And here shots from PDA:
I don't have card reader so now I'm sending data by WM5torage. I want to check if all card space will be visible on PDA
copy 6 GB of data onto card and then let us know if it stil works
just curious, your screen shots show that the card is seen by the universal.
I'd like to know if it is usable when it has substantial amount of data on it 6gb +
since it is 16gb let us know how it performs when you have 10gb of data on it
look forward to your update
thanks
Now I can perform speed test but don't know which software use for it. Pocket Mechanic?
I have the same card and it works with Laurentius, Neucong and Thingonaspring's roms. It's great showing up my iPhone buddies who are stuck on 4-8gb.
The newer SDHC driver works faster than the other driver, so use roms that have this newer one. Thingonaspring's has the newer one so try his if you want faster speeds. Not sure if there's other roms that have the newer driver, though. Anyone?
I have this SD-card from A-Data with 16 GB class 6, too!
My german T-Mobile Universal has:
WM 5.1.70 Build 14409.1.1.2
ROM 1.20.34 GER from 11/16/05
ExtROM 1.20.118
I tried SDHC.cab with 68.060 bytes from HTC.
But it only shows 3030 MB free!!! It reports a "disk full error" after filling it with 3028 MB and trying to copy a bigger file than 2 MB. At least I can read the copied files and play those mp3.
Also tried a cab called "SDHC.777 (V2).cab" but it can't be installed and stops with an error.
A cab called "Signed_Storage_Settings_App.cab" can be installed but doesn't solve the probel either.
Which systems exactly do you have? Which work and which don't?
By the way, I can't read that card from neither from pc nor from notebook with 2000, xp and suse linux 10.1 and two different card readers!

Here is a link to a driver that worked for me (SdHC_v2.rar) with 16 GB SD and WM6. Maybe it also works with WM5. The file contains a SDHC.777.cab, that must be extracted, downloaded to the device and installed from there.

SDHC <= 4 GB -> sdhc.cab
SDHC > 4 GB -> sdhc.777.cab (only within sdhc_v2.rar; older sdhc.777.cab does not work)

Why is it showing "Storage Card2" instead of "Storage Card"?
@banane
I have this old ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=312519&highlight=business
and SDHC.777.cab installed.
@sofene
Its StorageCard2 because I soft reseted Uni with no card installed and done synchronization. System has tried to synchronize mail attachments to card and made catalogue named StorageCard in main memory. When I putted SD card it was named StorageCard2. Then I had to delete StorageCard folder and then afrer soft reset SD card was StorageCard. End of story Good night
What do you put on a 16 gb card that you can use in a PDA???? media files? maps? what else?

Map, mp3's, videos etc also programs. Everything works great.
hey there, I bought myself an 8gb sdhc card the other day and all was working fine, I was running ranju's wm6.1 with radio rom 1.15.00. I then found an updated radio rom 1.18.00 i think it was, so i installed that. for a day or 2 everything was still fine until i woke up yesterday morning and found it was no longer recognised. I grabbed my old 4gb mmc card and found that didnt work either. I tried restarting the device several times, then swapping the drivers so i reluctantly reinstalled ranju's rom again, still no joy with either the mmc card or the sdhc. I finaly decided to reinstall wm5 official rom which took me back to radio rom 1.15.00 and my mmc card started to work in it again. Im going to reinstall ranju's rom again as i quite liked it and i shall post what happens as far as the sdhc card goes.
Anyways, I just thought I should flag it as a possible problem & of course fix for anyone who suffers. Im great for these as i managed to break this dam phone 3 times a week heh!
ok after all that my mmc card works in both wm5 and wm6.1 however my sdhc card doesnt seem to be working in either, Ill have to wait until tommorow for my sdhc card reader to turn up to find out if my card which is brand new has died on me wah!
16gb mem card
Hello guy's just a quick question on the subject of 16gb sdhc memory cards. My memory card reader cannot read the card but my htc universal can. What type of card readers is everyone using, the transfer rate via usb is terribly slow.
It works, but my card is dead...

We all know the popular SDCard (MicroSD) issues regarding android...
Yes, I know, this is only my 3rd post... I'm not a noob, I've been reading a lot from XDA since its early beginning... I was a symbian developer during its glory days... I do a lot of android but I am not into developing (yet) for it...
Back to SDCards... I've read a lot of post regarding sdcard problems...
My only concern is that the SDCard automatically mounts itself to read only after some read and write operations... I thought this was normal... But after some research, I found out that it was a sign of corruption... The gradual increase of files in LOST.DIR indicates a serious problem...
To give a more concrete evidence regarding this theory, I started testing with 2 Galaxy SL devices, 2 usb cables and 3 SDCards of different class and capacity... I use 2 Galaxy SL's to identify if my unit has a bad card reader...
These are the test that I've managed to perform:
1. Copy Music Tracks to device via Mass Storage
2. Copy files from Internal SD to External SD via phone
3. Download a large file using the phone and save the file to External SD
4. Delete a large group of files in External SD using phone
The Cards that are use are:
1. SD A (class 2)(4 GB)
2. SD B (class 6)(16 GB)
3. SD C (class 10)(16 GB)
These are the Results:
1. Using Mass Storage to copy Music Tracks to SDCard prove to be successfull (All SD's)
2. Copy files from Internal SD to External... The operation finished but after the operation, the sdcard was mounted as read only (SD B and SD A)
3. Downloading a file to SDCard... There are some instances that the download will fail because the SDCard was mounted as Read Only during the progress of downloading (All SD's)
4. There are some instances that Deletion of file suddenly stops... The reason, the SDCard was mounted Read only...
5. Every Instance of an error, a file is created at LOST.DIR (After the filesystem check at boot)
I check all SDCards to look into its integrity (via CHKDSK /R)... All SDCard diagnostic tools found no problem regarding the Cards... I put the same ROM on the phones (Rooted and Deodexed Stock KPQ) and both phones share the same results above... Recently, this problems persist in all the ROM's that I have tried (CM, MIUI, Stock) And all kernels (UC, Vurrut)... I think finding for a solution for our device first would help us create a solution for others too...
Anyone of you having similar issues...? Your solution and comments is highly appreciated... Many people are having these problems... Making data reliability on the SDCards quite frustating...
Is there a way to "permanently" mount SDCard as RW to prevent it from mounting as Read Only... I really hope that there is a solution to this problem...
Hi, I know it's been a moment but I'll share what I've experienced, my sdcard was supposed to be a 32GB one but in reality it was a 4GB one, you can't see it on windows through, lot of files were appearing in that lost.folder once I exceed 4GB and all my MP3 were getting mixed up, corrupted.
The funny part of this is that all steps trying to verify that sdcard (chkdsk) were showing no problem at all, now I bought a real 32GB from Samsung and it works fine
Your sdcard should be corrupted or just a fake one.
From my side I ain't getting any problem concerning the fact that my sdcard mounts itself as R/O

i dont know i have a class6 16-gig sd card and now i have the phone for a motherboard fix. they said that my 16 gig sd card were one of the culprits of the motherboard and usb storage (internal memory) excommunication of my galaxy sl. they prefer that i should use a 4 gig or lower sd card to lessen chances of this to happen again.
that's very strange... how can a sdcard "destroy" the phones motherboard...?

How shall that work? The only thing I could think of is that a device can not handle SDHC, SDXC cards and thus throws a error like "card corrupted", "no sd card", "card not compatible" but break the motherboard?
P.S. Why don't you insert the banner as to your signature in the user cp? Would prevent others to "quote" it.
The interesting thing is that I never had any problems with my cards, neither with my old 4GB class 4-6 or the new 16GB class 10. Also with the situations you mentioned. But now I know a bit better for what this strange LOST.DIR filder is... For me it's empty all the time.

Would you suggest that the phone is the one with problems..? Or maybe the possibility that both of my cards are bad...
Btw.. Can you change the mount of your sdcard using root explorer (r/w and r/o)..?
After formatting my card, the button to mount the sd to read only is gone, but after some time it returns.. Allowing you to mount the sd to r/w or r/o... I think that contributes to my problem

Not really, I only wanted to say that I never had such problems.
Mounting works, I have done it on my computer, but that won't make any difference:

Sorry but this is a question I can't answer. I'm not a developer, but I don't think that there is some kind of "permanent" mount.
Samsung Galaxy SL SD card issues
I'm having the same problem. At first I thought it was the native music player because the problem would happen a few minutes after I'd pause music. The phone would restart on it's own, wipe the files on the SD card then restart. I downloaded another music player to try to correct the problem. It worked for a few days then it happened again. It wiped all the files on the SD card. This time it seemed to be worse. After a few minutes it restarted again, and this time wiped all the programs that were saved on the SD card, and reformatted the phone completely (including language and account settings). I have installed the latest firmware, and tried using the phone without a SIM card and it still happens. I basically have an unusable phone. Please help. I haven't tried replacing the SD card but I'm having doubts whether it's because of the SD card why the problem is happening. I used to own a Samsung Galaxy S and I used that card on that phone, and it worked fine. If I buy a new SD card, how would I know what kind to get and are there any other fixes to this issue? Please help!
Ok, i dont know if this has been posted before but this is my BIG problem. When ever I plug in a 16gb sandisk memory card to my galaxy note 10.1 n8000 it works seamlessly without any problems it shows how much space i have and other options like unmount and the like.
BUT, when I plug in my 64gb sandisk microsdXC it doesn't even mount and the only option i see is mount sd card and when i press on that it shows that sd card can be removed.
I want to know why it is like this. I want to use my 64gb on this and I have already got a replacement for the memory card and i also tried reformatting the cards with exFAT and Fat32. I am at a loss and I don't know where I can find the info to get this fixed. I am begging for anybody to help me with the steps to get this fixed
This is how it looks with the 16gb memory card

This is kinda strange, because i had the same problem with the same card, but found out of the box its exFAT, reformatted to FAT32, now works flawlessly...depending on firmware (i'm on 4.0.4 XXALI3, no exFAT support) even exFAT is said to work finally, don't remember which one actually. Thanx you SAMSUNG, finally acknowledged those cards come with exFAT out of the box...i would try to reformat and make sure it's really FAT32, as not all windows machines seem to produce FAT32 out of the box (I'm on MAC). hope this helps...
my baseband version is N8000UBLG5 4.0.4
I have tried to reformat on my windows 7 alienware laptop. It is really weird. I was worried because I thought that it might be a hardware problem but when i used the 16gb memory card it worked flawlessly. I only used the format option that comes with windows. Could this be a problem with the software? I just hope that this is not a problem with the hardware. I hope someone could shed some light on this for me.
You can't format a 64gb sd card fat32 using window natively, you need another program such as Easius partition manager to do it. This might be your problem....

Still doesn't work
Ok, I tried using the formating program and still same thing. It wasn't able to fix it. The only option that shows in the storage part is "mount sd card". And still when I click on that, it shows a notification that says that sd card is safe to remove. Im really at a loss here. I guess that because I can use the 16gb memory card, its probably not a hardware problem right? I have the n8000 3g+ wifi model. I don't know what region it is but I bought it at amazon.com
Is the sd card recognised in windows? Can you open up and copy files to/from it?
If you have another phone you could try to format it in that BUT be careful as it can screw them up...

yes It is recognized in windows and yes I can copy files on it. I actually tried it on my galaxy s3 phone and it was recognized. That is why im really wondering why this won't work on the n8000...I am hoping to find someone who could fix it, I would gladly pay for the fix if it would be repaired.

you could try to format in the S3...mine isn't' available right now,so I can't try myself...not sure if S3 does exFAT though....
If you have access to a Digital Camera and a Micro SD to SD Adapter you could insert the micro sd card in the adapter and then insert both into a Digital Camera and reformat using the cameras format instructions.
Worked for me in the past.
[Q] TIBU - "Batch backup interrupted: insufficient free storage space" - Any Ideas?
Have a problem with TIBU Pro on my Samsung SGH i-727 (S2-Skryocket). If you find a fix, let me know. I can back up some apps and then finish off others manually but I can't seem to complete a full batch system & apps backup in TIBU Pro now without a ""batch backup interrupted: Insufficient free storage space" error. And I have 40GB+ free on a 64 GB card I just added. (Formatted to FAT32 with GPARTED on my Ubuntu 13.04 box.) I'm going to try and see if a new SD card will work. Will report on that a bit later but I was using this same card for batch backups with TIBU for a few weeks before the error appeared so I'm not suspecting the card right now.
Running CM10.1 nightlies with TWRP 2.6. Full root and updated to latest nightly version yesterday. Wiped System Cache and Dalvik cache. Fixed Permissions. Still get "insufficient free storage space error". Seems to be a problem that few have figured out. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling TIBU Pro. No dice. TIBU does seem to work though manually. Weird... Sent message to TIBU Pro support. Great program... Not so great at support. Their e-mail support is rarely answered and they don't even have a user forum on their website.
HW: SGH-I727, TWRP 2.6, CM10.1 - 07/27/2013 CM 10.1 Nightly, TIBU 6.0.5.1, 64GB Patriot SD - Class 10 card (FAT32)
Think I found my problem - SD Card Problem
Per recommendation on IRC, tried a spare external SD card.
And - Drum Roll.... Success!!! I guess good news and bad news.
Kind of a bummer though. Seems like my relatively new SD card I bought for $59 at Fry's is hosed somehow - at least for the SGH-I727.
Card that worked on TIBU backup is an older Class 10 32GB PNY. Full batch backup took a while (normal) but completed in TIBU Pro without error.
Newer card is a 64gb Patriot Class 10.
Both are formatted with FAT32. Backing up the 64GB to hard disk right now. No error on the PC so I think the card is probably OK but somehow not quite right for the SGH-I727.
Going to try and format it in another system using GPARTED. (I have read numerous posts about not formatting 64GB in Windows 7 / 8). I presume I am going to find this is just a bad card for this particular SGH-I727 hardware.
I know FAT32 is probably the best idea for universal compatibility and if I don't intend to use large files on the drive.
Anyone with a good recommendation on compatible or best brand of 64gb MicroSD card they are successfully using with their SGH-I727 I would be interested in hearing their feedback.

No. I'm pretty sure it's got to be related to the card now as the 32GB card works fine for backups with TIBU. Kind of confused why the 64GB card was working before and just up and quit. But at least I think I figured it out.
Also seems that the recommendation is for 32K sector size on the SD Card. So I'm going to reformat that card with GPARTED in Ubuntu 13.04. The default was 512 byte sector size in GPARTED. So I guess I need to do 32K sectors and try that with this card according to the comments I see in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2041679
I guess the small sector size could be a problem with my device.

64GB SD Card Seems the Culprit
Couldn't find 32K sector size in GPARTED so used Mini-Tool Partition Wizard (Free Home Edition).
Formatted fine and copied all my files fine back from my PC to the Micro-SD card.
But I still get the "insufficient storage space" available error on the 64GB versus the 32 GB card when doing TIBU Pro backups. So 64GB card is problematic but the 32 GB card is fine on the same ROM. (Running CM 10.1 Nightly - last updated 7/27/2013).
Everything else seems to run fine though. Can run video, music, books, no problem off the card.
Thinking I'll just go back to the 32 GB card and get rid of the bloat. Or maybe just use the 32GB card for backups. Again, the 64gb card appears to be functioning in every other context other than TIBU backups on the SGH-i727.
This 64GB card is quite a bit of hassle on the Skyrocket IMHO. Guess I'll save this for the S4 when I can upgrade later this year.
Any other ideas? Anybody think I should try Ext2, Ext3, Ext4 on this SD card? I have enough linux desktops and servers laying around that this drive format / file system wouldn't be a big problem for me. Plus, I presume the SD card would still mount in Windows as a media device that could be read and written to if I use the USB cable. But I don't want to go down that road if it is just a waste of time.
Anybody with some experience getting a 64gb SD card to work on the SGH-I727? Should I get a different brand MicroSD Card or something? (Using Class 10 Patriot 64GB SD card that seems fine on the PC but is a problem doing backups with TIBU.)

Yes..but I read that some 64 GB cards have a hard time being fully recognized(functional)..

Evidence of running 64GB on SGH-I727
Just in case you don't think you can run 64gb on SGH-I727 - see attached screenshots.

My next try will be backing up with TIBU Pro to the internal SD card memory. I have 9GB or so available on the internal SDCard space it looks like.
I haven't found anything wrong with the 64GB card on the SGH-I727 other than the fact that the TIBU Pro batch backup to the card dies with the "insufficient storage" message even though it obviously has way more than sufficient space.
I cant see my files on my SD card when view them on my PC. This happens even if the SD card says its got 4.3 GBs of files.
Does this mean that my SD card is corrupt? Do I need to buy another one? Would reformatting fix this SD card?

try backup the files to your computer, if it's able to transfer the files and the file can be opened normally (eg. open document or picture)
then format the card on your phone, and then transfer the files back to your sdcard

But do you think that its better to just buy a brand new sd card? Or do you think reformatting it would make it like new without any issues?

if your card is quite old, or it's a cheap brand then you should get a new one.
if you like to save some money, then try to reformatting is just cost you little time to know if it's still usable

If it isnt the sdcard problem... i doubt its the drivers fault of you're pc .. try to reinstal it
hope my suggestion can help you ! Had one situation like this but i had driver problem from my pc
Format the sdcard. Backup your files first. If not, just buy a new sd card.
if u tried formatting and its working then congrats....u saved some bucks....
otherwise i suggest buying a good brand SC card with enough memory to support your needs.

What i did to overcome this issue is first i formatted using SD formatter with options (full overwrite, format size adjustment off)...................then i formatted in our mobile............. AND last do not use usb cable for data transferring instead use usb card reader to transfer files............. these helped me alot...............till now i have not had any problems if u done what i said above...........

SanDisk
I'm using a SanDisk 16gb Card. No problem here. I think it's hardware-sided from the SD-Card.

same card for me. Working perfectly w/o any troubles.
Also, looks like this phone does not like exFat formatted cards, it just corrupts them. So try to format your card to another FS, maybe that would help u.
