Thanks to erron for pointing me to Staples!
SEARS still has limited stock, as of this writing. However, check your local Staples as it looks like they just got a shipment in:

My local store in PA has them in stock. I also heard a rumor that KMart and Radio Shack might be getting them next week, so you might want to keep an eye out.
have you heard if walmart would be getting these as well?

Have not heard anything in regards to WalMart. You'd think they'd be jumping on the bandwagon for the holidays, but nothing (yet). Maybe they'll surprise us, next week.
i need a place I have a credit card for to get it, we had a baby and cant budget out one lol. unless someone wants a mini 9 instead of their tab *hint* *hint* lol
Is anywhere shipping these internationally yet? It is incredibly hard to ship one outside the US. If they make it too hard I will get the advent vega
How could these retailers sell these without a solid, out of the box software package?
Sure, the retailers maybe / are clueless, but Viewsonic is not (in regards to the software issue).
Boxes still have Flash symbol on them
Storage mode does not see the microsd
No market
A lot of games and apps are broken
Storage mapping
Mystery reboots with stock FW
Boot loops
Not coming out of sleep
Seriously, I like my G (not with stock), but how does this device not fail on epic levels, since it fails "out of box"? Perhaps 95% of consumers will not be hanging around XDA- will not have a clue.
staples.com also carrying the gtablet

I don't know. I ended up returning mine because of the bad screen, but there are certainly a ton of other problems too out of the box. The return rate for these things must be off the charts.
New Info from Viewsonic s gtablet site
App Store
Please be advised that a software update is now available that provides access to an Apps Store directly from your G Tablet. Owners of the G Tablet will receive an automatic notice of the new software upgrade. Users can then simply click on the Apps Store icon from their G Tablet to gain access to 1,000's of leading Android apps. (Please note that the automatic notification requires that the G Tablet has WiFi Internet access upon power-on.)
Adobe Flash Support
The Viewsonic G Tablet hardware and firmware provides full support for the Adobe Flash Player built into the unit. At the time that the G Tablet was manufactured, the Adobe Player application was not available for this product. We anticipate that a version of the Adobe Flash Player Application will be available by December 19, 2010. Owners of the G Tablet will receive an automatic notice that the plug-in is available for download to further expand their web access and entertainment. (Please note that the automatic notification requires that the G Tablet has WiFi Internet access upon power-on.)
I just picked one up at Staples--I asked, and a manager said they had just come in on the truck last night and they were ready to be put out front yet. I mentioned how the Staples web site had said that they were in stock at this particular store, and the manager seemed to take pity, disappeared for a while, and came back with one. (Had to check me out herself, though.)
Office Depot has the Gtablet now as well. The have a working demo of the G and the Archos 7 (not 70). They are selling them now.
So far:
Kmart
Office Depot
Sears
Staples
BTW, the Viewsonic site was wrong and is one reason they pulled the information from their site. No Flash in the update.

they had it in stock at staples, but the manager wouldn't sell me one, claiming that it was a black friday item.
edit: purchased one online with free ship to store. $30 off $150 coupon i bought off ebay worked. it says it will arrive by wednesday, which is sooner than black friday! at $400 - $30 = $370, which appears to be the cheapest price i've seen for it. the only comparable one is $380 at sears on black friday with the free case.
Which store has the best return policy?
Well, I'll have to consider picking up a g tablet, as it seems the tablet is much more usable with the TNT lite 2.0 rom..
So, the next question is, where should I purchase it from? I want to give it a good try for a couple weeks before settling on keeping it. While I understand the unit should easily be able to be returned due to the fact that it's "defective" in some ways, I'd prefer just not having to deal with a pita manager worst case. So, do any stores that are selling it offer easy returns? Sears seems like a "no," but Staples seems to let you return the device used/opened, if you're not satisfied with the purchase. Anyone else know about kmart/etc?
Staples closest to me had 3 when I called them on Saturday to see if they had a REAL functional demo unit and not a mockup like Sears had. They did and also told me that they had 3 in stock. (Seems that the Staples stores all semed to have gotten a whopping 3 of them.)
Sears say 9-10d or 12-15d for stock. (I guess that the busier stores get first dibs on stock, surprisingly the one really close to me and the one just a bit further are both on the shorter time to restock. I felt that the close Sears was never very busy)
I never bothered going over to Staples until Monday morning, since I was sure that I would just pick one up even if I felt it to be grossly overpriced. I still feel that this is overpriced esp. when both Sears and Staples bracketed the gTab display with MUCH cheaper (Atom) netbooks ffs! (They had 2 left in stock on monday, and then 1 of course, after I purchased mine.)
All said and done thought, this is the tablet that I've liked the best from the get go and I'm still only using the stock fw, and 11/22 update now. Web browsing is just so much better with this tablet and the virt kb more responsive such that I can use forums via browser and actually enter messages non-painfully although a bit slowly. (Buhbye tapatalk...)
The PDF version of the manual is kind of funny loads of Engrish, which is kind of surprising considering that Pandigital's wasn't too bad actually while VS' is more like Augen's...
Anybody have any experience with searsoutlet.com? I found one thats over 200 miles away from NYC and for some reason they refuse to ship.

SEARS can be bad - 30 days but only for hardware defects, although I heard that they might extend that to 60 days during the holidays. For Staples, it's 14 days for tech items and seems pretty flexible.
KMart might be the best of the lot at 90 days, but again you should ask before purchasing as they might have exceptions.

I purchased my GTab from the Outlet - they don't ship because these are clearance / closeout items that are in that specific store. The GTabs are customer returns to they should be complete but expect some possible cosmetic defects as a used item.

Just check daily, in a few weeks I bet every store in the nation will have a pile of them, then we can snap 'em up.
Im looking to import one of these and was hoping to take advantage of the Black Friday sales. I saw the Sears catalog, but then someone else said they dont have any stock?
I can use a mail forwarder to buy it for me and then ship it to me in Australia. Looks like Staples and Sears both have them online. Can anyone please confirm:
- Do Sears and Staples currently have these in stock for quick shipping?
- Is it worth waiting for 'black friday' to buy one?
I really hope that no one else has hardware issues with their G-Tabs. Because as of right now. the only place you can buy them is ebay.
Every staples that i have called is sending their stock back to the manufacturer. And dont think you can call viewsonic technical support. because viewsonic doesnt actually handle warranty work with the g tablet, as i found out when i called. Apparently they only put their name on it and sell it.
So here i am getting the run around from everyone about where to go and the place where i need to call is closed. And they might not honor viewsonic's 1 year warranty on these tablets, and even if they did they might just send you something else (a new viewpad )or a refund.
So here is to hoping no one else has to deal with RMA's on our g tablets.
Sears and Office Depot carry them in stock.
Amazon has them in stock as well...
I noticed a Chinese site claims that they have all tablet in stock at manufacturer prices because they are close to many tablet manufacturers including viewsonic's Chinese OEM factory. Is that so? The link is, http://www.nowsupplier.com/category/android-tablet-c-52/
I bought mine at sears this week in el paso tx and they have 15 still in stock.
I hope you are still within your 30 days. If so, take it back to the store where you bought it.
I read that Staples has told their employees to be very symathetic with their customers. So, if you bought it at Staples they may be willing to take it back. Especially if it was purchased as a Christmas gift. If you purchased it somewhere else, find a couple of articles describing that Staples has pulled these from their shelves and print those out and take them with you to the store. Let them know you talked to VS support and they are the ones who said to return it for repair. Then if you wait a few weeks you can buy another if support for Honeycomb comes through. From what I have read there are some issues with hardware and not all just software issues. Some credit cards double the warranty on anything you purchase so you may want to dispute the purchase with your credit card company if you cannot get warranty repair or replacement or refund for out of box failure.

Personal Experiences with G Tablet
My comments about the G Tablet are based on my personal experiences as well as posts I have read from other users and things I have read in XDA posts and on other sites when searching Viewsonic G Tablet as well as posts made by people on this forum who asked Viewsonic personnel at the CES show about availability of Honeycomb for the Viewsonic G Tablet.
At the bottom of this reply is the article that said Staples employees should process product returns with “empathy and understanding". I think I said sympaty instead of empathy, so please don't correct me for misquoting the article. Again, this was from several weeks ago and a lot has happened since.
I have not said that all G Tablets have hardware defects or that that the majority have hardware defects. I have not said that at all! However, to think that any company can put out thousands of electronic gadgets without some PC board manufacturing problems is ridiculous. There will always be some products that will have hardware issues or manufacturing issues. Sometimes small parts are poorly placed or poorly soldered by the automatic surface mount process used in most electronic maunufacture today.
I have read posts here on xda of people who have taken the G Tablet outside in cold weather and it would not boot. I have had that same experience. I took my G Tablet to the Doctor's office and when I turned it on in my car, it just flickered and would not boot. The temperature was about 36 degrees that day and the G Tablet had been inside a padded computer bag. Once the G Tablet warmed back up it operated fine. Please know that I also had my HTC EVO phone with me at the same time and it worked fine in the same temperature.
I read a post on xda from someone who asked the people at the Viewsonic booth as CES if Honeycomb would be available for the G Tablet and it was that poster who said that the booth personnel were non committal.
I read one of the posts from the VP of Viewsonic around December 20-23 and in that post someone asked him if Viewsonic had plans for the G Tablet and upgrades. Honeycomb was a rumor at the time and I don't think it was mentioned by name. The post also said something about the screen on the G Tablet. The answer from Viewsonic was that they were working on new products and thanks for hanging in with them. Their post was not too forthcomming and I think said they had no plans to upgrade the screen on the G Tablet. He hinted that higher resolution screens would be available for newer products. Please remember I read this about three weeks ago and if you want to know what he said word for word, look up the post. I think the VP's name is Adam Haim, but again that is from memory.
What makes me believe that Honeycomb may not be available from Viewsonic for the G Tablet is posts I read that indicatete that the requirements for using Honeycomb (from Google) require a higher resolution screen than the one in the G Tablet.
My post was not ment for G Tablets in general. It was to a specific person who said he had hardware issues with his G Tablet. Since I have had similar experiences with G Tablet and the VS tech support people, I can understand how he felt.
It seems to me that it would help his case when he goes back to the store to return his G Tablet if he has printed out information that clearly says Staples has pulled the G Tablet for "Hardware Issues". It does not matter weather there are hardware issues or not. Having the printouts in his hands while he is talking to the store personnel wouldn't hurt his chances of returning the device he says has Hardware Issues.
I hope you all kept your original box, and packing material. Beacuse, if you ever need warranty repair, VS web site says you must return your product in the original packaging with your original sales recipt. It also says if you have modified or repaired your gTablet you have voided your warranty.
My personal experience with the G Tablet are:
No response from the top half of the screen within the first three days of having the G Tablet. At that point I thought I had a bad screen. I called Viewsonic and the tech support person gave me a different phone number to call for a RMA.
The tech support person had said to me that they were not having any issues with the screen being unresponsive but I was the third person she had talked to that day with the same type of problem. Please note I had the tablet for three days and tech supports only option was to send it in for repair.
I found the solution for doing the screen calibration on xda and that fixed the problem. Other tablets and other pocket PCs and phones have a calibration self test where the user can calibrate the device. The G Tablet does not have that.
I had a problem early on with the G Tablet that caused forced closes with the G Tablet. I was able to clear the problem by doing the factory reset in setting and did not have to partition the sd card or other fixes, but it bothers me that Viewsonic doesn't have fixes for these.
It also bothers me that: I have read other posts (one was an answer from Roebeet) that said there is a reset button inside the G Tablet but that you have to open your case to get to the reset button, and thus void your warranty.
In my opinion (and you are welcome to your own) we should not have to void our warranty in order to install software (clockworks) to let us partition our SD cards (see other posts) when G Tablets fail to boot because partitons are or become screwed up (technical term).
I have also included the warranty for the G Tablet at the bottom of this overly long post. Notice that Viewsonic's name is not mentioned only gTab or gTablet.
"Staples has pulled the ViewSonic G Tablet from its shelves, citing manufacturing defects, according an Engadget tipster. Despite the fact that the tablet was featured in a recent circular and the store has no other tablets to sell to customers who want one, Staples has opted to send all of the existing stock back. Whatever management thinks is wrong with the G Tablet, it’s serious enough that they’re encouraging employees to process product returns with “empathy and understanding”, according to an internal document. There are no details on what these defects were, but considering the long list of issues cited in our review, it could be any number of things.

In my post I referred to Adam Haim. The VP of Marketing for Viewsonic is actually Adam Hainin.
I don't like to post information with a quoted source unless I have their actual post. I was able to find this and now I can post it with Mr. Hanin's actual words. The post was in xda on or about December 20, 2010.
Here is the quote from Mister Hainin:
"If we change the screen it would be in a new model we release... we would not replace it in the existing gTablet... any gTab enhancements or upgrades would be in the software, not the hardware. Don't want to start any unfounded rumors here!"

Please see my long post. I don't know if these higher resolution screens will actually be a requirement for Honeycomb to run on the G Tablet or not. That is why I based my opinion as "I have read..." Also, the demo on The Xoom (The map of Bellagio) required a three or four finger "pinch" to get the map to rotate to 3D (the highlight of the demo I believe). Is the G Tablet capable of a 4 finger pinch or scroll? I think it only works in two Dimensions? AKA 4 finger operating system.
Please advise, thank you.

Here is an example of a guy who had his G Tablet for a few days at most and his left speaker won't play. That sounds (or doesn't sound) like a hardware problem to me.
I have made an effort to provide examples of what I think are hardware problems or at least QC problems. I hope these posts are enough examples of what I am talking about. wantadroid, it is interesting that you have not found a thing that would prevent the G Tablet from getting Honeycomb, but in another post you seem to think your G Tablet will be completly out of date in a matter of a few months...
"I look at it like this.... I paid roughly $400.00 for my tab(with tax). I understand that technology is moving SOOOO fast that my tab will be completely out of date in a matter of months. I bought my tab to have fun with, and part of the fun I want to have is to push it to see how far it will go. I guess in the end if I destroy my tab I will only be out the 400 bucks, but the other side of it is I can learn a helluva lot about rooting and flashing ROMS on an android device that I will(hopefully be able to) replace within a year."
We get it dude. You don't like Viewsonic and you don't like the G Tab. Return it or sell it on Ebay. All products have bad production runs. Even Uncle Steve has had issues with the iPhone. You can speculate all you want about what this tab may or may not get in the future. My D1 is running gingerbread right now and I haven't had an "official" release nor do I expect one.
So I just noticed that the G Tablet is no longer listed at Sears, Staples, and Kmart online hope this doesnt mean anything bad for the future of the gtab.
still there
I'm still seeing it on amazon.com and Kmart's site.
I noticed that myself. If you follow the "purchase online" link from Viewsonic, all links show not available. I did talk to a rep @ my local Office Depot who said he just received 6 more on his last order that stated "final shipment". They are now directed to order the VIEWPAD 10 which is the dual boot W7/ android version.
Makes me wonder if Viewsonic is halting production on the GTab.

Def not listed on kmarts website. unless you are mistaking it for another device, and as said in previous post on viewsonics website they arent showing it listed anywhere either. as for that dual boot tablet that seems cool but last i heard it was running 1.6 which is just not acceptable.
GTAB still available at the Office Depot
This is where I bought mine, and the price dropped by $20.

Not at all, surprised this thread isnt getting more attention esp for the love we all have for our tablets. It was pointless though to have those 2 links if they pointed to nothing lol.
*UPDATE 2*
Just got off the phone w/ Viewsonic. Production has NOT been halted on the GTab's. Rep was only able to find it available at Sears. Nowhere else. What "might" be causing the problem is guys like us buying up all the stock from local retailers.
I was told that K-Mart especially will pull links to products that are out of stock to prevent surplus back orders.
We'll just have to keep an eye open for future developments.
Heading to Office Max right now to buy the last 1 in stock.
Brings my stable to 4. I'm happy.

Wow I ordered mine two days ago. Just under the wire. Hopefully it will be back better then ever at some point.
Tt
Those links still do not produce a Gtab for purchase.
Compare:
Gtab http://www.viewsonic.com/gtablet/
Vpad10 http://www.viewsonic.com/products/vpad10.htm
The Rep @ VS had no explanation as to why those links were pulled from the Gtab site.
The Gtablet has always been a stepping stone, so if it has vanished, the issue now is will the VP at Viewsonic that told us of the continued support and software updates still hold true?
BTW, the Viewpad is inferior for a few reasons for Android:
1. A lot less battery life due to Atom cpu and required fan.
2. Windows overhead
3. Android boot mode is 1.6 only
4. Atom CPU may never get support higher than 1.6, since Microsoft is pushing for the newer chipset to be used in tablets. Do not let OEM try to BS you that 2.1, yet alone 2.2 or higher is coming- Too late in the chipset curve to bother.
For an Android device and the combination of power and battery life- the Gtablet is FAR better than the Viewpad.
BTW, the current Atom based Viewpad is a stepping stone as well.
While the area Staples stores do not have the gTablets any longer, my local store's tech person told me this afternoon he "expects to have them back in stock soon." No details but then there never are about tech stuff availability when not in the store or computer. We shall see.
Sears has plenty in stock......store today had 3 or 4....

It's still on the Sears site: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00382001000P?prdNo=16&blockNo=66&blockType=G66
In fact, they still have yet to update their site to remove the Viewpad specs...

it is the reality I guess, whether stores/sites still selling gtab or not, in the next few months, people won't buy it anyways. There are more better tablets (at least on the paper) coming in next few months with a similar price points such as ASUS, Elocity A10, etc. Unless Viewsonic decides to upgrade the model with a better screen, better software, etc.. I don't see how gtab can compete with others if the price is still around $350 - $400..
On the positive side, the hardware is still good enough to run the next android OS (honeycomb). I will be very satisfied if I can get honeycomb on my gtab and it can last a year..
Just my 2 cents.
That is not the g-tablet.. its the viewpad.. its different. Sears did sell both.

i agree with you one hundred percent
Just a heads up: the Gtab is no longer on the website of tigerdirect in Canada or the US. Incidentally I doubt they sold all their stock: the local store here in London, Ontario had 5 as of yesterday (not counting the two that I returned for various hardware defects before getting a refund). Also, yesterday the TG website was showing "Buy today, ships today". Canadians should look for it for an even lower price now at places like factorydirect and XSCargo.
Maybe they are sold out?
Or maybe they started getting complaints that the software was buggy and that there was no way to fix it (the OTA updater just started working again in the last hour or so).
See my edit above. I doubt they ran out and I doubt it's a software issue because (at least in Canada) they would charge a 15% restocking fee if the item is not "defective" (which I understand to mean hardware). Having said that, given the crappy hardware I recieved not once but twice (damaged screen first time and sleep of death second time), I wouldn't be surprised if I'm not the only having hardware problems and that was what led them to pull it. Again, just speculating.
They are $280 again through woot. Search Amazon.
I bought mine from TD in Feb, I noticed they disappeared a few days after I made my purchase but then returned about a week later.. Could be they are sold out, they were selling for 299..

I don't think that any of the stores have sold out. 2 months ago I spoke to the manager at the Office Depot I go to and asked their opinion of the Viewsonic Tablets and since I have gone there for over a decade they said it is the most returned product they sell. They had hopes Viewsonic would be able to fix the problem but it has been months and still riddled with problems. I just got my tablet a few weeks ago and tried to keep it stock due to warnings and possible new update "any day now". But I got so many FC's and crashes I had to put a cusotm ROM on. Thanks to TNT Lite and Vegan modders I have had only 1 FC in the 1 week of the new ROM.
Viewsonic should just send all distributers a sticker to put on the Tablet boxes that says: Sorry but you will need to get a ROM upgrade from XDA, Slate,.... to have a fully functioning tablet"
Just last night my son actually played with the Gtab and could not believe how quick and responsive it is and easily played YouTube!

Great... just as I finally convinced myself to buy one and see the OTA updater works.
Anywhere else where we can buy those in Canada?
Sending mine for warranty already
Bought 2 gTablets, the first one is already going to warranty because one specific color (slightly off-white) is being displayed as a cyan color. sigh...
Hope the 2nd one doesn't go bust. I only had it for less than 3 weeks

Hi,
Just a counterpoint: I've had my Gtab (original) since late November, and have been on only stock since then. I did re-partition once to 2048/0, a long time ago, but the only times I've had problems w FCs was w the OOB initial firmware, and once when I installed an app (don't remember which one). The OTA update fixed the former, and doing Fix Permissions w CWM fixed the latter. I think that doing the re-partition early-on has saved me a lot of headaches, but stock has been stable for me.
Jim
I don't know if the earliertablets were better quality or not but I've also had my tab since November. Flashed almost all the roms on here and haven't had to nvflash yet (knock on wood). I did have to repartition the first time i tried bekkits cm based rom. Over the last six months have only seen one improvement after the next coming from the developers. Doesn't matter what your needs are there's a rom to fit them.
I ordered one through tigerdirect.ca and it seems to be coming from the USA through UPS. So who knows.
When they had the eBay sale last month, I picked one up. From that sale, they sold 376 of them. They may be sold out.
I actually have no trouble believing tigerdirect is pulling it due to high rate of returns. Let's admit it. For every person who wanders around and found xda, there are perhaps 10 others who never figured it out and were stuck with the stock rom. Without knowing about the repartition fix, a high number of them would eventually get FC's. The rest would be disappointed about not having google market because they never figured out how to fix market.
The gtab is a very fast and responsive tablet IFF you're willing to put some work into it. I've been fixing people's computers for years, and it's my experience that most users just don't want to bother with doing fixes.
This is the reason why I don't recommend the gtab to people. It's working just fine for myself and my elderly parents (and I'm a noobie with android modding). My elderly dad hasn't encountered a single issue other than calling me a few times to ask how to turn on the gps again (LOL).
If anything, the hype about the gtab should stop. We really don't need more whiners in our community. There should be a pinned thread telling people to go to buy an ipad.

It doesn't have a GPS...unless you're hooking one up externally through bluetooth.
What concerns me about the gtab is not the software issues, it's the hardware issues. From screens with dead pixels to sleep of death to problems with charger ports, it just seems like a cheaply built piece of equipment with no quality control. I wouldn't want people to get the wrong impression of android based on this tablet: I had a lot of fun playing with it and modding it. In the end, it's hardware issues that led me to return two consecutive gtabs. I'll be tenth in line to pick up the Asus Transform (after I read the reviews from the first nine early adopters )
I actually asked Tiger Direct if they were out of stock and this is their answer:
"Unfortunately the item is no longer available since the manufacturer already discontinued the item. Kindly call one of our sales representative at 800-800-8300 for further assistance in finding the comparable item."
I would say that is quite interesting. I guess it means Canadians are out of luck if we want a new unit...
So according to TD, the Gtab has been officially discontinued. Interesting...
I am not surprised to see that Viewsonic decide to discontinue the GTab. How could it compete with Asus Transformer? The other poster pointed out correctly, the GTab is rubbish with the stock ROM. People have to replace the ROM from day one and void the warranty. If I had known the price for the Transformer before I purchased the GTab, Viewsonic would have had one customer less now.

Sure, but most people that bought it knew that and were planning to use a custom ROM anyway. I know I wanted to (I always use custom ROMS on all my electronics whenever possible).
But it would definitely explain why the GTab was so cheap these days.

probably .
my response from Tigerdirect.ca:
"We do apologize for the inconvenience.
Unfortunately our records indicate that this item is on backorder and should be available within this week.
You can chose to wait for the item or you may also contact one of our sales representatives at 1.800.800.8300 for further assistance finding a comparable item. Thank you for your time and patience."
If anyone knows where to find any in Canada right now please let me know.
Thanks!!
The following notice is posted on amazon.com for the product page for the 16GB wifi only 7+ tab:
Item Under Review
While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)
We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
--
I wonder what the problem might be. Perhaps SOD issues?
Or to slow down any other 7" tabs that might present a better option to their KF?
(Not really a conspiracy fan, honest!)
interesting, i got mine in 2 days from Amazon..
Amazon will sometimes randomly freeze an item for no apparent reason. The Pentax K-5 SLR camera was frozen for about 2 days on Amazon maybe 2 months into its lifetime.
Mine is reported as shipped. Ordered Monday Dec. 5.
It sounds like people are complaining about description of it or the wording as its described it doesn't sound like any major problems.
Maybe some thought they would bypass T-mobile and slap there sim card in it like I did
