[Q] VOIP/SIP with stock Phone app ICS - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone managed to successfully use the native phone app to make voip calls over wifi in ICS? I have tried to set up the stock Oxygen ICS and CM9 Phone app to use my voip.ms account. It registers fine, I can dial, other end rings, but there is no audio on either end. I can use the 3cx sip app and all is well, so I'm wondering if there is something buggy in the phone app on ICS. If anyone has it working on the stock dialer, is there something special you have to do to get it working?

Google Voice Callback

http://code.google.com/p/gvcallback/
I've been using this application to real good success on a older version of darth's 2.0 rom, updated to flipz installed it and doesn't seem to work anymore.
Any ideas on how we can fix this or how i can make Google voice call backs originate from my phone so I don't have to run to a pc to make a call on wifi?
For some reason perhaps its just the browser but I can't get my phone to call it's self through the google voice web app, and the official android don't support callbacks to sip phones and the only other-wisely good application for this GV is no long supported and is also broken.

But it's just really a pain in the ass to have to start every phone call from my computer, other than going back to Darth's rom any suggestions this seems like something that would be useful
Hi, my suggestion is if you have google voice, then set up the sipgate/sipsorcery iggy and use SIPdroid or Fring to make your phone calls. Here's a link to the guide

I'm confused. Why wouldn't you just use the official Google Voice app? It already automatically routes all your outgoing calls through google voice. Are you trying to route your call through data so you arent using your minutes or something?

Thanks, I was trying earlier but couldn't get sipgate to reg with sipsorcery
Turns out i was using the wrong credentials from sipgate. And doing anything to long on a public computer is a pain in the rear anyways, I only use linux at home and didn't feel like going through certain channels that shall not be named to get a copy of xp just so i can use silverlight

[Q] Bluetooth Voice Dialing on Gingerbread

On Froyo, whether it be stock or Eagle's Blood, my bluetooth voice dialing works as its supposed to... I press the voice dial button, and my phone says "Speak Now", I say the name, and it tells me what name I said + "Dialing".
I can't speak for all Gingerbread builds, but on Paul's leak and CM7, I press the voice dial button, and I dont get any notification at all, nor do I get the confirmation when its dialing a name... I mean, it dials, and it calls out properly... but its annoying since I keep my phone in my pocket, and Im scared that it'll dial a wrong name without any confirmation...
Has anyone else had this experience?
Bump... Would really love some info on this...
Come on, doesn't ANYONE use bluetooth voice dialing with a handsfree device on gingerbread?
Please respond! Someone?
i also have noticed this on all gingerbread roms i've tried. Most recently InsertCoin Desire ROM

I am having the same problem, Did you figure this out?
I had issues with CM7 and bluetooth dialing, so I switched to EB 2.3.3, and haven't had but one issue. I had an app called Cyberon Voice Commander, and that failed to work properly on any GB ROM.
However, ChoiceDialer+ seems to be working just fine w/EB (2.3.3). Downside to CD+, is that you cannot (currently) use voice dialer and A2DP together on our phones...it will freeze up. I have to disable media connection on my phone to properly use CD+. I'm going to test out Vlingo, and see how that works out. Downside to Vlingo is, you have to use data connection.
If you're interested in trying ChoiceDialer, there is a free version available in The Market. Aside from the A2DP issue, it is a great app, and the Dev is very responsive.

Any roms allowed call recording on this phone other than stock?

Using stock with the SGS4G I can record directly from the line and get 2-way call recording which is legal in my state. Nice to be able to go over my business calls when I am driving and don't have a pc or pen handy. I installed a ics rom and now I lost call recording with any program in the market or a custom one I have. I heard it is a rom/kernel issue. Does anyone know of a working rom with call recording enabled? Thanks
I remember MIUI having that function... that seemed to be the only one though.
Or using Google Voice to do it... but that's a feature of GV, and works regardless of ROM/phone type.

I am not interested in using google voice. Wonder why none of the roms enable it. I don't need a record button on the call screen just it enable to be able to use a 3rd party app.
I guess I will just try all the roms and see if any work. I been told it depends on the kernel if they enabled it or not.
I assume you mean a line recorder rather than a microphone recorder.
It needs a kernel feature we do not have and never had. It will not work on any of our ROMs cross versions. For microphone recording apps refer to the Google Play.

Ooma HD

Anyone with an N5 use Ooma at home? They just released an android app (free), but I can't log-in. Supposed to use the same login as PC.
Been looking for a good VOIP app to replace GrooveIP. I'm on wifi 95&% of the day.
You can voice call over WiFi w/ Google hangouts now & has Google voice integration as well.
Yeah I saw that thread soon after I posted this. I installed and it works! Never planned on using hangouts, but this makes it worth it. I assume if I'm out without wifi that it automatically uses cell provider. Can I get rid of the built in dialer? Any calls I get are to my GV#.
edit: Just tried to use Hangouts for call w/o wifi and without data. Does not direct you to built in dialer, so looks like you still need another dialer to make calls when off data.

I have ooma and was able to log in on the app. Thanks for the heads up on the app.

I signed in OK then it says I must change my password in order to use the mobile app, seems a bit dodgy. Anyone else get this?

Using Talkatone/Replacing Primary Phone App

I am working on trying to get Talkatone to be used as the default calling app on my phone. Im currently using a Note 20 Ultra, it seems that the Samsung ROM does not allow the "Phone" app to be replaced as the calling default in any way.
Here is what I am trying to achieve - I'm using a bluetooth adaptor to allow a landline phone to place a call from a cell phone. When the call is placed, it automatically activates the default phone app to place the call. Of course, this goes through the cellular network. I am thinking that if I could get talkatone to activate when the call is placed so I can ditch the carrier and place all calls over Wi-Fi.
Is there any way to do this on the stock Samsung rom? If not, is it possible on a custom rom or even on a tablet? Any help is appreciated.
