I find this amusing as I sent back a Folio 100 and purchased a G Tabelet instead (Not received yet...).
I can only assume that "end consumers" were disapointed by the experience "out of the box" that I would agree with (a custom ROm is a MUST) but hope it is not hardware related...
BooToo
It had been discussed here.
I looked through Sears and Viewsonic's site, but can't see any mention of G Tablet docks being officially sold. I saw something about the docks being free with purchase at one time at Sears, but I combed their site and can't find the docks. Googling I see a few Chinese sellers, but not sure if what they are selling even works.
Where do you purchase these things, or are they even out yet?
You can get it from diffrent locations, it2steve is selling them.

There is a website
https://www.merimobiles.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=MERI0548
but they have them shipped from china, and it is slow as sin.
I ordered mine on the 1/1/11 and tonight i recived my tracking number but with no info to what company they used to ship it with.
next time just do a quick fourm search, most of the dock info is in G Tablet Accessories.
also these are not Official viewsonic docs, but it has been confirmed by many that they work well.

Also if you order from China it's getting close to their New Year(lunar) and the whole country practically is shut down for like 2w...
I just received mine yesterday (ordered on December 26th from Merimobiles). It's a legit Malata OEM dock, in Malata packaging. So I assume it will work fine. I know there were some issues with ethernet port support in some of the ROMs, but these are minor software issues we can fix once more people have the docks in hand.
I plan on trying out the dock today, but I think it will otherwise work fine.
Rebate dock
I got in on the rebate dock from US Merchants, but I was told yesterday(on the phone) that they are back ordered for 4 weeks!!! I will post my thoughts and review when I get mine.

I'm expecting another lot of docks to be in next week along with 'possible' other goodies. If you check with several people around here, I get them out the same day and they go pretty quick

Go look in the market forum post, (I thinkt hat he might have the link in his sig...)... basically you PM him, pay by paypal(IIRC) and he ships out your dock... I eventually plan to buy one, but want to pick up a case, a bluetooth GPS/logger, and some uSD cards before getting the dock as it's kind of low on my list of wants...
i.e. there is no website...

Thank you cutterjohn!!!
Now, about the case, have you heard of the case/screen protectors that they have in malls that are placed all over the device...suppose to be scratch resistent??? I have heard of people putting them on the fruit devices (appl) and they seem to be pretty good.

No. Not offhand, but check for threads in the gTablet accesories sub-forum...
I'm planning to order a leather case by casecrown meant for the Kindle DX, but a thread in the accessories forum adamantly claims that it fits the gTab perfectly... have a different case plus screen protector on the way for my Nook Color which should be delivered today(hopefully and minute now if it's the usual carrier -- just hope they don't put it on the package delivery truck...)
Debating pulling the trigger on that Qstarz 1000XT bluetooth GPS/logger next... want but don't really need for a few months...
Amazon is sold out.
Where are these cases for sale?
From what i can tell they're not available anywhere. Even the google play store lists them as "coming soon".
Amazon had them up for preorder. Mine was supposed to be delivered today but it hasn't even shipped yet so who knows. Also I wouldn't buy it from amazon anyway they have a lot of SCM issues with preorders and I wouldn't trust them even though I normally like amazon
yep,
posted in another thread about this.
pre ordered days ago when the htc foilo case was in stock on the site. got an email confirmation guaranteeing i would get it today.
email this morning states they dont know when they are in stock and threw out a december 4th date.
IVSO has a similar style case with the keyboard. oi may snag that. the reviews on it are for another product though...
classic bait and switch..
After seeing an article and video review on here and XDA being a place I trust, I thought I would go ahead and buy the Homtom HT50 from lightinthebox
Looked good, price was great, packing said 4 days, delivery 4 days, nice 1! Or so I thought!
I placed my order on 10th August plus a couple of other things, and by the timings I should've had my order on 18th!? The 18th has come and gone and nothing, various messages, excuses and missed shipping dates by lightinthebox then resulted them in saying, and I quote "We are unable to offer a date when the order will be shipped out"
Obviously I have cancelled my order and am waiting for a refund.
I can say that I will never use lightinthebox again and I've lost a lot of trust in XDA.
If I go to Google Store website, I find that in pretty much every region, Google is only selling the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro on their official stores, with the rare exception of Japan and India, where I see that even Pixel 6a is listed.
This makes me think that Google is no longer having stock of it's older models, and such models that are available in 3rd party stores (both online and offline) are essentially unsold inventory.
This leads me to the question:
Every year when OEMs launch their newer phone model, do they completely stop producing their older models in each segment? Does anyone have reliable info on this? No speculation please.
I bought a Google Pixel 5 on Amazon. There was something about the packaging that was suspect. It lacked the kind of polish one would expect from original packaging. Most importantly, month of manufacture was Dec'22.
As far as I know, Google stopped producing the Pixel 5 sometime in 2021, and all Pixel 5 available anywhere in the world should be 2021 or 2020 make. I don't think Google produced the Pixel 5 in 2022, and that too in Dec'22.
Apple doesn't instantly discontinue it's older models when new models are launched. The reason for this is to clear out inventory of components used in older models.
The point to remember is this:
If an OEM is still producing an older model, it will list it in it's own stores (both online and offline). If a manufacturer has stopped listing an item on its own store, it simply means it has stopped making it.
This is true for all manufacturers.

Yes, I noticed this when I bought a Samsung Galaxy A52 4G a few months ago. When I searched for it in the store, it didn't come up, but when I searched for it online, I found the product info page from Samsung.

So if you find a box of Galaxy A52 4G today that shows the month of manufacture as anything later than the time you stopped seeing it listed on the official site, it means the box is fake. The phone inside is either fake or a used/ refurbished one.
The problem is many online platforms like Amazon, eBay, etc. are used by dubious sellers to sell such used products as brand new, and these platforms don't seem to be doing enough to stop such cheating.
