to minimal the chance you should manually mount /system
-Will test on new update script. The old script marks as error in cwm error log...

after instalations-no change! kernel 3.0.8 acceleration-no
@wergon This is ROM independent stuff. @c4cyro I'll do it when I have time (quite soon) @zeetwo-raj Thanks!
This is for JLO
This updater-script is from fxp240 for JLO, thanks ^^
@c4cyro Looks like this installer is universal as the location of kernel is the same: mmcblk0p3 (the same as this and FXP tipo one!) WARNING: Make sure you change kernel before trying it out (as the kernel is Tipo - Vengeance) or else you'll probably end up flashing a whole stock firmware with complete loss of data a mesona kernel with fastboot .
Now I just need a Xperia E (Single and Dual also) FXP Updater-Script to make sure this is universal for devices in this section though.
you mean if i want to flash kernel "x.img" then i have to first remove the boot.img from this zip, place the x.img into this, and then flash the zip in cwm. right?
But this is useless... everyone can just flash kernel using flashtool or console
^ i think its handy when you dont have pc , fastboot drivers etc installd.
To use this tool you need unlocked BL, to unlock BL you need fastboot drivers so you are wrong.
An another try of giving sth people that they don't realy need.

Try and learn to give respect to developers, this is not a useless tool.
What if you have an unlock bootloader and now have 2 or 3 kernels to test out without a PC? It can be achieved with this.
What if you are a kernel developer and want to test out many builds of your kernel?
Once unlocked remains unlocked you don't have to reunlock bootloader again and again.
Just curious to know is it possible to replace boot.img in mobile? Any app to do that?
Sent from my Xperia Tipo
If you make a file or edit a updater script add this it will flash boot.img
package_extract_file("boot.img", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p3");

[GUIDE][SCRIPT] Install/Restore 4.1/4.2 ROMs without Odin

If you want to install or restore a CM10.1-based or stock-based ROM while you are on CM10.2/11 based ROM without using Odin you are into right place.
Automatic process with Recovery-flashable zip:
Download Format-Preload-RecoveryModeV2.zip and put it into sdcard
Reboot device in recovery and install the zip, no need to reboot after flashing
Now you can install or restore any CM10.1-based ROM!!
Semi-automatic process with Linux/Windows script - needs ADB
To use only if Automatic process doesn't work for you
Reboot device in recovery and connect to USB
Download Format zip depending on your OS. Then:
On Windows: Extract zip, copy extracted file to the same directory where is ADB executable and double click .bat
On Linux: Extract zip where you want, for example your home directory, and run it in Terminal with . PreloadFormat.sh
Click to collapse
Manual process with ADB
To use only if either Automatic and Semi-automatic don't work for you
Boot device into recovery mode, connect it to USB
Open ADB and type in order:
Code:
[B]adb devices[/B] (to be sure that device is recognized, you see some numbers followed by "recovery" word)
[B]adb shell
su
parted /dev/block/mmcblk0
mkfs
(now wait 2 sec and confirm with Y)
9
ext2[/B]
Little explanation: Preload partition is used as swap partition from CM10.2 and up in our device, without formatting it (format /preload when is a swap partition doesn't work in CWM, at least for me. Parted can't format in ext4, so we need to format in ext2) you get bootloop when you install/restore a 10.1 ROM.
There is one more way too without using pc and adb..
Boot into recovery and format /system.(optional)
Now install any CM10.1 ROM on top of CM10.2.
Then go to advance option in CWM recovery and choose "reboot recovery".
Now when phone reboots into recovery, go to mount and storage and format /preload and /data.
Now reboot.
The rom will boot up normally.
I was on carbon ROM and successfully booted the MIUI using the following method..
Thanks to @Toni5830 for letting me know this method..

You can't flash a 4.3 or 4.2 ROM from the cm11 recovery as it gives an error in the flashing process..

I don't think that it works on cm11..
This method only works for installing cm10.1 from cm10.2.
You can't flash a 4.3 or 4.2 ROM from the cm11 recovery as it gives an error in the flashing process..

CM10.2 and CM11 uses preload partition as swap, so you can install CM11/10.2 based ROM over CM11/10.2 based ROM without using this. You can't downgrade to previous versions without this or flashing stock firmware.

I think I installed CM11 before, over CM10.2 - with system wipe. but now I am not 100% sure that I remember it right.

Sorry for noob question but as OP says; Make sure that /system partition is mounted under mounts and storage
What do I need to do in CWM
unmount /system ?

GApps & Root for AOSP KK ROMS Noob-Friendly (Guide)

To root AOSP Based Roms :& Flash GApps.
1. Get any Kernel with a recovery which is from JB 4.2(kernel for example ThunderZap by @varun.chitre15 )
2. Flash it via fastboot. To flash download Flashtool from here.
• Important Note : After flashing kernel don't reboot directly to system and disconnect the phone from PC, then boot and press the required keys to boot to recovery.
3. Boot into Recovery, by pressing vol +or- key when led glows while booting.
4. Download Flashable package of Super SU from here {Official Site)(Also Attached as a Zip flash it by using recovery via install zip option. and then Power Off.
5. Now fastboot again and flash the original supplied kernel and boot the device.
6. Enjoy now you have Super Su check with any root app to confirm root.
•>> Thank me if it helped you And this method is checked thrice by me.
TIP: You can also use this method to flash GApps

"Root of your sd card" ? There isn't any such folder when i connect it to the pc.
Try to pull the zip with adb to external sdcard(sdcard1).Then flash from external in recovery).
