Will CM10 or PA support Snote features? - General Questions and Answers

Hello!
I'm new to android wirh my galaxy note 2, and now feeling more comportable than iOS.
Furthurmore I'm satisfied with lovely Spen features and multiwindow.
I'd like to try CM10 based rom, especially PA, but I've heard that I can not use my Spen features and multiwindow.
Is there any chance to use those through the update?
p.s I can't reply on the development post.. thats wht I'm aaking here...

It will not. S-Note requires Touckwiz framework in order to work properly. Since CM10 and PA are AOSP based roms, any touchwiz specific apps will be broken when running those ROMS. I have heard that you can possibly get them to run, but with functionality so bare you are better off without it.
A good app to try is LectureNotes.

CyanogenMOD10 Stock Camera?

Is there any way to get the stock camera apk from the s3 to work on CyanogenMod10? I miss all the options of the stock camera apk
+1
There is no camera app in Jelly Bean to replace for starters. Also the ICS TW camera code is too integrated into the framework to be a simple fix. I'm also hoping someone comes up with something better than what we have now eventually.

need a rom maker to cross touchwiz with jellybean. would be nice to have the stock apps on the new android... stock camera, nfc, svoice, beam, wifi direct, etc
since samsung is working on updating the phone, i imagine this will happen on it's own in due time...

Yeah, January of 2013 for Verizon users!
You could always install a launcher overtop of a themed modded TW ROM like Bean's or Synergy's.

Samsung Smart Motions for cm10&MIUI

The use of cm10 and MIUi only involves jellybean. Pure vanilla..
Overall I have been satisfied for the fact of vanilla greatness of ICS on my fascinate before drawing to the sgs3.
Nevertheless, I love the vanilla-ness, but has anyone seen prts of the smart apps like smart alert the smart text-to-call available as an apk or a zip build?
I love the small factors of the stock touchwiz with these features. Has anyone found ports of these available through stock android?
For one I hate the calender app for stock
Any input will be appreciated if seen or not.

[Q] Request for TouchWiz calendar and phone port

I recently installed CM10 on my Blaze, and overall I love it, but there is one thing I miss. While I'm not a fan of most of Samsung's TouchWiz interface, I do like their calendar and phone/contacts apps. would it be possible to port these into CM10 as the defaults and use them instead of the built in CM10 apps?

Yes it would be great to run the TouchWiz calendar and contacts.
CM 10 is suppose to be the way it is, dr4stic isn't going to add or customize it to everyone's needs his job is to port it and make sure it works. Although there are ways of adding the touchwiz interface to CM no developer is actually going to take time for this, as few people request it. I have actually before ported certain parts of ROMs to other ROMs. Its a hard process as each ROM has its own unique code. If you are willing to try something like that feel free to message me, maybe I will be able to help you

The intention wasn't for someone to rewrite the ROM using the touchwiz apps. I was hoping that it wasn't difficult to port them over and install them like any other apk. I don't really know much about it so I wasn't sure if it was possible.

I'm sure its possible, but my gut says it would require a little coercing - with the likely target being edits to framework.jar. That's just a starting point guess though - these things are rarely as simple as they might seem up front lol.
I'd just recommend using the recently released default Google calendar app available from the play store.
If you've had a Nexus device it is the same as theirs... Hopefully you like it as much as I have.

[Bounty] Absolutely barebones, stock, pure Google ROM needed. No mods...

I'm hunting for a 100% pure Google, stock, barebones ROM for my S3. Not aokp, not aosp with this mod or that mod. Just a stock, pure replica of what is on my Galaxy Nexus. That's it. I can't compile it myself cause I don't have the machines otherwise I would. So, I'll pay someone to take those Nexus factory images and make them/it flashable on my GS3(for lack of better terminology).
That's not going to happen. Aosp is as close as your going to get.

So is this a bounty or you just putting up money for someone to do it for you. You might want to list what you are willing to pay.
Why not just run CM10? Even if someone builds a rom without the mods it will still have the same issues as all the other AOSP roms.
What is the benefit of this ROM?
Tweaks, bells, and whistles is much better.
I just prefer a stock experience. It is THE one thing I miss about the galaxy nexus. I don't know what kind of work, time or effort goes into compiling a rom but I'd pay what the dev assumes is a fair price.

You wont see this build anytime soon unless someone wants to personally make one for you. And honestly using CM10, you can disable all mods yourself with some simple googling or unchecking boxes.......
tiesfess the
AOSP is the closest you'll get. out of curiosity, why is this not suitable?

Would you be okay with a port of an AOSP ROM that has no mods? I'd like to help you out, but I don't really have the time to compile one from source right now. I can port AOSP pretty quick.

Dude AOSP is a 100% pure Google, stock, barebones ROM.
Sounds like you are one of those Vanilla Android snobs, that doesn't know what Vanilla Android is.
Have you even tried flashing CM10 or AOKP to see if you like them?
Don't know why you are against any Mods but most AOSP based roms allow you to disable mods pretty easily in the settings. If you really want someone to compile a totally "vanilla" rom, you should state how much your are willing to pay.
Otherwise just flash CM10 or AOKP and disable anything you don't like

Yea haha, I dont think the OP realizes that AOSP more or less CM. After all Cm is based on AOSP
AOSP is much more stable and sometimes tends to get better battery life. Sometimes people don't need crazy optimizations and features cluttering the ROM up.

This is true if you have a Nexus phone since AOSP is created to work on the NEXUS reference design.
However, for any other phone unless you have the manufacturers documentation(which Samsung has decided not to provide ), most of the time to get everything to work you have to use a workaround or even port some of the stock UI code to AOSP to get the phone to work.
As you probably already know there still isn't a "Vanilla Android" rom you can flash to the GS3 that has everything working with or without customization. In fact most phones don't have a pure "Vanilla Android" rom that works without any customization.
In terms of speed and stability, I'd argue that CM7.2 was as stable or more stable than most of the skinned manufacturer 2.3 roms. Eventually we'll get there with JellyBean
IMO "Vanilla Android" ignores Android's greatest strength, but if you really want "Vanilla Android" with no additions get a Nexus phone
The OP wants someone to compile AOSP from source for his GS3, he doesn't seem to understand that it would not function on his phone, because AOSP is designed to function on Nexus.

He wont ever have vanilla AOSP, EVER. AOSP needs to be hacked to work...... our phone isn't a google reference device for a reason.
Peter Alfonso Bugless Beast series is the main rom I've seen that was AOSP with a absolutely no mods. I've only seen a few builds not on a nexus though, like the Droid Incredible.

I know that... but you can compile pure aosp using the device and vendor files that your CM10 maintainers have created to compile AOSP which should function the same as it does on a nexus device except for device specific stuff.

I bet if you removed the CM stuff from a CM rom (wallpapers, build.prop, bootani) and modded the settings.apk to not show the cm settings panel the OP couldn't tell the difference.

Any way to get Samsung Camera App on CM or any AOSP ROM?

Just as the title suggests. Is this possible? I know the camera probably depends on touchwiz libs etc. but I really want CM but I love the camera on touchwiz. Is it possible to have an AOSP ROM or CM ROM with the stock camera? Thanks in advance!!

I believe it can be achieved, because some gapps have their own custom version of the cameras.
If you have the Camera.apk, try to overwrite the current apk after making a backup first, of course.
I asked this same question a long time ago and was told the framework involved would be to extensive. It does work the other way around though. 4.2 camera on touch wiz. I wish it could be done. Probably one of the biggest reasons I still use TW and not aosp

Thanks for reply guys. This is def the ONLY thing holding me back from switching to CM or any AOSP/AOKP ROM. I use my camera A LOT and the features on the TW camera are awesome, I can't give them up.
Yeah I think the camera is one of the main reasons a lot of us don't switch. It is for me. I haven't even tried aosp yet. I just know I'd miss the TW camera.
