why would a galaxy s i9000 suddenly become sim locked to any sim? - General Questions and Answers

This phone has been working fine for ages, unlocked with sim card from several different carriers and today, none. It gives a message to enter the sim unlock code upon bootup.

Unlocked rooted Captivate wont recognize sim

I sold a captivate to a customer in the Ukraine and when he puts his sim in the phone it does not work. I used the captivate unlocker program on the phone, it should at least recognize the sim card.
He made this video for me http://youtu.be/U28Y7uyeNVw
edit: he said he tried another sim and it worked
He has a bad Sim. It happens, usually from repeatedly taking it in/out.

[Q] Samsung Infuse stuck at unlocking sim

Hello,
A friend of mine brought me the Infuse from the US. It is rooted and unlocked ( he tried it with a card different than the AT&T and had no problem), however when I insert the sim card of any of my contrie's network providers it asks for a pin and then it starts "unlocking sim". I tried leaving it for the whole night, but it didn't work, also I tried removing the sim lock for the card from a different phone, but that did not work either- there is no unlocking sim massage, but I can't call or text. What could the problem be?

Got the same issue solved it by toggling airplane mode.
BTW every CM (7,9.10) have the same "unlocking sim" stuck issue with my Infuse 4g.

No network on G930FD Galaxy s7

I brought G930FD galaxy s7 in Singapore during my deployment. It worked fine with other countries sim card. Now i'm back in US tried to use my phone with Verizon sim card
and it didn't work. I got signal but there is no network connection, only Emergency call pop up for a minute then gone.
I tried to adjust the APN but didn't work. Also my phone kept saying "Refreshing Sim Card" couple times. I did some reseach if it's actually region lock but I couldn't find a straight
answer for it. I wonder if this phone is really region lock. If not then what could be a problem for it?

From what I know, in order to unlock the region lock, you have to make at least 5 minutes of phone calls in the place you got it. At least this is how it is with the European version I have.
Now about the network issues, if it wasn't a carrier version then it should be unlocked, meaning you can put any Sim card.
My bet, since it's from another country, is that you have to call Verizon and ask them to let it in their network.
I don't believe the G930FD supports CDMA...it is a GSM phone. This is means no compatibility with Verizon or Sprint. You need the US version of the S7 (with the Snapdragon chip) to get CDMA support.

[Help] S8 + PUK issue.

I got a Galaxy S8+ from Telus (Canada) Phone works great with Telus SIMs, phone is not black listed or anything. I am with Rogers, so I purchased a unlock code from https://www.mobileincanada.com/ , took like almost 2 weeks.
Code finally arrived. when i input the network unlock code, the phone right after asked me for a PUK. I figured Id get a PUK from both Telus and Rogers (knowing the PUK is attached to the SIM)
I entered the Rogers (Sim carrier) PUK and did not work, entered the Telus PUK (Phone carrier) and did not work ether.
SIM works fine with other phones, and the PUK is asked for with any SIM I enter.
Anyone know what might be happening? How to fix it?

PUK (Personal Unblock Key) is usually mentioned on the SIM card (The Bigger part) itself, and if you have not received it in the starter pack, You can always call up the network provider and ask for it. Also, Attempt first with just one sim in the slot to identify which one is asking for it.

PUK (Personal Unblock Key) is what i got. As mentioned , my carriers SIM card is the one asking for it... Its only the SIM from the phones carrier, telus that doesnt... every other carrier asks for it.
I have tried 3 different carriers. The PUK message appears each time. I was able to change my SIM cards PIN using the correct PUK.... The phone starts, boots up and then it tells me the SIM in not valid. Network locked I need a PUK.
