Where did you order your 3G? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm planning on buying the International version of this device next week. Since it is 3G enabled, but I'm in the U.S. I have to order it. I've tried calling Samsung to see if I can order it directly from them but they said they can't. The only place I have found that I would trust is Amazon. I was wondering if anyone else in the states has ordered this from anywhere else or even bought the International version from a store.

Canadian Galaxy Note 3 Users

Welcome fellow Canadians!
Seeing as the Galaxy Note 3 is going to be released in Canada very shortly (October 4th), I figured we should get some discussion going on where you're buying, and any speculations to price points.
I just got off of a chat with Telus, regarding an email I had received, offering $50 off a device when you sign a contract, OR, stay month-to-month. So you can save a bit of money for those who are purchasing the phone outright, or even signing up for a new contract. You need to call a special sales line: 1-877-279-3900
Also, while she couldn't officially confirm, the rep did tell me that she would strongly suggest I go to a corporate store on Friday.. Obviously this is just in case there are shipping delays (doubtful) but I think that it's quite safe to say that it's coming out on Friday!
Currently, Wind Mobile is the only carrier to officially announce their pricing, but I think that it would be safe to say that the other carriers will be in line (roughly) with Wind.
- WIND 40: $449
- WIND 30: $549
- WIND 33: $549
- WIND 20: $649
- Outright: $749
I was also able to "confirm" with the rep, that the price point for Telus would probably fall around $799, so that isn't too far off of Wind's pricing.
Discuss anything related to the Canadian launch of the Note 3!
All I really want to know is if the bootloader will be locked like the US variants or did we escape it again like with the S4?
I will be getting mine outright from rogers.

I wonder how we'll be able to tell. I'm still on an S2 until Friday, but I don't think we ever had problems with the bootloader.

I just checked out Mobilesyrup's review of the Galaxy S2X and it had an unlocked bootloader. If the S4 had an unlocked one as well, I'd be very hopeful that the Note 3 is unlocked as well, only time will tell! 4 more days..

Good thing we only have 4 days left to wait!
On another note, how would one find out if the bootloader is unlocked or locked?
EDIT: Telus seems to have added the Note 3 as "Coming Soon" http://beta.telus.com/wireless/devices/samsung-galaxy-note-3/

Which International Model Works Best In Canada N900 or N9005?
Hi Guys
As the title states, which model works best in Canada specifically on Bell, the N900 or N9005 model? Also will I get full LTE with the N9005 model? I've tried researching them and keep finding different answers. Sorry if this topic has been covered prior. Just sold my Xperia Z Ultra C6833 to jump over to the N3. Or should I wait for the Canadian release on Bell which I believe is this Friday Oct.4th?
Thanks Again

Im having the same problem myself. Wondering which models will work on Rogers with LTE? Its difficult to understand the band and frequency numbers. I have never had to research a phone like this before I bought it. Some of the numbers match and some dont, does that mean it'll work? Or does it have to have every number matching?
But ya, my question is the same, will an unlocked N9005 LTE work on Rogers?
You can't quote me on this, but if you're looking for LTE, then the only version hat works would be the Qualcomm N9005. I believe the N9000 is the octa core 3G international version.

Hey AllGamer, nice to see you back from the Galaxy S2 days
I found the Wind Mobile pricing from Mobilesyrup: http://mobilesyrup.com/2013/09/28/w...laxy-note-3-on-october-4th-heres-the-pricing/
Bell also announced their pricing today as well, off contract: $799.95 (http://mobilesyrup.com/2013/10/01/bell-samsung-galaxy-note-3-to-cost-799-95-outright/). Which is right around the pricing that the CSR told me yesterday.
Does anyone know for sure, 100%, if the T-Mobile version of the Note 3 will work on Wind? Normally this is the case, but I ask because the T-Mobile version is the snapdragon model whereas Wind is going to be carrying the Exynos model.
I really want the dev support, and from what i gather, dev support is going to be none-existent for the Exynos version? Or is this maybe not going to be as accurate as it is/was for the S4? Or am i wrong about the S4 here too? I just remember reading and hearing that samsung doesn't release source code for the kernel etc for the Exynos chips - which i don't understand fully because I did read a few posts about how samsung had released the source for the Note 3 (or maybe it was the Note 10.1 2014) with the Exynos chip...
can anyone shed light on these issues for me?
Specifically, four questions:
1. T-Mobile Snapdragon phone on Wind Mobile? (Or any other snapdragon phones on Wind?)
2. How does the dev support look like it will be for the Exynos version that Wind Mobile is going to be selling?
3. Does the source code that samsung released for the Exynos model of either the note 3 or note 10.1 2014 mean that they are releasing more source code than they used to for their Exynos chips? Or was this stuff all released for other chips too?
4. Do you guys know if there will be a way to purchase the Note 3 outright from wind if you are not going to be on a new contract? I'm on wind already and i want to keep my existing plan because it's a better deal than any plan they have had since they offered this one, but i obviously want to buy this phone friday... i know with the S3 i had to activate a new plan, but of course then i just threw out the new sim card - worry here is that one wind guy told me that for the first month they may not even allow outright purchases only purchases on the wind tab, in which case i couldn't just throw out the sim card and use my old one could i?

I'm on Bell, everything is perfect. I have LTE coverage in my area but I can live without, no lte mean better battery and that what I need.

You might be able to get it from a Canadian retailer?
Yes, I just didn't know if I would need to go through a proxy to be able to order it. And I didn't know what they would say about the "ship to" being American.
Droid Turbo 2 will be a higher end phone. Perhaps it will have the same form factor with the processor power of the X Style / X Pure, a big battery and wireless charging. Everything the X Pure should be but wrapped in a hideous Droid skin.
In the same boat, was looking online at how to order and then ship to the US. There are certain services where you can "rent" a canadian address and then they will forward your mail to you - but by the time you pay the set-up fee and the forwarding fee, it seems overly costly. I did also try to order directly through Telus, but they require a Canadian address to ship to.
Anyone have any other ideas?
Mexico and Brazil Moto X Play variants are the same as the Canadian (XT1563). So we just need to figure out how to get one from any of these countries. I'm coming up empty though.
Wait for it to turn up on Amazon Canada and then just ship it to the US as Amazon Canada do ship to the US by the looks of it.

Using this now in Brazil. Coming from the Verizon Note 3 and Nexus 7 2013 and I'll say it's a decent phone but hardly spectacular (the screen in particular) if you are used to USA flagship phones. However it's nice to have two sim slots and an fm radio which are features almost unheard of in the States. Lollipop 5.1.1 is nice too!
Is the 1563 exactly the same in Brazil, Mexico and Canada in regards to LTE bands supported? There is a "BR apps" package on my phone, presumably exclusive to Brazil but I'm wondering if this is otherwise exactly the same as any other 1563.

According to Motorola's site, it's exactly the same for LTE bands.
Who did you buy it from in Brazil?
just a heads up, The Canadian Bell Version is locked to Bell! I tried my Rogers Sim and it wouldn't work, so you'll have to buy a Canadian version, then pay to get it unlocked. It's only available through the carriers in Canada. You cannot buy a retail\unlocked version, they're all only available thought carriers and locked to that carrier.

Thats a bit crap innit. I think for once we are lucky in the UK. We get both the Style and Play unlocked and Carrier free.
It will turn up on Ebay or Amazon carrier free eventually but could be a bit of a wait.

Bought from a Motorola kiosk in a mall for 1499BRL, which is $428 USD approx. 32 gb edition. Incidentally I noticed they had already sold out of them when I passed by there yesterday.
Possibly regretting this purchase as LTE band 13 is not available for Verizon, but will be available on the US edition of the Style ("Moto X Pure Edition") coming this Fall. Argh. I definitely like having two sims in one phone however.
Aside note, the new 3rd gen Moto G has a version here in Brazil that sports live TV and an antenna that allows FM radio listening without earphones. Why the heck can't we have those things in the U.S.! I digress.
I know one of the Canadian retailers told me that they feel like people will soon buy it with the unlocking fee (50), unlock it so any carrier in the US can use it and resell for a high value on eBay. :/. I know there is a way as long as you can get someone to buy it for you located in Canada! If anyone was looking to get one- feel free to message me! Would love to help someone out =)
Normally unlock codes turn up on ebay for a few Pounds here in the UK. I unlocked my brothers M8 for £2.50 by buying an unlock code from an ebayer.
It was easy ... I emailed IMEI number to the seller ... he then gave me a code. I placed a sim card (none carrier) then phone prompted me to put the code. Once I entered th code ... voila my brother had an unlocked phone.

$50 to unlock a phone seems pretty steep. if motorola doesn't play any games, unlock codes can be had for cheap on ebay.
ok i am setting up to order from sasktel wireless in canada. I work in logistics and have my warehouse their set to receive any phone i buy. I am setting up an account with sasktel and i will be buying a phone from them first. it is locked to sasktel but unlock codes could be had. Anyone interested in getting a phone aswell from canada? 16gb versions only but have sd support
with shipping to the lower 48 states we are probably looking at around $500 to import the phone total. Let me know if anyone is interested i will see if i can set it up

3g version coming; will it work with non Samsung phones?

The 3G version of this watch is coming in the next 2 weeks or so, and I am unable to find anything about whether or not you can use it with a non samsung phone..
I know the "non 3G" version works with most modern Android phones, and I know it will work with my Nexus 6..
My question is, does any one know for certain if I can use the 3G version, when it comes out, with my Nexus 6, or will the 3G version only work with Samsung phones?
I'm going to call Samsung tomorrow and ask, but I trust the folks here on XDA to know alot more than someone on their CS line will
Thanks!
It works just as the Bluetooth version does with compatible other phones.
do you have a link to the owners manual for the 3G model?
thanks
will it be able to connect blue tooth . i am on cricket wireless so not sure if i can add it to my plan
Anyone hear on the tmobile version tmobile hasn't sent the email out or Twitter or anyone from tmo will confirm
supposedly, you can call in today and order it, and stores in my area,(chicagoland) all say they should have them to sell Monday
Finely found a store that had it after 3 stores I got it
I called at least 6 stores, and none had it in suburban chicago; a couple said they should have them Monday, but I played it safe and ordered over the phone from T-Mo
Free over night shipping, and, you get 20 days to decide if you want to return it, vs 14 days when you buy in store..
I can wait one more day, at this point!
Yea messed up my account tho they cancelled my gear s for some reason I didn't want to add the new s2 yet because my gear s is at samsung for repair and didn't know if I wanted to keep the service on the gear s or s2 yet also they still charge u 15 for a sim when there's not even a sim in the damn thing

I have a Verizon model Great S2, never activated, only used via BT. Can it be activated in T-Mobile? Do I need to get it unlocked?
Thanks.

I'm also wondering about the radio. Do the different models have different modems, and since the Verizon one has a CDMA modem, is it incompatible with T-Mobile bands?
If you look at Network Mode you'll see WCDMA/GSM (auto connect) so I'm guessing you could, I would check to see if yours is the same, which I wouldn't be surprised if it was. I have a 2nd hand Gear S2 that was bought from TMO. Then again, what do I know since I was too chicken to buy a Verizon one to find out before buying the one I have.
OK, I live chatted with Samsung and called their support phone line. According to both, the carrier versions are carrier locked, and cannot be unlocked. So, no switching between carriers. They told me I'll need to buy another Gear S2 if I want to move to another carrier.
If the Verizon version is capable of LTE then it should be carrier unlocked out of the box just like their phones. It was part of the stipulation for them to be able to buy the extra spectrum they bought a while back.

Anyone tried to Verizon Gear S2 on a GSM network (AT&T or T-mobile)?
Just bought a Gear S2 for $99 refurbished and thinking maybe I should have bought GSM because or worldwide compatibility.
None of the Gear S2 have LTE which is carrier compatible. Verizon Sprint have CDMA 3G and AT&T and T-Mobile have GSM 3G.

International Unlocked S8 & S8+ In the US

Where are all the people that will be using the exynos variant in the US? I have been using international unlocked (F models) sammy phones since the s6 and I plan on sticking to this model. Where you guys ordering from? I usually get it from ebay (usually never-msrp) but it seems I might have to hold on a little longer as $970 for an 8+ is a little high.
I ordered from SamsungUK.. lets see if they honor the order.
i am checking into this place.

I have written to the samsung UK web page and they told me the sim free phone is "locked" to unnlocked you muts make a 5 minut call to a number but from the place the phone was intended to sell, the UK
When you do the checkout on Clove store, you can choose this option: "Samsung’s region lock stops use of this handset within your chosen country unless activated with a European SIM. I agree for Clove Technology to break the seal on the box, activate the phone and remove the region lock by completing a 5 minute call on the handset."

Clove is great and I ordered a S8+ from them too. I've ordered previous phones and accessories from them. They ship DHL overnight. Yes, EU phones are equipped with region lock to prevent them from being used outside their assigned selling region. You have to make a 5 minute phone call using a SIM from the phone's home region to unlock it. That's what Clove's doing for their international customers.
There are pros to buying from authorized resellers like Clove. EU phones have a two year warranty and Clove will act as a middleman on your behalf to get warranty work done if your phone ever needs it. You send it to them and they manage it through getting repaired and sent back to you. Having a "real" BTU phone is great for those that don't want to screw around with ODIN and multi-CSC to get updates. BTU is typically one of the first EU regions to get updates. We in the U.S. are lucky to get two for the life of the phone.
Only possible downside is getting Samsung Pay working since the framework isn't pre-installed as the UK doesn't currently support Samsung Pay. I've read the forums and some have gotten some of the features of Samsung Pay working on the S7-series but it's not a guarantee. I have a pre-order with AT&T and an order with Clove. I'm still debating which to go with primarily because I'm a heavy Samsung Pay user.

I've got a samsung watch and use samsung pay through it with a Nexus 6P. Think I would be able to do the same with the S8? I use android pay also, so not being able to use samsung pay would not be a deal breaker.
The thing has has me confused about clove is that the device seems to be good bit less expensive than anywhere else. Cost for the S8+ with shipping is only 665 GBP ($829) as opposed to 779 GBP ($971) from Samsung UK site. Is that correct?

When I selected US for shipping, it automatically deleted the VAT option and lowered to 665 pounds. What exactly is VAT and why would I want it?
Nevermind, I see it's a tax, but it removed itself when I selected the US.

Just a Newbee question here in regards to using the international models in the US. I am guessing that these international phone can only support GSM here in the US - no LTE on any US carrier.
I get that the international boot loader might be unlocked, and the international phones seem to come carrier unlocked. But if you don't travel international all the time and just live in the US - don't you guy miss the LTE speeds? Or is there any international models that support say ATT LTE bands?
The phone says it supports: LTE Bands 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(AWS), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 17(700), 20(800), 28(700)
And ATT Uses 2, 4, 5, 17 1900, 1700 abcde, 700 bc
So would the internation phone support ATT LTE?

Thanks for the education! I usually buy TMOB as in the past they have unlocked bootloaders and LTE works on ATT. But if I read the tea leaves correctly, TMOB might be changing that for the S8. I guess no one knows for sure yet for the S8, but generally speaking, have the boot loaders on past Sammy international models usually unlocked?
