[Q] overheating issue - HTC Sensation

im having an issue when i play games on the sensation, it gets really hot down where the bottom keys are (home, back, search, menu).
i didnt have this problem when i was running AHRD ICS 4.0.3 (6.0.2)
once i upgraded to the 6.5.0 i started having these issues
i had 1.7ghz kernel running on both versions and for some reason since i upgraded to the 6.0.5 i started having overheating issues.
the phone will get really hot and keeps restarting and freezing, so i take out battery let it cool off and it works fine again.
the battery never gets hot, when i take it out the phone is hot but the battery is still at normal temp.
it happens when i play dead space, rs2012, monopoly, etc.
is this a known issue?
someone please help, thanks

Kernel is failing which causes the reboots.
Try flashing a stock compatible kernel?

[Q] 2.3.4 Roms causes overheating?

Everytime I flash a 2.3.4 Rom (All CM7 Nighty's and MIUI), my phone seems to overheat. I kept it stock kernal at first, then I tried both faux's and morfics UV kernals and that didn't help either. But when I revert back to Froyo, it doesn't heat up at all.
Any experiencing the same?
Yup samething here. I experienced that with the new eagleblood rom and the new gingerbread leaked update. I notice that whenever i get overheating the phone automatically shutdown. Funny enough a tmobile rep persuaded me to buy a new battery by telling me that the one I have right now is faulty and is what cause the random reboots and shutdowns. Do you experience any of those issues with your phone as well?

No reboots, No blackscreens, it just gets really hot in the back whenever a 2.3.4 rom is running.

Constant data usage.

Hi everyone, so the other day I flashed the latest sky ice cream (6. 7z) with the latest faux (skyrocket) kernel. Then I noticed that my phones battery was dieing at an alarming rate. (this is also after a ton of issues came up with my phone). Last night I did a nabdroid restore to when I first rooted the phone so stock kernel and stock rom and everything was working great, although I didn't spend enough time to see if the phone was acting up but in setcpu, I did notice the fact that the phone did enter deep sleep.
I am now running red Sonia and yes I did flash fauxs ultimate kernel and now for the hours that I've had it disconnected, the entire time that I haven't been playing with it, the phone has been running at 300MHz.
I'm not at home currently but is there some way that I could diagnose what's going on in terminal? Or some type of logging I could run to see what's running my phone into the ground??
Any way thanks in advance for reading this, and I hope this issue can be resolved.

It was k9, there is a bug with it that makes it do a constant poll. If anyone is interested on the Google Code site for k9, its issue number is 3678.

[Q] Random vibrations and weak Wifi reading- sky ICS (4.1)A-3

Hello there everyone. I recently flashed seanzscreams sky ICS leak rom. Everything seems to be in working order.
However there are two problems for me at least:
1. The wifi indicator never indicates a strong signal even if I am standing right next to the router.
2. There are random vibrations occurring when the phone is asleep or when I unlock it to do something. I thought that this was just google music vibrating to tell me its switching songs, but It happens randomly as well as then.
Just wondering if anyone else is getting this issue, and if so, should I try re-flashing even though Im not getting and FC's. I will fix permissions and post results.
Phone stats:
Version: 4.0.3
Baseband: I727UCALC4
Kernel: [email protected]#1
Build number: SKy ICS 4.1A-3

I have the EXACT same problem. Both of them in fact...

I believe it is due to any specific program that hasn't been optimized for ICS or the ROM itself, because I don't experience it, but I've heard of such problems on all ICS roms
I think it's from things force closing in the background.
I've been having the same issue, but I'm pretty sure it's due to the AOSP lockscreen. If you can tell Play Music glitches on the lockscreen and incorporates its self with Samsung locks screen. So definetely some sort of glitch going on.

All of the ICS ROMs suffered from the same 2 things mentioned. My WiFi signals were much weaker than on any GB ROM unfortunately.
I removed AOSP lockscreen and am still getting the random vibrations. Mine seem to be coming from the CM9 music app.

Hey everyone, how about trying out a different kernel?
For me, I switched to Romracer's kernel for ICS and I have no random vibrations or apps FCing in the back ground. You can also try Mohan's kernel as it seems to be better suited for AT&T.
When flashing the kernel always do a nandroid, but wipe both cache and davlik (its under advance.) Then after the kernel flash is complete just let the phone sit for a couple of minutes to make sure that everything settles into memory properly.
Something else that I noticed yesterday, I was doing a ton of memory wipes, (taking screen shots for different themes...) but my data connection was patchy as hell. Random drops and disconnects even though I was in Downtown of my city. Any way long story short you just need to let your phone settle down its been about 12 hours since my last cache & davlik wipe and my data connection seems to be holding properly without any further adjustments.

Increasing number of problems Sensation

Hi Guys,
I've had my Sensation for nearly half a year now and there are multiple problems which are starting to annoy me now:
1. Since i've been using ICS my problems have grown quite a lot. i've been having random reboots lately. out of nowhere I try to wake up my screen and then I find out that my phone has gone off and it will start rebooting.
2. my phone has become increasingly slow, starting from about 10 minutes after a cold boot. starting applications is taking much longer and loading websites would go faster on a 3300.
3. my biggest issue with my phone now is the increasingly wake up times for my screen. upon startup everything works fine, but after half an hour the lagg between pressing the top right button and the screen turning is growing up to a minute. then Sense is taking hours to get my screen as it should be.
I'm using a stock version of ICS (4.0.3, Sense 3.6) and haven't rooted or unlocked. this is the base phone that has been updated.
I have done a hard reset but yet still the problems occur. Since the hard reset i've only installed a few basic apps which have been one my android phones since years(Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
Is there anyone that has been having the same problems and was able to fix this? i'm getting hopeless using the phone at this point.
Thanks anyway,
Jeroen
Try a custom rom. In my experiences the stock roms were very unstable but custom roms have been good to me

Hi before I rooted I was having the random reboots, A LOT very aggravating and every time I'd go to a new task it would happen! I can HONESTLY say since I've rooted s off custom Roms that has NEVER happened again! I'm convinced custom Roms are more stable than stock issue! I'm running sense 4.0, Android 4.0.3, ice cream sandwich, no problems here. I'm now running ordroid Rom .8.7.0. Lots of customisation available, more than stock by far! I don't regret rooting for a second! It cured all those stock problems for me. It might be something you want to read about. Or actually do. All I know is I remember the stock problems and I'm so grateful I don't have to deal with them anymore, especially the random shut downs! I wish you the best .hope this helps in some way.

Random reboots
You should look into custom ROM's also you should download a battery life and temperature indicator, especially if you're on stock battery and ROM the phone gets very hot, and like a laptop will shut down itself due to dangerously high temperatures, anything above 80-83 degrees Fahrenheit normally causes reboots, sometimes without you even noticing, also check out anker battery I found personally that my phone ran cooler with that battery
If those last three responses weren't enough, stock is riddled with issues. HTC really dropped the ball on their last flagship. That being said; ROOT. SRSLY, ROOT > CUSTOM ROM. DO IT.
Alright then,
thanks for the replies!
i will switch to a custom rom whenever i have the time!
i'll keep you posted.

[Q] Reboot on OpenGL in ICS Roms

Hey,
do you also have reboots, when playing openGL games on ICS? I tested an old Gingerbread Rom (1.50.401.1) and havent had any reboot about a week! Did someone also have these results or are there any fixes for this? I found nothing in this forum.
Max
Hey,
I did some further research now:
I tested following ics Roms:
CM 10.1 from albinomen with 3.33 and 3.32 firmware
Official CM 10 nightly
Official CM 9 stable
latest stock ics ROM without root (installed via ruu)
All roms are working good on normal use (Facebook, whatsapp, etc.)
But when I play a game that uses OpenGL (I think nearly all good looking games use it) the phone gets hot and after a while it freezes and reboots then. Sometimes it reboots about 5 times directly after the crash (maybe cooling down). I don't have overclocked nor undervolted.
I thought my phone is damaged but then I installed an gingerbread ROM and don't have any reboots so far (phone gets hot but doesn't reboot). The only thing anoying me on gingerbread, is that you can't pull down the status bar on the lockscreen (or is there a way?). Has anyone else got this experience or do I really should send my phone to HTC?
Best

How old is your phone? Not each phone is equal. Maybe the issue is not opengl related. If you play games and the phone is getting hot and reboot at last, it maybe be hardware related. Have you try do undervoltage a little bit such as -25mv or -50mv which is almost safe for most of phones. Or you may try to lower the CPU frequency a little bit when play games via system or CPU tuning software.

Hi,
I bought my phone about 1,5 years ago. I tried underclocking (1000 Mhz and 800 Mhz) and undervolting. I bought a new battery (anker). I would say somthing is damaged, but why is Android 2.3 running without problems?
