SD card => CPU 100% problem - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have open optimus rom , i use it for a long time, after a clean reinstall and several apps i keep getting this problem:
cpu 100% , i checked the pico TTS (solved) then it reappeard after some time and i can`t make it run less than 100% only if i unmount the sd card.
i mounted another sd card (from my camera with no apps installed) and still 100% .. now i use my phone as a nokia 3310 only to call and text because i can`t use SD card at all..
what can i do ?
i`m sick of flashing everythng again and arrange my icons and make it as i am used to it bla bla...

Get an app from play store to see CPU usage. learn what actually causes CPU spike. and please specify the rom u are using

i see the cupu usage with quick system info and the statusbar icon shows 100% but in aplications that are running all is fine.
i konw it`s 100% because of batterylife and stuff....
i am using OpenOptimus 2.2 or something (the updated one by ciaox) i think i`s a good Rom, this new ones all have bugs, i don`t want bugs to limit me for the sake of "fashion"
today i did factory reset twice and it doesent start up properly (i cant use it) i have to flash new ROM anyway

Scoot CyanogenMod (RLS5.5) - this setup is not dead

Like i've posted in the setup thread from Liquid, this setup is the best i've tried until now, the only one that make missing call an old history in fact
Another better than ever pola 100 nand / nand setup
Download rom (5.5 version - 6 doesn't work with polaris kernel) : Scoot CyanogenMod (RLS5.5) [16.03.2011] and put it on your sdcard in a directory named andboot (at the root level)
with atool download the latest 2.6.32 kernel, modify it as desired
flash your unlocked phone following this tutorial or use atool scripting ability
update needed : none
work : everything except camera !!!! very smooth and very reliable(no missed call for 1 week, that's a revolution) and not so bad battery life
finally, development kernel seems to be not so far from "ready to production" status, with even better nand stability
we're waiting rom update and next krazykilla's kernel with polaris support, for a better stability and ability tu put data on ext4 partition
Thank you to scooter, liquid nr2jt and all androidhtccrew for their tuff work
Nand is not perfect and run corruption sometime that crash your setup : use the nand startup "backup/restore" data ability after you have configured your rom and favorite applications, to avoid loss of everything : it will create a 256Mb image of nand memory in your SD card /andboot directory that you can restore later in case of crash.
you can increment this backup later if you are happy with future modification of your rom
TIPS : noticed that setup as it is is good enough, people at cyanogenmod know their business
- Tip 1 : in atool, you can try to increase advanced battery capacity to improve accuracy because N2jrt has noticed battery calculation is not good and there's a correction factor of 1.6 to apply (i put 1900 but you can increase to 2200 in theory)
- Tip 2 : you can download Roguetool from the market to overclock your phone
- Tip 3 : try the app named killerauto from the market, it does a very good job with very comprehensive settings to free your ram in real time (and increase battery life)
- Tip 4 : In cynogenmod parameters/performance : check the "keep home in memory option" and activate compcache (10%) to get better result - i don't activate JIT
- Tip 5 : i've noticed that's the battery widget is cause of some trouble sometime, you can get rid of it in this case
what's next
- make polaris' atool development kernel compatible with release 6 : thx to scooter and liquid by advance
- Make crazykilla kernel with ext4 support available for polaris (release from his #54 thread doesn't work for me) or maybe unified every kernel to get the best one
crazykilla's kernel is a usual kernel without the polaris support compiled, i don't know why the #54 version don't work and i can't test it anymore (my polaris has a toasted nand).

Blinking screen
I've tried it with my XDA Orbit II and all I get is the white blinking screen after running haret. It's written in the man that it takes a lot of time, so I left it and went to sleep When I woke up, the screen was still blinking the same way and had to remove the battery to reboot. WM booted fine, there were files system.img and data.img created on the microsdcard of the size of 300mb (I don't want to flash it on NAND as it is my first attempt to install new software on phone). I tried Froyo, now trying Eclair and after an hour it looks the same. What might be wrong? Should I try stable kernel or other setups?

i don't know such setup sorry, i work on nand only to get real speed
I don't want to try flashing on NAND until I find a setup that would satisfy me and work well as I would in practice lose the phone for some time while trying to make it work. So far I've succesfully installed this, but I can't make the PIN code work. I tried to disable it in WM in phone settings, but when I do it, it requires me to enter the PIN, and doesn't accept it, just as Android does :/ Does the PIN code problem occurs in NAND installation as well?
this setup is really not ready. i tried so many times and it always hangs and at the end you'd be reinstalling the system back. I'm sticking back to the Not-So-Super-Froyo setup and has since found it to be very very stable although no camera and no GPS working on it. Just a bit of tip to all those who try and occasionally reinstall, after you have found a good stable setup, install your basic favorite apps and games, then get reboot the phone, access the Android Boot Menu and choose Backup Data on the choices. The system will save your stable setup on an image file on your sdcard. So anytime you have a system crash, you can just choose to Restore Data from the Boot Menu. Saves you a lot of installation.

what kernel do you use ? i use liquid's 2.6.25 + kernel update
I finally follow your advise and came back to "not so super" and begin to use the "backup data" function...
The best setup so far
I've tried deactivating in WM, but that doesn't work as I've written above. I also tried to disable PIN using my friend's LG AT&T and it didn't work either so I guess I have to try some PC software or go to my service provider and ask them to do it. Thanks for replies.

lol i've read about the 2.6.25 working camera several times yet i chose to follow the blunt idea that "everything current is best ever" setup.
Anyway ill follow your advise now hehe and finally will have a working camera back again. anyway we have a backup hehe. Thanks man!!!

yeah that's why i try other roms today (i'm in a rom rush ) to see if situation is better with backup trick
i saw the great nr2jt say in a topic that he save is data every morning to prevent its loss
that's why i give another try with scoot 5.5 with liquid's 2.6.32
Hey liquid do something for us to use 6 release
post 1 updated
After numerous builds+kernels, loads of frustration (and the inevitable revert to wm for a while) I think I like this setup. Simplicity at its best, Scoot CyanogenMod (RLS5.5) and latest 2.6.32 from atools as per 1st post. Just re-purposed the camera button as 'home'. Even my headset works, albeit intermittently.
Which settings for ATools for pola200?
Hi,
i tried to install this rom on my german pola200. But on the Linux Bootscreen the text is scrolling down and sayes that it installs the rom. But than it scrolls down error messages.
I tried this for houres but it shows no final error or something. The Text is scrolling on and on.
So i think that i used the wrong settings in atool. I used this tutorial to set up atool: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/androidhtc/wiki/HowToInstallWithAtoolsNand
What settings should been used?:
- What version to select?: Donut, Eclair or Froyo?
- Best settings for sd-card-partition? I used first partition 3 gb fat32, second partition 1 gb ext2.
- where should i install system and data? Both on second sd-partition? Or should there be a third partition? (the first time i tried to install the system on intern memory but install runs out of space)
Can you please explain the right settings in atool?
best version is froyo.
to choose sd-card partition, you must have your sdcard PREPARED beforehand. Atool does not partition your sdcard for you. As of what to use to partition your sdcard you can search it at google. (im sorry im a little bit short on time now). choose NAND on both system and DATA.
atools has sd partioner inside so you can repart sd card (boot script editor Y), but the sdcard must have only one partition on it (fat32).
i stand corrected thanks l1qu1d.

Hi
I have installed this ROM for the last few days now
It is really one of the very good work i have tried yet
I am facing few problems @XenoMorphv2 look if these can be solved
1- I think mounts2sd and busybox is installed during ROM installation due to which under Settings>Storage - System Storage Total 1GB and Used 497MB whereas after installing one or two applications when I try to install few applications it says in-sufficient internal space
2- Whenever I change the theme, The theme is reverted back to the default after few minutes or an hour. I think launcher crashes or restarts it self or what ever
3- Battery timing is quite low
4. While performing An Tu Tu benchmark the phone crashes/reboots during tests
Check if these could be solved

just the os possible?

Just recently rooted my old Samsung S4 with help from this forum. What i am looking to do is use it as an mp3 player only. its not activated to any cell phone service and only use able on wifi. What i would like to know/do is clear out as much memory as possible. is there a way to get just the min operating system? the reason i would like to do this is because rhapsody allows me to download songs and play them when and where wifi is not available. im not really interested in any other apps. Thanks for any help.
OSes with just the essential apps are known as BareBone ROMs.
Install a barebone Kitkat ROM on it and use Dalvik Runtime.
Stay away from Lollipop or Marshmallow ROMS because ART Runtime needs more internal storage.
And if you couldn't find any barebone ROMs, simply install CyanogenMod 11 on it and remove the unwanted stuff manually with some app like Titanium backup.
Also underclock the processor to 1GHz or something for better battery life .
ok will look into that. will installing a rom like that erase all internal memory? like formatting a pc hard drive and reinstalling the OS? thanks for the help
If you want more internal memory, you can use chinese PIT file... But i must warm you, it's dangerous! Your phone can be bricked!! Otherwise if you want more battery life use airplane mode. It will close network. Still you can open Wifi... Underclock CPU...

(Discussion) DOUBTS I GOT

( i am new to this Flashing and if these questions were already answered anywhere please give me links i will study :highfive: )
15 days back i chose Cm13 nightly, installed Gapps .. There are somethings i didnt Understand, but i blindly Followed the Tutorials , although they helped me installing everything right.. i got some doubts left in my mind .. Can anyone please make big-heart and clear my doubts :silly:
1) When ever i UPGRADE to a new Nightly, All of my previously flashed zips ( moto camera, xposed framework .. etc ) vanish , But the Apps which i installed from Playstore and 3rdparty APKS are present .. WHY ?? is it normal ?
2) Whats up with these Clearning Cache/Dalvik and DATA .. what do they actually DO?? When do we need to perform?? ( before installing zips or after installing zips? what will they delete?? )
3)( i dont get it right, because i use a PC with Windows, when we are formatting it.. even though when we format every partition [i mean literally there is nothing in HDD]and install NEW os from USB or CD .. the OperatingSystem gets copied from those USB/CD ) is it the same case with this ANDROID (copies from SD card?)?? or do we need OS running properly in background ( to make CWM/TWRP work) ?? what happens if we install a ROM from Internal memory( incase if we dont have memorcard slot like nexus phones) ?? :cyclops:
4)If i am having a GAPPS version Old, if i want to update those.. what happens when we flash GAPPS latest version ( consider Open gapps) ? Does it cause anyproblem or Will it remove present GAPPS and install Latest version with out any problem ..
These are my doubts Will anyone please explain ?
1. Every nightly (or whatever upgrade via rom.zip) cleans up and places updated system files in /system.
To survive it, some, like gapps place a script in addon.d folder that automatically copies the file to another location and then restores after flashing nightly.
2. Cant explain myself, lol have a look here, it contains the definitions-
https://m.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/sthr8/dirty_flashing_what_it_is_and_is_not_lets_set_the/
3. Twrp just extracts the zip and places the files in correct directories, often assigning them correct permissions too. In case of android, the system files are placed in /system directory (the location is different, it is something like /dev/mmcblkXX, check the first lines in twrp when upgrading it would be like 'found ext4 /dev/mmcblkXX'. That partition is mounted to /system).
Android kernel is Linux-based which itself is Unix-like so a cool concept can be remembered as-
Everything in Unix is a file.(Google it your fascinated )
So it will work regardless of where you keep the zip file, only thing is that twrp should have full access to it. And like in windows, you may be able to even swap out /system with your internal storage just like we choose the partition to be C:\ .(i think it's theoretically possible they all are just storage spaces).
And, the operating system does not run in background while in recovery, think of it like an embedded os dual booted with android. Its totally independent of the current operating system. (You think ,if the os were needed to work in background, then how twrp could install a new rom over it, or still work after formatting /system?)
4. And at last, installing a newer gapps over older one automatically removes the older gapps and flashes the latest one (In case of opengapps you can see the twrp progress log when installing 'removing current/obsolete gapps' or similar ). I only tested it on opengapps pico.
I can't say it would be safe to install two different gapps over one another without a dirty flash (like bank gapps over opengapps). But note that you should clear dalvik&cache after flashing, if not done automatically.

@Gravemind2015 One thanx isnt enough for your INFO :good:
i got a mild doubt,
Does flashing Nightlies Daily effect our Memory ( internal/ Os related memory - like Formatting a USB Pendrive more times will decrease its Lifetime )
Is there any limit or should we even consider the number of times we Flash Roms into our phone?? Does it harm our devices??

It does effect as they are permanent (block based) storages, just as SSD drives, and then we also have to consider that we are not supposed to touch system partition by phone makers.
But we need not care. The phone will go on for years (many like defy or htc dream, evo 3d still work fine today) before having bad blocks in storage.

Sure, it will shorten the life of the phone. It may crash in 20 years or 5 minutes but no one really knows. It should take many more writes than you'll ever give it.

Always about 100% CPU usage... :/

Hey, I got a little problem with my Tab2 10.1 - with different ROMs and even with stock firmware, I always get nearly 100% CPU usage by "other processes".
Im getting that information by the app "System Panel 2". And the tab runs like sh*t... What can I do now? Im not that new to rooting and flashing, but something like this never happend to me... :crying:
Its a Tab 2 10.1 WiFi (P5110)...
I tried:
- (clean) flash of different ROMs
- (dirty) flash of old backups
- wipe of everything (incl. Internal Storage etc...)
- flashing stock FW with Odin
- tried phh's superuser instead of SuperSU
- tried in terminal "setenforce 0" (or something like that)
Some flashes run the first minutes like always and some of them are from the beginning sh*tty to use, cant even open settings app...
Hope anyone got an idea for that problem :/

Finally I got it!!! I dont know why, but it was my SD Card... I unplugged it and boom, no problems anymore...
I wiped the SD Card and now I can use it like before without this weired problem. Huh...
SD card formatting stopped high CPU on custom ROM. Thanks!
Thank you!
This solved my problem with a custom rom (NAOSPROM 7.1.2 december with OpenGapps pico) on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.
After installing gave me alternating high CPU after a reboot. One time reboot gave a low CPU and than next time high.
'Simple OS Monitor' (great tool) just showed system_server around 16-17% hardly ever lower. Stopping almost all non essential system apps and all user apps. Didn't make any difference. Even removing SD card.
A network reset seemed to do something, but hardly.
But then after formatting SD card, putting back the files I had stored there, except the Android .secure android folder, I rebooted and all was well. CPU usage of system_server went from 17 to 1 % and total CPU to normal
So Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 works well with NAOSPROM 7.1.2 custom rom ... but don't forget to format your SD (when you experience high CPU usage).
Just in case somebody finds this information. Like I did yours.
