Ok, so here is another problem I have. Soo sorry if I have tons of questions.
Anyway, I have the Android 4.0.4 baseband version N8000UBLG5 on my n8000 galaxy note 10.1
I was looking at samfirware if they have a stock because I am thinking of reflashing the firmware because it might be the reason why my 64gb memory card can't be read.
And to my surprise, I wasn't able to find a stock firmware.
Q1: Am I right to think that this may be a reason why I am having problems reading the 64gb memory card and no problem reading the 16gb ones?
Q2: How do i find the right firmware to flash for my n8000?
Q3: Is there a step by step guide how to do this? ( I am very used to using odin on the S3, but on the note is a wholel different world)
Thank you guys:good:
You will probably find that formatting the sd card FAT32 will allow the 64gb card to be read... Unfortunately there are a few places where the update to ICS hasn't hit as yet that allows the note 10.1 to use exFAT straight out of the box...
You will need to use a 3rd party app like easius partition manager to format to FAT32 as windows doesn't give this option...
Reverting back to stock firmware will not help you any to use the 64gb sd card...

I have already tried all that, I tried reformatting with my s3, tried using easeUS partition. Still, it doesn't work.
This is how it looks with the 16gb memory card

The thing is, I am in the US, I bought it in amazon because I wanted the wifi and 3g model. How do I know which firmwares i can flash this with? And is it possible to flash this with another region?
AFAIK if it's branded N8000, it's an N8000. As long as it isn't N8000T or some other. Based on that you can flash any country's firmware for the N8000.
Germany is a popular choice since they seem to get updates pushed sooner, I think.
You can use the Trinidad and Tobago firmware (TTT), that's where I'm from.
Samsung doesn't exist on a specific carrier here and is not sold by any authorized dealer or company.
We get our tablets from the North American market as well.
Be warned (?) that the latest firmware here is ICS not JB.
Also, have you tried upgrading your firmware via Kies?

Yes I have and it says that it is the latest firmware. We'll the main reason why i am trying to flash this firmware on my n8000 is because I am having a number of problems:
1) the memory card problem. I can't rule out the reason why it just wont work on a 64gb sandisk microsd XC. I have actually had three replacements and still it does the same thing. And it works fine on my 16gb.
2) The Kno app doesn't work along with a number of other apps( Amazon app doesn't work, I dont have the learning hub, )
3) I want Jellybean ( this is the least of my concerns but who wouldn't want jb, I have jb on my s3 and it is great.)
4) I really want to rule out that the problem with my memory card is a software problem and not a hardware problem because if it is a hardware problem i have, I guess I have to send this thing back to amazon.
One interesting thing i found is this: http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-devices/galaxy-note/10-1/GT-N8000EAABTU-spec
it says that the memory can be expanded only up to 32gb for the n8000. Maybe that is the reason why? its hardware can only ready up to 32gb. Can anybody verify this?
You could try formatting the card with your phone or a camera.
I highly doubt that you have a hardware problem.
The Note officially supports 64 GB by specification at least.
Installing JellyBean ROM will allow you to format and read the card in native exFAT format, which could help.
On another note (no pun intended lol) Easeus has a button to commit, it doesn't format until you hit "apply changes" or something.

Oh man, does that mean I an no longer officially use my 64gb sd card? LOL...
Been using my 64gb card since I got my note 10.1... Had to upgrade to the latest ICS ota to get exFAT support but formatting FAT32 allowed use of the 64gb card from the start... Australian Samsung site also says up to 32gb sd card - they lied....

64GB will work with the 10.1 if it is formatted as FAT32. I used my Macbook to format as FAT32 and the card was then recognised.

And don't feel too bad, I remember when I used Easeus the first time, I didn't notice that you had to hit apply either.

I don't have card reader so now I'm sending data by WM5torage. I want to check if all card space will be visible on PDA
copy 6 GB of data onto card and then let us know if it stil works
just curious, your screen shots show that the card is seen by the universal.
I'd like to know if it is usable when it has substantial amount of data on it 6gb +
since it is 16gb let us know how it performs when you have 10gb of data on it
look forward to your update
thanks
Now I can perform speed test but don't know which software use for it. Pocket Mechanic?
I have the same card and it works with Laurentius, Neucong and Thingonaspring's roms. It's great showing up my iPhone buddies who are stuck on 4-8gb.
The newer SDHC driver works faster than the other driver, so use roms that have this newer one. Thingonaspring's has the newer one so try his if you want faster speeds. Not sure if there's other roms that have the newer driver, though. Anyone?
I have this SD-card from A-Data with 16 GB class 6, too!
My german T-Mobile Universal has:
WM 5.1.70 Build 14409.1.1.2
ROM 1.20.34 GER from 11/16/05
ExtROM 1.20.118
I tried SDHC.cab with 68.060 bytes from HTC.
But it only shows 3030 MB free!!! It reports a "disk full error" after filling it with 3028 MB and trying to copy a bigger file than 2 MB. At least I can read the copied files and play those mp3.
Also tried a cab called "SDHC.777 (V2).cab" but it can't be installed and stops with an error.
A cab called "Signed_Storage_Settings_App.cab" can be installed but doesn't solve the probel either.
Which systems exactly do you have? Which work and which don't?
By the way, I can't read that card from neither from pc nor from notebook with 2000, xp and suse linux 10.1 and two different card readers!

Why is it showing "Storage Card2" instead of "Storage Card"?
@banane
I have this old ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=312519&highlight=business
and SDHC.777.cab installed.
@sofene
Its StorageCard2 because I soft reseted Uni with no card installed and done synchronization. System has tried to synchronize mail attachments to card and made catalogue named StorageCard in main memory. When I putted SD card it was named StorageCard2. Then I had to delete StorageCard folder and then afrer soft reset SD card was StorageCard. End of story Good night

Map, mp3's, videos etc also programs. Everything works great.
hey there, I bought myself an 8gb sdhc card the other day and all was working fine, I was running ranju's wm6.1 with radio rom 1.15.00. I then found an updated radio rom 1.18.00 i think it was, so i installed that. for a day or 2 everything was still fine until i woke up yesterday morning and found it was no longer recognised. I grabbed my old 4gb mmc card and found that didnt work either. I tried restarting the device several times, then swapping the drivers so i reluctantly reinstalled ranju's rom again, still no joy with either the mmc card or the sdhc. I finaly decided to reinstall wm5 official rom which took me back to radio rom 1.15.00 and my mmc card started to work in it again. Im going to reinstall ranju's rom again as i quite liked it and i shall post what happens as far as the sdhc card goes.
Anyways, I just thought I should flag it as a possible problem & of course fix for anyone who suffers. Im great for these as i managed to break this dam phone 3 times a week heh!
ok after all that my mmc card works in both wm5 and wm6.1 however my sdhc card doesnt seem to be working in either, Ill have to wait until tommorow for my sdhc card reader to turn up to find out if my card which is brand new has died on me wah!
16gb mem card
Hello guy's just a quick question on the subject of 16gb sdhc memory cards. My memory card reader cannot read the card but my htc universal can. What type of card readers is everyone using, the transfer rate via usb is terribly slow.
It works, but my card is dead...
I tried this card before and the unit didnt seem to find it, it just showed at the bottom saying can be removed, but when i went to storage it wasn't there.
i put the card in my laptop and used guiformat to format it as fat32 but it shows as 29gb and not 64. the packaging says 64gb, am i missing something or do i have a wrong card in my packaging?
james
Look at the card to see if its a 32gb or 64gb. Use a laptop/pc and reformat it using exfat and see how much memory is available. I had that same problem when I I inserted in the
note, I did use EaseUS Partition Master to format to FAT32 and worked fine. Then I manually updated my firmware on the note N8013 and I was able to format through the note and back to exFAT.
It said 64gb on the card and the packaging, i have sent it back to amazon for an exchange, i had also formatted the card with guiformat as fat32 and it still showed as 29gb free. even after formatting it as fat32 my note 10.1 still wouldn't see it
Have you tried formatting fat32 using a different software such as the one I mentioned on my previous post? What 10.1 note do you own and it's build number?

i own the n8010
Im not familiar on which is the latest update on the N8010, but you should post your build and maybe someone can help if it needs an update or do a search here on the forum. The only thing I can help with is eliminating if your sdcard is defective, but since you already returned its hard test it now.
my build is: IMM76D.N8010XXALGC
I have the exact same problem on my spanking new note 10.1 32gb N8013 (UEALGB) model with 64gb sdxc sandisk card. Can you share more info about the manual update you did?
I had this problem on an 8000... I don't know why but the note seems to partition exfat cards to a FAT32 32gb partition and an unformatted partition. It destroyed my new 64gb sd card as NOTHING would recover it....
Had to get a new card....
I got the SanDisk ultra 64gb sdxc and used it with my s3. I just put the card in my new N8000 and so far everything is working great.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
i have the same problem, when i insert the card on the phone it say blank card
when i insert it on the PC it read it EXFAT format
when i copy my data and put it back to the Note the card is read only where i cannot edit at all or add files or add new folder even\
Any idea??

Correct. Latest update does handle the 64Gb cards much better. I was on the same firmware as previously mentioned i .e. XXALGC and when I inserted the card I couldn't do anything with it. So I downloaded the latest firmware for the GT-N8000 off Sammobile - The september German version as it said it includes UK, flashed it through odin and that was it . Card worked perfectly didnt have to do anything to it. I did format it through the settings > storage menu anyway to be safe and all was good.
Also, the update gave me newer versions of snote and polaris which helped cure a few little gripes too , so all good !:fingers-crossed:

Ok, i dont know if this has been posted before but this is my BIG problem. When ever I plug in a 16gb sandisk memory card to my galaxy note 10.1 n8000 it works seamlessly without any problems it shows how much space i have and other options like unmount and the like.
BUT, when I plug in my 64gb sandisk microsdXC it doesn't even mount and the only option i see is mount sd card and when i press on that it shows that sd card can be removed.
I want to know why it is like this. I want to use my 64gb on this and I have already got a replacement for the memory card and i also tried reformatting the cards with exFAT and Fat32. I am at a loss and I don't know where I can find the info to get this fixed. I am begging for anybody to help me with the steps to get this fixed

This is kinda strange, because i had the same problem with the same card, but found out of the box its exFAT, reformatted to FAT32, now works flawlessly...depending on firmware (i'm on 4.0.4 XXALI3, no exFAT support) even exFAT is said to work finally, don't remember which one actually. Thanx you SAMSUNG, finally acknowledged those cards come with exFAT out of the box...i would try to reformat and make sure it's really FAT32, as not all windows machines seem to produce FAT32 out of the box (I'm on MAC). hope this helps...
my baseband version is N8000UBLG5 4.0.4
I have tried to reformat on my windows 7 alienware laptop. It is really weird. I was worried because I thought that it might be a hardware problem but when i used the 16gb memory card it worked flawlessly. I only used the format option that comes with windows. Could this be a problem with the software? I just hope that this is not a problem with the hardware. I hope someone could shed some light on this for me.
You can't format a 64gb sd card fat32 using window natively, you need another program such as Easius partition manager to do it. This might be your problem....

Still doesn't work
Ok, I tried using the formating program and still same thing. It wasn't able to fix it. The only option that shows in the storage part is "mount sd card". And still when I click on that, it shows a notification that says that sd card is safe to remove. Im really at a loss here. I guess that because I can use the 16gb memory card, its probably not a hardware problem right? I have the n8000 3g+ wifi model. I don't know what region it is but I bought it at amazon.com

yes It is recognized in windows and yes I can copy files on it. I actually tried it on my galaxy s3 phone and it was recognized. That is why im really wondering why this won't work on the n8000...I am hoping to find someone who could fix it, I would gladly pay for the fix if it would be repaired.

you could try to format in the S3...mine isn't' available right now,so I can't try myself...not sure if S3 does exFAT though....
If you have access to a Digital Camera and a Micro SD to SD Adapter you could insert the micro sd card in the adapter and then insert both into a Digital Camera and reformat using the cameras format instructions.
Worked for me in the past.
I just picked up a 64bg microsd with the sdcard adapter. Now when i have the keyboard docked and i use the card/adapter together my tf300t sees it no problem and asks me to mount it. However when i just use the microsd card alone(which was my intention all along of course!!!!) it looks like it starts to run the media mounting but never does anything. At first i had the card formatted to NTFS then i formatted it to exFAT and it doesn't make a difference. I am running 4.2.1 JB for what it's worth. I didnt see any current threads about this that was recent.
Thanks for any help.

ok after doing some troubleshooting i think its this Micro sd card apparently in conjunction with my transformer. i took my samsung 16 gig microsd outta my android phone and what do you know my tablet recognized it right away and i had the option to mount it. What bugs me is with the 64gb microsd in the tablet as soon as i plug it in it says "preparing external storage" then just goes away. I wonder if i did a factory restore (back to 4.1) even though i dont want to if that would fix it.
How annoying.
I think this tablet doesn't support 64GB cards without a custom kernel...

Tell me about it. Strange thing is I have seen someone else posted here that their TF300T works with a 64gb MicroSD card so that just irks me. I have gone as far as to partition it, format into every file system I can save for Mac which wont make a difference as well.
F it all. I got my coworker to pay me the amount I paid from Ebay. Problem solved. Guess I will get a 32gb.
Same issue for me until I ran a custom kernel. I use a Sandisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC Class10. Works great for me!
Until i can unlock my damn tablet im stuck with stock. Its very frustrating but im not alone at all at least.

What if you format the card in the Transformer?

Dont have it anymore but it wasnt possible because the transformer didnt mount it or give me the option to. I went one better and formatted in my epic 4g, didnt matter. Partitioned it into 2 32gb partitions, i tried everything. I bought a 32gb and it works fine.

I tried formatting mine from the dock even, which did see the card. But once I put it back in the tablet proper no go. I unlocked mine as I wanted this card to work as well as tethering with my Verizon phone using ad-hoc mode.Everything works well now for me,just waiting on a custom rom for the newest ASUS update to 4.2.1!
I got a 32GB Sandisk class 10 for $20 from BestBuy.
Tonight I am going to try using it in the tablet and SD slot. My whole purpose is to make it work as MicroSD card so I can use it even when the tablet isn't docked.
I purposely stayed away from 64GB as some say it doesn't run properly and I don't want to unlock, root or install custom kernal at the moment.
I tried quick formatting it in win 7 and it didn't happen, so I am regular formatting in NTFS, that probably won't work so I will reformat in exFAT and see if that works, hopefully. If both don't work than I will have to root the device and install something like paragon exFAT app.
The whole purpose is to NOT have a 4GB file size limit for files.
lets see what happens.

You should be able to format it however you want. You should have no issues with the 32gb. I didnt after all the trouble with the 64gb but as they say YMMV.

I don't know why but for some reason it wasn't getting formatted to NTFS, I didn't bother because it's working in exFAT format.
Just to confirm.
My 32GB SanDisk Class 10 is working fine in the MicroSD slot. I formatted it to exFAT and copied a 8GB MKV and it played fine on MX player.
When I put it in the SD card slot on my laptop running Win 8 using the provided MicroSd to SD converter, it wasn't getting recognized until I ran chkdsk and since than it's been working fine.
I will try testing it in the TF300 SD card later today.
My whole purpose was not to root etc the device as I don't have the time right now to do that, if a device is rooted, there are apps on the market that can mount a NTFS card as well.
I've attached the screenshot for benchmark.

I haven't rooted. And these are stored right in phone memory card, not my new SD card. So I'm sure it's something either on the phone itself of the memory card of the phone. Can anybody give me some advice about what is going on? have anyone had the same problem?
I had the same problem with a ugly SD memory card issue (I made a topic about it), but since I updated my phone to 4.2.2 those problems are gone.
If PC companion doesn't show you the new update, use SONY update service or Flashtool.

Sorry I didn't see you already updated, try to restore or update again. Also, is that happening with pictures only saved in your SD card? If so, what brand is your SD?

this happened even before the update. I just thought it was because I haven't format the SD card before using it.
I don't know if it's the SD card problem or phone problem .(I really do hope it's not phone problem,SD card is easier to deal with). I took the SD card out now and is starting to take picture and check to see if this error still occurs

As I told you, I had a similar problem with Android 4.1.2, I bought a 16 Kingston SD card and that happened to me with my pictures saved in the sd. Funny thing is that the card didn't give that problem in my girlfriend's Xperia E, so I gave it to her.
The same day I updated to 4.2.2 I bought another SD card, same capacity as the other but different brand, A-data. And I never had that issue again.
As I told you, do the update again and see what happens. Also, tell us the capacity and the brand of your SD card.

If it was a SD Card problem in your case then defently it's the same thing for him. He should check another sd card.

unfortunately I don't have any other device that I can use this memory card on to identify which one has problem.
