I dont have a nexus 4, and wont for a couple of months, but since it doesnt have a removeable battery, these portable chargers might be useful.
2200MAH
2600MAH (these look really nice)
Have you tried them? I'm wondering what the reliability is like, do they quickly lose the power to hold charge?
I prefer the looks of this one better. Almost 6 full charges, for 3 dollars more than ordering and carrying around 6 of those things.

Ive tried the second one with my Epic 4G Touch. It drops about 1% each day that it isnt being used. It can charge my Epic (1800MAH) once, and the second time, goes about 35%

An important thing to note is that if your phone has a 2100mAh battery and you have a 2100mAh portable charger, you will not get a full charge out of it, as some is lost in transition. You will usually only get between 2/3 to 3/4 of the capacity of the portable charger transferred to your phone.
I have this for my Atrix 4G and will use it for my Nexus 4 when my back order ships. The Atrix 4G has an 1880mAh battery, and I get about two charges out of it. It is about twice as thick as the Atrix, but about half as wide and about an inch shorter. It also functions as a laser pointer and flashlight. It is rugged enough that I bring it camping with me and don't treat it with much care and it still works fine. Very solidly built.
I bought something like this from a seller on ebay, it came from china. It broke right away, but it seems people are having better luck then I did.
I really like the first one in the OP. I like that it can easily be plugged into the phone while using it. I just wish the capacity was a little bigger.

Anyone have experience with or can recommend a unit that is direct plugged and not needing a USB cable? Something more for emergency charging that is pocket portable carried for backup use for uses such as a quick charge at a concert or sporting event. Carried in blue jean pocket are a other small pocket.
I just ordered this for $23. It looks really thin and has a retractable micro usb plug, which is huge for me. This may be good for the person who just posted before me too:

I also ordered this one for my wife:
http://www.amazon.com/AnkerĀ®-Astro-...UTF8&qid=1353778415&sr=8-1&keywords=Anker+lip
In addition, the company, Anker, also has a few bigger models with a lot more capacity if you're interested. I haven't bought any of their products before, but the reviews all seem to be very positive.

Hi there,
dunno if anyone start thread like this but I wanna ask can someone recommend me a decent solar charger for my sensation. I google it a lot, but I wanna know yours opinions and experience
Thanks a lot
Waste of money mate. Barely get any charge from such a small panel
powertraveller.com/iwantsome/primatepower/powermonkeyextreme/
Of course they have cheaper smaller versions too, but I would recommend this because of the ample capacity of it's battery.
Waist of money, but if you have some small soldering skills, you could do what i have done, one of this :http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200617398704&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
And one :http://cgi.ebay.com/5V-700mA-Solar-...ltDomain_0&hash=item3368ecd49f#ht_7577wt_1037
Solder this up, and you got yourself a charger that is nearly as powerful as the mains charger in sunlight, and still being able to charge while its cloudy!

I've got one of these. They are one of the few solar solutions that can actually work. Can only be bettered if you go for a DIY solution as suggested but if you want something neat out of the box this is the way to go!

Be careful with solar chargers on ebay and dealextreme. i ordered two for my old inspire 4g. First, I made it wait for 10-12 hours in sun to charge its internal battery. Then i plugged the charger to the phone. It just charged for 1 min. Then, i thought something went wrong and i looked inner parts of the charger and I was shocked. The battery was a cheap-old-used nokia battery. There is nothing about to be trustworthy. The other charger had some different battery but it was also some cheap-crap. I am going to test the pannels for the output current and voltage. I will combine them to get a good current but i dunno if are they working. I will test them in the lab

I've found that unless you are in super bright sunlight on the middle of the beach when the sun is directly above you that solar panels usually give off less then half of what they are rated for. When you put it through a booster you loose a bit of that too.
I think a better halfway point would be to use the solar to charge up a rechargeable battery then put that through to boost converter. Kinda of like done here: adafruit.com/blog/2010/07/09/how-to-make-a-solar-mintyboost-a-solar-power-charger-for-your-gadgets/
that way you don't risk loosing power every time a cloud flies overhead.
I don't have much money
You won't loose power with my solution as it will still charge when its cloudy
Its cheap too!

Will do more testing and post results but it appears to be as advertised. Smaller than I thought and charges fast. Size comparisons attached. Alright. I know I said I was going to review this device, but I don't think that's necessary. I use my phone nonstop. I'm usually having to charge by noon. So at around lunch time I plugged my phone to the powerbank. Connected to WiFi and played pocket legends on and off for about 30 min. Finished that and read news for the rest. Back at work streamed comedy radio, read some pulse feeds, everything syncing, forgot to turn WiFi back off lol, but didn't matter. Got home after work and played FIFA a bit, read some pulse feeds again. Downloaded some stuff and still have all lights on the powerbank. At this rate I won't have to charge all week. Hell I've had it for 2 days and its already impressed me lol. Thing is just too awesome. I'll let you guys know when it finally dies.

isn't it more logical to have an extended battery with you in daily life? their cost is better and they are slimmer than these kind of things
But with this you can charge anything.... And when you buy new phone you can still use this....
And if there is extended battery with 8000+ mah of power it wouldn't be much slimmer ;-)....
I would buy this in a heartbeat if I had the money.... But for now its a dream...
how long does it take to fully charge your phone with it and how long does it take to charge the "unit"? thanks.
Just looked for this on ebay and it's selling for 55 shipped

Question!
When charging on either of the ports, check your battery info.
Does it say it's charging over USB or charging over AC?
If USB, it'll only draw under 500mAh, not the full 600 or 2000, so as to protect PCs' usb power circuits.
Thanks for the info, I had search something like that since long time !
Well that's the beauty of it. It's slim in its own right for what it does. I'm not exactly sure how long it takes to fully charge. It's my habit to plug up my electronics at night so not sure.
I do.t get the pop up that says my phone is using more current while I have it plugged into it and usi.g it so I guess its full ac. The 2v port charges an iPad and the other my phone in the car so its a powerful device. I see it as way more convient than extra batteries cause its interchangeable and I don't have to replace it with new phones and devices. My opinion of course .
The USB cords that came with it have adapters that can be switched with different connector types. Their is a mini and micro USB, one for camcorders, cameras, and something else. I'll take some pictures and post um when I get home. I'm at my brother's place now. Stay tuned.

I looked all over eBay and all I see are cases for the international HOX and I really want to be able to have one that works for our phone. I remember mugen mentioning that they would have one out already, but they said that over a month ago. Are companies not making it because HTC's sales in the recent quarter was extremely low compared to the projected numbers? If anybody has found one please let me know I love everything about this phone but I hate lugging around a charger, and I don't always have access or the time to plug it in.
PS I don't want to hear anybody come in and say they get 4 hours of screen time blah blah blah on whatever mods they do. That's great, but 4 hours of screen time equals about 6 hours of total usage which is only half the day for me. I'm a college student and I do a lot on my phone whether it be in class taking notes, or on conference calls.
And I'm not complaining about the phone, just lack of this particular accessory. I believe this is a damn near perfect phone I just want the juice to make it even more perfect!
There's no battery cases that are either good or work for the S4 variant as the pins are placed differently.
There are however external battery packs that are relatively small and provide a punch. Had one for the Sammy Vibrant and was super easy to hide in back pack, as you are a college student.

Haven't fully tested, but judging by the MaH, I would expect to be able to charge it two or three times over at least.
Actually judging by the mah I'd say it would charge it around 4 times.
10,000/1,800 is a little more than 5 so its safe to assume 4 times over.

These external chargers actually lose quite a bit of power in translation... I think I remember reading it's a 35% loss but don't remember exactly, so that 10000 mah is really more like 6500 for the phone (somewhere along those lines, anyways).

I really hope a better looking one comes out the options are either cheap looking or incompatible from the moved pins
My wife got one of these for everyone in the family for Valentine's day.
She didn't say where or how much but she's a QVC fan so I'm guessing she got it here:
http://www.qvc.com/HALO-2800mAh-Poc...Cellphones-&-Electronics.product.E223301.html
$30 each + S&H, but cheaper if you order several
More info here:
http://stores.halo2cloud.com/-strse-17/Halo-Pocket-Power-2800/Detail.bok
and here:
http://halo2cloud.com/resource/pdf/PocketPower2800UserGuide.pdf
The good things:
When you press a button, an LED lights Green for almost full, blue for half-full, red for almost empty
Delivers 1000 milliAmps while charging phone... should charge it 20-100% in about 1.5 hours.
The bad things:
The usb port on the powerpack is a female USB (just like on your pc).
So when charging your phone from the powerpack, you can use any old cord (which is fine) BUT....
.... when charging the powerpack (from your pc or your normal charger), you need a special female-to-female USB cord. The supplied multi-purpose cord fits the bill, but if you ever lose it, you'll have a hard time finding another. The typical USB cable has male on one end and female on the other. I guess I'll rubber band the cord together with the powerpack so I always have the cord handy when/where I need it.
I previously bought 3 Feipusi batteries for $5 each. That seemed like a good emergency/backup plan to me. A spare battery is actually much smaller and easier to carry around than this power pack plus the cord. I guess this is handier backup plan since you don't have to power down the phone and pull of the back. Also if you want to help out a a buddy with a different style phone, chances are your battery won't fit his phone but this powerpack will work.
I prefer to extend tu life of my phone . I got a 2100mah battery for 7$ on ebay to replace the stock 1750mah . $7???? went to ebay and they were all $34+ except for one from China that didn't say what it was. I have the OEM and a 3500mah but that extended back is a killer (slippier). Someone suggested a couple of coatings of liquid rubber for the back would work. Haven't gotten to that point and if I can find a battery at the right price like you did, I might never get to that option.

It is a myth that you need to drain a new battery. Modern li-ion batteries do not need this and actually hurts battery life. Do a google search for "drain new battery myth" and you will see many articles on the subject.
After all the research I've done, it seems that any time you let your battery get below 65% or so, you are actually hurting battery life and will have to get a new one sooner than later.
Well this new battery and running Avatar 0n my phone it lasts me from sun up till after sun down every day with lots of use on my breaks at work and beyond. Totally love it. Way better than b4 when it lasted maybe 6 hours

Hi guys,
I'm relatively new to this forum and I was wondering if anyone here have had any experienced with a standard generic Qi charger from China. I'd recently purchased one online and have been using it for over 2 days now without any problems.
My intention was to actually try this product first before I get a charger from reputable brands such as Energizer or even the Nexus Orb. Is there any difference between these charging pad or should I just stick to the one I have now?
Thanks

it would be helpful if you can mention the brand name or post a pic, if you still cant provide url. i'm recently ordering fasttech wireless charger too, still waiting to be delivered.
As long as it is charging the device, and it doesn't feel like it is getting too hot, then I would stay with what you got.
I think the benefit of the orb is that it holds it at an angle so you can see it while sitting, but that is just a small benefit that normally doesn't matter.

Just got a fasttech charger, figured Id give it a shot. Makes me appreciate the orb more and makes me feel better about spending twice as much on the orb. The orb uses micro USB (aka universal), secures the phone and doesnt have the obnoxious blue LED on it. Also, the fasttech seems finicky about charging, you have to get it just right. The orb doesnt seem to care.
Something weird happened to my charging pad last night. Apparently, I wanted to gauge how long will it take for the pad to charge my Nexus 4 to 100% from 10%. So after making sure that my battery was at 10%, I left it on the charger and went to bed.
However earlier this morning, I find that my battery was only at 84% charged (after nearly 5 hours of charging). A quick look at the battery stats shows that it charged normally from 10% to 80% and then dropped down to 70% (on battery and pad did not charged, I reckoned). After that, it was charging again to 84% and stayed flat at that percentage till morning. Weird right?
