In pictures, the mytouch looked cheap, plasticy, and low end. I got it yesterday, and wow! It's high end, thin, but still heavy and feels high end, the buttons dont look cheap, the metal is really good looking, and the soft touch looks great!
It is a great phone.. as long as your buttons don't start to squeek. My wife's on hers sound like a squeeky floor board. Annoying.

How often does she hit the buttons on a phone that's all touch screen? I'm glad my buttons aren't squeaky, though.
Yeah, mine was from ebay. I got good buttons, good ffc, superior screen, etc
It probably may not be the best looking device but it definitely delivers the best performance by an android phone.

Be wary of the buttons; especially the power button up top. It will wear down. I use button saviour, just so I'm not constantly using all of them.

Thanks for the tips...I usually use the touch pad to unlock the screen so i guess i cut the use in half
I use my buttons all the time and they are just fine. Just like any other thing, it should be good if you use it with care and you take care of it.

Found quite a very good inexpensive case for Omnia 7 on ebay.
Paid 5 pound in total and it arrived today Think i ordered last week on Tuesday.
First impression. Very solid and durable. Unlike silicon ones i found around Dublin it doesnt slip of the phone when you take it out of your pocket and it looks brilliant. Grip is perfect. The middle back of the phone isnt too grippy though it would be perfect not getting too stuck in the pocket, but the sides where the reflective back is it offers great grip ive been missing
Also design is great and looks lovely on the phone
One con. The buttons are as easy to push. They dont offer such tacktile feedback as without it. But im sure ill get used to it Actually quite helps to stop accidental buttons presses while in the pocket or playing games
Generally 9 out of 10 One of the best cases ive ever seen

Got the same case. Quality is pretty good, however, I don't like the fact that it also convers the buttons, you have to press through the case to press the buttons, so they're somewhat hard to press.
So I think I'll cut out some space where the buttons are (with a dremel tool)
I didnt like that either. But it actually stopped alot of accidental button presses since.
Main problem here is that the audio jack and usb port dont align correctly. Otherwise a great case
It looks very nice. I have leather pouch for my Omnia, but I'm not satisfied because you have to take it out of your pocket and than out of pouch, which I don't like much.
From the pictures it looks like it could be a little difficult to connect it to mUSB. Do you have to take it out if you're charging it or connecting to PC?
I dont.
The only time i have to is when im trying to connect it to FM transmitter cause the jack hole doesnt allign and doesnt allow sufficient space. Works grand with the headphones supplied by Samsung though.

Hey Heimiko
I've got the same case and am finding that the buttons are too hard to press. Thinking about cutting holes over the buttons too. Did you have much success with this? Are the buttons a lot easier to press now?
Thanks

I think i got it off www.Zedge.net its a mobile website for phone wallpapers and videos and stuff
I've got this case as well, and it's definetely one of the better quality cases.
Unfortunately the holes for the headphones and usb port aren't completely aligned with the actual ports, so I had to cut them out a bit.
It's a really slim fit and can be a bit hard to remove. The grips on the side make it feel quite nice in your hands.
Hello NS Owners,
Does your NS squeek when you apply slight pressure on the plastic at the side of the volume rocker?
Mine does and it annoys mei! For €470 it should be a solid build. I'm just wondering if I got a bad one or are they all like this. I don't really want to stuff it with paper!
Thanks
Nope. I've had two, neither squeeked.

Look man, this is what you get with Samsung. You cant expect a solid build when 95% of their hardware is plastic. HTC or Apple on the other hand, they reason why their phones have such good build quality is because they're made out of solid metal (typically aluminum) and glass. Yeah, my volume buttons are wiggly and squeaky if i push them against the plastic bezel too. I have learned to live with it. It's just how Samsung works.
Thanks
Okay thank you both for your input. I think I will contact Samsung. Even if they won't do anything for me, at least they might take note of the complaint.

Better than nothing for sure, but all in all, I hope they don't make the next Nexus phone... :/
Mines doesn't squeak. I think it probably would eventually if you keep removing the battery cover. I try not to remove mines.
I honestly do not have a problem with the plastic build because its light and I love to lay down in bed holding my phone over my face. My old myTouch 4g had superb build quality, but was just too heavy to hold for long periods.

HTC? Have you every touched a HD2? Or seen the screen coming apart on an EVO? HTC is no curve setter, and i personally would put them in the same class as samsung, other than the newest phones coming out recently.

Funny, I've owned 2, and they both of them had buttons that squeaked/rattled. But like another user said, I put a case on them, and it doesn't squeak any more - the case puts just enough tension on them to keep them from rattling in place.

I'm very happy that you have so much money. If ever you feel the need to make your pockets a bit lighter then I'll gladly help you out.
And to everyone else:
It's not the buttons that squeak. It's where the back cover "touches" the buttons. It's almost like the back cover isn't clipping on properly so it moves a little bit and then it squeaks. I've tried using a silicon cover but that had no effect... I wish that they used the Samsung Wave design for the Nexus S. That phone was solid as a rock.
Has anyone noticed something reddish and rough on the volume rocker surface after using it for more than 6 months? I hope its not rust and just polish that has eroded...I stay in Mumbai where the climate is quite humid that's why i think its rust..
Yes I have the same issue, a coppery colour with rough texture, my power button has also started to loose the silver finish.
But do you think its rust or just eroded polish??
Of course its not rust. The rocker is alloy-plated. After a while it disappears. Sad but true
Thank god it isnt rust...but i have heard that cheap metals also get rust ..
Same with me. Coppery brown color on volume and power keys. The silver color is no more.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
yep mines the same, its just the silver wearing off, there is nothing to worry about, its just a shame they didnt use solid metal insted of the plastic with silver coating.
Good for you. My volume rocker essentially failed, the volume down function barely works, I have to press it very hard. Does anyone have experience about RMA in this case?

I dropped my phone and it landed on its side bending my volume rocker down the centre, It kept falling out as it no longer fitted properly, inevitably one day I lost the rocker but I bought a replacement online, it was slightly expensive for what it is but in no way costly. You can pry your old one off with something thin, a small blob of adhesive holds in on the the middle of the rocker, and then 1 metal and 1 rubber (?) tab hold it into the phone. The rubber tab is at the bottom of the rocker so pry with something thin from there.
I bought mine http://www.parts4repair.com/products/HTC-Desire-HD-Volume-Button.html there. I choose the cheapest delivery which took almost 2 weeks to the UK. Its up to you whether you choose this option or not. I thought I would just put it out there incase anyone wants to replace their volume rockers.
That may happen in the near future if my phone falls for 2 times or more!...but thats good information @didge3...and why are you still using ARHD 5.2.1 when 6.1.0 is out?But if you prefer sense 2.1 wasn't 5.2.6 the smoothest?

Thank you, but I think my problem is with the volume down button itself, and according the site you linked this case I would have to buy a motherboard flex cable that is about $50...
I´ve been using a silicon case since day one (17. November 2010)
Everything still looks like on day one...
I would send it in to HTC, they can replace the buttons ...
They have outstanding service!

Should really update my signature more often! When I posted I was running 5.2.1, and shortly after I bumped up to 5.2.6 but too be honest I was looking at 6.1 and thinking I'm a little bored of Sense so now I'm running MIUI+, a slight change....
Also got this, it's a real shame. The paint is only coming off on the bottom side, and also the actual button is starting to break off the phone at the bottom !
I blame all the reboots into recovery...

Yeah, me too. A good silicon case is certainly worth it and for me the phone feels better in hand. I use this very one (from this review).
the volume rocker is one weak link in an otherwise excellent phone,,
barely a month after i bought a new DHD, and my "" vol - "" aint working !
have to use software to adjust vol,,,,
Agree, a good case is the answer. Got a nice case of play.com. It's a exspect case paid about £6, bargin, kept mine safe for months now. Give a look...

This makes the volume rocker and frame look "rough", when I think that's just the camera and flash accentuating ribbed nature of the volume rocker (unless it's not? Lol). Anyway, does anybody else's look like this around the volume rocker? I can actually push it back in just a tad on the top side of the rocker, but not on the bottom.
If this is the way it is, well, so be it. If it's not, and nobody else has this issue, I'll be exchanging it later. I've done nothing to this phone but hold it in my hand and set it on my bedside table. The VZW rep put it in their black hard-shell case, which is very tight and hard to get off, but other than that, this has been babied during the whopping 16 hours I've had it.

Yeah mine does that a little bit, too. Didn't really notice it until you pointed it out, though. Been in the snug silicone case for 99% of the time.

Sorry I pointed it out then Like I said, if it's normal, I'm fine with it. I don't mind the way it sticks out a bit, it does bother me a tad that I can push it in and out above the rocker.
I noticed Droid Life's post yesterday comparing the Maxx and regular HD had some good camera shots. From overhead, it looks similar, but from a side/angle, it looks much more flush. Also had a couple of replies over in the Moto support forums by users who aren't seeing it at all.
That is not the way mine is. I have 2, and neither of them look like that. they are both flush with the frame and nothing sticking out. I'd say take it back and exchange it, just don't let them put it in a case. I have a white & black one and didn't see this issue with mine.

Mine is flush, sounds like you got a defective model. Take it back and get a new one. You've noticed it already, it'll bother the bejesus out of you the entire time you have the phone! And these phones are too awesome to hold anything against them from the start.
I believe the volume rocker should be sticking out and frame should be flush with the phone. Take it back man and don't take no for an answer.

Been having problems with my power button feeling a little too loose for comfort. It's alright when I try and click it and all, but it doesn't feel as solid as my home buttons or the volume buttons.

Samsung has been improving, but they don't really have the best build quality.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
yes. my first S3 had a bad radio so they sent me another. this replacement had a very loose power button and I had to insert little pieces of paper in my case (UAG) in the power button cutout for me to be able to push the button. this was still very finicky. still too hard to press, but an extra piece of paper made my phone constantly reboot. I finally called verizon and told them that my power button fell off (lie) and that I put it back in and it was all loosey goosey. they sent me another replacement and the button works great. no complaints now.

Well, I had one fall off, and I had one "CLN" (Certified Like New) come in with the power button in the bottom of the box and before I could get it working the volume rocker fell off. I'd have to say it was not a good day for glue in the re-certify facility! :silly: I shipped it back to them with both buttons taped to the back of the device.
I talked to a supervisor and had my phone replaced with a new one after three strikes. This one is working like a champ!
One thing: a lot of the better cases and holsters (like all the Otterbox models, for example) have 'captive' covers over both the power button and the rocker, so unless you're into changing batteries a lot or have a crack-flashing habit, you're probably saving yourself a bit of headache(s) by investing another $20-$35 in a decent case. Personally, after having an Otterbox "Defender" strapped onto my hip (previous Moto Bionic), I went with the "Commuter" series case this time. KoolKase makes a good holster for that model (Otterbox "Commuter"), but I've only seen it on ebay for about $10.
