[Q] Using this ROM and the update and other thoughts - General Questions and Answers

Since I can't post in the ROM dev due to my lack of posts, I wanted to say to developer that I have Sabsa Prime v8.0. The wifi works fine but on the home screen the MENU option does not. Not a big deal at all. So I get the Sabsa Prime v8.5 which has a fix for wifi not working and the MENU on home screen fixed. Load the rom fix and to my surprise, wifi is not not working, MENU on home screen is working and the phone took 45 minutes to fully boot. Reflashed my radio hoping that would fix and nothing....so back I go to Sabsa Prime v8.0. with wifi working and MENU on home screen not working.
How does one as a nwby get this type of info to the developer......I read through pages and pages....but no one had this issue with the updated rom?
I am a novice to smart phone, but not to building software.....albeit known as dinosauer developer I have learned some coffee(comes from the JAVA bean for those not in the know) along the way, but very good at what I do. I have bricked my phone, unbricked, and now using Sabsa Prime which I like. It has about the same battery drain as Rev6.33 of 1% every 2 hours idle (from what I have read I am lucky on that, but maybe not). I have found that video (Dice Player) plays at a drain of 18% an hour with MP4 formats and I get 16% an hour burn for FLV......which is interesting.
Previous roms, would be AT&T ginger bread 2.3.3 stock and Rooted, 2.3.5 stock from AT&T. Rooted that and downgraded, then Rev6.33, Rev7.04, CM7.2ace, and now Sabsa Prime (ICS 4.03.) Same radio on each rom.
Phone Specs
HTC Inspire 4G with Sabsa Prime v8.0
Radio is 12.69a.29U_26.17.14.11_M
RIL is 2.2 that was associated with the radio.

[Opinion][Updated]Inspire Best ROM (I tried them all)

I got my Inspire on release day at 11:00am when BB opened and by 3pm i ran the ace hack kit and it was rooted and had a DHD ROM flashed on the phone. For the first week there was not a whole lot of ROM's or options, but week 2 and 3, they popped up like a bag of popcorn.
The first set of ROM's and kernels (Desire HD ROM's) left people with dingy sound, no you-tube or any video support at all for that matter. Other people experienced Wi-Fi problems as well. Different fixes and patches came out fixing most problems, except sound seems to be the biggest headache trying to find the right combination of audio settings, drivers, etc.
My favorite ROM was CoreDroid, basically because the theme is beautiful, but no matter what radio/kernel I used It took literally 15 minutes to get a satellite lock. I tried faster fix from the market, I went into the system to make sure it was set to North-America and not Europe nothing worked.
Android Revolution is another awesome ROM, however, I had Wi-Fi issues. "Obtaining IP Address" is as far as it would get before finally disconnecting. Once again I flashed different radios and kernels and still no go.
What I finally kept is the Stock ROM Optimized Rooted and to make this ROM super responsive I used LeeDroid's 1.8Ghz Kernel. I use SetCPU and keep it at 1.267Mhz. (1.6Mhz when playing games or multitasking. Never locked up) I can open my app drawer and give it one flick, and i can watch 90 apps zoom by in less then a second with no hesitation ever. It's very fast, very smooth, no force closes, Gps hits 9 satellites in less then 15 seconds we have full lock, mobile data is 3.8 down, 2.2 up (average) bluetooth file transfer works, and voice activated dialing, sound is perfect, and for people looking to tether, just get wireless tether from the market. It does Wi-Fi and bluetooth. I tethered to my playstation 3 just to see how well it would do a HD netflix stream, and it was flawless. Never had to stop to buffer.
I'm also on the stock radio which is 06.04.06_m, Everything is so smooth and perfect I see no need to change until AT&T releases there version of gingerbread and it has ROOT access. The problems I have had with different ROM's are isolated and doesn't mean your going to have the same problem. It's weird but that's how it works. 2 exact phones, both running same setup, can have 2 totally different problems. Just the way it is in Flashing Land.
I'm no Pro, just giving my opinion and facts with my particular unit. The different ROM's seems to be like the captivate. You gain something, you lose something.
Super Circle Battery Icon works great as well. Get it here
3/16/2011 - Version 2 flashed without a glitch. Wireless, Gps, mobile data, all work as well or better. I also flashed LeeDroid's 2.2. 6 o/c kernel and everything is dead on. Great Job
That's all I want to do it root it, increase the volume and get wifi tether working. Right now if you want to not have any drivers issues it seems like the current on the phone works best Thanks for the info!
I also wanted to increase the cpu speed, did you take much of a hit on the battery?

Not at all, it last all day. Put SetCPU on "ondemand" and when I'm not using phone for awhile I simply type *#*#4636#*#* and set is to GSM only and that's another way to save a lot of battery. I also use a app called easy switch where I can turn off mobile data completely when not in use. I have awesome battery life.
i've been using the cm7 nightlies. i don't particularly enjoy htc sense and rather prefer the aosp style android.
I too am loving the Stock ROM Optimized-Rooted-etc. I've only tried it and a build of CM7, which seemed not quite as smooth as the aforementioned ROM. Additionally, whenever I played the game Rush Hour and got a perfect score, it would always force close [not a problem with the stock-optimized ROM].
I am considering trying LeeDroid's kernel on top of Stock-optimized ROM to boost performance a little more, but I'm a little unsure about the process. Do I just copy his kernel to my sd card and then flash it in CWM Recovery using the "install zip from sdcard" command? I assume a similar technique is used to install the super circle battery mentioned in the OP?
I don't see RCMix HD in the OP. I've been using 3.4 and it's solid. If you look at the thread there's hardly any complaints.
Great write-up. I've been thinking about starting a thread asking developers/users to give a quick description of popular ROMs and go over the pros/cons. It's kind of difficult to sift through 200+ pages of discussions about each ROM and get a clear idea what it's like. Thanks for throwing your 2 cents in. I've been happy with the stock rooted ROM, but I've thought about trying out a couple of others, maybe Revolution, if anyone wants to through 2 more cents into the pot.

I really like the Stock Rom Optimized Rooted as well. I'm not getting as high upload speed as you are, but about 4 times higher than I was getting out of the box. And everything is very smooth onscreen as you mention.
I like Hybrid1.72.zip battery icon with it.
I haven't tried overclocking yet, but after reading your post, that is my next project!

does mobile hotspot work right off the spot without any setting changes?
Im building a rom/kernel now based off stock Rom and compiling kernel from inspire source. Already got the extended power menu done, hopefully it'll be out in a few days. Not sure if the kernel will be done or not but hopefully I can get it out at the same time as the Rom.
+1 for Optimized Stock Rom. I liked Android Revolution, but my Inspire would take 10-15 minutes to get a GPS lock. With OSR, I get lock in 15-30 seconds. No downside to this ROM at all for me!

Nice. I used your Captivate ROMs and had great results. I guess I know the next ROM I will be flashing.

I also still use one of your Roms and will without fail try one in the Inspire when you finish cooking!
Right now I'm undecided and switching between Revolution 4 Beta 2 Gingerbread and twopumpchump's Stock optimized with LeeDroid kernel. I'm getting better download speeds with the latter option but both are exceptionally good roms.

Any chance Call Record will work in the Inspire as it does in some of your other roms?
Have you tried the gingerbread test radio?

[Q] overheating issue

im having an issue when i play games on the sensation, it gets really hot down where the bottom keys are (home, back, search, menu).
i didnt have this problem when i was running AHRD ICS 4.0.3 (6.0.2)
once i upgraded to the 6.5.0 i started having these issues
i had 1.7ghz kernel running on both versions and for some reason since i upgraded to the 6.0.5 i started having overheating issues.
the phone will get really hot and keeps restarting and freezing, so i take out battery let it cool off and it works fine again.
the battery never gets hot, when i take it out the phone is hot but the battery is still at normal temp.
it happens when i play dead space, rs2012, monopoly, etc.
is this a known issue?
someone please help, thanks
Kernel is failing which causes the reboots.
Try flashing a stock compatible kernel?

Reboot When Called

Is anyone else experiencing this? I get it on Viper 2.2.0 using beastmode, elemental and stock kernels. BM and Elemental were both max 1.7, min 192. I have completely wiped everything, including sd and did a fresh install of viper 1.2.0 up to 1.2.4 with elemental kernel with no issues. Bumped up to 2.2.0 and installed elemental. I made a few test calls and it seemed to be ok then a few hours ago my gf called and it was back. Every single call my phone reboots..Anyone have any ideas? I had been using 2.2.0 for over a week then it just started doing the reboot thing yesterday. I'm currently wiping everything and rolling back to either 1.2.4 or king cobra 1.5. It's so frustrating because I was getting the best battery life I've ever seen on my phone with the viper 2.2.0 beastmode 4.3 combo. All helpful thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
I've not run Viper, but I have the same experience with any of the JB roms. Its even worse with custom kernals, so you might try it without. Just an idea.
After trial and error (flashing, setting up my rom a few changes at a time, test calling to see what breaks calling, wiping..rinsing and repeating) til 5 in the morning I think I've finally figured out my problem.
Turns out for me it wasn't a kernel issue at all, or even a rom issue for that matter. I love the aosp lock screen way more than sense so I would un install the HTC lock screen with tibu; that was fine, no reboots. Then in venom tweaks>lock screen I enabled aosp lock screen...still fine. Then lastly I enabled aosp call work around and bam! Reboots every time! I disabled the work around and have not had a single reset and I've probably made around 15 test calls just to be thorough lol.
I've tested while locked, unlocked, on the lock screen, while browsing, watching YouTube, rebooted then tested...I hope I'm not jinxing myself here but by jove I think I've got it. My settings from a clean wipe are viper 2.3.1, stock radio, beast mode 4.4, max 1.7, min 192, no gpu over clock, mp decision on, s2w off, intilidemand governor. So far everything has been humming right along and working like a charm.
I can't believe I overlooked something so simple and immediately pointed the finger at the rom and kernel when it was my own damn fault lol. Sorry to make so much clutter in the thread but hopefully it can help someone having the same issue.

[Q]Fixing wifi crash/reboot; G2X-SINGH-UI is AMAZING

Hello everyone, I have been enjoying my G2X with SINGH-UI thanks to all the work of this community. I just have one problem, however...
Every time I toggled the Wi-Fi subsystem my G2X would hang or reboot. e.g If I turned Wi-Fi on then off, the next attempt to turn it on would crash. If I turned Wi-Fi tethering on then off, the next attempt to turn it on would crash etc. The Wi-Fi and/or tethering worked flawlessly when it succeeded in activating. This problem just guaranteed that the next time I'd try to do anything with Wi-Fi, my phone would crash.
I wasn't sure if there was a solution because most people were talking about Wi-Fi calling not working, data not working, Wi-Fi not working at all, etc. As per nycelitemaster's recommendation, I installed Trinity's ELP kernel then installed my kernel. This seemed to have helped a little bit but the problem arose once more.
Since I can't post in the developer thread yet, I thought I'd just post here to say thanks and present this little tip/question. Sorry for posting before an exhaustive search; perhaps in the wrong place, but I couldn't contain my curiosity and appreciation. Is this problem common and does it have a definite solution?
I am currently running the latest baseband (v21y) with matching RIL and LOVE it. Everything works; I get a few rare force closes but the system remains active and I can restart apps successfully. It is stable, fast and very pretty with MIUI themes. I also like the battery life with Faux123's P999-CM-Kernel-054-sv-lg-stable. I get about 12 hours standby on a 3500mah extended battery which is pretty good considering I have to be 3G only on my Mobile network (Mobilicity, Canada).
- I'm using Antutu CPU Master to set CPU powersave speeds; I noticed higher benchmark results after purchasing the full version.
- I did battery calibration by manually deleting battery stats in Clockwork Mod recovery.
- I'm enjoying figuring things out! It's been a wonderful journey nurturing my phone from the state it was in when I bought it used.
I'm not sure whether the new Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean ROMS are complete yet so I'll stick with my current one because it's working amazingly well.
My initial disappointment with this phone has turned to satisfaction. Thanks to everyone for keeping the G2X alive in spite of the manufacturer(s) abandonment.

[Q] Which ROM for my HTC One Mini

Hi all!
I want to change the ROM of my HTC One Mini (currently 4.4.2 Stock, Bootloader unlocked, rooted) for install something more light and fast.
In my HTC sometimes i can see lags even in the home screen, moving from a page to another.
And i also have a big battery drain, even without 3rd party apps that consume battery. Currently i'm using only 2G (i locked 3G) and i turned off the backlights of buttons to save some energy, disabled apps like facebook etc, low brightness...but if i disconnect it from the current at 8 am he will have 50-40% at 4pm with a medium/low usage.
So, returning to my question, which is the better ROM for me?
No one?

No one can help me?
I've only used the stock based roms on here, not cm11 or other. But from my experience I found stock 4.3 to be the best in speed and battery. The main thing to do if your rooted is to delete system apps you don't use. Do some research on what's good or not to remove. Apps like Greenify can help. Personally I don't think you battery results are that bad. As long as you can reach the end of the day without charging your doing ok. Can't see another Rom giving you double battery life.

Ok
I will try stock 4.3 so!
thanks
I've got one mini for 5 months now and belive me i tried a bunch of roms. Right now i am on 4.4.2 sense 6 rom, which works perfect except whatsapp issue (you need exactly 2.11.226 version to work) and there is no "show recent apps" when you double tap home button, but that can also be solved with app called "swipe home button''. That is if you want to stick with stock based roms and sense, but get something new.
You could also try cyanogenmod, but as its still nightly i've expirienced some bugs, and found the "Codename Lungo" better working, which is also based on cm11.
In my opinion these cm based roms could help with your battery drain but they certainly have more bugs that stock based ones.
If you feel like experimenting, you could try this new pacman rom, i havent tried it yet. Anyway here are the links to threads:
