My AT&T One X is sim-unlocked(unlocked by code from cellphoneunlock.net).I'm using it in India. It's on 4.0.3.
As I'm not getting AT&T OTA here, I am thinking to update to 4.0.4 manually from the update given in at&t htc software support website.
Can you guys please confirm that it won't lock/softbrick the phone as it is only sim-unlocked and not bootloader unlocked???
Drugs er bad mmmmmmk..? You should be fine taking an ota.. I've taken several.updates on previous phones that were sim.unlocked.. you're fine homie....

I don't hang out on IRC much anymore, sorry. Walshed phones, meaning you used Chris Walsh's tool to force upgrade to NoDo.
According to the comments at wmpoweruser, at least one Walshed phone got the update.

ahhh. that's right. wonder what happened to those. from what i understand, only those ones actually got the htc updates and the alternate way is to flash 1.30roms (again, for mozarts)
Mozart got it
My Mozart running on AT&T in the USA got the update just now.
I forced the NODO update with the phone trick and WIFI on and off.
My T-Mo DE Mozart got an update notification which promises everything - from Copy/Paste (which I already have) to HTC Software Update (which I don't have), and the certificates, all with build 7392.
I have a walshed phone and have received the HTC update and the security update.

I don't know what software version you have, doesn't match any of these. I would take it to a TMO store and say WTF?

The replacement phones, and very few initially shipped phones come with 0.15 baseband.
Those devices won't update to the new OTA. You have to first find the TMOUSS RUU for 0.16 in the development section and run it. Then when your baseband is updated to 0.16 you will be able to update to the new OTA.
edit - at least this is what happened with me. maybe it works on someone else's.

What software number does your phone say it is on? If it has the R2 in it I don't think you'll be able to get the update. It's different than stock. Stock doesn't have the R2 in it.

Hey Guys
Here is my question, currently I have a completely stock unrooted One S and I just got the notification for a 'system update' from HTC. What I want to know is, if I accept the system update for HTC's official jellybean, will I be able to root afterword?
Add'l info:
Hopefully the answer is a simple 'yes', but I want to ask because I remember when I had the HTC Evo, HTC changed the bootloader when they sent out gingerbread OTA update, and anyone who was unrooted and accepted the update then couldnt root until someone found a new way around the changes, which took a while. And the reason I want to root after the update is because I dont plan on playing with ROMs this time around, I just want to root so I can use some apps that require root access and still be on a stable jellybean. Thanks!

Can you post the exact steps you made for going completely stock because i have tried several times and still don't get OTA update notification. (HTC support center stated the update for my s3 was released). Thanks.
AW: OTA Jellybean Update and Rooting
Update notification depends on cid and carrier. The HTC support are a bunch of uninformed people who always answers with standard answers..
Maybe try to change your CID to HTC__001, its the unbranded European one, this CID mostly get the OTA first.
Dont forget to be on stock recovery when flashing OTA

I think i can't change CID on S3. I guess i'll wait a little more.

Do you have any friends who are on VZW and have either a Moto X or iPhone 5/5S? The reason I ask, is because those 2 phones take a nano SIM card like the M8 does. When a software update comes out, try using their SIM card in your phone to take the update. That's the easiest way I can think of.

I'm pretty sure you'll have to s-off and then root your phone to push the firmware update.
the Red Viper ROM
So given that my phone is in the same situation as the original poster, all I have to do is to s-off and root my phone to push the update?
How would the update be done if it's rooted? I just want to update the firmware, I have no intention of adding a custom rom or anything, just whatever sense version is the latest on verizon now

Yes, you should be able to install just the firmware/radios. There is a thread in the android development section specifically for the installation of the firmware/radios. You will definitely need s-off to install them. There is also a thread on that - it's actually really easy. I had my brand new m8 s-off'd and rooted in about 20 minutes.
