My MZ607-32 is stuck in a bootloop. (Xyboard 8.2, Wifi-only, 32 GB, USA model)
I had been running the leaked ICS ROM from July. I was trying to flash it back to stock Honeycomb so I could get the OTA version of ICS.
I downloaded the retail fastboot for Honeycomb (RETAIL_MZ607_1.6.0_278_1FF.xml.zip) from here:
(droiddevelopers) (.com) (/downloads.php?do=file&id=1456) (I'm a newbie; not allowed to post links...)
The md5sum was good.
Then I enabled dev mode, powered off, and powered on with +/- volume held down.
I picked "AP Fastboot", plugged in the USB, ran RSDLite 6.00, and tried to flash the file.
It seemed to go OK, but at the end it just gives the (M) logo with the heartbeat over and over, once in a while giving the (M) logo with "Dual Core" underneath.
I tried to flash it a few more times - always with the same result. After about 5 minutes of trying to boot, my PC goes beep and I get the "MotoCast" setup folder appearing on the PC (via the USB). But that's all.
I'm stuck - what do I do now?
[Note: I'm not allowed to post links, but a version with pictures is on my blog site: (nerdfever)(.com/files/xyboard/); see the README.
I fixed it
OK, I fixed it by doing this:
(https) //motorola-global-portal.custhelp[/url]) (.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/75704)
Summary:
1 - Hold Vol+/Vol-, then hold Pwr till it gets to Boot Recovery menu.
2 - Choose "Recovery"
3 - Wait for android with ! sign.
4 - Press Vol+/Vol- at same time to get into Recovery menu
5 - Choose "Wipe data/factory reset".
6 - Let it do the wipe, then choose "Reboot now".
That's it.

My phone is currently sitting with a "S/W upgrade" screen after a series of stupid events. I flashed recovery using ROM Manager before I had read that it fake flashed. I rebooted into recovery and installed CM7 nightly. Rebooted and it's stuck in a boot loop. So I finally see all the warnings against that so I figure I need to get a real recovery so I use the awesome guide from TGA_Gunnman. I follow all the instructions and it appears from the log on my PC that the CM recovery flashed successfully. I pull the cord, reinsert my battery and my phone just sits in the S/W upgrade screen. It's been like that for 30 minutes now.
What do I do?
I thought I'd done something wrong with my G2x because that happened to me too. Remove your battery and USB. Then insert your battery again. When you turn it on, make sure to hold both the power button and the volume down button until you see text that says android. If you, like me, thought you just had to hold the volume down and tap the power button (like my Nexus One), that might be your issue.

just disconnect usb, and go to recovery Power+vol down...
.....and congrats !
yep, I thought I bricked it too.. When you were done at the green screen where it said press any button, thats where you press whatever you want and then unplug the cord. Then, put the battery back in and hold down vol then power, don't let go until "android" pops up.. You did it man, just missing your last step..
Moved to proper forum
I can get to the Recovery screen, but I cant select any of the options....volume lets me scroll, but cant find anything to select any of the options....kinda new at this
power button to 'action' your selection... at least it works for me.

The "S/W upgrade" stays on, that's normal. See if your terminal window has completed whatever stuff it is doing. If you get a completed message, you are good to go and can safely pull out the USB chord even if your phone still says "S/W upgrade". Put back your battery and hold Power+Vol DOWN button and see if you get into cmw recovery.
so im trying to fix my friends phone and this is weird..
im able to go to cwm, wipe it all and flash a new rom.. it flashess successfully but when i reboot it goes back to the s/w update screen..it happens with any rom i flash.. its been sitting there for a while.. how long should i wait?
Once you flash the ROM you shouldn't be getting that screen...Does your friend has the G2x or 2x and which ROM did you flash?
Sounds like you screwed up the boot image. Go into APX mode again and reflash the recovery package making sure it completes, you hit a key to close the terminal window, and you hold the volume buttons the entire time. Then go into recovery and factory reset and clear the Dalvik cache. Then if you still get the S/W update screen you are going to need to go to the thread about fixing bricked phones and use the KDZ method to reflash the entire GB OTA package. There is also a new method to reinstall the entire OTA package using NVFlash but you have to hold the volume buttons down for about ten to fifteen minutes while everything flashes.
i have a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 p3113.
i used heimdall to flash CWM into the tablet.
after what seemed like a succesful flash, my tablet rebooted. but for some reason, it would only go as far as showing the galaxy tab logo. it seems stuck there. i could not turn the unit off. i would hold the power button to force shutdown, but it always starts right back up. it seemed like i could only shut it down if it was connected to my mac while holding down the power button. i can however, boot into download mode.
after consulting google, it seems like the appropriate step was to restore the unit to stock. problem is, i can't seem to boot into recovery. i'm being told by the internet that to boot into recovery, i need to hold [power] and [volume down] until it turns on and then release [power] but keep on holding [volume down] and CWM will load. but nothing happens.
i know this is a total noob post, but i've been scouring the web for two days. i'm at my wits end. any help would be greatly appreciated.
I think recovery mode accessed via volume up+power if you could not so use download mode to flash stock or so to return to normal operation

I press the power and UP ( button next to the power button) I normally hold BOTH buttons down at once and let the boot cycle process twice just to make sure i am going into recovery .....so i see the white samsung text twice i mean. It may take around 10 seconds to complete the process. Then release BOTH keys at once.
The battery needs a good charge for it to work.. Try charging over night before you try it via the mains supply.
Holding the power button and down will bring you into download mode and thats what you use for an odin/heimdall flash.
Hope that works for you
Let us know how you get on .....
Thanks. The battery of the gtab2 drained overnight, so i've got it charging back up now. Will definitely post my results when i have something.
Thank you guys. I'm able to boot into recovery now.
But unfortunately, i still need a little guidance on my original problem. And that problem being that my gtab2 will not startup. After rebooting, it gets stuck on the logo screen. It also plays a startup audio clip. But after that, it just displays the startup logo screen. It does not go into the animation screen and start.
I should also mention that when i plug my gtab2 into my computer, no drives show up.
My question now is, if i were to select [wipe data/factory reset] in CWM, would this restore my gtab2 to it's original factory state? Or would I need to flash a ROM for this? And if i need to flash a ROM, could i place a ROM on a microsd card and flash from there?
*********UPDATE*************
Everything is fine (so far).
I went poking around CWM and realized that I had put a cyanogenmod 9 update.zip in the root of the internal sd card before all this happened. So i went back to cyanogenmods wiki on how to install it on my gtab2 and followed the rest of the instructions on flashing it and VOILA!! I have my gtab2 back.
you should use ODIN instead CWM.
CWM is not designed specifically for Gtab2.
unlocked & was rooted with ICS .30.
I was doing A factory reset, from the tablet options to wipe all games & apps, forgot & wanted to use TWRP. so stopped it from rebooting once I hit the button in ICS to factory reset, bad mistake as, now if I try to use micro sd recovery or APX, but dont have a timer count down, just frozen at this screen.
When the issue first picture with the ASUS logo in the top right corner says::
The Device is Unlocked.
When you try to go to recovery mod it produces here
Android cardhu-user bootloader <2.10. e> released by "US_epad-9.4.5.30-20120907" A03
Checking for android ota recovery
Booting recovery kernel amage
* and everything is stuck here without even a timer, no way to get the usb option even. tried apx shows drivers in windows but dont show a device once you type adb devices. seems to be locked up once it boots now, tried to drain battery & see if it would unlock, nope. tried reset, hard reset, not sure if there is any option to unfreeze, looked around forums & tried many things, but odd it the wipe button is hit in os & stopped even before a reboot, it already wiped some stuff. thought it started after reboot. turned off right when I click the button, was bad mistake of mine.
downloaded JB from asus, unzipped & renamed. but freezes at asus logo without a timer option, or APX wont respond even tho I hear the usb chime & drivers show in windows, ASUS_Android_USB_Drivers were installed, to try fastboot, no device shown tho.
1. Decompress downloaded .zip file (it will be another .zip)
2. Rename it to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip
3. Format FAT32 the MicroSD card that you will be using for the update process
4. Copy the file to (the root directory of) your MicroSD
5. Insert it into the tablet
6. Shutdown (power off) the tablet
7. Power it on by pressing and holding VOLUME DOWN and POWER buttons simultaneously
8. When you see white text in the top left corner of the screen, release the buttons ^^ and press VOLUME UP button until you see Android logo and process bar
Let me know if there are other was to unfreeze or is this a $300 mistake to have asus repair as its a software brick.
Really need your help, please!
I've bought MOTO RAZR X925 from Amazon.
I have:
Android 4.1.2
98.22.16001.XT925.Retail.en.DE
Software Version: 9.8.2Q-8-XT925_VQUL-16
First time I turned on the device, set up all accounts, mail, installed some apps from PlayMarket.
Then I decided to change all my accounts and just did "Factory Reset" in order to not waste my time for any changing. I did it while usb-cable was connected to PC. No root, no unlocks. After rebooting the device started to update software (!), showing green droid with blue something inside. In the end this greed droid falls down showing an error. And the device starts the same again with no success.
If to press power & vol + it shows booting menu. If to choose "Normal Powerup" it starts normally and offers to set up the device normally, and then works normally. After reboot it goes again to updating a software which again fails and erases all the data!!! But if to boot with "Normal Powerup" from boot menu - the device works normally with all saved data.
If to boot by choosing "Recovery" option from boot menu and with connected usb-cable it goes again to error.
Please help me with it, I'd much appreciate it.
EDITED: tried to flash exactly my ROM with RSD Lite v6.1.5. Flashed successfully. BUT PROBLEM REMAINS THE SAME! While rebooting goes to updating the ROM and fails.
Thank you!

Thank you so much for your reply, BUT no success so far.
Step 1. There was no SIM card, I was setting up the device without SIM, as well as no SD Card.
Step 2. Boot in recovery mode by holding together Power & Vol +, choose Factory
Step 3. It started to boot immediately after I've pressed "Factory". Since I did not perform Factory Reset before, the data has not been erased (???) after boot, so phone was set up with my old wifi settings and working
Step 4. Did the same step as 3.
Step 5. Inserted SIM card (first time), and boot normally
Step 6. The same problem remains: droid is trying to install something with an error. I boot via Power & Vol + with option "Normal powerup". After booting all data erased.
May be there are some files missed for normal booting, but only from recovery mode...I do not Know
Thank you for getting into it!

Please repeat the instructions but instead of booting in "factory mode", choose recovery. This will bring up an Android who is lying on their side. Hold Vol + and Vol- then press the power button, and choose factory reset from that menu.

I tried to do that but it does not allow me to get into Recovery! Little green Droid appears and constantly updates with an error. Pressing and holding vol+ vol - and power in any state of phone shows just black screen,
I can choose and boot with: Normal powerup, AP Fastboot, Factory and BP Tools. BUT NOT RECOVERY.... After pressing "Recovery" - green droid appears.
And also, when I fully turn off the phone with USB cable connected, it again selfbooting with green droid!

Oh, I do thank you, Darbness, for help. When after pressing "Recovery" droid appears I press and hold vol - and vol+ and - nothing happens. Also other time tried power & vol + & vol -. It just turns off.
Then I tried through sdk toools in command window from "DROID_RAZR_HD_Utility" using command "fastboot flash boot boot.img" I flashed this boot image. Now after normal power off and normal power on I receive message "Fastboot Reason: Flash Falilure". Acctually at least the device doesn't erase the data every time (even if from normal phone's menu "Factory Reset") But still I need to press Vol+ & Power to boot through "Normal powerup".
I will try to flash stock now again. But please MAY BE there is a way to fix fastboot now??
I'd appreciate your help in any case.
[EDITED] NO! Again droid appears, doesn't react on any combinations and then fails! I'm doing it all the day today... And there is no service center in Cyprus where I'm based now

Don't use any DROID utilities, since those aren't compatible with XT925.
You can boot again in AP Fastboot, then connect the computer to the phone and use the following commands with the SDK tools:
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase cache
Once that is finished, flash your phone back to the German stock you flashed originally.
Keep us posted.
Also, the recovery is different, hold VOL- and VOL+ and while holding, press the power button quickly to bring up a menu...

I did what you said with fastboot commands. The phone has now the original problem (selfrebooting)
BUT I cannot get to any other menu but only those in attachments.
When the phone is fully turned off:
1) I press vol+ and Power and hold until menu IMG_3455.JPG appears
2) I press Vol - vol + and quick press and release Power and menu IMG_3457.JPG appears (seems the same)
3) I press Vol - vol + and long press Power - nothing
When the phone is switched on in ANY state (normal operating, green droid, while booting):
1) I press Vol - vol + and quick press and release Power - nothing
2) I press Vol - vol + and long press Power - the phone reboots and then gets to green droid
Green droid is looking like IMG_3458.JPG
Both menus options:
Normal powerup - starts and operates normally
Recovery - goes to green droid operating forever
AP Fastboot - goes to fastboot mode
Factory - starts and operates normally
BP Tools - starts and operates normally but when connected to PC requires additional drivers which I cannot find in Internet IMG_3460.JPG
And when I connect usb to switched off phone it starts to boot and gets to green operating droid.
This is nightmare. My wife is going to divorŅe!! help to save our lifes!
Hmmmm... found the same problem for other people:

I have a tablet that I didnt use for a few years and decided to update it and use it.
The tablet is TF101G, bought from PELEPHONE company in Israel with their own custom rom including a bunch of garbage apps.
Build is: HTK75.PELEPHONE_epad-8.6.6.24-20111202
Android version: 3.2.1
Firstly I tried to enter recovery mode in order to flash the KatKiss rom available here on the forums, but was unable to enter the recovery mode.
After holding power and vol-down button it splashes a text at the top right corner that i should click the vol-up button in order to enter RCV.
1. If I dont click the vol-up button it splashes another screen with 2 icons - one that restores the factory settings and the other just reboots the device
2. If I click on the vol-up button it shows an android icon with gears spinning inside for a few seconds and then the gears change into an exclamation sign.
Tried using the APX mode flashing tutorials, all of them - without success.
I did attempt to manually firmware update the device but it can't see the update in the sd-card. The only update the device did see, it allowed me to update but stopped in the middle with the same exclamation sign icon. Once rebotted it splashed a message that the update was not compatible.
Tried looking for a compatible update but most of the links for the old asus updates are dead.
I'm totally lost...
