I'm having an issue with my wifi on my S3, but only with one AP. We just installed a Cisco Aironet 1024 AP at our church, and initially my phone connected to it without problem. I've been doing some work on trying to get it configured as I want, and now my phone has issues connecting to it. What is strange is that my tablet and laptop both connect with no problems.
Here's what's happening. The AP is broadcasting on both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. My tablet doesn't support 5 GHz, but connects to the 2.4 GHz band just fine. My laptop supports both and connects to both fine. For whatever reason my phone doesn't see the 2.4 GHz band, only the 5 GHz one. It will connect to the 5G one fine, but then it drops and reconnects repeatedly. My phone connects to both my 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands on my router at home just fine.
I'm assuming there's something screwy with the way my AP is configured at the church, but it still seems like there's something screwy going on with my phone. I've tried deleting and re-adding the AP, I've tried a factory reset, and tried restoring my nandroid. None have solved the problem. Anyway, I'm at a loss here, so do any of you have ideas of what I'm missing? What could be causing my phone to have issues with this one AP when all my other devices work just fine? I'm currently running CleanROM 5.0 with KindaCrap Mods installed. Thanks in advance!

I have a 2.4/5GHz dual-band Wireless-AC network at home that my Nexus 5 connects to just fine. At work there are various wireless gateways that run at 2.4 GHz that my phone can also connect to just fine. However, the main work network, which I need to to connect to is a 2.4/5 GHz network with access points all over the building and my phone just refuses to connect to it. It will say 'connecting' for several seconds and then go right back to 'saved'. I have tried disabling and reenabling my wifi, I have tried forgetting the network and reentering the password, and I have even tried setting my phone to 2.4 GHz only (since I had heard something about Nexus phones having strange issues with 5GHz networks), but nothing has worked. I really need to get my phone on this network, so I'm hoping someone can help me.\
In case it's relevant, the 5 GHz band of the work network is on channels 36, 40, 44, 48, and 157, and the 2.4 GHz band is on channels 1, 6, and 11.
Just received my ASUS MemoPad Smart 10 , had this issue out of the box. It won't connect to most 2.4Ghz Wifi. Can see networks and tablet will try to connect for ~5 seconds then network just sits there as 'Saved'
What I tried:
1. Asus n56u router - 2.4 Ghz does not work, 5 Ghz works perfectly
2. D-Link Dir-615 router - only supports 2.4 Ghz - does not work
3. Tethering AP on Nexus 5 - does not work
4. Asus n66u router - weirdly both 2.4 and 5 work perfectly on this one.
I am running latest stock (it did not work on out of the box rom also), tried to change frequency settings (Auto, 2.4), rebooted routers, tried wpa2-personal and open network. All other devices work perfectly on all networks.
Don't know what to do now.

I am seeing the same issue. Did you find any solution to this problem?
I have an ASUS wireless router, and my wi-fi connection at home is dropping all the time (especially while playing Hearthstone, frustratingly). Is anyone else experiencing this and/or know how to fix it?
My experience has been that the wifi on my phone works great, leading me to wonder about either your router or your environment.
questions and things to try
1. Does you phone work well with other access points? i.e. is the problem only at home but it works elsewhere?
2. is your home a "noisy" wifi environment? i.e. lots of other nearby access points or other devices in the 2.4 Ghz band?
a. Get an app from the play store called Wifi analyzer (its free). You can see a chart with all the access points your phone can see and what chanel they are using. It can show both the 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands.
b. If your router is showing up on the same channel or a nearby channel as one or more other access points, try manually setting the channel on your router to something else that no one else is using or near.
c. If you router is dual band (i.e. has both 2.4 and 5 ghz) and you are using 2.4 Ghz, try using 5 Ghz. You can set your 2.4 and 5.0 Ghz to different SSID's (network names) so that you can easily tell which one you are connected to.
3. Do other wireless devices you have also have connectivity problems? Consider a new router?
I had problems with wifi dropping. I went to Comcast and swapped out my modem for a new modem/router and haven't had the problem since

I've had very poor speeds on WiFi compared to my nexus 6p. Annoying it's so slow

I suspect the issue has to do with my Asus router. Apparently Samsung devices and Asus routers don't play well, according to what I've read, but I have no idea how to fix it.
Hello, my Galaxy S7 doesn't detect any 5GHz WiFi AP's.
Have searched some and see that I'm not the only one and some S6 users also have this issue.
Can anyone who also have this issue report it here with firmware versions. (Dial *#1234# to get the info)
My phone came With build G930FXXU1APB6 and now updated to G930FXXU1APF2, but that didn't fix the problem.
The csc is G930FOJV1APF2
And of course if anyone knows if there is a fix please post .
Is it software or hardware broken or did Samsung make some phones with 2.4GHz WiFi only modules?
is your phone stock? have you tried connecting to other 5ghz network other than your home´s? could be a router issue
1. try doing a factory reset (will lose your data) to see if it fixes the problem
2. consider installing new firmware
Maybe your router is not configured correctly. You can choose that the 5ghz network only supports 802.11b for instance. Check that your settings allows all WiFi.

You need to check your Router settings.
If your router has the same SSID for the 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ bands rename the 5GHZ SSID also if you have an option that says Sync with 2.4GHZ under the 5GZ settings set that to No, if it is not already set to No..
For example if they are both called Router just make the name of the 5GHZ SSID Router-5GHZ, save the changes and wait a couple of minutes.
Turn off the wifi on your phone then back on again (do this in the Settings>WiFi) you should see the 5GHZ router name appear in the list of available devices as well as the normal one, just tap that put in the password and connect
This should work, the usual problem is that the router SSID where the names are the same the phone will connect to the 2,4GHZ as default, not always the case but the general cause of it not connecting to Smartphones.
I use the same name for 2.4 and 5 GHz, the phone automatically connects to the best available network. 5 GHz when I'm close to the router, 2.4 GHz when I leave the range of the 5 Ghz. When I return to the 5 Ghz range it connects to it automatically, but not always, then I have to stop and start the WiFi on the phone again to get on the 5 ghz.

Still no 5GHz Wi-Fi
Hello, I have checked my router and also tried on other 5GHz routers, but still my phone doesn't see any 5GHz channels.
Has anyone tried a firmware for another region?
Am I really the only one on XDA with this problem?
WiFi country code
I have noticed that my 5 GHz does work, but ONLY if the router is manually switched to channel 36 for 5 GHz. My router is WRT 1900AC (4 antennas, bought from US)
I have read that it could have something to do with the wifi country code.
Max link on 5 GHz it is max 200 mbps, which still seems very low, since my non MIMO/single channel crappy laptop wifi also gets 200mbps.
And I heard people getting more then 800mbps ont their S7 phone.
Flashing my phone with an official unbranded firmware from the Netherlands (PHN CSC file), did not fix the WiFi issue.
WiFi Country Code in System file
I have come across this forum in which a user claims a fix, but the phone needs to be rooted.
Does anyone know if this is really the case? My phone is not rooted.
Was there ever a fix here?
My S7 (SM-G930F - BTU, using Oreo build U5ESD2) does not see any of the upper 5 GHz bands. I am trying to connect to a router that is configured to output ONLY on band 149, so there can be no 2.4 GHz "confusion." Changing the configuration to other upper 5 GHz bands doesn't help.

android 10
wifi: 5ghz
there is something very strange here. other phones work perfectly. can you help me?
under mac address type (in the phone under wifi settings to a specific network) you can choose random mac address as well as phone with mac. what do you choose? same problem with both.
edit: i reset wifi settings. it seems to be working fine now.
the problem has resurfaced. the phone does not connect to wifi even though I reset network settings again. it connects but drops signal immediately.
can anyone help me please?
ok i get issues again. now i connected it to 2.4 ghz. ill return to tell if it got solved or not.
since i started using 2.4 ghz wifi. ive never encountered any connection issues. this samsung a40 phone seems to have issues connecting to 5ghz wifi.
hope they'll fix it soon.
