Problems with mounting sdcard on ubuntu - Thunderbolt General

Ok I need help I can't get my phone to charge or mount my SD card on my computer.. I have ubuntu studio, I never had any problems till a few weeks ago. I now thought it was the ics ROM I was running so I went back to gb and a sence ROM. Still no connection. Yes usb debugging is on. And toggled it many times, and fast boot on power setting toggled it too many times. I am now pulling my SD card out then putting in my card reader to work at this time.. Any help would be a great help. Thanks

Is it only when you use your computer? It could be the data cable is messed up or the USB port on your PC is messed up.

Tried different cables and usb and computers also. No charge or SD mount. But can charge off wall plug

Hmmm.... so you cant get it to mount to any computer. I hate to say it but it sounds like a hardware issue. Almost like one of the pins is broken that reads the connection for data use.

[Q] HTC Sync drivers won't work

I'm trying to root my girlfriend's Evo Shift 4G. I downloaded the latest version of HTC Sync to my computer but when I connect the phone under sync mode it never detects the phone. Windows 7 starts to install the drivers but fails to install them. I reinstalled windows 7 32 bit no antivirus software and fresh sync install and it still won't work. I went into device manager and it showed Android Phone with a yellow explanation point. I removed the usb cable, uninstalled the android phone device, rebooted, plugged the usb cord into a different usb port and it still won't work. At this point I have no idea what to do in order to get the computer to see the phone so I can use ADB to get the phone rooted. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

i banged my head over this for hours yesterday only to find that the problem was i was using a knock-off ebay usb cable. once i tried the "official" usb cable that came with the phone (has a HTC tag on it) it worked perfectly!!
Definately check the Micro USB Cable. I've had knock off cables be the cause of several issues. I always make sure to use the HTC factory cable. Also make sure and check your ports on the phone, and PC. Make sure they're clean. Dust and dirt collect in them as time goes on.
Okay thanks I'll try the HTC cable. I was using the cable from my Nexus S 4G maybe the phone's port was dirty. I'll check things out. Thanks for the ideas!

Here to help
Okay I tried cleaning the contacts on 3 different USB cables, cleaned the usb port of the Shift, and still no luck. If it's connected in storage mode or charge only the computer shows an HTC Android Phone. However, once USB debugging is turned on it doesn't know the phone is there. Any other ideas? Is there a different driver that debugging mode uses that maybe I don't have?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Okay now I tried hooking up my Nexus S 4G to the computer and once USB debugging is turned on the computer couldn't locate a driver. It's something about debugging that's messing up my computer.

Make sure USB Debugging is turned on. Menu-Settings-Applications-Develpment. Make sure USB Debug is checked.

He said the problem is the phone isn't recognized once debugging is checked.
This is strange though.. I have rooted my Shift, a Nexus S and installed CM on my Touchpad and never had any issues with the drivers. Maybe try removing and reinstalling the drivers? Obviously something is not agreeing with your PC.
When USB debugging is turned on, windows doesn't find the phones. :-(

Sounds like you need to update the HTC drivers. I used the ones off the Revolutionary site for the EVO4G.
Any way you could link me to where you got the drivers?

Ive tried reinstalling the drivers and nothing..lately I get message "error I/O"
What ROM are you using and what OS on your computer

Using weapon 3.0 and windows xp on computer..
If you have USB debugging on turn it of and vice versa. If that doesn't work try different computer/USB Ports. If that doesn't work maybe a different cord

Does it do the same thing on another PC?
Just my 2ยข
Is the USB connection on your phone bad? Does it lose the 'USB connected' icon if you jiggle the cord? Other than that, cable, USB port on PC, etc. The USB port on my Infuse is loose and only certain cables are stable enough for file transfers.

Phone won't connect to Car Radio

I have a Pionee DEH P6200BT for my car.
I used to have an I4 and it worked fine, but everytime I try to connect the SR, it won't read the music.
Anyone have this kind of issue with other radios and if so any workaround(aside from using the mini jack)
First off search there are a few topics on Bluetooth issues second this should be in the q&a section

Not a bluetooth issue, it is not recognizing it via a USB connection.
Bluetooth voice(calls) works perfectly fine.

Are you mounting your phone?
Bring down the notification menu after you connect your phone to your radio. Then select usb connection or something similar. I think there is one more screen after that but it should work.
I used my inspire and skyrocket with a Kenwood DNX8120 and a Sony XNV-770bt

This was it, but it is trickier for me.
I have to mount it within 5 seconds of connecting it to the radio or it won't work.
I got it to work last night and at first I was like WTF? why am I hearing nav info through the speakers. Apparently for some reason it puts the nav sounds in a seperate folder and lets me access it. Weird.
Oh well got it working mostly(doesn't display any of the Artist/Album info) but at least I can listen now.
I have the same headunit. And I'm able to mount it. This is what I do: turn USB debugging on, plug your phone in and when it says its reading, mount your SD card. If you get an error on the headunit, just switch back to USB and try again. Sometimes it takes a few tries. Btw, I'm running stock rooted 2.3.5 on my phone

Problem with usb memory

I install the usb connector and insert a usb memory and copy some files, everything works fine. Until the next time I want to do it. Then the connector is recognized but the usb memory is not. Inserting it revokes no response from the system. I'm forced to reboot in order to see the memory stick again. I always tap the memory stick reminder in the notification bar before removing it. Does anyone else encounter the same problem?

I don't generally have an issue but I'm not rooted.
Is it formatted as fat32 or exfat?
There was an app in a post just like this one that someone recommended to help with this issue.
Issue noted in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2033084&highlight=usb+memory
.
I'm not rooted, stock all the way. I'll have to check the USB stuck since I'm not sure what the formatting is, but I believe I formatted it on my Win 7 laptop and that may default to exfat.

Nope, a lot actually default to NTFS...
Did you just rip it out of the note or stop the usb drive from inside settings>storage usb drive>unmount? This may make a difference...
I unmounted it, but from the notification bar, the system responded by saying that the stick was safely removed. Could it be the OTG adapter? I use the one I got with my GT-P3113 but they are both Samsung tablets and it is recognized when inserted.
Should mention that I use the usbstock in my Transformer without any problems so I doubt that it is the formatting.

It is a 64 GB USB memory stick. Buffalo from Japn, but made in China.
Works like a charm on my ASUS Transformer.

OTG host cable support for input devices on Jelly Bean is spotty. As was noted in the Google Code forums in January, Google has now modified it's Nexus specs page to drop references to OTG, BT support now is the only method mentioned for attaching devices. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=41206
