You mean the Unlock code from the HTC dev website?
I had similar troubles, I got through it by connecting to:
#HTC-one-XL
#android-root
and
#TWRP
on irc.freenode.net using my IRC client.
and asking the friendly people there.
If you're not familiar with IRC, can you post more about your situation here?
What OS are you running on the computer?
What "steps" have you been following? Link us to the thread.

I also have a telus hox. What part are you stuck on exactly?

my IS is windows 8 I have the driver sig disabled for ADB to work and I was able to retrieve the unlock code 3 times but it will not allow me to sendthe unlock bin file. Says cannot load
Unlock_code bin file, so I followed a guide someone made for Telus one X owners and try to use a spoof bat to install it still no luck I'm on
android 4.0.3.,htc sense 4.0, fw 1.91.661.4,htc sdkapi level 4.11.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

So you got the unlock_code.bin file in your email and your put it with your adb and fastboot files correct?
And once that's in the same folder you opened a command prompt and typed
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin

Yes and it comes up saying cannot load that it can't load that file.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

Are you sure it's in the same folder. and you are typing the command in properly with upper and lower case where it should be?
Double check the name of the file in the folder to be sure. Sometimes windows adds (1) to the end or something

Yes in sure I have rooted an htc desire z, htc desire c, Samsung galaxy tablet, nexus 7, its just this one is being very strange on the final step.

There is your problem. Win8 is extremely problematic right now. Your drivers are not synching/downloading/installing. Even with downloading HTC sync. You'll have to do that from a computer that has win7 or lower, wait for the driver updates for win8 come out, or you could dual boot you PC with Ubuntu and do it on Ubuntu.

Need a Mac toolkit for a Nexus s4g... Could do it the long way but thought I'd ask first. Did it on a galaxy Nexus but ran into some small problems. Got it done but with some stress. Thus why I'm looking for a one click tool kit for Mac... Can only find windows versions. Thanx in advance.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Look for fastboot and usb drivers for mac instead of a one click thing. This way you might succeed.
Sent from my Nexus S
No drivers needed on Mac... I was successful wit my Galaxy Nexus. It was just a little harder. Toolkits make it so easy. Just figured I'd look first. Thanx
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
It's not that difficult. The only thing you need are the proper files. Get latest Cwm or twrp recovery and once you flashed that, flash the superuser zip or superSU.

im bricked from flashing a kernel, need some help

I tried to flash 5.4 elemental last night and it went stupid and bricked me when it was complete. several users have instructed me to use the jet tool. I have set up the usb ubuntu and have it running but im unsure what any of this means really. when i ran the jet tool i get
[email protected]:~$ cd /home/ubuntu
[email protected]:~$ cd home/ubuntu
bash: cd: home/ubuntu: No such file or directory
[email protected]:~$ cd jet
[email protected]:~/jet$ chmod +x jet
[email protected]:~/jet$ sudo ./jet
JET - Jewel/Evita Toolkit v0.3.3beta
This tool will put backup critical partition data and then put your phone
into QHSUSB mode, where it will then downgrade your HBOOT.
Before running this script, you should have TWRP loaded onto your phone.
Plug your phone in via USB and ensure USB debugging is enabled.
Press Enter to continue...
Preparing...
This phase backs up /dev/block/mmcblk0p4 from your phone to this machine. In
addition, we will fetch your IMEI from the phone and use it to create an
additional partition 4 replacement to use as a failsafe. In the
event something goes wrong, you'll have a way to unbrick manually.
Please stand by...

Press the up arrow on your keyboard to bring up the last command you typed in the terminal, then press enter. Do that over and over. Up, enter, up, enter, up, enter, etc.
I'm not sure what I got but it's something

has to be sd* not s* and you would get 36. you have a short window to catch them so you may not be spamming enough to catch it.
if you dont see those emmc partitions you're full bricked.
Good catch I didn't realize I left the d out, my wife is driving and I'm trying to work on this and its hard to focus

Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
If they catch that you unlocked the bootloader, they charge to replace the main board which HTC told me would be around 200$.
JTAG is about 100$

Yes your emmc partition table is gone. Only a jtag or replacement will work

If I knew someone that could reprogram it I'd consider the j-tag deal but I'm clueless about it

the lady at att said i got my phone wet and that they couldnt cover it, i was about to get a warranty exchange until she seen my strip was red. i dont ever recall getting it wet and it didnt mess up until i tried to install that kernel. its probably a good thing she seen that though because they would have sent me a new phone and then got my old one and probably seen it was unlocked, or do they see that? if all the partitions are wiped clean and there is no hboot how do they know what happened?

You're imei when you unlock it. But we talked about it a bit on here and none of us know for sure how close an eye they keep on that. Sucks about the water. Even sweat or snow or Moist air/steam can turn that thing red so it's a really ****ty indicator of whether or not there's actual water damage.
I have heard of the flash zip partition repair so that you can enter recovery without sd card and flash manually, could something like this be used in this situation?

You need recovery for that to work unfortunately and it seems to be related to samsung phones which I'm 90% sure has a different emmc partition table.
With our EMMC bricks you can't get into anything other than QDL mode. Jtag or Replace motherboard only.

New inspire problem with rooting

So I get a new inspire everything works great it connects to my computer..... Win 8......I try to use the easy ace root kit and it gets me half way through then does some download thing then pops up a windows for the a hboot update.. I figured it was part of the process so I went with it but when it goes to update my computer loses connection to my phone via usb... I'm all stock 2.3 3.... I truly want root and custom recovery. Any ideas what's going on?

AAHK is retired. You can still unlock the bootloader.
I'm not using the aahk kit om using the easy ace kit
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app
Ah, my bad. Have you tried running it again? Is the cord loose? Are there any error messages?
Checked a few different cables they all seem to work and do they same the tool kit fires up and I hit selection 1 then it downloads a hboot update tool so I run it as soon as that happens my computer pops up a notification saying the last usb device could not be recognized.... I'll try it again soon and take cream shots of what's going on and also ill try it on my win xp machine
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app
Note..... Usb debugging is on and fast boot is disabled... And phone is set to charge only......After the cmd part of the root when it downloads the hboot updater is when it does it..... It also reboots my phone to the hboot screen and that's when it loses its connection

ok, glad you sort it out. For the next try, Win8 needs the 4.x version of the drivers, otherwise it will not work. :good:
That's just it I had the 4.x on there and still didn't work.... Note there is a usb error in win 8 that hasn't been fixed yet by Microsoft but I didn't try to fix it or research it tried updating it but no luck also tried Microsoft site... Got inpatient and just ran it through vmware workstation

[Q]2.20 RUU

Hi. I've been running CleanROM for a while and i've recently decided to go back to stock. I relocked my bootloader and ran the 2.20 RUU. Everything went fine and I finished the setup. I decided to do the OTA update for 3.18 so I downloaded it and ran it. My phone reboot and now it won't turn on. Have I bricked my phone?
Sorry for the double post, but I think i've bricked my phone . Look at this screenshot
http://i43.tinypic.com/2ccp9ic.jpg
You can try the unbrick evita thread. Just Google unbrick evita. You'll need to use Linux. There's a guide to making a Linux boot usb in q&a if you need it.

I'm going to try this Ubuntu method and see if it works. I absolutely cannot afford a new phone right now lol.
Well I tried using this method:

No luck. Are there anymore tutorials out there? Maybe I downloaded the wrong file.

It is because you wasn't trying to s off. Go to the android development section and look for unbricking the one x.

Just curious if this method could be tweaked to work with our phones for those who have bricked.

On first impression, I don't think so. It's fixing a completely different kind of brick from what we've got going on here. I think it would fail at the first step because the partitions won't enumerate properly.
Hi All -
I've got a bricked HTC One XL here (tried to unroot to use Good for Enterprise) and I've been trying this method to get any life back. I'm getting stuck at step 6, with error FATAL: Module qcserial is in use.
Also, when I run ls /dev/sd* I only see /dev/sda, /dev/sda1 and /dev/sda2. Am I missing something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The unbrick Evita thread is the only one that has a chance of working for an HTC one XL.
And you should be able to see one sdb for example with many numbers. Like in the picture in the unbrick Evita thread.

Hmm...okay, well what does the fact that I only see /dev/sda, /dev/sda1 and /dev/sda2 mean? Does it mean that I have a paperweight or is there still hope?
Thanks!
It means you have a paperweight, but it's possible you're not spamming enough for the partitions to enumerate. So I would try a few times if you haven't before giving up.
But you need those partitions to enumerate properly to be able to fix it.

How did you flash the ROM in the first place if you don't know how to flash the boot.img by fastboot? This all very basic stuff that you should know if you're going to modify your phone.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img

There is no such thing as a bootloader command. It's either an adb command or a fastboot command, and in this case it's fastboot.
