I got mine from ebay too
I got ebay #220687867777
As above, it is a tight fit but the power button is the problem, likely all the same case from different sellers..
I superglued a tiny plastic fragment from a shampoo bottle lid under the cases button indentation and it's perfect. The smoke effect isn't so good where I put the glue but duh... its a solvent.
It came with a screen protector which was surprisingly good compared to the Zagg ones I have used before (and still have).
Total bargain
well after initial getting one off flea bay it came and did the job but was bulky and the power button was hard to operate
then read on here about some one who got a very good one and no power button issues, so i got the link and ordered one and i have to say its excellent
fits a lot better than the other one and far less bulky and the power button is no longer a problem

After seeing this I ordered one of these, and I can confirm it works well - much better than the previous case I had, where it was a real pain to press the power button. Really fast (free) delivery and only £3.49 - bargain!
Got a case-mate one today from carphone whore house it was a tenner with screen protector that I immediately threw away, as I don't see the need for a screen protector also it looked like it wouldn't fit that well. The case itself is pretty nice, I don't think it is silicone (maybe TPU) as it comes out of my pocket easily (you all know what I mean). It is very sleek and fits really well, power and volume buttons are easy to use so a win all round. Unfortunately it is not on either the CPW or the case-mate website yet (they had one type of case in stock and only one of that case in stock). Looking at the other case-mate cases I believe it is from their barely-there series.

That looks great. My wife is about to get a Desire HD, I'm used to flexishield cases (which I think is brilliant for my HD2) - is this as good as theirs?
Thanks.
The case you are discussing in here is the same one I posted about in this thread. The seller I got it from sells it for a little less (£2.75) but it is exactly the same one. I have to say I have no problems with it, it fits well, all the buttons and openings are well cut and I would recommend it to anyone. As for the power button, the inital HTC design is a pain but this case helps out to some degree, that said, it is still difficult to press at times.
Regards.
Is it worth buying a hydro case or a silicone gel case like these

I bought 2 of these the other day I gave one my friend who has the HD as mine doesn't come till Monday. The case looks fine and does the job. There is a really smart looking case on Play.com coming out at the end if the month. These will do until then.

Thats the same one i got a few days ago, feels really good, buttons work fine, really happy with it

There are a couple of types available for Desire HD, and we have had no complaints so far.
In pictures, the mytouch looked cheap, plasticy, and low end. I got it yesterday, and wow! It's high end, thin, but still heavy and feels high end, the buttons dont look cheap, the metal is really good looking, and the soft touch looks great!
It is a great phone.. as long as your buttons don't start to squeek. My wife's on hers sound like a squeeky floor board. Annoying.

How often does she hit the buttons on a phone that's all touch screen? I'm glad my buttons aren't squeaky, though.
Yeah, mine was from ebay. I got good buttons, good ffc, superior screen, etc
It probably may not be the best looking device but it definitely delivers the best performance by an android phone.

Be wary of the buttons; especially the power button up top. It will wear down. I use button saviour, just so I'm not constantly using all of them.

Thanks for the tips...I usually use the touch pad to unlock the screen so i guess i cut the use in half
I use my buttons all the time and they are just fine. Just like any other thing, it should be good if you use it with care and you take care of it.
Has anyone noticed something reddish and rough on the volume rocker surface after using it for more than 6 months? I hope its not rust and just polish that has eroded...I stay in Mumbai where the climate is quite humid that's why i think its rust..
Yes I have the same issue, a coppery colour with rough texture, my power button has also started to loose the silver finish.
But do you think its rust or just eroded polish??
Of course its not rust. The rocker is alloy-plated. After a while it disappears. Sad but true
Thank god it isnt rust...but i have heard that cheap metals also get rust ..
Same with me. Coppery brown color on volume and power keys. The silver color is no more.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
yep mines the same, its just the silver wearing off, there is nothing to worry about, its just a shame they didnt use solid metal insted of the plastic with silver coating.
Good for you. My volume rocker essentially failed, the volume down function barely works, I have to press it very hard. Does anyone have experience about RMA in this case?

I dropped my phone and it landed on its side bending my volume rocker down the centre, It kept falling out as it no longer fitted properly, inevitably one day I lost the rocker but I bought a replacement online, it was slightly expensive for what it is but in no way costly. You can pry your old one off with something thin, a small blob of adhesive holds in on the the middle of the rocker, and then 1 metal and 1 rubber (?) tab hold it into the phone. The rubber tab is at the bottom of the rocker so pry with something thin from there.
I bought mine http://www.parts4repair.com/products/HTC-Desire-HD-Volume-Button.html there. I choose the cheapest delivery which took almost 2 weeks to the UK. Its up to you whether you choose this option or not. I thought I would just put it out there incase anyone wants to replace their volume rockers.
That may happen in the near future if my phone falls for 2 times or more!...but thats good information @didge3...and why are you still using ARHD 5.2.1 when 6.1.0 is out?But if you prefer sense 2.1 wasn't 5.2.6 the smoothest?

Thank you, but I think my problem is with the volume down button itself, and according the site you linked this case I would have to buy a motherboard flex cable that is about $50...
I´ve been using a silicon case since day one (17. November 2010)
Everything still looks like on day one...
I would send it in to HTC, they can replace the buttons ...
They have outstanding service!

Should really update my signature more often! When I posted I was running 5.2.1, and shortly after I bumped up to 5.2.6 but too be honest I was looking at 6.1 and thinking I'm a little bored of Sense so now I'm running MIUI+, a slight change....
Also got this, it's a real shame. The paint is only coming off on the bottom side, and also the actual button is starting to break off the phone at the bottom !

Yeah, me too. A good silicon case is certainly worth it and for me the phone feels better in hand. I use this very one (from this review).
the volume rocker is one weak link in an otherwise excellent phone,,
barely a month after i bought a new DHD, and my "" vol - "" aint working !
have to use software to adjust vol,,,,
Agree, a good case is the answer. Got a nice case of play.com. It's a exspect case paid about £6, bargin, kept mine safe for months now. Give a look...

i have to agree, im going to c if they loosen up a little, or else ill just cut the power one out
I did that for the volume buttons on my TPU case, the power hole was open already, I used an Exacto knife to carve out the volume buttons and it's MUCH better now.
have this model for now 2 month without problem
i love the side grip
probably i cut the power button

so after 2 months it hasnt loosened up
i love the phone naked, but a little too slick and always worried that the phone would slip out of my hands, the case keeps the bulk down and side grip makes for a less chance of it flying out of my hands, but i could of done without it as the tpu skin would of sufficed
I've been using this case since February. It's really quite impressive for the price. It has probably saved me from a cracked screen at least once. For the price it's really good.
Just got mine in the mail yesterday. For $2.42 shipped, how could I pass it up? I love the look and feel of it (especially the feel), and while I appreciate the stiffness of the buttons making it hard to accidentally press something, they are very firm to the point of being difficult to press. Sucks because I love everything else about this case, especially the side grips, and it's easily my favorite among all the Skyrocket cases I've tried (Otterbox Defender, Diztronic TPU, a bunch of those cheap silicone/mesh hybrids and a Reiko case similar to the Defender, but with a kickstand). Do those buttons loosen up with time at all, or do they pretty much stay the same?

I hated the volume buttons on my TPU case so I cut them out so it's just an opening to the original buttons, same as the power button. I just used a box cutter and cut out around the outline, you can't even tell, and it's *so* much easier now.
I have this for a while and I'm pretty sure the buttons are loosening up with time, happens to me that i accidentally wake the phone clicking the volume keys while simply grabbing it. I only remove it when I'm flashing stuff and need to get to recovery often, then it's a bit annoying.
Just bought mine yesterday. Waiting now.

Well, I screwed this one up pretty good. I cut the covers for the power and volume buttons out, then realized that they're so far recessed in the case that I'll never be able to get to them. It's even less convenient now than it was when the buttons were impossible to press. Oops.
Diztronic TPU incoming.

Just a heads up to anyone buying one off amazon, switch who you purchase from. The default is from a Hong Kong seller. I bought the iPhone variant a while back for a friend, saving 10cents is not worth 3 weeks of ship time.

For Christmas I got an otterbox case. I was happy about it and have had it on ever since, but when cleaning my one x screen I went to click the lock/power button and noticed it didn't click in like it used to and seemed a little bit harder to push. Its not really a problem but it aggravates me. Is there anyway to fix it?

Is the button itself jammed in? If you can't pop it out with something very fine, you might have to disassemble the phone to see what the state of the button looks like.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Well if I take the very edge of my finger nail (hard enough cause I hardly have any) and push I can feel it click... But with the pad of my finger it seems really hard to push. I won't put my otterbox case back on because I'm afraid of further damage

I noticed it was hard to push on my case after a few hours of use but I thought okay rubber... Its gonna take a little bit more, after a day or two it seem really difficult to push my power/lock button. So last night I took my case off and realized my button didn't click anymore, it works just doesn't click which makes it hard to use :/

A number of people have had that problem. Your options are to live with it or replace it. I know there's at least one guy in this forum it completely stopped on him and now he just runs roms that support sleep to wake lol
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
Like you said before, it might be the rubber getting in the way while you have the case on. By design, the power button is kinda hard to press anyways and feedback on that button is questionable at best. I have the Platinum Series case from Best Buy, and after 3 months of great use, the power tab broke off (After reading alot of feedback on that happening ..)
I've since moved to Elemental Kernel which enabled swipe to lock and unlock. Works a lot better than the button IMO. Only time you would need to use the power button in that case would be to reboot your phone.
I used to have an otterbox. Hated it. Once the rubber gets loose, you'll replace it and see that your buttons are fine. It's just the design of the case and the phone. The phone power button is actually kind of slightly down and not flat so it should be pushed in at an angle. The rubber button doesn't press at this angle until it gets pushed all the way down.
I am having this same issue. I purchased the phone used from a guy who used an otterbox case. I took the case off immediately when I bought it. There was gunk caked into the front camera, and the power button is tough to depress. I am rooted, so I doubt I can bring the phone back to AT&T.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
