If xda-developers made a phone, what would it's features be?
I'll start.
Dual microsd card slots. (1 can be mapped to ram expansion.)
Optional snap-on fold-out QWERTY keyboard.
Single touchscreen on outside that unfolds to reveal dual touchscreens on the inside.
HDMI out.
FM radio.
USB host.
Solar cells (from old calculators) for trickle charging.
Anything more?
Anything less?
If we control the hardware, we can better control the software.

The problem with that would be copyrights. We would have to make sure everything is open source.
I like your idea to make it cyanogenmod or aokp, so we could just update it when a new version comes out...

Physical bottoms.
Physical bottoms.
Touch bottoms are cool... but.. can be touched by accidental, or can be very sensitive.
Physical bottoms is better, from my point of view.
I absolutely agree.
_________
And devs should try making a phone for sure.
Immagine how cash friendly it will be!
And why would cia look into this?

Okie dokie, before you start reading, here's a disclaimer:
Code:
Disclaimer:
1.I am not responsible for your eyeballs burning and getting singed by my terrible handwriting. You have been warned.
2.I am a complete amateur at concept phones and design and I apologise for the lack of any digital drawing software and whatnot. You agree(I wish) that you shall not flame me for my atrocious drawing skills, grid paper drawings or my bad handwriting.
First of all, here are the links:
Nexus 3:http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/5860140936/in/photostream/
Nexus Tab:http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/5860140956/in/photostream
Okay after a quick glance, some of you might already be assuming my concept devices are based on the recent spate of device announcements and rumours. Let me confirm: The Nexus 3 concept was created way before the LG P930 rumours, and the Nexus Tab concept was also created before the announcement of Huawei's 7-inch android 3.2 tablet.
Now, on to the Q&A.
1.Why do you have a overclocking button on the face of the Nexus 3? That's dangerous!
A:I was thinking: since Intel is actually building Turbo Boost into their processors and it is advertised as a feature, I figured that with android also reaching quad-core-prowess, we could do the same. Also, if you tab the boost button, a warning and disclaimer will pop up on the screen, with warranty voiding and whatnot. And we are not upping the voltage, just the clock speed, so extra heat, the cause of processors degrading, will not be produced.
2.Seriously. The Nexus Tab is only 6.6 inch?
A: Remember, this is just a concept device. Anyways, I found 10.1 tablets to be a strain on my wrists and somewhat less ergonomic. So, I set out to create a concept tablet that would ease the wrist and finger stretching and be portable and lightweight.
3.Why LTE on the Nexus Tab? Why not WiMAX or HSUPA+?
Well, LTE is likely going to be the only kind of 4G network in use in Asia, and we couldn't miss out on a whole continent!
Yep. So comment on my mistakes, slips and praise my wonderful ideas(if only)!
A Nexus Tab would be awesome.
Wish Google would jump on that one.
Personally I guess a nexus tab might be released just before the ipad 3.

Just adding on, Ice Cream for phones and tablets is probably gonna be quite different due to differences in screen size and how one holds the device.

WebOS was miles ahead of android and ios. You shouldn't base your decision on the touchpad, a device released after WebOS died and by a different company.

Actually i used the pre as well. Webos does multi-tasking really really well and i like the OS but i don't like the lack of apps. I guarantee that people will go back to android unless we can get android apps running on webos.
If WebOS was still around, it'd be a better competitor to Android than Windows Phone is.
If I have nothing else to work on during that time I will look into it. I used to own a touchpad (look at my sig, but it was before i just sold it for a nexus 7 ) and I loved the OS. Its card view is fantastic.
The app store is what killed it though
Still it would be an awesome experience to port it.
I'd be willing to test stuff for you.
I'd absolutely love this. The only thing webOS is missing is some solid hardware!

I'm hoping for and evo shift or evo port. But any who the Touch pad dies not because of HP alone but the lack of advertisement. I feel as if the Touchpad was probably advertised it would have had a better User and Dev response. But with Open WebOS on the Horizon maybe we can add some more apps and maybe better visual customization then what we have currently.

I'd say the lack of apps was because of the lack of decent hardware. I know a lot of people who owned webOS devices at one point and miss the OS dearly, but Palm (and later the bozos at HP) were simply never able to provide any good hardware to upgrade too. The Touchpad was a plastic-y whale, and the Pre 3 was actually quite nice but never got released. Go figure, when they do manage to build a decent device they don't launch it. I don't understand why, but Palm was just never able to put together a hardware dev team worth squat.
I had a pre for a year and while I loved webos.. The hardware reminded me of a cheap Samsung phone...
I don't miss webos nearly as much as I used to because android now has so many aspects of webos....
I'd be down to test a port just for some nostalgia

Galaxy S3 (feels well.. like nature.. lol) -> Nexus (only screen is visible, no buttons.. minimalistic beautiful design!)-> Htc One X (Soft mechanical kind of look) -> Galaxy SL (love the backcover).
I'm a hardcore android fan&I really don't like apple. But the iPhone 5 is really like a piece of artwork. It seems like the Rolls-Royce in the world of Toyota&Honda(androids) .It will be better if any of the android manufacturers try to release a piece like that one which seems goods to the eyes&has power.
The Sammy people is going with their cheap plastic.:banghead: HTC & Sony releases good looking devices.

HTC One X? That phone is a piece of art. Soft touch coating mixed with the unibody shell is so beautiful and actually lovable. Although i would never take it for myself (Removable battery). As for professional phones, I think Galaxy S2 was a pretty professional phone.

maybe if I'd be a hardcore software programmer, developer or something like that, but as a typical user I'd settle only for one OS.
It's cheaper this way
Simply wow!
But imagine how much this thing is going to cost - it would be enormously expensive than a typical android tablet and much expensive than a windows PC / windows laptop - so I can't see how this can sell well if it comes with a big price tag which for sure it will come with.

Hi, to all my fellow flashaholics.
I'm setting this up to start a bounty for a sense port to the s4. I know what you're thinking what is this guys problem? Right? ? Well I really like the varies features and think it would be amazing to get a port started for it. I've messaged a couple devs that I have a lot of respect for and I've heard this is not easy. Well after much thought I decided to put up $500 of my own money to get this started.

Lol you're quiet generous with the donation , since you're paying 1000$ for a port which will most likely never fully work due hardware differences ( camera etc ) why not simply buy HTC one for about 500 and enjoy it.
The way I see it you're paying 1000$ for a buggy port while for 500$ you can buy whole phone with perfect sense and fully working + you get our GPE + our development ( viper Rom for example offers more tweaks then all s4 + all HTC one roms all together ) + stereo sound + slcd screen + metal phone + ois + smart flash + upx camera + best frontal cam + hdr mics + s-off + pretty designed phone
With the rest of money you could buy HTC one max lol or gadgets for HTC one
Original flip / hard cases , media link hdmi etc.
**** I'll give you my HTC one for this money xD.
Btw don't forget even if someone manages to port sense 5.5 in just about a month or so we're getting sense 6 :sly:
