesn't boot up, then you're in APX mode. Now just work on getting your pc to see it. Try right clicking in device manager and hitting refresh
Edit: make sure to do this without the dock! Use the tablet only, no other accessories
There's absolutely no reason to RMA your tablet, it's perfectly fine. You flashing a recovery didn't do any damage or alter APX mode. Worst case scenario and you still can't get into apx mode (it's easy just keep trying it). What you can do is boot into your recovery, then connect it to your computer. Then you can use ADB to push a different recovery zip (like raymanfx's hybrid cwm, which can read from external and internal) to your external sd card in the device, and mount it as /data so your recovery can see it, then use your current recovery to flash it. then you have a recovery that can read from sd cards. A quick guide here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24793571&postcount=25
Instead of pushing over superwipe like he says, push over the cwm hybrid zip. Put it in the same folder as the adb.exe . If you've never used adb before, it's incredibly easy. Just google it.
Trust me, you're tablet is far from RMA status. My first transformer has bad blocks in the internal memory that I'm working on partitioning around using command line parted via a recovery shell, if people can do that then you can easily fix yours

I've been flashing custom roms, via recovery etc since the g1, it's just strange to me that the computer has no detection of my device at all. And that I've tried 3 different computers as well.
When I get back home, I will hold Vol Up + Power in a dark room for at least 1 minute to see if I can get APX Mode.
For the ADB push while recovery mode is on, my computer doesn't detect that either (I've tried on other computers as well, one which was a recently fresh install of windows).
I'll update later today again.
Thanks

[Help] Bricked my Nexus what's next? :(

Hi, this situation is kind of strange and I hope it's just the battery and not the whole goddamn phone.
What I'm dealing with at the moment is:
The phone doesn't boot
When plugged onto charger or USB cable it boots but stuck at Google logo after a blink and stays there. Also, Home, Back and other buttons are lighten.
When "forcefully" put into fastboot mode, e.g. after plugging it onto USB and instantly pressing Vol Up + Power it stuck there as well, volume rocker no more response neither does the power button. Also, I notice there are no commands at the end like "USB int" etc we see normally.
Fastboot or ADB returns no device found
Please help. I personally believe it could be due to battery, what do you guys think?
Thank you.
As long as you can see the google logo, your device is not bricked. GIve more useful information; like your computer operating system, the last thing you did before this happened, etc.

Thanks. My OS is Windows 8.1 Update 1. The last thing was to install UPDATE-SuperSU to root so that I can install ROM Manager to update Recovery but the installation was aborted so I attempt to flash it via Fastboot with success. Then, wanted to install SlimKat but it couldn't let me mount USB storage so that I can put the .zip file. I, then stupidly click on install via ADB but didn't know how to go back so I pulled the battery and powered up; used ADP push command to transfer said the file, but again for some reason I had to pull the battery and since then I am in above position.

Put the device in bootloader and plug it into the computer, be patient, my phone is rather slow to get detected sometimes.. (Up to 30 min.) Check your drivers on the computer, try rebooting the boot loader from just pressing the power button (while in boot loader mode)..
If all else fails, read up on Wugs NRTK page and about ODIN...

Hi, device doesn't go into bootloader without plugging it to computer (I've to press required buttons BEFORE plugging OTG cable). And when it boots in fastboot mode it doesn't let me press any button either. I kept it plugged in for sometime as well when it when it was at Google logo; will try to do the same while in fastboot mode too and let you know. As for drivers, same computer was used before when it was working and it detected just fine immediately (gave me a pain to find the right drivers though - PDANet was a life saver).
EDIT:
I should mention that I broke the OS before this happened by formatting /system folder and wiping other data from CWM recovery - I think, I also rebooted it without flashing the ROM as well.

I recently had to update my drivers on my computer.. after it did an update, my phone wasn't recognized..
Try Wugs Nexus Root Toolkit,.. use the options for "bricked".. do this from the bootloader screen (power/volume +)...
I don't have experience with ODIN, so you'll need to read that forum/threads...

The problem is, even the Toolkit doesn't recognize the device no matter what. Even the keys for ODIN don't work, aren't they Home+VOL+ and Power?
EDIT1:
Kept plugged in for little longer as suggested but it heats up (it's too hot here) so I plugged out. Going to be running it off of Linux and lets see how it goes. :fingers-crossed:
EDIT2:
Tried Adam's UnBrickable method on Linux and even that couldn't find device. But that was to be expected since Adam clearly mentioned in his post that this tool isn't for those who see anything on their screen.
Whelp! Currently I can only see I:\ drive in device manager and that's all under portable devices and that's all. I see the same even in BIOS boot options, it's listed as "Google".
Guess need to close this thread now.
