So I bought a Verizon Galaxy off of Craigslist, as I wasn't due for an upgrade. I was able to activate the phone just fine and I checked the water damage sticker behind the battery, all was good. About a week later I started getting the "Mobile Network Not Available" error. I've had Verizon replace the SIM card 3 times and all three times the phone would work intermittently. I contacted Samsung and sent it in for repair, they marked it as "Liquid Damage on PBA Components" and marked it as "Beyond Economical Repair. Does anyone know if the PBA is the mobo? And possibly where to find one. I've found the SIM tray available for purchase but I don't know if this is the right fix. I talked to a cell phone repair tech and he said since it's only the phone functionality intermittently that I could clean the corrosion off of the board with Acetone. Anyone have any recommendations for me? Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.
P.S. The phone is being delivered to me today.

ok so heres the deal.... I beleive my antenna is broken. I was having problems getting no service off and on for about 3 weeks. It would randomly start and stop the mobile service. Wifi would work fine. Most of the time the service would be off during the day and then about 3-4am it would connect. I went to a local mobile repair place and i beleive between them and my self we have determined it to be the antenna. my sim card works in other devices. other sims do NOT work in my device. I have unlocked the device to help determine the issue. It reads any sim card fine. Just wont connect to service.
so heres the real issue. I took the phone apart. It does look like the antenna is damaged. at the bottom of the phone where the wire from the mother board connects to the antenna has contacts that touch the case. Looks like the 2 little gold contacts right after the soldierd connection is bad. I do NOT have enough confidence to repair such an item. The repair shop i took it to says that they cant do it beacuse they cant get the parts. So what do i do?
I cant afford to buy a new $400 phone, especially only because of a flake of mettal fell off. Anyone have any suggestions? All would be greatly appreciated. I really miss my phone. Basically its like an ipod now.. lol
I think I have the same problem. I made a thread last week about it. I tried everything to try to fix it. I am gonna send my phone into HTC next week.

Hi guys, im very depressed because my Samsung s5 cant connect to any carrier. Btw im Indonesian and i was on a field trip to America for some 2 weeks and i bought my s5 at shop, i successfully unlock my phone so it could connect with any carrier here in Indonesia. the problem started yesterday when i took a shower and decided to listen to some music while showering and then my phone fell down from a height of 1 meter, it got a small dent and also it was wet, i rushed it to a dry cloth and dried out my phone, i took everything out battery, simcard, sd card and totally dried them out then i assembled them back and it was just working fine, i could still see my carrier and contacts can still be seen, several minutes later my phone restarted on its own and then no carrier was seen i checked the contacts all god dam gone , it just says NO SIM CARD, i tried reseting my phone no chance but SD card works just fine.
could it be a glitch? or the SIM CARD TRAY IS DAMAGED? AND IF IT IS COULD IT BE REPLACED ?
SAMSUNG S5 G900A AT&T 16GB
Hi,
This definitely sounds like damage from the fall perhaps, but more likely from water that got in. A service center is likely your only hope. Powering on the device so soon was a mistake unfortunately... As water can make its way slowly to just the right spot, and then something gets fried. Next time, try the disassemble and put in a bag of rice for 2 or 3 days method. Before ever powering it on. That's the usual recommendation. There's other methods too.
Usually it can get costly chasing down fixes for a water damaged device, and it was dropped too... The antenna may be loose also. Sometimes it's best to save your money for a new device. As you can have one thing fixed, only to discover more is wrong. Water is evil for electronics.
But for other opinions, you can ask here...

Good luck!

Oh ya i forgot to say, its works fine when connecting to the wifi and the dent i forgot to mention is actually on th bottom left corner, also why didnt it affect the SD CARD ? cuz when i saw it, it is on the same tray with the sim card, is it possible that the sim card tray can be replaced ? and spare parts for it ? how much do you think will it cost roughly ?
If it could be replaced will it affect the network like will it drawback to 3g instead of 4g?
You'll need to ask in the thread I linked above. ?
Hi guys,
Would love some advice. I bought my brother a nexus 5 and he used it for a few weeks. Then one day the signal just shows empty triangle. Won't connect to cell network at all. I tried flashing it to upgrade to newer rom, and even tried downgrade to different stock Roms from Google, and nothing has made the signal come back. I also tried new SIM cards. Didn't work. Then I Took a working sim out of my phone and tried it in the nexus 5... Still nothing. I have no clue what else to do. Is this a hardware problem? Anyone else ever see this happen before? I'll try any suggestions and report back.

Sounds like you have a imei issue.
Open the phone app, dial in *#06#. If your IMEI shows as "0" read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60421668&postcount=26
Sounds more like phone got blacklisted and you got scammed
Thanks for the advice. I'll check into both and report back.
My imei is displaying fine. I checked it online and the swappa ESN check reports it is clean. I also tried opening the back and disconnecting / reconnecting the antenna wire. Still nothing. Anything else to try?
Did you check other sites to check for blacklisted imei numbers? Does the imei in the phone match Imei on the phone box or sticker attached to the back cover?

The Imei Doesn't match the box. When I was taking a second look at the antenna cable - I found something! I think someone repaired it in the past, and probably did a crappy job. On the main board, just northwest of the antenna cable, you can see some traces leading to another component. And along those traces, there is a blob of solder. I cleaned it off with a qtip and some alcohol, still no joy. But glad to at least understand what the hell is going on a little more. I ordered a scrap phone off the internet for cheap, and I'm going to assemble a frankenphone. Hopefully it will all work great at that point. I'll report back.
Got a phone that was fully working, but had a cracked screen for a good price. Swapped in my screen, bam. Problems gone. Thanks guys.
Glad to hear you got the phone fixed. I also have a phone with a smashed screen. Just looking to find a cheap used N5 with a good screen.
Hi
I have a rooted Galaxy note 5 phone SM-N920C model.
Some water got into my phone and i had to take it to a phone shop to get it fixed its was working fine after the water damage but the power button had to be pressed hard to work.
the repair guy told me he had to replace several some parts i think some cpus.
After i got my phone my sim would work and then randomly stop working and i couldn't make calls nor will mobile data work. Then randomly it would work again and stop randomly.
i tried my sim in another phone and it was working fine, even tried my friend's in my phone and it had the same problem.
An important thing that i found is that the model in my device info has changed from SM-N920C to SM-G935T Aka Samasung S7 Edge.
after a couple of days i figured out that outside the house the mobile network works fine but inside it it doesn't might have to do with the signal i'm getting from the device. So im thinking of this an error from the guy who fixed it so i'm going to return it to him.
Things i did trying to fix it : flash all kind of different roms, unrooted, rerooted and also tried to install S7 Edge roms also tried the S7 Edge stock rom.
Thank you for reading ,

Hey everybody!
I just got my phone back from being repaired from water damage. HTC U11 plus.
Everything is working fine but the mobile network doesnt connect. I´ve tried everything, turn phone on/off, airplane mode on/off complete reset of phone. The sim card works fine in other phones. Wifi and bluetooth are working.
I´ve contacted the place I had it repaired but no answer yet.
I never rooted the phone cause I never had a reason to, maybe doing so would help solve the issue?
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
i got the same problem with my U11 plus. drop it from bed height. no damage seen physically then after i updated last february no mobile radio network. talk to htc reps ans said to send for repair. bottomline it end up motherboard issue, they replace my motherboard. but heads up it will take one and half for mine to get back.

Thanks for the reply, my phone couldn't be repaired under guarantee so the eBay seller I got it from had it sent for repair somewhere else. Apparently there was a lot of damage and they seemed to have fixed everything but maybe didn't check the SIM card?
