New wave of n00bs?
Jump on this people!
That is a great price.
Just saw this and started browsing the gTablet forums (Nook color guy here)
I kinda wanna sell my nook now :/
I bought one and I will be a noob to the GTablet, but not to Android. I can't wait to get it rooted and jump in to trying different Roms and getting this thing the way I want it. Great deal for a Tablet with great specs. Hopefully the devs can take advantage of the hardware because it seems like Viewsonic doesn't. That's too bad because with specs like that they should be upgrading it to Honeycomb without a doubt. See y'all when it gets here.
I think I feel for the worst for the people posting here trying to sell their used gTabs for the same price
I have a chance to purchase either a Galaxy Tab 10.1 or the TF.I can get either one for 399.00. I have tried both and taken both back a week or so ago. I did like them but could not decide which one was the keeper although I leaned toward the TF. Until today the deciding factor was the 100.00 price difference (499vs 399) well today they are on equal terms. Any suggestions or input from those that have had both devices for a couple of weeks or more would be greatly appreciated. Also any other suggestions etc also warmly received.
I own two TFs and a Gtablet. The main reason I bought them is the support on forums such as xda. Personally I don't touch Samsung stuffs due to support (they just suck at FW/SW also the way they copy Apple --> no ports). Since you mentioned the deal @Staples, I would get the Acer for $299 (fool-around until tegra3 comes).
I have had bad experiences with Samsung in the past, not so much their products, but their support is the worst in the industry.
I purchased my TF 3 days ago and have been unable to put it down since. I Love it. amazing piece of equipment you would be hard pressed to find a better device imho
$100 Off
This won't help you make your decision but Staples has a coupon floating around for $100 off ANY tablet
I just picked up a galaxy tab today from staples. So far i am really enjoying it. I also own a transformer, which i have been enjoying for a couple of months. If I only had on tablet and the choice was between the two, I would pick the transformer based soley on the fact that it has expandable memory and i could easily fill up 16 or 32 GB. With that being said if I didn't need the storage I would opt for the tab just because of its form and screen.
Now i am going to say something that I will probably get flamed for in this forum. I actually like the xoom better than the transformer and i plan to sell the TF on ebay then pick up a xoom from staples before the $100 off deal ends. I bought on over the weekend from staples because they had the $50 off deal last week and they had no tabs in stock, knowing that I was most likely going to return it. I really enjoyed it and miss it already.
The only downside compared that the TF was its weight, which didn't really bother me. For all of the talk about how much better the TF screen is than the xoom, I didn't really see it. I really tried too, playing the same videos on both side by side. Yes if you were looking at it from an odd angle it didn't look as good, but a tablet is almost always pointing right at you from a foot or so away. The xoom also comes with 32 GB internal memory for the price, and the build quality felt substantially better than the TF. If you really wanted the dock for the TF, then I could see that swaying somebodies decision, but I personally have no interest in it.
Anyway that is my opinion on things after having owned all three. I don't mean to make your decision any harder or start a flame war in here.

Do you mean you have thegalaxy tab or g slate
hi guys
im looking for an android 10.1 tablet with 64gb of space and 3G
i found a samsung tablet
but im looking for something else just to see which one would be better
thanks
Pretty sure there was a 64GB Motorola Xoom, haven't seen any around though.
Good luck with your search!
I had a quick second search for you and was able to turn up the Samsung one you mentioned. That was the only (legitimate) one I ould find with 3G, although this company claims to hold stock of a 64GB 3G Xoom for a ridiculously low price. Be warned - I have zero faith in this one.
Onto other 64GB tablets, I found one from Lenovo, one from ASUS and of course, one from Apple
If you can get by without the 3G though (by tethering your phone, for example) the best deal, by far and away, is the BlackBerry PlayBook. It's ridiculously cheap and quite a polished product. It's not Android, though
Hey,
Officially not the owner of a Transformer Prime, woohoo, got the refund I was after! But, its in store credit . I can't seem to find out where JB-Hi-FI says I can't have a cash refund:
http://www.jbhifi.com.au/documents/corporate/43_2012-01-06_10-10-25.pdf
So a massive gift card is what I get. So, I want the Infinity 32GB no dock, although probably will get one later, but I am not exactly sure about how to go about it. My other options in the store are a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (Poo), Toshiba Excite 10 (Err, not really), Nexus 7 (honestly, too small) and the A510 which is Acer and overheats. So really the Infinity does seem like the best. As many of you know the 64GB with dock is the first to release in Australia which to me seems mental, the person running ASUS over hear must be cos there are lots of wierd decisions. And there is no word on the 32GB which I am sure will eventually come, but I am not waiting another 6 weeks for it, so how am I supposed to deal with this. Anyone know an eta on the 32GB?
Thanks,
Hi,
i live in Italy and i also wanted to buy the 32GB version (more cheap) but ended up buying the 64GB version (a retailer had a very good price on it =515 euro) because there's no word about any other version here. I heard that Asus is selling the 32GB version in France, but i didn't checked that personally.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers app
Well for me it means paying an extra $300 odd dollars which is way more than I intended. I would possibly buy a 32GB with the dock but no way would I buy the 64GB, I would just never use that much.
32 GB is available here in US at best buy for 499
All good and helpful but I live in Australia. At least Apple has global releases and a pretty much fixed price, instead of plopping them here and there and raising the price everywhere. And yeah, if I did need the 64GB, I would just use an SD card, I only used about 6GB of my Prime, couldn't really use much more unless I filled it with movies. JB Hi-Fi have been extremely helpful and I can't really blame them for not getting the 32GB in, no one really has it but hopefully it shouldn't be too long. If not, I may be able to haggle down a Galaxy S3, but really, I bought the Prime to replace the laptop, and now I want an Infinity to replace the Prime so the docking and big screen are pretty important. In store credit, just hate them. Unless there was a way to import through them.

This may sound dumb, but I'm just taking a stab at it. But would shipping be that bad on something so small to prohibit buying on amazon and having it mailed to you. I realize that it'll cost you $40-$50 in shipping (guessing), but it means saving the $300 price hike and you actually get what you want and save the money. Or is it that you want to use that big ol gift card?
Thanks for the suggestion but yeah, I have to use this store credit. And the other problem is that Amazon dont ship electronics to Australia, had another store on hold though before I got the news I had a gift card.

Don't know what JBs is, quick google search suggests JB HIFI, an electronics outlet? But regardless, there are lots of places online that will buy your gift card. Again you will lose money, probably 20% (guessing), but you can get more for your card if you do a trade for credit to one of their cards for another outlet. I bought several gift cards to bestbuy for about 10% less then face value, used those to buy a TV that was already on sale and saved a massive amount in the end. Probably not the way you want to go, but just thinking outside the proverbial box.
Yeah, I would prefer to do it with the least amount of loss possible. But the good news is that the Prime is under $700 AUD with the dock for what I think is a first in Australia, so I think that suggests the Infinity will be in soon. They have axed the 32 GB no dock and have no 64GB at all, so it should be in. Official launch for the infinity is Tuesday so fingers crossed :fingers-crossed:

Don't forget about the Lenovo S2110 which has a keyboard dock almost identical to the Transformer(even has a large battery). The S2110's CPU is a Snapdragon S4 which is a generation newer than the Tegra 3.
That looks pretty nice, coming from a non Lenovo fan such as me. Unfortunately, we get hit again as this tab isn't coming to Australia. Are we really that minor to every other country?
Yay, got my refund, time to place an order on buyspry.com for a TF700, lets hope I get a good, one, if not, everyone will hear about it
Ugh, so confusing about what to do. Still probably going with BuySPRY.com as they seem to have the best tock and shipping but thats where I am sorta stuck. Some online stores place the Infinity shipping $50 higher than others which confuses me. Its FedEx International Priority so some pretty decent shipping. Add on insurance is also covered with an extra cost of $15 which I think I will get. But if I need to send it back, thats where the problem begins. I read ASUS provides a warranty for devices everywhere no matter where they are from. But any more advice would be more than welcome.
Thanks,
Thinking about replacing my Acer Iconia A500 with a Asus TF700. Any advice appreciated on whether there is enough performance difference between the two to make this a wise move.

Yes definitely.
Had the Acer A700 myself with an overheat problem.
Bought the TFI after returning the Acer.
Had a few downs with performance...not now however.
Try to read thru the development section to get an idea what can be done with the device.
Not recommending any tweaking...just referring in case you might be interested.
Be advised it's best to try and stick with HD tablet apps from the market.
More and more HD apps are showing up weekly.
Hope you enjoy if you do make the leap.

Thanks for the insight. My biggest challenge right now is convincing my wife that she needs a tablet. She didn't think she needed her own laptop until I got her one for Christmas a couple of years ago. She'll get the Acer A500 on the trickle down theory.
I've enjoyed flashing Roms on the A500 but it seems that with it's age things are slowing down so maybe it's time to move on. I'll be reading through the development thread as you suggested
Thanks again.

Wait. MWC is in less than two weeks and there will probably be announcements there regarding new tablets. The Xperia Z's global availability will most likely be announced as will the Galaxy Tab 3 Plus (GT-P5200) which is Samsung's version of the N10. The former has a 6,000mAh battery which may be an issue but the latter will have a microSD slot and hopefully not share the N10's QC issues. Regardless, the TF700 is a tweaked TF201 which is a year old design running a 15 month old SoC and requires a lobotomy which voids your warranty to get decent performance out of it. Some people said they got them for $350 which might be a good deal if you can find one for a similar price. But for $499 it's a bit outdated to purchase at this point in its lifespan. Especially with additional choices being announced soon.

Very good points, Barry, and you made me laugh. I needed that -- work today so far has not been very fun (I work in a PCC/ED/ICU unit -- always some excrement in any given ventilator ).

Thanks for your views, good points, but when new stuff comes out it usually takes the community awhile to discover the good and bad.
I've been following the Xperia Z I hope it turns out to be a good tablet.
Been itching to get something and had been looking at the Nexus 4.
Just not a phone junkie as much as a tablet junkie.
Both the wife and I try to keep our devices as long as possible anyway.
All this jumping to next best thing wears us out
As a retiree I'm not out and about near as much so a tablet is best for me as a homebody.
