[MOD] Make Samsung Galaxy Universal Mount Nexus 4 Friendly - Nexus 4 Accessories

This is a 'mod' for the Samsung Galaxy Universal Vehicle Navigation Mount to make it work better with the Nexus 4.
I had one of these babies for my Galaxy S3 and it worked really well. I liked that it was 'universal'.
One slight issue is that if your speak is on the bottom part of the rear of the phone, then you will struggle to hear anything out of it using this mount.
One way to 'fix' this is to ensure that the Nexus 4 sits a little forward in the mount, but due to the way the mount is designed, it 'pulls the phone back' to make it secure, so this is not a real fix.
Also, putting the phone in the other way does not help as then the side grips catch the volume button.
What I did to remedy this was to slice up an eraser into 4 very thing strips (each about 2 millimetres thick) and stuck them on the vehicle dock. As I have the 'eraser strips' going all the way across the phone, the phone still sits snugly in the dock, but it is far enough forward that I can still hear the sound coming out of the rear speaker. I've included some pictures.

After -

I was thinking of using double sided tape (with the plastic left on one side) instead of sliced up eraser, but the plastic on double sided tape would be very slippery against the glass back of the phone, so that's why I went with the eraser (it has some grip). As I used pretty weak glue, once I get a TPU case, I will probably go with the double sided tape as it will be more 'even' than my attempt at making 2mm thick slices of eraser
If I go with the double sided tape option, I'll post some pictures .

I got my TPU case, and took the 'eraser slices' off the holder and replaced with some double sided tape (leaving the plastic covering on one side). The tape is about 1.5mm thick.
The Nexus 4 fits perfectly in the dock, and is a little raised, thus allowing me to hear the rear speaker. In fact, as the phone currently sits, it seems to be louder that when I had the eraser slices (which were a little thicker). Pictures below -
Showing the locations I put the tape (leaving some spacing between the 2 strips make it more stable)
Showing how thin the strips actually (side view of holder)

A Very Nice Sleeve Case For the Transformer

I thought I would share with everyone this wonderul find I discovered at Best Buy. It is a sleeve case made by Init. It's a tablet pc sleeve that works perfectly for the Asus Transformer. There are a couple features I especially like about it.
1. The material has a nice soft vinyl/leather feel (seems like it would be waterproof) and a very nice embossed design (the circles you see in the images).
2. The inside of the sleeve is a very nice soft material that holds the transformer perfectly. It's not a tight fit but the transformer doesn't really slide around much inside.
3. The foldover flap is really nice. There are two buttons on the underside of the flap that snap easily to keep the flap from opening up.
4. Most of all (and the part hardest to describe) is that this case actually has a sleeve within a sleeve. When you open the flap you will see that it's actually two pieces of material held together by a zipper. When you open this zipper it reveals another pocket, a bit bigger than the one the tablet goes in, but this pocket is made for keeping stuff like your power adaptor, cleaning cloth, etc. Since the secondary pocket is completely separate from the one that the tablet goes in you don't have to worry about scratching the tablet. It sits snugly inside it's own dedicated pouch!
I wish there was a picture of this zippered pocket on the images I found both at Best Buy and on Init's website. Not showing the extra pocket makes it hard for people to understand the true utility of this sleeve. (UPDATE - I have taken a picuture of mine, a dark green model and shown it below).
Currently this case sells for $24.99 at Best Buy which I consider a total steal! I will be using mine as the primary case until a better portfolio sleeve comes out but I will keep this around for use while traveling, or tossing my Tranformer in an overnight bag.
Good Luck!

{Test}{Shared} Working DIY Stylus for Android on [galaxy core & xperia sp]

How to make DIY stylus probably for all android/ios device[VIDEO].
NOTE : This is a request from my friend @Sangeet007, that this trick could work on other device ,his thread on XDA portal HERE, So i make a video using our device i.e., galaxy core & Sony xperia sp.
So the credits will given to him to sharing this great idea..!!

Capacitive touchscreens are everywhere these days. They're in iPhones, iPads, iPods, Android/Windows smartphones, and all new tablets. Pretty much any mobile touchscreen device that is worth having, now has a capacitive touchscreen.
The fact that the touchscreens are conductive means that your device will only recognise a touch from your finger (or other body part) rather than, for example, the material in your pocket, or sleeve. This in turn means that you cannot use any old pen or nib as a stylus for your touchscreen.
So, because we're good guys here at PC Advisor - and we want to gain any advantage we can on Draw Something - we've looked into how to make a stylus. As it turns out, you can make your own DIY stylus with a few simple items you have lying around the house - and so long as you have a pulse (and therefor a natural electrical current running through your body) you can make your own stylus in a few minutes…and become the king of Draw Something at the same time.

A COTTON BUD.
ALUMINIUM FOIL (100X100)MM
SCISSORS
5-10 ML WATER
TAPE
PEN
VIDEO IN DETAILS [LINK]
STEPS HOW TO MAKE >>>
1. Remove the ink from the pen.
2. Cut the cotton swab at a sharp angle and insert it into the mouth of the pen. Secure with tape.
3. Wrap the foil around the neck of the pen, a couple of centimeters above the tip of the cotton swab. Wrap tightly, and secure with tape at the top.
4. Moisten the cotton swab with a drop of water. (No, this will not harm your tablet's or phone's screen.)
That's it! Your stylus is ready for use. Note that your finger must be touching the foil at all times, and if your stylus stops functioning, re-moisten it with a touch of water.

How to fix unresponding digitizer

So I bought a replacement screen, it became unresponding to touch within a few days. After sending it for a replacement the new one had the same issue right away. This time I desided to give it a go fixing it myself. I'd like to share with you how to fix this problem.
First of all the problem, the touch screen is not responding; its feeling very warm when you turn on your phone on the left down corner. The left down corner is where the screens hardware chip is located.
There are enough video's on youtube how to dissable your phone; so I will skip that part. Remove the screen and continue reading.
==================================================================================
Remove the copper carefully, try to keep it in one pieces. Its probably a ground field to keep interferences away.
If you dont want to remove the white plastic frame of your screen, you can cut it carefully for a little. Make sure you cut as less as needed and never cut it completely. Don't cut it near connections.

After remove the copper you see an L shape of components, protected for short circuits by an L shape on the copper plate. These are circled with red.
Then also note there is an arrow on the picture, showing there are more conductors, but these are unprotected! Pressing on the screen cause short-wiring here. Fix it by placing some kind of protector on it ( insulation tape or something like that). Place the copper back and assemble your phone!
Thanks. You have resolved a long standing problem with my 1020, two displays later.
For others:
To insulate those exposed components use the proper stuff. Kapton tape. Google it. Sold by electronics suppliers and on ebay.
Also, look carefully at the circuit board for uninsulated vias. Vias are the small holes that join tracks between layers in the circuit. They look like a small gold circle with a tiny hole in the middle. Cover these too.
Thank you so much ! :good::good:
You are a genius

Disassembled/reassembled phone, headphone buttons won't work

[TL;DR - opened my phone using screwdriver down the headphones hole to pop open the back cover, reassembled everything, must've bent one of the connectors inside the headphones hole, bent it back, sound is OKAY, mic+buttons is NOT]
Hi all!
I just opened up and reassembled my OPO to change my microphone and battery (both works perfectly fine, wooo!)
After the reassembly, I stuck my regular earpieces in the headphone slot of the phone, and I noticed a piece of metal was sticking out from the side, inside the slot (it went horizontally across the hole, about 3mm down).
I just pushed my earpices down slowly, and it just.. bent down easily and made room. I got sound in my earpices, and I could skip songs / change volume using them, as I always could.
However, when I was walking home from work, I noticed that the buttons didn't work anymore - I couldn't skip songs, adjust volume, nothing. They still won't work :/
I opened up the phone again to see if something was broken, but it -seems- okay; No dust, no broken pieces, but I dunno.. The headphone slot feels "firmer" than it used to be as well, but it plays audio just fine. It's just the buttons that annoys me.
NOTE: When I removed the back cover, I stuck a tiny screwdriver down the headphones hole and jerked it lightly backwards for the cover to pop open.
Here's a crappy MSpaint image on how it looks:

There are two small golden "dots" inside on the right (when keeping your screen facing you) and the bottom. On the left side is the golden "rod" that stuck out when I inserted the earpieces. There's a small crack just above where the rod starts, dunno if it's damaged or supposed to be that way.

Thank you!

Possible Flash Reflection from Case Cutout Fix

Some of you have heard of the flash issue with pixel/pixel xl cases, where when the flash is used, the light is reflected off the case cutout and shows up in the image. If the camera/flash were in a hump, that would allow it to extend pass the edge of the case and avoid all this. But anyway, I may have a fix.
It doesn't involve cutting the case to increase the camera opening. What we need to do is to prevent the flash from reflecting off the cutout of the case. So just take a black marker and start painting the internal edge of the cutout. I used a sharpie but perhaps an actual paint pen would be better for more opaque ink.
The case I just bought is one of these common styles:

The part that the phone actually sits in is a clear TPU part, so that makes it super reflective. I wonder if many of these issues can be solved if the internal case were simply black. So I had to blacken the edge of the outer case as well as the inner case. The inner case was harder to color because its surface is slippery and takes may layers to get the sharpie ink dark and wide enough.
Good idea for camera. That's a nice case, is it wallet with card slots?

It's this case:
https://smile.amazon.com/Feitenn-Premium-Leather-Kicstand-Magnetic/dp/B01M5JF48V
There is one slot on the cover, but I would not use it for anything other than a single business card. The pocket area is not indented so cards will cause the pocket to bulge toward the screen and push the cover far enough away to keep the closing magnet from working.
Also, the magnet in the cover serve only to keep the cover closed when in the front and when flipped to the back, but will not trigger the sleep/wake function (magnet needs to be near the bottom middle for that to work). But I specifically picked this case because it doesn't support the sleep/wake function so I can close the cover and have youtube continue to play, which won't work if the device locks. I then use another app to turn off the screen when the proximity sensor detects that the cover is closed (http://bsol.derpdeveloper.com/).
