Hi everybody!
I'm sorry if there's an answer for my question, but i haven't been able to find it. I'm wondering about my One S, just bought it and I don't know if it's network locked. I know I can insert another microSIM, but the thing is I only have one, and everybody around me use regular SIM cards. There isn't a mobile shop for miles away, so...
Is there a way to check it, without another microSIM?
Thanks!
Why? What's the point? Your phone works right?

it's so great when a question is answered with another question...
please, any HELPFUL info will be greatly appreciated
If you don't know whether it's locked or not, you need another microSIM. If you don't have that, just continue using your phone as normal.

Could be a Chinese knockoff. Be careful purchasing this.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Pretty sure it's a fake Chinese phone, don't ever buy one of those it probably has a very low res screen and ****ty specs so your better of with a cheap real android phone
Hi, i think its a HTC phone. what model is this??

Bud, he does not know the name or model!
I don't think HTC would be shy enough to not write their name on the phone/box

Its a chine knockoff of the desire, i think the screen is resistive and all that

it's a truth of the world that salesmen will lie to make a sale, it now appears that they will lie to prevent a sale....
no nexus S will ever be sim locked.
As far as I know every single Nexus S is factory unlocked (Google requirement)...
So does that mean the salesman is just lying?cuz at&t wanta it to be called "locked"?
Btw thanks for replies guys!

I've seen too many cellphone salesmen say so many incorrect things about devices, or their own plans and policies that I usually bundle them with used car salesmen until they've "proven themselves"...
Get it rooted, get Paid.......$685
So you want a dev who can find you a new exploit?
Sent from my Xperia Play using xda app-developers app
Yes, nobody can find an exploit of any kind on the latest 2.2x firmware. A lot of people are really hurting for it and the community has a $480 pot for anyone that can find an exploit.

B is for Bounty
U is for Unbelievable
M is for Massive
P is for Payout.
It is sad to see none of our own devs can find the hole but I'm sure someone can. Especially for close to $500!!

They're doing the best they can at the moment and under the current circumstances.
There's also a bounty for S-Off for the Evita XL.
I dream of a world where bounties don't exist in this form ... Where the manufacturer lets you use the device you own the way you want to.

Haaaalp. We needs roots to survive and stuff..
Bump!

It might not even be that our devs cant get it.
Think of it like writing a paper, and reading it right after you finish, and it looks good.
Give it to someone else, and they find plenty of errors.
Maybe we just need someone new to look at it, they might find something we (our community) didn't notice
..bump

Didn't mean it in a bad sense. The one x.devs are doing more then me, I don't have a distorted view on the matter at all.
I had an iPhone for years, sometimes it takes a big collaboration to find a hole, exploit it, and package it for mass consumption. I just really want root, android shouldn't be locked down

Whoops! Didn't mean to sound like I was implying anything, I understand totally man, I haven't had a phone unrooted for so long. I just wanted to say that we, and anyone who wants to help, has a LOT of work, since the current circumstances are not in our favor (AT&T are not playing nice at all).
Sorry about the misunderstanding.
If anyone out there wants to help, head over to these threads to see what we've been up to.

My dad is due for an upgrade and is thinking of getting the s4. He doesnt really know how to use anything from a technology standpoint so he is willing to let me have it and he'll take my s3. My question is do I need to be completely stock to switch phone numbers etc...? Thanks for any help.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Nah, just put your sim card in the S4 and his in the S3.

Hey thanks man. Do I need to activate his first or will mine act like a new one in the s4?

If you put yours in the S4 then the S4 will be active with your phone number. Your dad will have to get his SIM card activated to use on your S3

Could it be your SIM card occasionally loses contact with the phone because it's a bit loose?
Just get a new sim card.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Id take the sim card out and wipe off the contacts a bit. Make them nice and shiny and then put it back in.

I wonder if its a hardware issue. If I close it I still have signal. No need to restart
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Get a new sim from your carrier.
I had the same problem, eject the sim card and put it back in, make sure it's all the way in. It has not happened since I did that.
yea, seems like a contact issue, try reseating the sim, if that doesn't help i'd just go to att and ask for a new card
