I am working on trying to get Talkatone to be used as the default calling app on my phone. Im currently using a Note 20 Ultra, it seems that the Samsung ROM does not allow the "Phone" app to be replaced as the calling default in any way.
Here is what I am trying to achieve - I'm using a bluetooth adaptor to allow a landline phone to place a call from a cell phone. When the call is placed, it automatically activates the default phone app to place the call. Of course, this goes through the cellular network. I am thinking that if I could get talkatone to activate when the call is placed so I can ditch the carrier and place all calls over Wi-Fi.
Is there any way to do this on the stock Samsung rom? If not, is it possible on a custom rom or even on a tablet? Any help is appreciated.

I recently bought a tablet and I want to be able to place calls through my phone by dialing on my tablet. I can access the dialer by creating a shortcut to the activity using ADW, but it says voice calling is not supported. I know cars can place calls remotely using their voice recognition, so it is definitely possible on the phone's end. Does anyone here know if there is a way to remotely trigger a phone call?
Good question, I have not seen away yet. I do know you can send text and check you Google voice mail through Google Voice...

I've been a Tablet Talk fan but it requires that you be on same WiFi SSID or Bluetooth. The bluetooth is very portable, needs no data connection.

I am a customer of them, for my home phone, and I just found out they make an app. Not only for the android, but for ipad to as well.
Bit pricy, but I am already registerd with them for a two year contract for only $20.00..., all it offers is a either a "free" phone number or I can use the one I have setup for my home phone.
If this is not for you you can search for VOIP in the app market.

Would it be possible to somehow answer a call from a smartphone on a tablet?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I'm thinking of buying a Note 10.1 2014 Ed.
I want to be able to use the Note for a lot more than just a tablet (including a universal remote, xbox control, music station...) and I was wondering if it was possible to answer and hang up a phone call using it.
If you're not following well, lets say I get a phonecall on my S3, but it's at the other end of the room or downstairs or somewhere I couldn't get to in time to answer... could I use my tablet to answer it, talk to the person on the other end and then hang up at the end?
Perhaps using an App which would send all signals over wifi...

While I'm seeking an answer for my thread, what I'm trying to accomplish is almost the opposite of you. I'm trying to take my smartphone and make it appear as a tablet from AT&T's perspective so I don't have to pay the "phone" part of the plan.
What you're trying to accomplish is pretty easy with Google Voice combined with Talkatone or Groove IP.
1) Set up your Google Voice account with a phone number
2) Tell everyone you changed your number to the Google #.
3) In GVoice settings, set the forwarding to your carrier's number AND to your Google Chat account.
4) Install and sign into your TABLET using Talkatone or Groove IP (Do not install Talkatone or Groove IP on your phone - or else it might conflict on which device to send the call to).
When someone calls your GVoice number, your tablet and phone will both ring (starting with your tablet). You can choose which device to answer with. You can also make your home phone ring and your mom's phone ring all at the same time and answer with whatever you want with the proper forwarding numbers.
For me right now, my phone (not my tablet) is signed into my GVoice account using the Talkatone. When someone calls my GVoice #, my Talkatone responds first (either because data is more responsive or google decides to try data first) then my phone rings. This way I can choose to hang up my phone and answer using Talkatone to enable VOIP instead of using my minutes.

I just picked up a new Z3 Unlocked with Dual sim mode and was having a very weird issue. I can make calls when the wifi is on, however, I do not receive incoming calls. It will ring twice and go to VM. Has anyone experienced this or know of way to fix it??
I've set the APN setting and everything works fine. I get LTE with AT&T and I have no issues except the issue with incoming calls on wifi.

I don't think you actually have wifi calling, as far as I know only tmo has a Z3 capable of wifi calling and its enabled by them and not Sony. I'm not sure if AT&T has even rolled out wifi calling on any phones yet, they've only stated their iPhones would get it sometime in 2015. Not sure how to solve your issue, but it can't be wifi calling.

Im not sure what it is exactly. It seems as if it wont switch between wifi and the network to receive calls. I cant turn on my wifi at home because ill miss calls.

The more detail you can provide about what you are attempting to do, what works and what does not, and the settings/state of your phone, the better.
Dumb question first: Are you sure you are on AT&T, not T-Mobile?
Also, is your Z3 T-Mobile branded by any chance? (You might then want to flash debranded Sony firmware... see the Android Development forum).
Do you have cellular coverage in your area? If you turn WiFi off (and be sure Airplane mode is off also!), are you able to send/receive any calls at all? Can you call voicemail? (Note that calling and receiving call is not dependent on data settings, such as APN).
Do you have another SIM nearby that you can try? (e.g. your SO's...)
Are you sure you have not configured your phone for SIP (VoIP)? Go to Settings -> Call Settings -> Internet Call Settings -> Use Internet calling -- make sure that it says Only to SIP address. (Internet calling is great -- I forward calls to my VOIPo number when unavailable/unanswered, where I can also "spoof" my outgoing number to match my cell phone number, receive my voice mails as email attachments, make calls from my computer, etc... but that's probably a couple of steps ahead).

I also use PhonePower for my "landline". We have a couple of SIP phones at home, and when going on vacations etc. we simply pick up our "home" calls on our cell phones (using the built-in SIP clients in Android and (gasp) Symbian).
PhonePower is better for international calls (VOIPo has a couple of restrictions, and also does not correctly interpret the "+" prefix in telephone numbers, the way I store them in my phonebook), whereas VOIPo is better as a "transparent" replacement for your cell phone number (if your cell phone is out of coverage, or in airplane mode), in that it can "spoof" the outgoing caller ID to match your cell phone number. (You'll have to verify it first of course).
I have purchased eSIM data plan with DENT eSIM because my carrier does not have option to use on my galaxy watch.
Now I get all notification etc on my watch normally but calls are not forwarded... Is there any way to achieve this?

Configure just normal call forwarding from your main phone number to the secondary. And you should have calls enabled on your eSim, not only internet.
Well I only have data plan on my watch so I am looking for solution that calls are forwarded via mobile data. And when I call from the watch the call should be going bia mobile data to the phone which would then make a call.

I don't think this is possible at all. Only through Bluetooth, or on highly customized smartphone ROM (like Samsung is using on their phones to achieve such functionality over Wi-Fi). And for sure - no - on any stock ROM.
Bluetooth-WiFi watch versions with non-Samsung phone, Remote Connection also work with WiFi.

As the watch asks which number to text/call from I generally assumed it would be able to call using the number attached to the esim that was uploaded to it.
In the UK I'm with O2 and they currently only suggest using a data only SIM to remote connect to your phone in order to place a call.
I eventually convinced them to setup an esim with a minutes and SMS allowance but the watch suggested that only emergency calls were possible.
So my question is can the Watch 4 make calls using its own number without being connected to a phone whatsoever?

You need phone only first time to set up data plan. Without phone you can't directly add number to watch.
But once added (and you can add multiple) there is dependcy on phone.
You can store multiple plans on watch and switch it to required number directly from watch
