Hi there,
I'm looking for my first tablet... Here's what i want to do with it :
- Read mails and surf on web (avoid to go on desktop computer in a separate room...)
- Read eBooks and view Film in train
- Play games! (NOVA3 and over more recent games...) maybe buy a Bluetooth game pad to play on TV after?
As you can see, it would be for travel too... So i first think about Nexus 7. But when i see it, it's just too small...
What about TF300T (with keyboard)?
- TF300T has a good fallowing? (Does it pass to 4.2 soon? as example)
- all games work ok on it? (specially Gameloft)
- any fealing or regret for some of you?
- Is it still the good time to buy a TF300T (which begin to be a bit old, no?)
Thanks in advance....
Cast.
I'm very happy with my tf300t 32gb. The 10 inch screen is very nice. I've read a good bit about the keyboard and have decided to purchase one soon. As for 4.2, I read that Asus is in beta testing and it should be released before the end of the year.

I owned a 32gb with dock for about 6 months. I sold it for the nexus 10. For me, I used it for surfing, a little gaming, loved it while traveling, especially with the keyboard dock. My main problem was the I/O especially on web browsing. Don't get me wrong, its a great device, just not the one for me. I did lots of research, questions on here, reviews comparisons on YouTube and went with the nexus 10. Should be her Monday!!
From other members on here who came from the tf brand they said the performance is very noticible.
Granted there are some great things, expandable storage, and the keyboard dock. The performance just wasn't there for me..
Do some research before you pull the trigger

Can you tell me more about your problem? I just want to know if i'll be impacted with it because i too want to web browsing with my tablet...
Other question : do you know if Nexus 10 will be sell in shops in the future? I have a voucher to use.... If I can buy it in shop, not on google website, it'll be great...
Thanks!

For me it was wait errors and then close browser or wait. It happened often, or it was just slow. When I would use the iPad it was so clean, and quick with pages loading. From what I hear the nexus 10 is leaps ahead of the tf300. The tf300 is older gen quad core. The nexus 10 brand new dual core, that outperformed the tegra processors.
Its just had to explain, it was just slow, sometimes felt like 30+ seconds to load.. let me find you a YouTube video about this...

i love my tf300 for playing games browsing the net and watching films, the added usb slot in the dock means i can just plug in my 500gb hdd with all my films and tv shows on and just play from there

Yes, that's a big plus for me too - but with Stock ROM I got some browser closes when I had opened many tabs - also some games were laaging a bit, so I'd recommend you to unlock and flash a Custom ROM (I do it on every of my Android devices :laugh
I think at the moment TF300T (or TF700T, but for just a display difference TF700 is too expensive compared with TF300)and Nexus 10 are the best 10 inch tablets, but Nexus 10 has only 16GB what is just not enough if you want to watch movies and play (Gameloft) games while travelling, because both things just need much space...
So I can really recommend you this tab, I've had no problems so far and it was really worth the money (Except when it fell on the floor once and had a grey screen and I thought Tab was broken - unfortunately just RAM was ****ed up for the moment, Reboot "fixed" this )
I was in your position a few months ago but went ahead and purchased one after selling my Xoom. At first I was a little unsure if I had done the right thing and there were a few performance problems but after unlocking, rooting and installing custom ROMs any problems i had have now completely been eliminated.
With the dock the and extra storage you really can't go wrong. I'd recommend buying one but only if your prepared to unlock and root it. There are plenty of guides in these forums and a whole bunch of helpful people if you get stuck.
Iam currently running the CleanRom 2.7 Rom and it's absolutely amazing, my tablet is flying along rather nicely

I recently got the 7.0 plus as a late Christmas gift. I like the size of the tablet because it is nice and light and goes everywhere. However, I have a few cons that I am wondering if they are deal breakers for me.
The first is the lack of games that can be played on the 7.0 plus. I don't want my tablet to play games all the time but I was hoping to be able to play a few games (like riptide or asphalt6) and this tablet cannot play those types of games.
The second is that some tablet apps don't work on this device and I would guess that is because of the 7 inch size. I was hoping to mainly use the device to read news, magazines and books. I do not care too much about videos because I have a laptop that can handle all HD videos I throw at it.
I'm stuck between size, weight and portability versus games and proper apps. Does anyone know how the Thrive, Transformer or Samsung 8.9 tablet handle these things?
Thanks for any help
Have you tried Chainfire? This may allow you to play the games you mentioned. As far as the other apps are concerned, you may want to contact the developers. They may just need to update the app so it recognizes the 7.0 Plus as a tablet.
Keep in mind, this tablet is relatively new, and my guess is, many issues like this will be resolved in due time.

Agreed chainfire is about your only option right now. With that said the exynos chips are very very good....just give it some more time for the dev community to pick up.

I second what the posters above have already said. Chainfire 3D will allow you to play those games for now, but with time these games will be updated to work with the 7.0 Plus. The same goes for the tablet apps.
To answer your second question, the 8.9, (since it is Tegra 2) can handle everything you have discussed in your post, and it is closest in size to the 7.0 Plus of all of the tablets you have mentioned. If you like the portability of the 7.0 Plus, a move to the Transformer or the Thrive, (especially the Thrive as it is so thick,) will feel a good deal less portable.
My advice, (for what it's worth) would be to get chainfire3D for now to play the games and then stop using it or even get rid of it once the games have been updated for your tablet. The tablet apps will be updated, it will just take a few more weeks. (I seriously doubt it would take more than 3 more weeks for developers to update their apps.) I hope this helps. Have fun with your tablet.

HUH? Riptide works great even without chainfire. Asphalt 6 on the other hand is fairly new and still doesn't support our tablet officially. But there are some workarounds with that. (thanks to chrisrotolo for teaching me )
Well, I haven't really found any tablet optimized app that doesn't work on the GTab+. I think it is compatible with our device but maybe it's not available on your country?

I was messing around with the dpi and find if you change it to 132 if the app has a tablet optimized version it will show properly on the tab. Try it with the IMDB app you'll see what I mean.
Thanks for the responses guys! I tried riptide and it FC'd. I'm in America and the apps I was talking about is thinks like CNN Tablet Edition cannot even be installed. It says it does not recognize my device.
I will have to try chainfire and see how it works! Thanks again for the help
Actually, can anyone help me so I can get the games to work?
1-What is point of buying FULL HD tablet and most the apps are not optimize for it..(Like the IPAD 3 there are a few apps that are optimize )
2-What is the point, every time i go GOOGLE PLAY to buy an app ,it is not compatible with my devices.
{Almost 90% of EA games and 90% of GAMELOFT games are compatible with my devices.}
What else i'm i missing........
MOD EDIT: REMOVED
This is the future of tablets along with 2gigs of ram like the Note 10.1. Eventually apps will be optimized for tablets and for higher res screens. Google has spoken out and said that they will focus on tablet apps optimization so its only a matter of time before most devs are on board. Yes many apps are not optimized for the FHD screen but I havent had any issues with all the apps Ive downloaded far and i already have about 150 apps installed. I dont know about you but I like knowing that my FHD screen tablet will still be valid in the coming years vs one with an aging lower res screen.

Text, which is used on ebooks, web browse, several games etc. But if you have Infinity or FHD device, just go use non FHD device now. You will immediately notice blurriness on texts. My eyes are bad, but even then I noticed the difference on my old iPad 2 after 2 weeks of Infinity.
The problem is that everything is made for the Galaxy. And we know all that has a resolution that looks 10 years old compared to the TF700. Devs are too stupid or too lazy to figure out it's easier to downscale than upscale. (Evidently I mean those on Google Play and not the folks here, let's keep those two seperate.)
As for compatibility issues, developers are too lazy to add 'Transformer TF700" to that text file in the google play store that lists compatible devices. (How hard is it to do that when you add the Nexus 7?! Morons) Fact is all EA and Gameloft games work FINE on the TF700.
many apps/games which are shown as not compatible are working fine if you copy a titanium backup from your phone to the tab!

When an app or games looks really promising, I'll always try side-loading from my Galaxy SII -- works more often than not. With Total Commander, you can just send over the raw apk file as well.
I have removed a few post in here guys, remember this site is for everyone, be mindful of what you say. Thank you!

I Blame Asus, they should call the Game developer and ask the why the game is not compatible with their device.
When Asphalt 7: Heat came out it wasn't compatible with the Nexus 7,but Google make sure that was compatible in a few days.
Asus is making Good Hardware but does really spend time on the software.....
I look at it this way:
I went through the same pain when Vista first came out, only it was software *AND* device drivers (for hardware). IOW, Been there, done that.
Yeah, it is annoying that some apps are not available for my Infinity. But, most are. And I am good with that.
As mentioned above, I'd rather be ahead of the curve in terms of hardware than behind it. Having used my Infinity for a couple of months now I could never use anything less than the resolution I am using on it on any other tablet.
What is the point of spending $500 or more on a tablet device and not getting Full HD?
Big Lots had this tablet on sale this week for $80. It has crappy resolution(800x480) but does have 1gb of ram and Android 4.0.4 so I would give it a try. Out of the box it didn't support tablet optimized apps or setting so i had to add a line to the build.prop to fix it. Then I just did the usual things ot add the Play store and Gapps. I have the files and instructions if you pick this tablet up and want to get yourself going quickly.

Will try this when I get back intown

My mom asked me about this tablet, After researching I told her this would be a pretty decent tablet for kids. So she picked up a few of these for my nephews for X-mas gift so they will stop fighting for/over hers. This will be excellent to get play, change res & gapps. Thanks for this. I'll post back with results.
i purchased one of these at biglots today and it allready quit working. i didnt try to root it or install playstore. the appstore that came with it was buggy for me and the thing crashed the first time i used the browser. i had to use the reset buton and now it wont boot past android guy so going back tomorrow.
baught another one today. there was a hissing from the speaker. turned it off and it would not turn back on. didn't even leave the parking lot with this one. has anyone else had bad luck with these. should i try again if they get more in
What are the pros and cons of switching the default resolution (big) to a smaller setting?
bought mine a week ago
I just bought mine a week ago, and it is a very nice tablet not for it's price, just a nice tablet. plues are
-wifi, it works very well good range.
-fast enough processor 1.2 ghz plays temple run no hicups, I have'nt had anything acting funny or anything like that.
-muti touch works great 5 points of touch
-USB port, it comes with a mini USB, but has connecction that makes it a full USB port. so far I only tried a keyboard and it worked perfectly ( thats what I am typing this with
-front facing web cam. it works though
-micro sd
3-4 gigs of storage. it saids 4 gigs but I only see 3
negatives
- it did'nt come with play store. I had to install it myself by hooking it up to the computer and getting some script and connecting tablet through ABS or something like that. I'm no expert it took me about 30 min. to do.
-no bluetooth
-no gps
-no fifty core processor
-no camera on the back ( its a tablet it should'nt have one)
all in all I got this tablet for $71 at big lots on sale, and it is normally $80. If you just want a good tablet that will go on the internet, play most games and apps ( netflix, flash, templerun) then you won't be diapointed, if you want a $200 dollar tablet buy a nexus 7
D2 hardware change?
Hello everyone,
Yesterday I picked two D2 Pads on BigLots but I just want to inform that it has been a hardware specification change (downgrade).
Please take a look at the photos I included, but basically the D2 has been downgraded to:
512 MB RAM
1 Ghz CPU
LCD Screen with bad viewing angles!
Also the hardware buttons have been moved from the top to the right side of the tablet, so this clearly indicates it's different hardware.
It's no longer as smooth as the original D2 Pad, but all in all, it's good for kids and the casual web surfer/social network user I guess.
Cheers!
Rayan

IT just depends on your wants and need. The Nexus10 out performs the TF700 but has limited storage, no USB port and no keyboard dock. Also, unless you are willing to unlock the performance stock will be not that great.

I just am not sure if I should wait a few months to see what the latest and greatest tab will be,
I mostly use the tab to surf the net and check email, thats pretty much all I do with the tab

If that is about it then the TF700 would not be bad. In order to install custom ROMS you must unlock thus voiding ASUS factory warranty. The keyboard dock makes it SOOO much easier surfing the web and typing up things.

Nope.
I would no longer recomend this tablet. After the last update it has become very unstable, and I was never happy with the speed. Apps crash regularly (including system apps) and do not behave as expected. I would find a more stable device if I were starting over.
No deep sleep
The only reason I cant recommend this tablet is because it does not have a deep sleep function. Well it supposedly does but it never works since the first day i got it. I have made all the changes that have come through in suggestions and nothing works to correct this. It almost seems worse since 4.2.1 update but it was still bad before that.
Other then the no deep sleep I think its a great tablet.
Íf you're willing to unlock and install custom ROMs, there's no tablet in the market that will beat the TF700.
The Nexus 10 has a high resolution and is faster when comparing stock, but it has no MicroSD slot, no dock (and thus no USB, no extra battery, no extra SDslot..)...

Since the tf700 has a permanent issue with I/O bottleneck, it only can do so much. Imagine a custom rom/O/C kernel on the Nexus 10, definitely better than the tf700 in term of multitasking. Nexus 10 does have mini usb port which you can add a mini usb for a external sdcard. A wireless mini third party keyboard/mouse would be nice since the tf700 with dock is impossible to place on your lab (fliping over due to unbalance design, tablet is heavier than the keyboard). I would take the nexus 10 without hesitation.

The new tablet will no doubt surpass this tablet, however it will require you to wait, which might be worth it, or may not be. I personally am eager to see if ASUS releases a new transformer using a Tegra4 or a Snapdragon SoC, maybe even an intel. That would be awesome. And maybe better i/o performance because the i/o sucks but my tablet still runs great and with DATA2SD can solve the issue, mostly anyways.

Yes they do indeed. But I doubt I will ever get a touch screen tablet/laptop without a keyboard. I have experienced both typing and tapping and using a tablet to type things up is a pain. And I very much dislike having to carry around a bluetooth one. The keyboard dock makes it efficient and easy to carry around.

To me, the Nexus 10 is an inferior device. Simply because it has a fixed amount of storage. Cloud is useless when you leave the house, OTG adapters are pointless when you're trying to walk around with it or use public transport. With the TF700, I have two 64GB MicroSD's extra on top of the 64GB internal, an USB port that supports my 2TB flashdrive (the OTG adapter on the nexus just gives "Voltage too high" on any flashdrive.), 9 more hours of battery and a keyboard and trackpad that doesn't eat my battery even more. (which bluetooth, wifi and USB does.)
For all that, i'll wait the extra second it aparently takes for things to load. Besides, it's still a full 10 seconds faster than that snail of a GT2 10.1...
And, and this is my personal opinion; feel free to disagree, it's ugly as hell. Looks like a cheap plastic toy you buy at Toys 'R Us... At least the TF700 look sleek and modern (and scifi-y).

What are you on about? Mine always sits on my lap, with the dock, for a whole 6.5 hours a day minimum. It has never fallen over. Not even once. Either it's because I have the better balanced TF201 dock, or you just want an angle that physics doesn't allow.

Samsung "announced" the Tab 3 last week. But it will have a Dual core, 2gb RAM and *shudder* 1280x800. Which essentially makes it rubbish. All it has over the Tab 2 is 1GB more RAM. Not worth the upgrade.
I got a question guys I am stuck between deciding between these two tablets. I love my Galaxy S3 because of the ease of flashing, the display, great battery life and development. I checked out and was impressed with the tab 2 10.1 and am going to check out the TF700 tomorrow. I am getting the tablet for reading magazines, books, and streaming videos I have on my computer/tversity during bedtime (some of which are MKVs)
How would you guys say the battery life compared on the two machines?

How would you guys say the battery life compared on the two machines?
How would you say the display compares?

Samsung and Asus just announced their new Tabs that are coming out sometime within the 3rd Qtr of this year
If you could, I would wait, the Sammy looks amazing, not much for details on the Asus yet

Looks like they have finally found a supplier of high resolution displays.

That's what my cousin told me but I note it's a NOTE not a tab...if it's like the previous notes I still would like to know more about the TF700 vs the Tab 2 10.1
I don't like the note, I don't need it for S-pen or note taking and I felt like it's battery life isn't up to par with the other two either.
Could someone who has had both reply to those two questions?

DO NOT GET THE TAB 2 10.1.
Worst money I ever spend.
It's sluggish as hell, the resolution is a horrendous 1280x800 and it can't read 95% of all external storage devices. Input is very unresponsive if you're used to the snappyness of a higher-end device like the s3. (half the time ot doesn't register untill I actually apply pressure.) Screen is also rather dark.
Haven't had the chance to try the 3 yet, but the only advantage that has its one GB more RAM.
As for the tf700, it lags on occasion, but still runs laps around the gt2 10.1. And you can use it without having to draw the curtains.
The new note tab is looks very sweet, but samsung has no experience with HD on a tablet, or that resolution anywhere at all. (1280x800 is not HD unless you're blind.) So i would wait to see what that does anyway .
Wait for the new Transformer, with a bit of luck they solved the I/O lag.

Damn....wow you just 180'd me you crazy Dutch woman But your response was a little biased 1280x800 can definitely be considered HD. I benchmark Diablo 3 Youtube cinematics on that resolution when I'm in store
The three is the same as the 2, 1 more gig ram and 1 hour less battery life. Not a good reception
Can I ask did you root and install a custom AOSP or CM rom on it by chance or are you basing your TAB 2 10.1 experience on stock? That's what I plan on doing from day 1 and what I based my experience with my S3 on? I would never run an ATT Verizon bloated version of a tab and judge based n that
Is she wrong guys with coming off a little hard, can someone else who is running AOSP preferably comment on the snappiness? In store it really seemed great to be frank.
Hi all i wont to buy Galaxy Note 10.1 and i wont to ask is it worth it i am a gamer and i wont to play this HD games and Order and Chaos can it hold it on high graph.. and what is bad and good in this Galaxy Note 10.1
If you are mostly interested in playing games then I'd look at other tabs...
The main feature of the Note 10.1 is the s-pen. It is good for school work and business but if you want to play HD games there are other cheaper alternatives....
I use mine to watch video's and movies too and find no problem but utilise the s-pen for a variety of things. If I didn't need the s-pen and the phone functions then I would have looked at cheaper alternatives..

I would recommend going to a Best Buy if there is one near you and comparing the Note 10.1 to other tablets. The Note 10.1 is undoubtedly an awesome tablet! I considered buying one myself for a while. I have also considered a Nexus 10, as it's another great choice! With that said, I chose the Asus Infinity over the Note 10.1. I bought it before the Nexus 10 came out, but considered buying the Nexus 10 as well, and then possibly selling my Asus Infinity. I did my research on the two, and chose not to get the Nexus 10. I'm very happy with my Infinity!! I had the Asus Prime before the Infinity, and I feel like Asus makes outstanding tablets! Asus makes awesome phones too for that matter. I actually wish Sprint offered the Asus PadFone 2, as that would no doubt be my current phone!! Asus is also among the first, if not the first, manufacturers to release software updates for their products! The display on the Infinity is full HD and absolutely gorgeous! Not I, or anyone else, can tell you what tablet to get, only you can decide what tablet suits you the best! Just make sure to do your research on them first to see what's gonna work best for you. Check out YouTube videos as well! Also, if flashing is something your gonna be doing, be sure to check out their forums here on XDA and see which developers are cooking for which devices. See what rom and kernel options are out there, as well as themes and mods. Just all boils down to what your needs are, what your wants are, and what you will ultimately using the device for! Either way, good luck with your decision, and I hope you enjoy whatever you get!!
EDIT: FOR GAMING: I can tell you first hand that the Infinity is a beast!! Dead Trigger with the Sixaxis app and a PS3 controller is awesome(just to name 1 game, which is my favorite)!! Even though I have an XBOX 360 and a PS3, I often hook up my Infinity with its HDMI port built in to the side of the tablet, and play on my 55" Sony LED TV! It's absolutely amazing!! If anyone walks in the room, they never believe that I'm playing from my tablet and not a console!! I play Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, Horn, ShadowGun THD, ShadowGun: DeadZone, Modern Combat 4, Max Payne, NOVA 3, Asphalt 7, Need For Speed Most Wanted, Sonic 4 THD, Beach Buggy Blitz, Shine Runner, and on and on, etc. etc. They all look and play amazingly well on the Infinity!! I don't even play Most Wanted on my Evo LTE anymore, only on my Infinity! I expected the tilt steering to be awkward and cumbersome on a 10" tablet compared to my 4.7" Evo LTE, and just assumed I would use the touch screen for steering. I was pleasantly surprised when I first tried it and found that tilt steering was actually better on my tablet than on my phone!!

I had an Asus Infinity and hated the thing, the lag was unbearable, and that was running a custom rom which was an improvement. Gaming was good, and the hdmi out was a plus but not used very much. Also there are some games that are not compatible with it due to resolution. The note although lower resolution is so much snappier. I would definitely not recommend any of the Asus tablets.
In total agreement, I will never purchase another Asus tablet. The Prime was the worst technology buying experience I have ever had. Never again...NEVER!

So far so good I have been running most high end games without lags. I would say am pretty much satisfied with its gaming performance.

If gaming is your main concern wait a little for the new nexus 7 device should be out in two months or so, nexus devices seem to perform well when it comes to gaming
