Transformer won't turn on /:

So I tried everything in all the other threads and it's still a no go for me. This is extremely disappointing, I was really loving this thing.
I'm scared to even attempt going through Asus's terrible customer service, especially with my TF being rooted and all...
any advice on what I may be able to do?
what happens when you plug it in? Does charger get hot? Try leaving plugged into powered usb overnight.
I had an issue where I left my transformer a week ago plugged into the electricity, and when I came back home - it was out of battery and refused to turn on. I tried plugging into the computer directly but that didn't help either.
Today I went to best buy and plugged it into an adapter on display, and it started working..
When I came back home, I tried my cable again and it suddenly worked!
The moral of the story is it seems the power adaptors are quite flaky. Try to disconnect and connect again..
Also see this thread with some tips on fixing the power adaptor:
http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...er-no-longer-charges-wall-wart-adapter-4.html
I highly doubt the charger is the problem in my particular case because the dock seems to charge fine. Also, my TF died on my when it still had around 80% battery life.
Another thing is that my alarm clock that I have set up on my TF still goes off every morning and the only way for me to turn it off is by repeatedly pressing the power button (this is extremely annoying).
I'm assuming that the screen may have just completely died or something of that sort.
Do you guys have any other advice, or should I just go ahead and attempt to rma it?
thanks it advance
I had this same thing happen to my TF a few weeks ago. The solution for me was to use the tool in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185104
I used v6.3 for my US 8.6.5.9 rom version. This basic steps I took were to install the APX driver (steps in the thread above), then run the batch file and do 4, 5, & 6. I didn't see anything on my TF screen until the above was completed and then turning it on.
Hope this helps you.

Have you tried buying it a few drinks and whispering complements about how beautiful and smart it is into it's microphone?

Was your transformer already rooted? It seems as if this tool is for rooting transformers, and mine is already rooted with a custom rom loaded onto it.
Can you please walk me through exactly what you did to get this process to work?
I'm pretty desperate as of right now!
Edit: So apparently my TF is still capable of connecting to my PC and I can view all of the folders on the internal memory as well as put it in APX mode, does this mean there is still hope for me?
Please guys, if anybody has some insight on how I could possibly fix this, it would mean more to me than you can imagine.

I am very interrested in this thread as I have the very same problem.
Asus proposed to RMA it but I fear that they might find some trace of the previous root as I unrooted "blindly"

yeah, that is what i'm worried about as well.
What number did you contact for the RMA?
Well apparently my only option is to RMA the device.
I went ahead and un-rooted it with the BRK toolkit, however after un-rooting it said that I have to load a stock rom and recovery image onto it. How do I go about doing this without turning it on and flashing the zip in recovery?
Do you all think ASUS will even notice it is rooted and if so what steps should I take to ensure that there is no proof of root?
Please help me a bit on this one guys.
I had the same issue with mine last week. Appeare dead but would connect to PC APX mode and could view SD card contents.
When looking at the screen with a flashlight, the text was visible. The unit was actually working but the backlight had died.
Had to get it replaced with new one from place I bought it from on their product replacement scheme. great except its a new one that can't be rooted yet.
Sitting patiently for that to be released so I can go back to playing....

Yes, my TF was rooted and running a custom ROM. When running the batch file that is in the package in the other thread I referenced, I did steps 4, 5, and 6. Then rebooted and it was fine. If you can get the APX driver installed and your computer will recognize it, then try those steps using the tool. Once I rebooted, it just loaded my same ROM as if nothing had happened.
Of course a hardware failure would cause the same thing (backlight or LCD not working, etc...) but in my case it was a software or booting issue and the above fixed it. If you try what I did and still nothing then RMA is probably your only option.
i had this problem too, in my case it was a defective power button. had to push it real hard to get the pad turned on ... rma fixed it ....
i have the same problem also and it turned out to be the power button my solution was just to keep pressing it haha and then it worked strangely enough. ive read somewhere that it it gets misalligned somehow. i guess i have 2 options either send it back or fix it myself at the moment im just living with it.
it works somedays then otherdays it takes a few pushes lol
My case seems to be none of the above.
I tried checking if it was an issue with the back light and put a flashlight up to it in a pitch black dark room but I can't see anything on the screen whats so ever, regardless of the angle I put it in.
I also don't think it is the power button because like I said, i'm able to put he tablet in APX mode and take it out of APX mode as well at will by pressing the power and volume up button.
Thirdly, I tried the root kit several times (version 7) and while it's doing it's job of rooting and un-rooting my TF, there still is no change in the functionality of the screen.
so i'm pretty much sol. I already placed in an RMA to asus, now I just have to ship it off (asus has by far the worst customer service that I have ever seen).
My final question would be is there anyway to load a stock rom and recovery image without being able to turn the tablet on? I'm able to unroot it with the rootkit, but it says that I still need to load a stock rom and whatnot.
If somebody can point me towards directions as to how I go about doing this, that would be great.
Thanks for all the help guys.

[Q] Hard brick from OTG cable

I just hard bricked my second GS3. I bricked the first one a couple of months ago (the day I got it) when used a cheap OTG cable to attach a flash drive to the phone. The phone just shut down. No charge light ever, no response to usb, just nothing.
When I got my second phone, I took a deep breath and tried the OTG cable again and it worked fine. I thought I just got a bad phone.
But today, on a whim, I wanted to see if my phone would run an external USB cd drive. BAM, the phone shuts down and is hard bricked again!!
So, I guess this is a cautionary tale, as well a plea to the community for any recommendations. Someone had a similar problem months ago, but I didn't see a resolution. I will probably end up sending it for JTAG repair, but I don't know if it will do any good since this wasn't caused by borking a ROM install. Anybody have any experience with this?
One thing is for sure. That OTG cable is going in the trash.
I have never heard of this. Very interesting. Sorry to hear this for you. I have been using my cable for awhile now and only ever had one problem with it. I was viewing pictures and looked away from the phone for a few moments. Phone went into sleep mode like normal. Dull screen then screen off. Prob was it wouldnt wake up. Nothin i did woke it up so i had to do a battery pull. Phone was fine after that and havent had the problem since. Gonna keep fingers crossed after reading the OP.
Set from my Verizon Stock Rooted (Modded) Galaxy S3 using xda-developers app
Yeah, it is a real pain. I found some other people who had the same issue.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/32816-sgs-3-and-otg-usb-adapter-might-equal-brick/
I just can't imagine what must be happening. I wish one of those uber-smart hackers who were working on the bootloader unlock would see this and give me some idea if it is even fixable. It is almost like it blew a fuse.
Anyway, I have an email out to mobiletechvideos to see if they think it can be jtag-ed. I have a feeling that a $2 cable is going to end up costing me $600.
----- Update -----
I made and tried a usb jig, just for kicks. No luck. Still waiting to see if mobiletechvideos gets back to me.
Another quick follow-up... I got a response from mobiletechvideos.
Unfortunately that has been damaging many people’s phones. It damages the PMIC and the device is not repairable by any of our services or any other shop that I know of.

If you are too lazy to google PMIC, it is the power management chip. Sounds like there is a problem with the cable where the power is being directed somewhere it shouldn't be.
This weekend, I will carefully cut open the cable and see if I can see the problem.

Don't like resurrecting threads, but was curious for an update. This just happened to my Verizon GS3 as well. Completely unresponsive. I'm still under warranty so am about to go to the store to have it sent back, but came across this thread while trying to hunt down solutions.
Fwiw, it was with this cable: www()amazon()com/gp/product/B00932N46S/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

Keyboard dock malfunction

Okay. I seen a thread about the keyboard dock not working, but I'm a bit lost. For starters, there's apparently a way to update the keyboard dock. LoL!! Also, the issue isn't quite the same as their's.
Here's the situation. The dock charges the tablet, the tablet recognizes the dock, and the mouse pad works. The keyboard buttons don't work. It doesn't type or anything. The tablet sees that the dock is there and tells you to type with it and stuff, but you can't type.
Imagine a laptop where only the touchpad works. It's weird. She said this happened 2 days ago. Today is Aug 11th, so it happened Aug. 09th. (Since some people talk DD/MM instead of MM/DD LoL!!)
Any ideas on how to fix? I'm trying to check for an update, but it's telling me: "Internet connection error or the server is busy. Please wait a moment and try again."
The tablet is completely stock.
I see the dock is a version number:
EP101-0213
My only other option is to take it with me and try a more stable internet connection. Or maybe rooting and see what I can do from there.
The first thing I would try would be a factory reset to partially rule out stock ROM problems
Before that, I would flash TWRP Recovery and make a Nandroid backup
If things still aren't working after the reset, I'd flash a custom ROM to 100% rule out stock ROM problems
Still not working after that, I'd open the dock and check that the keyboard cable has not come loose
Or, if you're brave enough, reverse that and open the dock first
Easyflasher has everything you need for getting root and flashing TWRP recovery

Um...? You say I can open the dock and check to see if the keyboard cable has not come loose, or if I'm brave enough open the dock first. Wait!! I get what you're saying now. LoL!!
It is weird. Others are saying the keyboard AND mousepad doesn't work but all other functions do, like charging and the ports. This seems to be a weird one since the only thing that doesn't work is the keyboard. My mousepad still works. Hmm...
I'm hoping it's something that simple. I was thinking about buy the table from her. If I do that then I'd do some hardware stuff like that. Hmm... I guess I better get downloading then. I wished I kept my Transformer stuff. I didn't think I'd still need it. LoL!! Thanks for the link.

There are 3 independent circuits in the Dock:
Charging Circuit
USB circuit (includes the touchpad)
Keyboard Circuit.
Any one of these three can stop working and the other 2 will work fine. I would check the ribbon cables to make sure they are all seated properly in the dock. Since the Touchpad is part of the USB ports and is not integrated with the keyboard circuit, it is very possible that the keyboard ribbon came loose. Or worse, the daughterboard that controls the keyboard decided to head south....

Thanks. As of now, it's no point in worrying about it. I've left her house and probably won't be there in a while. I also don't want to open her tablet since it's not mines. *sigh*
But I may have too since she wants to sell it. Thanks for the info. I guess I can start looking for some tools to open it. I didn't see any types of screws, so I'm guessing you pry it open.
I won't start another question in this thread. I'll search for that elsewhere. Thanks anyways. That'll make it easier to try and fix if I can get it open. LoL!!

You need a small (0 or 00) Philips screwdriver. There are screws under the back 2 rubber feet. Then carefully pry it open. I start by the USB port in the back and work around. Be sure you remove any USB or SD cards or you may be sorry...
Ah!! Thanks. I was wondering if there would be screws under those little rubber grooves. Next time I visit her, I'll be prepared. Thanks for that. I'll probably bump this post (3 months down the road LoL!!) if I fix it. So others can see that it is fixable. I'll take pictures of the inside too.

Charger port issue

I saw a thread on this but can't find it for love or money.
I have an issue that came out of nowhere. Charged the phone over night, everything was fine. The next day, the USB C (the one that came with the phone) wouldn't go in properly and drops out if you as much as breath on it.
It feels like there is an obstruction but I can't see one. I've tried 3 different cables in it with the same result so it's definitely at the phone end.
As I've seen, but can't now find another thread on it, I'm wondering if there is a general issue. Has anyone else experienced this?
i belive it is ... as long as im having it too... even i made a topic about it but nothing helped
so i just gave up and im waiting for the time that it gets fully broken then i give it to an hardware store

Device turns off while connected to a power source (PLEASE HELP)

Hello!
Out of the blue a couple months back my 7 pro turned off while charging. I have read multiple posts of other people with a similar issue but mine seems to be different.
I also experienced my battery wasnt doing too good after a few years so I decided to change my battery and my usb c port in case that was causing the issue but even with the new port it keeps happening.
What could it be? is there any way to fix it? I just did a factory reset using the system assistant but if there is any other way that cleaner deeper I would. I just dont think my device will be recognized by adb so if anything it would be via wifi.
Please I would love any insight to keep my phone alive a bit longer, other than that its in a pretty good shape with a new working battery!
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
