I've had al similar problem with my htc sensation. Turned out not all components work together nicely. I replaced it with a LCD / digitizer bundle and then it worked fine. A repair guy I talked to confirmed the issue and told me he only replaced them in pairs because of this issue. It still doesn't make a while lot of sense to me but searching round the internet seems to confirm this, at least for sensation.

For Sensation maybe, but here it's a sandwich type screen (glass+digitizer+display), no option for separate replace.
Best thing we can suggest is to re-connect all wires.
P.S. Where did you get the new screen? Could be a non-genuine screen...

If it is defect, you can replace your touchscreen for low costs. I paid 20 euro's for my new touchscreen. You also need an T6 torx to open your mobile.

Get a new digitizer on eBay, fairly cheap and easy to replace. Can get one to match your housing color. Less than 20 Euro for sure.
thanks for reply back soon..
there is no way to recover my touch screen??
any technical way to recover my touch screen, techies help me out...
I don't seem how you could 'repair' it. I think it is broken or not. Or the connecter is not in the right position. If so you must open up your mobile either way. I think it's best to just replace the touchscreen it also removes the scratches if you have those. And it's very cheap.
thanks cywood.. its not broken, just it stops working..
negaboys , the same thing just happened to me too. I run the tweaking applications here - doing the HD Tweak and Kaz TD2 instructions only. Then rebooted my AT&T Tilt. After the Titl started, the touch screen no longer worked. And when I went into the utilities to undo the changes I had made, but the applications require a touch for you to use them.
I am really stuck.
digitizer
i thinks it is less effort and much easier to replace the touch screen. its called digitizer. if u r in india ull get it for rs300/-. changing it is extremely easy, just google and search for videos on htc screen replacement. it took me just 45 minutes to open my htc and change the screen.

in your case, it will probably be fixed with a hard-reset.

Hi Praveen,
from where u got the digitizer...? was it original?
mine also stopped working two days back. I am in chennai and just heard that HTC has opened a new service centre here so maybe i can try out my luck there.

The hard reset fixed my problem. I also had corrupt files on my microSD card, so I formatted it as well.
Its amazing how many problems that look like hardware issues are actually software/file system issues.
For those who jumped right to "replace the screen" as a solution, I believe you need to rethink your troubleshooting strategy, as you'll convince people to spend time and money performing a fix action that doesn't work.

That is a great program! I've heard of it before, but never thought I would need it. It looks useful for getting screen shots from your mobile device as well.
Thanks!
repeated screen alignment problm
hi guys,
a month back my elfin screen stopped responding, after searching threads,i foundout that the digitizer was dead so i replaced it .touch response came back, but now every few mins i have to align the screen to have proper response.i m using onyx6.5 /mikys/ahen roms of latest build.and lower part of screen was not responding for touch some times,so to align screen was not possible as start button was in lower part in newer builds,so im starting roms of older builds in them start button is at top, where i came somehow reach screen alignment page.i m not able to find what is wrong wth my device??whether the digitizer was not working properly???

Solution
Okay, I've just had this problem with an HTC Touch, and I think this works with any HTC that has a "digitizer" rather than an all-in-one touchscreen (I think newer phones have digitisers).
I'm not sure if this will always work, but I've just done it - sometimes the inactive touch screen is "broken" because the layers are stuck together (so the phone can't tell where the touch is, hence unresponsive). With mine, I looked at the screen side on and could see a kind of "oily" patch in the light.
The solution is to get masking/gaffa tape - the very sticky brown one. Stick it down on the screen/digitizer and then keep pulling it off - this pulls the layers from each other. I kept repeating this lots before it worked - and in the end I pulled the top layer completely off (I think you should pull from the top of the phone, as the layers need to be attached at the bottom of the screen/digitizer). Once it pulled away, I gently lay it back down (after panicking!!) and hey presto it started working again.
Good luck!

Screen is blank but touch screen works ***HELP***

I recently got a touch pro of a friend with a damaged screen that didn't turn on but the touch screen was responsive. Apparently he sat on it and the screen broke.
I then acquired it and replaced the LCD screen and i turned it on but all it shows is a blank black screen with the backlight on. I was tapping while it booted up and it was making that beep noise so i know the touch screen works. What do i do now.

if the lcd is damaged and you only replaced the digitizer then that wont solve the problem, the digitizer just sits ontop of the lcd and recognizes your touches, hence why it mite know that your touching the screen but the screen is still blank

I replaced the LCD along with the digitalizer. Tats what i meant.
Sounds like either the new screen is inop on fit (fraid you need another to test, then send the first back as faulty), or the fault is not the LCD itself.
Possibily its the wrong screen, or its not installed correctly, or you damaged either the screen or the controller when installing.
I'm afraid you dont have many options - take it apart & rebuild to ensure correct parts & fitment, spend £££ on alternative parts to see whats broken (or serious £££ on test equipment!), send it off for repair or give up!
I'd go for option 1 first
If your friend sat on it hard enough to break the screen, i'd be looking for any damage / cracking to the boards / ribon cable mounts and be looking very carefully at the mountings of any IC chips. Incedently, when (s)he sat on it, did the screen work at all? and was it 100% working before they did?
Okay thanks for the replies. I just bought a flex cable where the slider thing is because the old one looked a bit old and flexed out and on inspection of the old screen i found a tiny rip on the screen's flex cable too. I wait for my cable and see if it works and if it doesn't then i'll sent the screen back as faulty and get a new one and if that doesn't work then I'll give up and sell it again
hi
sorry to wake up an old thread.
so what's your solution/conclusion?
is it the flex, or the LCD that broke?
i have the same problem right now.

Sensation screen unresponsive for short time after turning on

I have just replaced my digitizer (was dust under the screen and also a scratch on the digitizer itself, along with the fact I damaged it removing the sticky tape) and the whole screen is almost completely unresponsive. Brand new, but wont work fully until I touch the screen for a bit or give it time to sit after activating the lockscreen.
Once it is through it's "warmup" the screen works flawlessly. It just acts like a slug before that... Also rendering the quick launch lock screen completely worthless. Anyone have any ideas what could be the culprit?

I too replaced a broken screen on my sensation, and i am experiencing the exact same problem as you. Only for me it's only the lower left part of the screen that 'takes time to warm up'.
Did you find any solution?
Not yet. I have another digitizer on order, and fingers are crossed. If not, ill be biting the bullet and waiting for the nexus prime. I have this feeling that it is something other than the digitizer which is extremely sensitive. If people are claiming responsiveness issues after a week or two of use, and while on their sixth or seventh sensation... It sounds like something is slowly deteriorating or building up.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
I don't think it's the digitizer either, probably something else ont he phone. However i don't think it is the same problem as everybody else is having, since they experience their screen being unresponsive in general rather than just after turning on.
I am though going to try some of the fixes suggested, i.e. improve the grounding by placing some aluminum foil under the cover and see if it helps.
What does "turning on" mean? Cold boot up? If so, then the CPU on the phone will be busy doing stuff. If you mean waking up from sleep, then that's another problem.
for me it's both cases, both when booting the phone and just when turning the screen back on. What's strange is that it is only the lower part of the screen that's frozen :-S after 10-20 seconds it suddenly springs back to life just as nothing had happened and works flawlessly until i turn the screen of. Then i see the exact same problem again.
I also noticed now that the screen also freezes after calling somebody and when you hang up :-0 I really don't know what is wrong with the phone!
If the phone is unsecured (never sleeps) it will work flawlessly. As soon as I click the top button to secure the screen, or take a phone call, once I try to unlock/ use the screen again... The problem comes back. The left side of the screen is the most responsive, usually moving my finger around for about five or ten seconds will restore full sensitvity. I received a new digitizer in the mail, just waiting on tape. Interesting note; they are different digitizers. The original was HTC/ tmobile brand while the replacement is simply HTC. The ribbon cable also reads different. My original: pyd v1.0, sw-10 94v-0, e3082521117. The new one reads: pyd v1.0, e21954-1, ruICACichia, 94v-0 1112. The current digitizer replacement is also a standard HTC label... I wonder if it is because it isn't a specific model replacement.

Alright so i tried doing all the fixes related to the grounding issue, and i didn't affect anything at all.
I'm going back to the repair shop today (have a three months warranty) to tell them to have a look at it again and see if they can fix the issue. Maybe they have a spare digitizer they could try instead of my current one. I will let you know if anything helps!
Sounds good. I am betting its either an incorrect digitizer for the model of phone (us/eu/whatever) improper mounting or damage, or just planetary alignment or something equally stupid. I'm really hoping someone figures out this problem... It is frustrating to spend more time figuring out how to fix a phone than you actually do using it.

True, had i known from the start i would probably just have bought a new phone, rather than spend on the money on getting the screen replaced :-S
Well, I replaced the digitizer for a second time. Seems to be the same thing so far. Different initial responsiveness spot (looks like the right side might be more sensitive now) but I didn't have high hopes. I wonder what it could be...

So i went back to the repair shop and got it fixed. I guess they weren't in the mood for scientific inquiry, because they simply disassembled the phone and installed a new digitizer. After that everything is working fine, altough i will never know if it was the digitizer itself or some faulty wiring somewhere :-S
Worked for me
I have had exactly the same problem you all have experienced. The first digitizer I ordered from a company on e-bay gave me huge problems at the unlock screen. Bought a new one from skalshop and it works perfectly. I even tried it without tape to make sure it worked before I glued the thing together and it worked perfect.

HTC Sensation - Digitizer Replacement - Touch screen unresponsive - Unable to S-OFF -

Hi Folks,
Here is my story.
I have replaced my broken digitizer on HTC Sensation. At that point i was not aware of multiple versions of digitizer's in e-bay & Amazon and i need to select the right one stuff...From this thread
I realized after replacing & touchscreen was unresponsive.
With inputs from From this thread, i tried to RUU, then realized that i have to S-OFF. But in the process of trying to do S-OFF,[touch screen not responding] while connecting to a PC, phone is not detected [May b that i have to select USB debugging option in phone]
So, am struck now & can anyone help me what is the way out now?
Thanks

You might have to reinstall the broken digitizer and root/s-off the phone then replace it... You need the touch screen to do some of the s-off steps...

Thanks
Hi there they're is a great instructional video on you tube on how to replace the digitizer on our device, if I remember correctly there is also a video on you tube on how to open and take apart our devices. I have watched the digitizer replacement video and its extremely helpful, advising on exactly how to do the procedure . Go over to you tube and take. Look at the video . I think it will be extremely helpful! Best wishes and hope I've helped!

Have a question related to this (don't wanna start a new thread).
If I want to replace a cracked screen do I need to buy the digitizer, lcd, or both? My screen is cracked but works perfectly fine as usual.
Unresponsive HTC Sensation XE Beats Touchscreen
I'm having same problem, replaced old touchscreen :
PYD V1.1
SW-10 94V-0
E308252 1145
With (? = missing letter or number):
PYD V1.0
B?-10 94V-0
E?082521123
The touchscreen is totaly unresponsive . On top of this I didn't care about the old digitizer
and cut the flex cable, now I'm stuck with an Sensation XE Beats with an uresponsive screen,
if there is a fix arround this I will highly apreciate. :fingers-crossed:
I tried to find exact same touchscreen model than the old one, but can't seem to be found.
Is there someone with the same old digitizer who replaced with other model number that perfectlly work or partially?
There is this fix in an other tread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360638
But impossible to do as touchscreen doesn't respond.
Also could it be possible that the new touchscreen is defekt?
I read in the other post that new touchscreen worked at least partially, this one not at all.
Thank in advance for any answer.

Switched Motherboards.

Ok heres the situation.
I had broken the sim card holder on my phone and it wasn't able to get repaired so I figured I'd buy another phone on ebay that had a busted screen and I would just switch the mother boards around.
I ended up getting the phone and heres the problem.
My motherboard, the one with the broken sim tray works fine with the broken screen but when I try the new motherboard with my good screen phone it doesn't work.
What it does is it takes about 15 minutes to boot from the samsung screen and then it just freezes at the unlock screen where <I am not able to slide. The touch screen doesn'tm work.
Any ideas people? Ican touch the home key etc and they light up but thats about it.

Sounds like the digitizer isn't recognizing the touch. Double check the 4 connections. There may also be a problem with the circuit board you purchased - perhaps there was more at fault than just the busted screen (waterdamage?).

Are the screen revisions the same? There's a rev 6.0, 6.1 and 6.2 for the Infuse. A mismatch might be the issue.
