I brought G930FD galaxy s7 in Singapore during my deployment. It worked fine with other countries sim card. Now i'm back in US tried to use my phone with Verizon sim card
and it didn't work. I got signal but there is no network connection, only Emergency call pop up for a minute then gone.
I tried to adjust the APN but didn't work. Also my phone kept saying "Refreshing Sim Card" couple times. I did some reseach if it's actually region lock but I couldn't find a straight
answer for it. I wonder if this phone is really region lock. If not then what could be a problem for it?

From what I know, in order to unlock the region lock, you have to make at least 5 minutes of phone calls in the place you got it. At least this is how it is with the European version I have.
Now about the network issues, if it wasn't a carrier version then it should be unlocked, meaning you can put any Sim card.
My bet, since it's from another country, is that you have to call Verizon and ask them to let it in their network.
I don't believe the G930FD supports CDMA...it is a GSM phone. This is means no compatibility with Verizon or Sprint. You need the US version of the S7 (with the Snapdragon chip) to get CDMA support.

Did you have to unlock the phone to do that?
I called AT&T and they said that they don't have the unlock code since they don't even sell the device, but that it works on sims outside the US. She seemed to imply that it won't work on tmobile but that if I go outside the US, and just put a sim in, it will work without me having to unlock the phone in anyway.
Can anyone verify this?
Thanks

Most customer service representatives are pure idiots .... Nexus S is a Google phone , so it's factory unlocked to any SIM card you use with it(you may or may not get 3G on other networks depending on the other network 3G frequencies , and if the forgein network has 3G on 900/1900MHz it will have 3G on this Nexus S)..
Hope this helps..
Well I went to tmobile and the guy put in a sim into the phone and the phone got no reception nor did it seem to recognize the sim at all.
So it seems that it isn't unlocked.
I tried putting in this code: *#7465625#
Its supposed to tell you if the phone is unlocked or not, but nothing happens, it just says: Connection problem or invalid MMI code.
I don't need it to work on tmobile, but I do need it to work on foreign simcards. And I saw on other forums that for some people it worked on tmobile and others it didn't so there doesn't seem to be any clear answers.

you have another issue here , check your phone
Thanks for the response.
What do you mean by other issue and how should I be checking my phone?
In any case, I put in a simcard that my brother gave me which I believe is from Mozambique on a carrier Vodacom. It asked for the code of the sim when I put the phone is as always, and so I got in putting in 0000.
It then showed no connection to anything whatsoever, also as always.
Keep in mind I did have wifi on.
Then all of a sudden it asked me to update my phone and install something. So I just said yes and it updated and rebooted.
All of a sudden I have bars here and there and it recognizes that tmobile and AT&T are in the area. I also saw I think at the top of the notification bar when I pull down the notifications tab, it said Vodacom. Of course I get no reception whatsoever but that is expected, this sim was a gophone sim in Mozambique.
Does this mean that its unlocked if it is recognizing another sim, even though no confirmation of reception? I plan to try again with tmobile now and perhaps make sure I have wifi connection while doing so and leave it in for longer.
Thanks and please let me know if you have any thoughts.
what ROM you're on now?stock or costum one ? you also might consider a FULL phone wipe.because this might be caused by a difference between at&t apn or other Sim data and the other .check for that
I'm on stock 2.3 that the phone came with. Haven't messed with it at all.
So I assume you saying that if I want to switch to another sim, I should do full phone wipe then? so that the at&t apn doesn't confuse it?
IF it doesn't work with tmobile again, I will try taht, and I will also try to learn what an apn is.
Thanks for the help.
Might work or might not !!! backup all your data and apps first then use the shotgun method lol
But what I am sure of is that Nexus S phones are always unlocked and SIM free..
Hello all.
I have received a Note 4 910v (Verizon Carrier) as gifr and the phone was factory reset and i inserted an Orange Sim From Mauritius......I got no signal bars as i inserted the sim.
The phone was on 5.0.1 and i update to 5.11 and hoped that i would be getting a network signal from it...But still nothing... I then rooted the whole phone but still nothing.
I read somewhere if i activate the phone with a verizon sim card the problem will be resolved.
If i puchase a new verizon sim card on ebay and try activating the phone without making anycalls....will it work as i wont be getting Verizon signals here in Mauritius.
I have the SM-G930FD, carrier unlocked from UAE. It's got the stock android 6.0.1 on it. I bought this phone from NewEgg in the US specifically to take with me to Asia so I can have a Thai SIM for data and my US number available for texts, and also for data when I'm outside of Thailand (yay for T-Mobile and free texting/2G internet). I just got to Thailand yesterday and the dual sim functionality is NOT working
Same issue as reported in the GS7 EDGE version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/s7-edge-duos-data-connectivity-problems-t3349324 - but I don't see any reports of it happening on the regular GS7
More info:
Slot 1: Thai SIM card (I tried two different carriers)
Slot 2: T-Mobile SIM
I set EVERYTHING to use the Thai SIM, and have both SIMs turned ON. Everything works fine for a few minutes, and then BAM, Internet stops working! It says not connected whenever I try to load a webpage, etc. etc. The phone shows The Thai SIM for voice and text, BUT now it shows the T-Mobile SIM for data, EVEN THOUGH if I go back to the Sim Manager, it clearly has the Thai SIM set for data. And obviously it's not pulling data from the T-Mobile SIM or I would have (slow) internet on the phone. The only way I can fix this is to go to the SIM manager and switch to the T-Mobile SIM for data and then switch back to the Thai SIM. The only problem is that this fix could last 30 seconds, or it could last an hour.
In the thread referenced above, there was no definitive fix. Someone said install the Italy or France Firmware, but others say it didn't work for them.
If I turn off the T-Mobile SIM altogether, the Thai SIM's data is steady. But the purpose of this phone is to have dual sim!
The only other thing of note is that when I go to the SIM Manager screen, it shows my US number for my T-Mobile SIM, but it shows "unknown" for my Thai SIM. I checked the APN settings and they all look good.
Could this be a hardware issue that some people are experiencing? It's too late to return the phone :-/
Same Issue
Hey there. I have a G930FD from UAE and I'm having the exact same issue. I'm getting ready to push SUPERMAN ROM on to it to see if that might fix it. Such a pain.
Just wanted you to know you're not alone.
Samsung Galaxy S7 UNLOCKED (I bought it unlocked from an AT&T supplier) g930u
just randomly went to use my phone only to find I cannot. Only wifi. Airplane mode won't ever turn off (completely?).
Yes, I have tried to RESET EVERYTHING.
I searched for help all day. To no avail. Only thing I can think of now is to throw the phone in the trash or flash a new rom? Yes, I even tried this https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41777704&postcount=50
Apparently I don't actually have wifi calling, but when I disconnect from wifi-it shows wifi calling but won't let me change it? WTF is that? (screen shot below)
All symptoms still point to be carrier locked to me, either that or your SIM card is broken. That little cross symbol next your alarm is when no SIM is detected, or it's not a supported SIM.
SIM works in another phone? If you boot into download mode what model does it say it is, they didn't accidentally sell you a G930A?

I was wondering if it could be that. I have another Sim Card for another carrier I can try, I was waiting to make sure it was not the phone before I tried it. (It effectively switches my phone service once i activate it -which is why i was waiting)
Download mode confirms it is a G930U
Hi All. I have unlocked a T-Mobile Note 20 ultra and popped a Verizon sim it it. I have been having issues. First of all right off the bat I noticed that the T-Mobile boot up logo never went away. Previously I've noticed that once I put in a different carriers sim card all the previous apps and bootup screen would get replaced by the new carrier. This did not happen.
There was another issue that I had where it would take 20-40 min to register to the network Everytime I would restart the phone. I solved this by restricting permission to the carrier hub app.
I mainly want it to say Verizon on start up. Anyway to do this
You can either force a CSC change or download and flash the Verizon firmware. There are guides on here.
Having the same issue with my t-mobile variant.
It's unlocked but I cannot get thr CSC to change no matter how I flash it or what Sim I put in.
It's TMB/TMB/TMB.
About to sell it and stick with my pixel
Did your ever get this resolved?
