Hi, My note 10.1 was defective, but I knew it after rooting it, I succesfully un-rooted it and flashed all back to stock but I dont know if my flash counter is 0, is there a way I can know this without rooting again? or do I have to root again, also rooting it with the CHAINFIRE root would change my recovery? or can I root, make a triangle away and then unroot and voila?
I hope someone can help me
Thank you!!
To check your flash counter, hold down power and volume down. After your device reboots, press volume up to confirm, then it should tell you some information including flash counter.
Reset the flash counter using TriangleAway.

DONE. And now I have to un root it again.... So the question is how do I unroot it without making my flash counter go up again?
Go to super su in your apps directory and unroot. Then flash your stock rom using ODIN. As long as its your stock rom count won't go up...

You mean I only have to delete the super su app?
NO! do not just uninstall the app, open supersu and then go into settings and under cleanup you can unroot it there. Do not just uninstall.

My flash counter is still at 0. im on stock 2.3.5, but i am rooted.
so what if i wanted to flash to stock.
how could i do this without tripping the counter?
if i follow this tutorial will it trip? or if i use a jig to get into download mode and flash stock will it trip. (not reset counter, just keep it from going to 1 while i flash stock)
also how could i restore the default recovery and get rid of cwm?
When you flash the recovery.tar using odin it will remove cwm. And I don't think it will make 1 but not 100% sure.

The process in summary:
1. Use asus unlock tool to unlock - just run the tool and follow the on screen direction, very simple.
2. Since you are rooted, download and install "goomanager" from the market to install custom recover TWRP-again open the app, tab on the 3boxex upper right hand corner and choose "Install OpenReoveryScript"- it will install TWRP automaticaly.
3. Boot into TWrP (hold down volume down and power button until see white text on the screen, let go both buttons, now hit the volume button twice to access recovery mode, choose 'install', browse to Cleanrom zip file then flash it.
That's it.

While you have root, do a full backup, once you flashed cleanrom, you have root back (cleanrom is prerooted), so you don't have to worry about keeping root.
I have Clockwork mod installed and I am running 4.1.2 JB and I am trying to find out if I can use this to downgrade to 4.1.1 JB. I have never used cwm and I want to put mr.robinsons root injected stock 4.1.1 on my phone. With my ATT s3 I just used odin right from the start to do this and then installed TWRP. On this verizon I used casual to root, unlock bootloader, and install CWM. but now I wish I would have just used odin and Mr. Robinsons method right off the start because I dont know how to get cwm to downgrade to that root injected stock image. Im a noob to the worst degree when it comes to cwm so Ill take the flaming but can someone explain this to me?

If you got the zip rom to be use with cwm then just boot to cwm, select wipe cache, then select advance, then select wipe dalvik cache, then go back to the main page, select install from zip, browse to the zip then flash.

It was a 7z file with a .tar inside it. Can you point me to where I can get the cwm version? Can I just use the file I downloaded and rename it update.zip? That might be a stupid question but I ask anyway. Is there a mr.robinson 4.1.1 root injected stock image that I can use in cwm. Heres the deal. On my ATT if you downgrade to 4.1.1 JB, then you can use that SIM unlock method in the service menu. I searched for hours to find out if you can downgrade verizon to 4.1.1 and do the same thing but I found nothing. on 4.1.2 the menu is there but not all of it and the ATT was the same at 4.1.2, but once I downgraded to 4.1.1 the rest of the menu options were there and I successfully SIM unlocked it. I have found nothing on this for verizon so I figured Ill just downgrade and try it myself. if it doesnt work Im not out anything Ill just use casual again and deal with it.

If you download this file http://androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390210501348163619 and flash with ODin, but it will not wipe your data, relock your bootloader or replace recovery, it only pre-rooted. Unzip and flash with Odin.

Can someone please help me in the process of unrooting and removing cmw recovery mod. I know from previous experience i can remove root, using supersu and click full unroot. Problem i am mainly having is what do I do to remove the CMW recovery mod. I have downloaded the factory image of the shield tablet, i just dont know how to go about it. Im very tech savy but im fairly new to android rooting.

Extract all files from Nvidia's "recovery" file. Then copy the stock recovery.img. Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Stock recovery.img attached. Fastboot flash.
How did you unroot?
I know that some Samsung devices, like the Note 8, require a full Odin of the stock ROM as unroot with SuperUser won't do anything.

Thanks for the confirmation.
FYI, when I had my Note 8.0, doing the full unroot via SuperSU did not remove all the necessary file. Update no longer received, so I had to Odin the stock ROM.

FWIW: I flashed the stock recovery, then used SuperSU "unroot", and was able to successfully install the 1.1 OTA. I can't confirm that SuperSu unroot removes every trace of root, but it's good enough to accept OTA updates.

Thanks that is really good to know!
I just did a reset on my phone, install SuperSU, encrypt the tablet, reboot and checked if root is still there (it is).
Now I am trying to unroot by selecting "Full Unroot" in SuperSU, but I got stuck in the "Uninstalling, please wait..." message.
Is this normal?
EDIT: I had to uninstall SuperSU, reinstall from Google Play, update the binary, reboot and then the Full Unroot works. I think it does, because I use "root checker" and it said no root.
I seem to be losing root after rebooting. This is a major issue for me as I have the Z3 set up with no soft keys and navigate using GMD Gesture. So when root dissappears I cannot navigate around the phone or exits apps etc.
I have narrowed it down to a potential issue with 'unicon' xposed module, which basically changes the icons at system level. I cannot say for sure that this is causing the issue but it looks very likely.
Also without root I cannot uninstall Supersu or Xposed, but with many reboots and managing to disable and then re-enable Supersu through system settings I now have root again. But as soon as I reboot it's gone again.
Very strange issue never encountered this before.
Some info about my Z3:
ANDROID 4.4.4
LOCKED BOOTLOADER
EDIT:
i have noticed a few more issues:
power button on side is not responding any more.
root is working now that supersu is uninstalled
i cannot boot into recovery both manually and through NDR utilities
If you are in a position to help, please please please do!
You need to disable the RIC
If you are unsure just flash an advanced stock kernel from the development section.

I read your post when you said you had an unlocked boot.
No you cannot flash a custom kernel.
OK, you will need to ensure you installed the recovery correctly.
Run the installer again for dual recovery and post the out put here.
If it goes correctly it will sort everything out for you

I have just this minute managed to correctly install the recovery. Will i be good from now on?
How do you recommend installing Supersu? When i try to install through the recovery the phone just reboots normally. Should i install a flshable zip instead of installing from playstore.
How will i prevent this happening again?

There is no lollipop for any sony phones so no one knows
Unless you mean custom roms and of course they are rootable.
Just flash a .93 FTF, root, install recovery and then flash a prerooted zip made with PRFCreator.
EDIT
If you think that backup does not have this issue on it then restore it.
However, if you are unsure its best to start again and then you can eliminate the problem.

so everything was great, then i installed the following apps:
GMD Gesture
Udn pro (xposed)
Xblast (Xposed)
Flat bars (xposed)
I now have no root again. Completely sucks i just set the goddamn phone up again and now back to square one!
How can one of these apps have the power to remove root?! my backup works flawlessly and i can reboot and still have root, it is 100% one of these apps

It will not be removing root... but it might be messing with it.
Its a slow process but try this
Restore the backup and setup again, then take a backup before you insall those 4, then start adding them one at atime, take a backup in between each one so you can restore it. It may be that on their own they are fine but together they could conflict.
At any point you may want to take a logcat and share it... Just a thought..

the thing is ive managed to get rid of xposed and all modules and now supersu is mucked up and wont stick after a reboot.
Therefore one of these apps must not only be messing with root but changing some system file to make Supersu not stick after a reboot?
Does that make sense? My responses may well go downhill from here, I'm losing the will to live
I will try that and post back. Thanks

Quick update: i have found the problem app and identified it as "LG Optimus Lockscreen". This app was asking for root privileges and was somehow disabling the home button through a setting to ensure someone couldnt unlock the phone by pressing the home button. It was also causing the issue with losing root.
Shame because the lockscreen is awesome
