[Q] Warranty/Insurance - General Questions and Answers

I currently have an HTC Vivid on AT&T and have had it for around 6 months. The headphone jack is acting up pretty badly and the battery life is poor. It is still under warranty and I also have insurance through Asurion. My dad (I'm 16 btw) wants me to call AT&T and work it out with them so I won't have a "bad name" with the insurance company.
But it hit me that I am rooted and am running a custom ROM. I unlocked the bootloader and made it S-Off. Although I am now back to S-On, if I were to flash the stock rom (which I would do) my bootloader would be "relocked" not "locked." So if I were to send it to AT&T it would have a relocked bootloader AS WELL as missing the "void" sticker on top of one of the screws which had to be unscrewed to go S-Off.
Given these circumstances, would it be best to go through insurance even though I am under warranty? Or would AT&T not notice the relocked bootloader and missing void sticker? Thanks so much!

Yeah right ...

Okay Moto, I owe you one

They did me good. I not only hard bricked my phone being one of the first adopters of ICS and reverting back to GB, but I ruined my liquid damage indicator some way or another.

Now I almost feel bad for reporting them to the FCC for not unlocking my boot loader.

Think of it this way: You wouldn't of hard bricked your phone in the first place if they hadn't locked down our phone like Alcatraz!

Haha true. When I sent in my phone I printed off a little letter addressed to "the Motorola technician inspecting my phone" that I put with the package that basically begged for a replacement...I wonder if he even got it.

S8+ SM-G995F carrier locked, how to unlock?

Hello guys!
I have a carrier locked Samsung Galaxy S8+ it's locked to México's Telcel (TCE) and it's locked since I got it at launch date with a 2 year plan which has already expired. I went to the carrier and asked for an unlock and they told me they couldn't do it since the codes they had didn't work. They sent it to Samsung and asked for an unlock and surprisingly IT DIDN'T WORK! So they just returned me the freaking phone with a carrier lock which not even they (presumably) can't remove.
I was wondering if there's a way to unlock it with rooting or something. I was able to do that on an old Galaxy S4 back in the day but now I just don't see any information.
So, here's the phone's information:

This is the Phone's Baseband, Firmware and all that stuff:
This is what happens whenever I insert another carrier sim card:
I really want to unlock it so that I can give the phone to my dad since he needs an update and this phone seems like a good upgrade for him. The problem is that he is using another carrier and I can't give him the phone if I don't unlock it.
Can I unlock it by rooting it and flashing an unlocked firmware or something? Any other ideas?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Question New 870/oled version from aliexpress: brief flashes "bootloader unlocked software integrity cannot be guaranteed warning" and doesn't boot

What should I do here? Or is it bricked?
I haven't done anything with it. It only shows charging indicator or this really brief warning (had to use phone camera to catch it)

You've got the global rom on it with unlocked bootloader then.
Be aware no widevine L1 or OTA security updates.

Crap, any way to fake/simulate/bypass/revert widevine L1?
I'd heard about the china rom limited wifi issue but totally missed this DRM sets streaming to SD nonsense for global
Thats your only option unfortunately mate. China with WiFi issues or Global with update and widevine issues.

T-Mobile Sim Unlock?

I bought my phone new unlocked and am sending it back to LG for warranty repair. Part of the screen quit working. I started the process of sending it back and got the prompt below which pretty much says I'll get my phone back re-locked to T-mobile. Pretty sure T-mobile won't unlock this phone for me as I never used it with them. Locked to T-mobile, my phone is just a paperweight. Is there a way to sim unlock the phone after LG re-locks it that doesn't involve T-mobile or paying a ridiculous ransom to some sketchy unlocking website?

If it's locked back to T-Mobile then you should be able to reach out to them to have it unlocked as it will be part of their database. If you have doubts I would save any relevant info like IMEI off current phone reach out to t-force by Facebook or Twitter and let them know the situation and they can tell you what you need to do to have the phone unlocked again.
I'm pretty sure if you have proof that you sent in an unlocked phone and received a lock phone they will unlock it for you. Reaching out before hand you can also get a reference number or screenshot the conversation so you can have proof at a later date if they say you're fine and have LG service and replace it etc if Tmo gives you trouble in the future.

How long for quantum computer to break Verizon bootloader lock?

How long would it take for a current typical quantum computer to break a Verizon bootloader lock?
Asking for a friend.
Done, also did all them and any that could ever exist.

Never gonna end up with a Verizon unlock man. Time to pick a new device
Verizon is a carrier / network company, they lock phones they sell by a SIM-lock, what has nothing to do with Android device's bootloader.

We're not talking about telecommunications here or sim unlocking. We're talking about a lock that's put on most Android devices that enforces a firmware signature check. For most devices this can't ever be changed
For this, device's brand and model must be known. Actually Verizon sell Motorola, Samsung, Google and Apple phones.
