[Q] Need help messed up my Atrix 2 - Motorola Atrix 2

Hey there, So I got a problem. First off im not new to rooting and flashing custom roms been doing for some time now and im loving it. Heres my problem that I got on my rooted Atrix 2. I was running Gingerbread 2.3.6 then AT&T came out with Ice Cream so I did the update and before I updated message popped up and said once you update to Ice Cream you will no longer be able to switch to Gingerbread ok no big deal . So I updated everything went smooth. Phone rebooted started playing with the phone loved everything EXCEPT! I tried attaching picture to text message and if its to big to attach usually phone says to resize or cancel so I press resize and I get a message "saying message limit reached!?!" I never had no problem with Gingerbread so after using the new Ice Cream I decided to flash a rom 4.0.4 ICSupercharged Fixed Leak #2. Flashed rom no problem hoping it would fix the picture image resize problem NOPE! Still get same message. So I got pissed and got the 2.3.6 fxz.zip file and flash the phone BUT! while I was all hot! I forgot to BACK UP RECOVERY my phone. So after getting 2.3.6 back on my phone now when I turn my phone on it stay on at the Motorola Dual-Core screen sometimes restarts looping and just stays on same screen. So I know that in Android factory recovery I cant install any zip. files because they are not digitally signed so every time I try install update from sdcard I get error E: signature verification failed. I ran into this before but I had a back up made so I could recover phone. But not this time I need your help! Im stuck until I either have a signed custom image or stock recovery. Please help me I desperately need my phone to be back working. THANKZ!

Did you use one of the leaks from here or are you in the official ICS? If you're on the first leak, you can still get back to 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 safely. If you used the ota, or the second leak, I think you'll have to use the fxz found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961310

I just went to setting about phone and did check for update and Download ICS from AT&T installed it then I flashed the leak#2. I have the FXZ for 2.3.6 and 2.3.5 The FXZ worked when it was done the phone restarted and just loops and stays on Motorola Dual-Core Screen. I used the FXZ before and had this problem but last time I did a backup of the phone so after I used the FXZ I went into Stock Android recovery and used the back up. But another thing dunno but shouldnt the FXZ have a custom recovery/backup file in the zip. Oh and after doing the FXZ my phone is now unrooted says (S) that means its not rooted correct?

I got that FXZ from the link you gave me. Dont matter what zip I out and try to apply It says E: verification signature fail. Because its not Digital Signed.

Wait, where are you trying to apply these zips from? Please tell me it is not the stock recovery. You MUST use bootstrap or bootmenu or similar to get CWM on your phone.

Fxz is to be used with rsd lite, not flashed in recovery. It'll return your phone back to stock, unrooted, no custom anything. After you use it you'll have to re root and install a custom recovery to flash any zips.

Yes in stock recovery mode. Yea but can you install bootstap or bootmenu in stock recover mode its a APK file. I thought you can only install zip. files? And to root the phone i have to have it on and when you plug the usb cable to the phone you select charge only. I think I need someone to make a back up of their phone and send it to my email or something and then I can put it in my sdcard and go into recovery mode and try installing it.

If you can only get into recovery mode and can't boot you need to use the fxz. If you can boot into android, you install the bootstrap apk then allow it root permissions, and hit boot into bootstrap from within the app. You can then flash any ROM from there.
Sounds like you need to do some reading. I would not do any flashing or hacking until you learn the ins and outs of this phone. It is quite different from other phones since it has a locked bootloader.

Yea and now my phones battery is dead and I have a white LED light on?

Cant update ROM. What am I doing wrong

I have a NS unlocked and rooted. I have ROM Manager, busybox etc. I followed all the instructions but I can't update ROMs or the 2.3.3 update or CM7 nothing. Each time it starts to unpack or whatever it gets about 1/3 the way and aborts. Something about verifying signatures or something.
Very frustrating.
Thanx in advance

try to download the ROM again
sounds like the zip file is corrupted
What version Clockwork Recovery are you using? Try reverting back to a older version or something.
Verify the ROM's MD5 Hash using HashTab (Google it)
I've tried several times with downloads and now the latest clockwork and the version prior.
Samething always aborts, can't verify signature. Tried manual and through rom manager.
When using rom manager is that suppose to do the whole install? Cuz that only gets me to the little droid and the triangle. I have to get myself into bootloader and continue manually from there.
Thanks

Hmm... It sounds like clockwork isn't properly installed. ROM Manager should take you directly to clockwork recovery without you having to do anything.
the problem you are facing is that you are still on stock rom. so even if you flash clockwork recovery and then reboot to recovery, you'll always end up going to the stock recovery. this is a new feature implemented by google.
what you should do is...
1) go to bootloader
2)flash the clockwork recovery using fastboot
3)DO NOT reboot the phone or quit bootloader. immediately after flashing the rec. using fastboot, just enter recovery (through bootloader)
4)flash you new rom
just for u to have an idea. the recovery should be orange in colour.
option 2.
you also have the option of using a file manager with moun/root functions such as root explorer and rename the recovery script in etc folder but i guess step 1 is much easier for now.
OK I played alot today and this is what happened.
After fixing permissions and flashing the new CWM and wiping data/cache it finally worked. Unfortunately titanium and my backup didnt bring everything over. So I went back and forth between stock and CM7 several times but I just couldnt get all my stuff back in CM7. So I thought Id try the 2.3.3 update but not wiping stuff. That didnt work. Then I tried one more time with CM7 but not wiping. I couldnt get pastthe little CM7 droid on the skateboard. So went back to stock for now. Ill have more time on Sat to give things another try.
At least I can get in it now.
Any ideas/thoughts/
Thanks and sorry for the long post.

[Please Help] Flashing Stock Rom Using NVFlash

I can't figure out for the life of me how to flash my G2X back to stock using the stock firmware. Can you please help me figure out what to put into NVFlash to get the stock rom back onto this phone. Please don't tell me to search, I've been doing that all day. I have the LG Firmware file. I was stupid and put that pre-release gingerbread on it, but thats worse than what came with it.
To flash the phone back to its original recovery you do this
Restore LG G2x Stock Recovery
Flash Stock recovery only when you want to send your phone in to T-Mobile. Otherwise do not flash Stock recovery. Stay on ClockworkMod Recovery.
Remove the battery.
Goto NvFlash directory and Double Click "OneClickRecoveryFlasher.exe".
Make sure the USB cable is unplugged from your phone.
Hold Volume Up and Volume Down at the same time keeping them held down. (Keep them held until you see the "S/W Upgrade" screen on your phone after you complete step7!).
Plug in the USB cable to your phone.
Click the "Flash Stock" button.
You should see it send a bunch of files to the device and the phone screen should say "S/W Upgrade - Please wait while upgrading...". Once the files are sent and the program is finished running in the command window, you can just pull the USB cord while it still says "S/W Upgrade - Please wait while upgrading...".
Put the battery back and you are done.
Now if its the ROM that your having issues with then just flash another ROM to it man
PS
I think doing the 1st step gives you back everything to its oringal state. NOt sure though.
I already did flash the recovery I want to flash the original shipped rom to it and I can't figure it out, obviously it can be done, and well I feel like quite the disgrace since i used to work for google in mountain view lol
Oohhhh the ROM
Well lets see isn't this it?
The only thing though is that its rooted.
I'll keep tryna check for you though

First you'll want to use the Nandroid file (linked already in post #4) to return to stock rom. Then you'll want to use NVflash to get back to stock recovery. Then use SuperOneClick to unroot. That's the only way to get unrooted stock.

Download the file in this thread. Extract the contents to your SD Card. Boot into Clockwork Recovery. Restore a backup. Select the folder where you extracted said file. Fix permissions. Reboot. Enjoy stock rom.
Doesn't work, it says MD5 Checksum mismatch. I want to flash the stock LG Flash File. The AP and CP bin files.

[Q] CM7 / ICS Flashing issues

I soft bricked my phone playing with ICS, I got a JIG and solved the problem
I can now ODIN back to any version and once rooted I can install any samsung based rom, the problem comes when I try to flash aosp both CM7 and any ICS beta
What happens is I select the zip, it runs a script and the phone reboots, I see the AT&T logo and then it mounts the sd card, it says it can't find the zip file.
I've tried Froyo, Eclair, even gingerbread (I know your not supposed to flash cm7 from gingerbread, I'm just running outta ideas) I have froyo bootloaders, I reinstalled them with heimdal. I've also done a master clear and erased the internal sd card
Does anyone have an idea of why this is happening?
Are you trying to install the zip from ClockworkMod?
Most likely, the rom is incompatible with the flash method you are choosing which bricks your phone. I had this happen to me twice from either flashing a rom the wrong way or just trying to flash the wrong rom all together and killing my system, but I ended up telling AT&T Techs that it happened when I tried upgrading to 2.2 to avoid warranty issues and they replaced my whole device with a refurbished unit =]
However keep in mind that they cannot jig your device and you will have to do that yourself to get your data off your device before you try getting a new one via this method.
Possible Solution:
1. If you can, flash cm7 to your device
2. Flash This ICS rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363760
If you have already tried this then I apologize, but I hope this helps.
Another problem
Ok, everything I see says I should flash from a captivatemtd recovery, but when I install Rom manager and select captivatemtd, it says their are no offical recoveries for it, I'm currently running cognition froyo 2.2 with froyo bootloaders
Does anyone know where I can manually get the captivatemtd CWM? and how do I install it?

I'll go over my method of installing(I've had ZERO issues flashing from/to any ROM)
1. I FTS/MC using Odin 1 Click. My phone build is 1008
2. Root with 1 click root(I have to do steps 2 and 3 because I do not have 3 button recovery)
3. Sideload and install ROM Manager(Rom manager, and CWM update.zip are in the Sideload zip that's attached)
4. Copy CWM Update.zip and ROM to device. Reboot and install CWM
5. Reboot into recovery and install ROM
Odin 1 Click(If you can use it)
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12100225/Odin I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0.zip
Root 1 Click
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12100225/Root.zip
Sideload Wonder Machine and ROM Manager
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12100225/Sideloading.zip
Edit** What is the build number of your phone?
Here's what you need
Just download this rom
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/cm_captivatemtd_full-181.zip
And then watch this video!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBPu-GqM9RE
Flash CM7 using odin
then flash ICS using clockwork mod using the instructions I gave you before.
That's the easiest way I found to do it and that's how I went from stock rom to CM7 rom and then finally to ICS

Tried this to the letter still doesn't work, could it be because of rom manager not finding a recovery for captivatemtd, some pages say I need that recovery but it isn't available in rom manager.
Finnally
Finnally got CM7 installed the problem was I had to do the three button boot into recovery twice, the first time updates clockworkmod to version 5.x
Now to try ICS again, wish me luck
Thanks
Thanks for all the suggestions, the tip in the video about flashing the speedmod kernel did help I think, I've successfully flashed
teamhacksung's ICS Port for Captivate (BUILD 9) again.
A couple notes here:
1 when your flashing cm7 from cwm( NOT 3e RECOVERY THOUGH) you need to flash the. Zip file, then reboot system, IT WILL PROBABLY BOOT LOOP, three button back to recovery and flash again, then while in recovery still flash gapps. Reboot and it will install fine. You should ONLY need to do the two time flash the first time going to cm7.
2. When you go to rom manager and choose manual flash overide from hitting the menu button you will get the unsupported recovery, DON'T WORRY about it and hit ok. Then another popup will come up and choose 3.x and it will work.

[Q] stuck, now what? looking for help/ideas

hello, let me explain what i did and maybe theres a solution one you pros can help with.....
gt6210
So one day i decided to root and eventually backup everything. So i went directly to this guide but didn't install the pernament cwm thru odin like the guide said.
I decided i didnt need root, and rather not have it on my tab and not knowing how to remove i decide just to flash back to stock HC the update
to ICS thru kies like i did before. so it just sat there in a endless boot loop for 30 mins going thru the samsung animation. so i figured i would
wipe cache and do a factory reset.
Now its locked at the samsung logo, flashed back to stock HC, same thing stuck, only download mode available wont go into recovery,
flash to leaked ICS that was in the guide above still stuck but i got the recovery 3e screen.
So i figured i just bricked it thru the EMMC bug when i reset/wiped thru the stock recovery.....
i went to this EMMC fix guide and from the recovery 3e i ran cwm.zip that was in the
root guide and ran emmc_find_brick_start.zip it scanned and never stopped just came back to cwm screen.
what next? ive been flashing different pit file, going back to hc and ics etc.........
i dont want to sound like a tool, although i feel like one ATM i really need my tablet. I'm on dialysis right now waiting
for a kidney transplant and i spend a lot of time at the hospital surfing on this thing and i can't afford to buy a new one
since i'm disability.
any ideas/suggestions? throw them on here, ill try anything.
forgot to mention on the recovery 3e sceen at the bottom it says
installing package

E:main :: can't mount /systemE:failed to mount /system (invalid arguement)
what does this mean?

If you still have CWM as your recovery, then your attempts to flash stock ROM with ODIN failed.
Did you get an error?
What happens when you try to flash stock ROMs?
Have you tried Flashing the Stock ICS Rom with Odin?

you made your life harder than it should have, to unroot, just install SuperSU, and use its "Full Unroot" function. Don't forget to uninstall Superuser. Note that for next time.
Have you tried flashing to any ICS stock rom through Odin/Heimdall? If you did, which one did you use? If not, you could try flashing this one from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777303 first and see how it goes.

sorry i had to edit my links, not enough post count to enable outside links.....
i tried to odin stock hc from the gt6210 root guide and on reboot i got errors, see the HC pic attachment
couldn't get the stock recovery, so i flashed cwm 6.0.1.9 and no matter how many
tries or button pushes i couldn't get in the recovery screen (battery symbol flicker for a sec)
Am i flashing incorrectly? i load up the files under PDA.
i then tried flashing GT_P6210_ICS_Latest_Leak_Odin_Package.zip from the same root guide.
and got more errors see "ics reboot"attachment
i popped the cwm.zip file (temporary CWM as described in the root guide)
cwm temp pic
i ran the 120824-151927-emmc_find_brick_start.zip thru this twice and it finished its
scan and came back to the menu.
i found a another version on cwm that can be installed by sdcard
now only then under ics and this version of cwm can i use the vol+ and power to get into recovery.
ran the brick start file here as well same thing ran thru then came back to the menu.
i'm rereading the EMMC guide again since i don't feel out of wack like the last couple of days
****update, i figure i'd flash ics and cwm 6.0.1.9 again and it finally let me get into the menu, now running the EMMC start
if you can successfully flash stock ICS (just flash it and NOT the CWM first) and it boots. , Then you don't have EMMC bug issues. Otherwise it would fail.

If I use Odin to flash stock HC or ICS it always says successful, on reboot that's when I get errors like in the attachment in my last post. eMMC files (start and end) they scan everything then says completed. It never froze at all.
If its not the bug what is it that gives those errors? Those stock files are from the gt6210 root guide and have used before.
So am I not flash correctly on Odin?

I still don;t understand what error you are getting.?
If you flash the stock rom in odin and nothing else, what happens?
IF you flash only the stock rom in ODIN and you still see what you show on the pictures when it boots, you have a corrupt update file on your SD card. Remove the SD card

Charge your battery up, and try using RSD to flash the Official ICS image. Maybe something isn't getting patched or overwritten in the upgrade to ICS.
The ICS image can be found here, and if you don't know how to use RSDlite, check the noob guide. All the details are there.

First, make sure your drivers and RSDlite are up to date. This isn't totally necessary, but you might as well have a clean slate to go from. So make sure your phone is unplugged from your pc, uninstall MotoDeviceManager, reboot, then install it again from here.
RSDlite 6 is here
After everything is fresh, connect your phone and give it a few minutes to detect and install your drivers. Once that's done, boot into fastboot and verify that it sees your device, if you're already in fastboot then just verify.
Code:
fastboot devices
On your phone screen it should tell you what bootloader version you have, it should say 0A.72, if not, then stop and post back what it says. Otherwise, open RSDlite, and try to flash the Official ICS FXZ you downloaded previously. By the way, the FXZ should be named InlineFlashing_Edison_67.21.125_CFC_P3_APBP.xml.zip and the MD5sum should be 2BF9CCD528C05D26523ACC5B38AC76C6 if neither of those match, you need to make sure you have the right FXZ and make sure that the MD5sum matches what I posted.
So, if all is well and everything checks out, point RSDlite to the FXZ and start the flash, be patient. If it still fails, then you might try this. It's a way to flash the Official AT&T ICS FXZ without RSDlite, just download it, extract it, and follow the simple instructions in the readme.txt. Make sure RSDlite is closed before you run the .bat file. If you have to resort to this method, and it works for you, make sure you find Alteredlikeness around here and thank him, he put the script together.
If none of that works, then post back and we'll go from there.
Ok so i booted into fastboot and it says the bootloader is 0A.65

Alright, your bootloader is still for 2.3.6, obviously the OTA attempt never flashed the new one, or it never went properly. You might download the 2.3.6 FXZ here the MD5 sum for it is FCC0FBFDEDEAE084F90E34BF2523EB27
Flash it with RSDlite, that will hopefully get you on a clean and stable GB 2.3.6 After that, if you want to get on ICS and need some help, post back, or if getting back to 2.3.6 doesn't work, post back.
Um ok so i tried flashing that file and it stopped at 3/20 flash mbmloader mbmloader.bin phone return fail

How did you get into the state you're in originally? Did you try to flash something? A rom? A FXZ? You said you got a used Atrix2, was it messed up from the get go? Anyway, download this unzip it and follow the directions in the readme.txt. You'll need to unzip the Official ICS 4.0.4 FXZ that you downloaded previously as well. Basically unzip the ICS FXZ on your desktop (not the 2.3.6), then unzip the restore script and put everything in your unzipped 4.0.4 FXZ, put your phone into fastboot mode and run the restore-to-ics.bat file. Post back with results.
*Note - keep an eye on your bootloader version, if it changes from 0A.65 do NOT try and flash anything Gingerbread, you'll have to stick strictly to ICS if that changes.
Alright so i copied the batch files into the ics fxz and when i try flashing after the bootloader flashes the atrix2 says flash faliure at the top and when the entire flash is done it just returns to fastboot as if nothing happened. Also, when i reboot the phone the first time after the flash it boots into stock recovery

I'm running out of ideas. Since you can get into recovery, maybe try putting the ICS OTA on your SDcard. From the recovery, do a factory reset, wipe the cache, then try updating from external storage.
If all of that doesn't work, you might try another USB port, or another computer, and try RSDlite and the ICS FXZ again. According to your bootloader, you're still on 2.3.6, so the ICS FXZ should work and just replace everything. Maybe Jim or someone can help you along.
Here is a link to the 1st ICS leak, you can put that on your SDcard and flash it from recovery. Also, since it is the 1st leak build, you can restore to GB using a specific method outlined here. But if you can at least get the ICS leak to flash, you still have an option to update to the Official ICS.
Do not try to flash GB once you update. If you manage to get on ICS leak 1, it is possible to flash GB, but it is a modified version. Just to be clear.

It seems that he previous owner put ubuntu on the phone because when i use root file explorer i see folders like /osh so i was wondering could that be conflicting also it says 2.6 gb available out of 7 gb so maybe something else is installed that is protecting from fxzing

Most likely seeing directories from webtop, and ICS does away with webtop, so it shouldn't affect FXZing. What state is the phone in currently? Can it boot? (I assume yes because you mentioned a root file explorer). Did you try to update through the stock recovery? If it can boot, I would try and get it back to as stock as possible, factory reset and all that, wipe cache, dalvik. Double check your software version, model, kernel. firmware, all that and verify that you have a 2.3.6 AT&T device.

Yes the phone boots but needs to be re activated every boot and after 2-3 it reboots by itself. Also, the factory reset doesnt seem to work because it just restarts my phone when done through android and when doing the hard reset way through stock recovery it doesnt fix the problem

Install a custom recovery if you don't have one, I'll attach Atrix2Bootstrap just in case. Reboot into custom recovery, and try to factory reset from there. Even if that doesn't work, try to wipe the cache, the dalvik, and your battery stats, then fix permissions. Post back with what worked or didn't work, and make sure the battery is charged up.

Since you can at least boot in android, you should verify some info.
Go to Settings > About Phone and note
System version -
Model number -
Firmware-
etc -
Post back with all of your info, be specific.
Download superuser from the market and install it.
Open your command prompt and type
Code:
adb shell
su
See if you get a permission denied, or if you get root #
Post all of the requested info.

You should try to downgrade to 2.3.5 and start from the beginning. Since your system is borked and you can't update, hopefully downgrading will at least get you to something stable that you can work with. The noob guide will tell you how to downgrade from 2.3.6 to 2.3.5, just pay attention because you'll most likely have to replace some FXZ files since the 2.3.6 you're on is most likely from an OTA.
About 1/3rd of the way down the page you'll see "How to flash the FXZ once applying the OTA update and get back to 2.3.5", follow those instructions.
