Can you put Android on Iphone

Didnt see anything in a search for this. Is there anyway to put Android on the iphone, anyone know a tutorial or anything?

Now that would be an improvement!!

Everything is possible if a talanted developer puts enough man hours into it. It won't run smoothly with all the missing drivers and such, but it is doable.

android on the Leo would be much cooler IMO!

it's not possible.
the iphone os is protected by security certificates.
it was a lot of work developing the jailbreak, through an exploit in the os.
not to mention what work would be to port the complete Android OS.
but why would you do that anyway? Buy a device dedicated to what you need for optimum performance.

If you don't actually care about running WM and want an exclusively android device, rumor has it that HTC will be releasing a 1GHz Android device which may be similar to the Leo, so you might want to wait a while. Besides, Android would run much better on a device with a native Android bootloader and compatible hardware (meaning no tweaks to get it working).

I don't think anyone outside HTC knows the answer to that, only that it will probably be in a while. However, they (may) have a prototype, as shown here, which is a good sign developmentally.

I think Android on iPhone would be pretty sweet too. The iPhone is a nice piece of hardware, but I am a die-hard Android user.
I've done a lot of Google searching, and it seems like there is no news after they got the Linux kernel to run with openiBoot. The HTC Dream (T-Mobile G1) and the iPhone both use ARM11-family processors. I imagine that porting the Java VM over wouldn't be that hard for someone who knows what they're doing.
Kind of sad, really. I would proudly rock an Android iPhone.

As far as i know none of those phones support AT&T 3G or even less 4G. Would be pretty awesome.

I have an HD2 that can run 6.5, 7, or Android it is a Telstra version so it gets ATT 3g in many areas just Google ATT 3g 850 map and see if you're in their area. If you're interested I'm selling it.

i'm rather curious about the possibilities as well coz the phone is sweet on it's own (despite the fact it has to run Android out of the box) and the 3G/4G incentive would be a fantastic Windows-based alternative for this configuration/design... just sayin' ('',)

While I can respect the desire to try something completely silly like this just to see if it can be done, you should expect that you may, and very probably will, brick your phone. Unlike Android, the code for Windows is not just out there. Putting Windows on a device it isn't certified for will likely fail because you won't have a proper set of drivers for the device. But I have tried silly things like this in the past with Linux putting it on devices it wasn't intended for with some success and the fun is sometimes all that matters.
I can't think of a single compelling reason I would want windows mobile on any phone I ever get unless they suddenly come up with a good blend of business and enthusiast features with WM7 doesn't seem to offer, but to each their own.

If you're interested, this might be fun. Not a rom, and not the same. But interesting.

I installed Launcher 7 on my Inspire. It's surprisingly pretty decent. It's free, so there's no risk involved.

if the iPhone can run iOS and android with a loader on boot, why would it be so hard to make it for an inspire? way more open then ios development.

I want this too as did a bunch of nexus one users, there's already a thread about it over there. But the answer is no, it isn't gonna happen as there are no drivers, windows phone is closed and can't get ported.

It is really impractical for one thing. The hd2 was a windows mobile device with a completely different bootloader. I believe they were able to use a modified bootloader to do it. We would need to somehow port over the bootloader from the Samsung focus. Unfortunately modifying bootloaders is very dangerous. If it doesn't work you brick. We would brick a lot of devices. So with the price we pay for the bricked phones we might as well buy a Samsung focus.

Wrong section perhaps for such a question?
The basic approach, or concept if you may, in my opinion, is completely opposite.
Like comparing apples to oranges.
HD2 is a Windows Phone to which Android was ported for dual-boot.
Where as, Nexus S is an Android phone and to port Windows Phone 7 to it would be an entirely different ball game.
Even to try dual booting.
Doubt if it'd be a worthwhile effort.
One can never really say.
Probably a far better idea to try and port Android to the Samsung Focus than do Phone 7 on the Nexus S.

As soon as you can talk Microsoft into open-sourcing the WP7 platform it will be done. The main reason Android was ported to the HD2 is because Android is open source and it made it possible.

This idea has been proposed before on XDA for another phone, and the thread was shut down due to it being illegal.

I dont think there is dev enough to do that, and i think we need the SD card to Dual boot. Bot maybe its possible to port WP7, but we need a dev that want to work on it.
But hey! Its sound awesome to have WP7 on NS, is miss it alot from my old HD2 (sold now )

It's possible if it is not on XDA. it is illegal and considered piracy as WP7 is closed source, android is open source software so you can modify.

You just have to clap your hands and say "I DO believe in WP7..."

I don't think that's ever the nexus s will have WP7.
All WP7 devices has the same hardware, the Snapdragon CPU, same RAM etc..
The Omnia 7 also as well.

The new Mango update fully supports the Nexus S hardware, but I doubt it will be available for a number of reasons, the 2 best reasons being:
1: It's closed source
2: Unless we got an unbrickable thing like the captivate, I doubt we would come far anyway, or at least we would need many Nexus S devices.

Essentially why my next phone will be a Samsung. Samsung is way more dev friendly. HTC absolutely f***ed the development on the vivid, even though its a top notch phone. They used to be king of the hill for devs, not anymore.

Sony is the most dev friendly companie I ever saw. Unlock bootloader to all devices, from the beggining, rent devices for developement, release camera libs and such.

After their multiple fiascos over the years with other products I won't trust them for a second... think "other OS" on the playstation. a feature they advertised and sold customers based on and then revoked in a later software update.

What fiascos? Their phones with single core while the rest was with dual core last year? Or their updates? The learned from 2010. They release ICS for ALL their devices, with a awesome software tweaks that made their devices could follow other dual core competitors. And the UI is not heavy like TouchWiz and Sense neither ugly.
For prices, they're not cheap, just like all of their devices, but they make it premium. And stop a little and take a look at the rumours for their next big phones, Hayabusa and Mint. They will blow away One X and SIII.

I listed one of the fiascos in the reply I made, I could add their rootkit fiasco on CDs a while back... or others.
They haven't screwed over android users yet, but their company has a long history of screwing people over on every other product they've made, I don't want to be involved when they decide to do it on a phone.

Plus sueing the guys who created the PS3 jailbreak (Geohot, failoverflow), going after another guy who contributed to running Other OS on updated PS3 devices (graf_chokolo).Oh and removing otheros in the first place.
Yeah, Sony sure are dev friendly.

Back to topic, yes the whole idea of s-off seems like a common place term, however, this is only because the manufacturer is creating road blocks and locks that keep us from doing what we want. Security and locks make sense, but for the user who understands the risks but simply wants to create custom distributions or simply upgrade firmware on their own schedule there should be a solution with understanding.

No, this is still false. Sony killed off their own dev community. I don't recall exactly what device(s) it was, but I remember a HUGE fiasco involving them which resulted in tons and tons of devs deserting Sony.

No, security and locks like that do NOT make sense. Samsung SHIPS with unlocked bootloaders, and they don't seem to be having too many problems with it because they keep doing it. HTC makes you jump through hoops just to flash a recovery or kernel every time you want a new ROM.

I am not exactly familiar with other samsung devices but I know that the Galaxy Nexus you have to physically connect the phone in fastboot and enter an unlock command...

You think HTC phones are harder to unlock? Motorola's phones are the hardest sobs to be unlocked. If you go back a few years, you'll see that almost every motorola phone required a hardware box or a very specific and hard to find software to be unlocked.

S-off is security off. Samsung doesn't have any security on their device. This is why samsung phones are so easy to unlock.
HTC unlock is really horrible way of doing things. Because of the boot img which is basically the kernel is blocked as well. If you ever looked in the kernel and at source a lot of stuff that is actually useful to the power user is turned off in the stock kernel. Especially latest Linux kernel patches.

Hey guys so I was reading around on xda and found a thread for the hd7 saying that it would be possible because in windows phone it now supports multi core processors and a lot of stuff that android phones have what do you guys think of this

Doesn't look like it's gonna happen man. The HD7 is a Windows 7 Phone which makes porting an OS like Win 8 somewhat simple. Getting Windows 8 on an Android device is going to take a deep knowledge of both systems and a lot of time. Hell, it might even be impossible, though on XDA I don't know if that word exists.

im pretty sure it would be illegal be cause of licensing concerns not that some of the brillant minded people couldnt do, I just think that that aspect would scare most people off

Windows phone has a set of hardware guidelines it has to meet. Only supports up to 512mb ram, 480x800 res, 1.5 single core cpu. Or at least that's what is was when I had mine. It world be really rough.

Legality and Drivers would probably be a good starting place of why it wouldnt be worth doing. Why would ANYONE waste their time doing something like this? Might as well just spend the money on a Win 8 Device. It would be like porting over IOS. Just no point.

There are huge hardware issues. There are no drivers to make our hardware work with WP8, and would have to be made from scratch.
Plus, WP is closed source. So that greatly complicates the work needed to port it over. May also bring up some legal and licensing issues, as already mentioned.
The huge amount of effort and time is exactly what prevents WP OS being ported to any Android device. This questions gets asks for just about any Android device "can we port WP". Technically anything is "possible". But the huge amount of work means that nobody is going to be willing to port it over. Why go through all that work? It would be much easier to just buy a Windows Phone.

Or use one if the launchers in the play store that can give you the look and feel of wp.

launcher will give the look not the feel.
wp is way more fluid and animated than andorid.
it's just the way wp works its awesome.
