[Bounty] Absolutely barebones, stock, pure Google ROM needed. No mods... - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I'm hunting for a 100% pure Google, stock, barebones ROM for my S3. Not aokp, not aosp with this mod or that mod. Just a stock, pure replica of what is on my Galaxy Nexus. That's it. I can't compile it myself cause I don't have the machines otherwise I would. So, I'll pay someone to take those Nexus factory images and make them/it flashable on my GS3(for lack of better terminology).

That's not going to happen. Aosp is as close as your going to get.

So is this a bounty or you just putting up money for someone to do it for you. You might want to list what you are willing to pay.
Why not just run CM10? Even if someone builds a rom without the mods it will still have the same issues as all the other AOSP roms.

What is the benefit of this ROM?
Tweaks, bells, and whistles is much better.

I just prefer a stock experience. It is THE one thing I miss about the galaxy nexus. I don't know what kind of work, time or effort goes into compiling a rom but I'd pay what the dev assumes is a fair price.

You wont see this build anytime soon unless someone wants to personally make one for you. And honestly using CM10, you can disable all mods yourself with some simple googling or unchecking boxes.......

tiesfess the
AOSP is the closest you'll get. out of curiosity, why is this not suitable?

Would you be okay with a port of an AOSP ROM that has no mods? I'd like to help you out, but I don't really have the time to compile one from source right now. I can port AOSP pretty quick.

Dude AOSP is a 100% pure Google, stock, barebones ROM.
Sounds like you are one of those Vanilla Android snobs, that doesn't know what Vanilla Android is.
Have you even tried flashing CM10 or AOKP to see if you like them?
Don't know why you are against any Mods but most AOSP based roms allow you to disable mods pretty easily in the settings. If you really want someone to compile a totally "vanilla" rom, you should state how much your are willing to pay.
Otherwise just flash CM10 or AOKP and disable anything you don't like

Yea haha, I dont think the OP realizes that AOSP more or less CM. After all Cm is based on AOSP

AOSP is much more stable and sometimes tends to get better battery life. Sometimes people don't need crazy optimizations and features cluttering the ROM up.

This is true if you have a Nexus phone since AOSP is created to work on the NEXUS reference design.
However, for any other phone unless you have the manufacturers documentation(which Samsung has decided not to provide ), most of the time to get everything to work you have to use a workaround or even port some of the stock UI code to AOSP to get the phone to work.
As you probably already know there still isn't a "Vanilla Android" rom you can flash to the GS3 that has everything working with or without customization. In fact most phones don't have a pure "Vanilla Android" rom that works without any customization.
In terms of speed and stability, I'd argue that CM7.2 was as stable or more stable than most of the skinned manufacturer 2.3 roms. Eventually we'll get there with JellyBean
IMO "Vanilla Android" ignores Android's greatest strength, but if you really want "Vanilla Android" with no additions get a Nexus phone
The OP wants someone to compile AOSP from source for his GS3, he doesn't seem to understand that it would not function on his phone, because AOSP is designed to function on Nexus.

He wont ever have vanilla AOSP, EVER. AOSP needs to be hacked to work...... our phone isn't a google reference device for a reason.

Peter Alfonso Bugless Beast series is the main rom I've seen that was AOSP with a absolutely no mods. I've only seen a few builds not on a nexus though, like the Droid Incredible.

I know that... but you can compile pure aosp using the device and vendor files that your CM10 maintainers have created to compile AOSP which should function the same as it does on a nexus device except for device specific stuff.

I bet if you removed the CM stuff from a CM rom (wallpapers, build.prop, bootani) and modded the settings.apk to not show the cm settings panel the OP couldn't tell the difference.

I wouldn't say its like cm7 it has a lot of different features, such as a fully customizable kernel (on EVO anyway; not sure if it'll be possible on NS4G). Very lightweight download, super fast. Not a lot of bulk like CM. I've used both CM and SZ for the EVO and id stand by SZ all day. Not knocking CM by any means though. Both are great ROMS. Just a matter of choice.

ok, ok. dont wanna argue. it obviously has the same features that set cm apart from aosp. hope to see this rom soon
OK, first of all, I need to point out that while SZ is NOT CM based, it does incorporate SOME of it's features. Both SZ and CM are based on Google AOSP code.
WiMAX is not a CM feature, it is Google code. We use the Google implementation of 4G in our ROM.
Other than the few CM mods we include, SZ has a set of it's own tweaks, mainly related to our tweaked kernel. We concentrate mostly on performance in our ROM, trying to made it less bloated and more stable than other AOSP variants. Right now, we have an extremely fast and stable 2.3.4 base which we will build an entirely different user experience on top of.
Our ROM does include the T-Mobile Theme Chooser so if you do not like our stock look, you can use ANY T-Mobile theme, 4 bar OR 6 bar. We modified the app for compatibility.
Once our ROM is released and works our kernel devs will be releasing a kernel for the NS4G which will really enable the full potential of the ROM.
Once released, check our ROM out. If you don't like it or miss some of the CM features, by all means please switch back. Just PLEASE don't complain that we are CM or that we are based on CM or we should incorporate this specific CM feature. We have worked really hard getting this ROM up to par for the Evo and will do the same for the Nexus S (when the time comes), but these kind of comments honestly just piss me off.
Look forward to supporting the ROM for Nexus S. Please be patient and let me get it working with my testers before I officially announce it.
Noah my raised hand was a vote for "yea."
And I ask of Devs, please dont turn this into a Nazi forum where threads are gobbled up by florid pissing contests. I saw one of the G Tablets best Devs peace because of that 'ish and its pathetic. More Devs equal more heads.
...and more head is never a bad thing.

What kind of comments piss you off? I think your overreacting TBH. Your rom may not be CM, but it has some of the same features. You say so yourself. If this is the kind of BS you and your "team" are bringing to the NS4G side, Ill pass. This has been a peaceful section so far. The evo section is a bunch of know it all hotheads and I could live without that ****. If someone making an observation about your rom really makes you that mad, maybe you shouldnt be dev'n.

Jesus dude, I was just saying that when people constantly say that we are the same thing as CM, it aggravates me. Don't start jumping down my throat, I'm not starting an argument. noahguz asked me to post in here explaining some differences and I did, that's it. I wasn't calling you out or starting crap over here, I get enough of that on the Evo forums, which is probably why I get annoyed when people say we are the same as CM.

What are some good AOSP roms?

I'm currently on CleanRom 4.5 DE. It's a pretty good Rom. Since the evo 4g I have never really liked Sense. I know with aosp roms you loose the camera quality. Any stable roms out that people would recommend?

Judging by your comment, you are not ready for aosp roms yet
Dont quote me on this but I'm pretty sure our custom sense ROMs are more stable than our AOSP ROMs. I'm a big fan of sense and to give up my precious sense camera is a hard thing to do, the AOSP ROMs arent far enough along yet for me to make that sacrifice. Just my opinion though
I'm pretty new to Android, but after having sense for 2+ months and just today flashing the CM10 beta in the original development forums, I must say I am very much liking it. True there are definitely some kinks to work out most notable to me the camera is different and speakerphone...but other than that, it is very fast and pretty stable. I'll definitely be following development and sticking to this for a few weeks minimum.
I haven't actually received my One X yet (I should next week) but what actually does change with the camera on AOSP ROMs? I'll probably be putting AOKP on it immediately when I receive it, so I was just wondering.

I personally am I fan of and use AOKP as my daily driver with very few problems. The down is the camera. To fix the problem I keep a back up of the latest sense ROM from XsMagical. So far everyone who has received a One X as a replacement for an S II i777 has received one with 1.85. I'm not even going to get accustomed to Sense. I'm immediately unlocking, rooting, and romming. I really love the pure Android experience since I've had it on my S II. Anyway, what changes does it make to the camera? Does it just change the software (filters, etc) or does it actually change the quality of the photos? Thanks!
AOKP is phenomenal. It is based on CM10, so it is VERY similar, but it is MUCH more customizable
are you getting wakelock issues? my phone on CM10 cannot get into a deep sleep so i'm debating aokp but see that some have similar issues.

Thanks for your feedback! This will be a jelly bean rom... However, I am planning on making this rom more of a "stock" android rom. I am leaving out touchwiz because in my opinion it makes many things slower and it just feels clunky to me. I will be trying to incorporate features from CyanogenMod, AOKP, CodenameAndroid, and maybe even a few from ParanoidAndroid. Kinda Crap's mods are intended for touchwiz based roms, so I will most likely leave those out, however I may try to include Pimp my Rom's features. When it come's to choice of Kernel, instead of making it a choice during install, I might just post links to the kernel's on the Rom's thread and give detailed instructions on how to flash each one (as well as the optimum setting in my opinion).

AOSP & data speeds

So I've been running CleanROM 5.6 for awhile and it hasn't been updated in awhile. I really want to give AOSP a shot but last time I flashed CM10, I had constant data drops, it was actually pretty bad compared to CleanROM. I was hoping to get some opinions on some AOSP ROMs, data stability being top priority. 4.2 would be great, however I'm ok with flashing an earlier release as long as data works as expected. Thanks

Well, I've used both liquid and carbon enough to run through the motions and the winner wound up being carbon. This is purely based on 4G lte speeds in my area (Philly, PA), I'm not saying one is better because they are both equally unique in their own way, I just tend to have a better signal with carbon, battery life and performance was pretty much a wash.
Hopefully this is useful to those in the same boat

If you want a 4.2 ROM and would like a hybrid, I'd go with PAC-Man ROM

Well, I've used both liquid and carbon enough to run through the motions and the winner wound up being carbon. This is purely based on 4G lte speeds in my area (Philly, PA), I'm not saying one is better because they are both equally unique in their own way, I just tend to have a better signal with carbon, battery life and performance was pretty much a wash.
Hopefully this is useful to those in the same boat

Carbon always worked best for me as well. My signal does seem to be significantly lower and data is slower than on tw roms though. But the AOSP benefits far outweigh the signal hit

I'm currently on Jelly Beans Build 12 and I absolutely love it. I don't know why but everytime I was on AOSP I found myself missing touchwiz. Although I go back and forth between Beans and Liquid. I loved some of the bells and whistles AOSP had but I keep finding myself coming back to Touchwiz. What are your ideas of the benefits that AOSP has. I find myself missing lock screen widgets and a few of the subtle things in the build.

I think AOSP far outweighs touchwiz in every aspect. TW does have some pretty neat features like gestures and popup widows, however AOSP just feels right, not hacked together like TW. Every Android device should come shipped with it. I don't really see the need for TW, Sense, Blur etc, besides corporate branding.. None of them can hold a candle to pure Google Android IMO.

I've noticed ever since going from a TW ROM (CleanROM 5.0) to an AOSP based ROM (Slim ROM, Carbon ROM, LiquidSmooth and currently ParanoidKANDdroid) that the data connection all around seems weaker than the TW based ROMS. For me all the AOSP ROMS mainained the same 4G speed, and had data drops in all the same areas. Some local area where I live I get great service/4g, others I have no 4g at all and am lucky to have any 3g on top of that. Only downside of the aosp based roms

Any way to get Samsung Camera App on CM or any AOSP ROM?

Just as the title suggests. Is this possible? I know the camera probably depends on touchwiz libs etc. but I really want CM but I love the camera on touchwiz. Is it possible to have an AOSP ROM or CM ROM with the stock camera? Thanks in advance!!

I believe it can be achieved, because some gapps have their own custom version of the cameras.
If you have the Camera.apk, try to overwrite the current apk after making a backup first, of course.
I asked this same question a long time ago and was told the framework involved would be to extensive. It does work the other way around though. 4.2 camera on touch wiz. I wish it could be done. Probably one of the biggest reasons I still use TW and not aosp

Thanks for reply guys. This is def the ONLY thing holding me back from switching to CM or any AOSP/AOKP ROM. I use my camera A LOT and the features on the TW camera are awesome, I can't give them up.
Yeah I think the camera is one of the main reasons a lot of us don't switch. It is for me. I haven't even tried aosp yet. I just know I'd miss the TW camera.
