I just recently got a Nexus 4, and my girlfriend got a Galaxy S3 for christmas. I know the S3 doesn't have native wireless charging (requires some sort of adapter to the pinout under the back cover, I think?), but I was wondering if there's either: A) a way I can add wireless charging to the S3 that would be compatible with the recently released charging orb through the play store, or B) an option that would somehow work for both, if the S3 can't be made compatible with the orb.
I made an effort to search through other questions to make sure this hadn't been asked before, so forgive me if it has and I missed it!
Rumors have it that Samsung is developing a kit, if its Qi compatible then all Qi chargers will work with it.
The real place to ask the question is in the S3 forums. If they make it Qi youre good, if not then its on them.
I got the adapter from fast tech for the S3 (cheapest I could find it at $15 including shipping) for my Boyfriend's S3. I have a Nexus 4. Once the adapter and my Qi chargers arrive I will report back and let you know. I did not order the orb, but I did get the cheap $35 one from fast tech, and the double Duracell one from amazon.
I think I should get at least the adapter and the double duracell one next week. We also have a variety of cases for the s3 to test with.
I'm hoping that orb will work for galaxy s3. Not only I'm getting useless nexus 4i also ordered the orb. My wife might kill me. Lol. We got Verizon and at least a year and a half on contract left.

I'm using the cheapo uniden qi charger for the iPhone with my nexus 4. Got it at walgreens drug store for like 12$ and hacked for the n4 it works perfectly.

I'm using the Energizer dual charger (Qi certified) to charge both my N4 and my wife's GS3. I bought an after market Qi receiver for the GS3 from eBay. It fits under the stock back cover. Works great.
I like the energizer unit since I can do both phones at the same time.

I, too, have an S3 and a N4, which are sharing one wireless charger (Power Qi). I had to buy a Qi receiver and apply it on top of the battery for S3. It makes the back of S3 hump a little bit, but the battery cover still snaps in. Of course, S3 feels heavier too.
That said, things work fine. Charging faster than computer usb 2.0 and slower than wall charger, but I can grab it an run whenever I want.
Review is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181042&page=6
In Vietnam it's about 37 USD per unit and the receiver is about 10 USD.
Just tested my HP Touchpad charger. I got it for my old S3 and for some reason, maybe it was the cable I used, it did not seem to charge as fast as stock.
But I just tested it on my S4 with stock charger and got a true 1900 rate on the charge.
This looks like the one I bought.
$11 shipped @ Amazon. Make sure you buy genuine and not a half-assed Chinese knockoff.

Hello,
Has anyone used HP TouchStone with Galaxy S5 with official wireless charger back, and is it working, and is it working optimally?
The HP TouchStone charger is currently dirt cheap on Amazon UK (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005GYUK1Y) and I was pondering buying several as my main work and home charger stations.
Let me know with your findings!

it does not work.
This post seeks to collect feedback from anyone who have a Qi charging stand, and determine what third-party stands work well with new Amazon fire tablets that have wireless charging capability. More specifically, it's about the positioning of the inductive coils.
If you have tried any charging stand with your HD 8 Plus, please report your experience in the comments to be added to the following list!
Confirmed compatibility:
$39.99 - "Official" Made for Amazon charging stand by ANGREAT
Not Compatible:
None yet.
This Qi charging stand is working well so far:
TYLT VU Wireless Charger
Model: VUBK-T
The Fire HD 8 Plus is finally replacing my Nexus 7 2013 on the stand.
Anyone have any tips or tricks to add wireless charging?
Any mods etc?
For example Qi Adapters. I found some on Amazon

Not sure how effective/safe these are.
Let me know what you guys think.
Wireless charging is a hardware thing, how would you propose to "add" wireless charging to a device neither bult for it, nor has it engineered into the design?
Good luck.

I though about something like that as well, however I don't like it that these retrofits block your USB-C Port. Just because I want to enable my phone to be charged wirelessly, I don't necessarily want to rely on it. Also, I still would like to connect it to other devices and such. So far, I did not find a solution to this problem.

To tell you the truth my main phone is the Note 9, if I had wireless charging I will never use cable. and I use Bluetooth earbuds. so I have no use for the USB C port. But yeah the no wireless charging on the pixel 4a 5G got me down.
Sounds like you have some experimenting to do! Those adapters would be the only option.

Yea, looks like it. I will order one today and let you guys know how it goes.
i haven't used the adapters on the 4a 5g, but i had one for my OG Pixel and it was really a pain. you had to position it very precisely and any little bump or nudge would make it stop charging. it was honestly more of a hassle than just plugging it in. i used it for a couple of months, got sick of it, and went back to a magnetic quick connect cable.
I just use the USB C to C magnetic cables. Bought 3 sets, so there's a cable at work/car/home. Closest thing to "wireless" charging for non Qi phones. Buy them on Amazon

Had one of these on a Samsung phone. They are very slow and generate alot of heat. Not worth it.

Are you still achieving fast charging from them as many don't.
