I was going to update my Nexus 7 with 4.2, but people are saying it's buggy and 4.1.2 is the better choice. From what I've read so far in the N7 section:
- Battery life isn't very good. Some people have reported losing about 25% in 3 hours with no usage,
- Bluetooth is buggy, and control pads can't be used (though may just be an app incompatibility and an update can fix it,
- Developer Settings are hidden away, another easter egg type thing to get to them.
Though people have also said that games play a lot better, so there is some good mixed in

No, it isn't. A build can't be called stable until everything's fixed and it has no major issues. Video decoding still doesn't work in that build, along with some PlayStore issues and some minor issues.

CM10 Beta 1 is stable. We can call it stable because I can use it as a daily driver. Almost everything works aside from Wifi Tether / Hotspot and that video decoding which can be temporarily fixed by 3rd party app as well with Wifi Tether.
Hey calling isn't working.
"grr you n00b don't disturb us you're insulting us use testing instead. "
Unless video decoding works, as well as some minor inconveniences, like the crash at language and input settings, no it isn't stable. For you may be. However it isn't for me.

I am not a 100% sure since I am not a developer, but if I had to guess I would assume mainly bug fixes. Also, the MMS.apk is back to white for 2.56, which is the most notable change.

Linaro is a toolchain that is used to compile the android source code. It's designed specifically for the ARM architecture so is able to provide drastic performance improvements. Refer to this youtube video for more of a visual demonstration comparing linaro versus non-linaro builds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrQRYmYip6Q (also linked in the OP). Enjoy!

Also, I just though I should mention that NFC isnt working for me with the Linaro build
A2Dp is not functioning well in this rom. It sounds like it's being sent over the phone codec used for calling over bluetooth. After you connect, make one call and this should reset it back to the normal A2Dp codec for playing music. This looks like a CM10 issue and I'm not sure what to do to actually fix it permanently.
Edit: Nevermind. This used to work but now it doesn't at all. Still totally unusable.

What prompted me to come look is that I started up my old Samsung Vibrant and was disappointed at how fast it felt compared to my HTC One S - faster!
So... what do you guys recommend?
I'm using ViperOneS 2.00 and it's perfect to use as a daily driver. You get sense and a lot of tweaks plus new update is in the works
Well i'm using pac man rom latest version and flashed bubbas kernel 2.7 over it and it runs pretty fast. You also get a bunch of tweaks that you can change with the app kernel tuner

No "Best ROM" Threads! See Guide Sticky
Welcome to my latest alpha ROM thread. Today I am sharing one of my latest ports in order to make development easier and faster so the community can have a working and stable ROM for daily use. This was ported under coderzs permission. He owns all the work to his Carbon Android 4.3 Build. Used as a base is Randomblame's JellyTime 4.3 Trainwreck v2 build. The ROM is not under any circumstance advised for daily use at the current stage. I open it for people who just want to take a spin at android 4.3 with a different flavour and developers who are willing to support and contribute to this project. Enjoy
Disclaimer: I take no responsibility of whatever may occur of using this ROM. This ROM is not recommended for daily use, so don't complain for it's quirks. If you use this ROM please be decent enough to leave a detailed bug report for the development to get better.

I see in the CM10 thread this list of bugs:
Known Bugs:
Screen of Death: This is a CM10 bug, many other devices are afflicted, not just the blaze. Many people are working hard to fix this.
UI action sounds may not work at first. Adjust the volume with the volume buttons, the sounds will then work fine. This is a known CM10 bug
BLN is wonky. Working on getting us merged with the stable version native to CM10.
Fixed 20121103+ : WiFi generates a random MAC address with each boot.
Camera: Flash can't be disabled
Camera: Storage location cannot be changed. This isn't really a bug, however if the interest is great enough, I might try and figure out a way to change the system default storage location.
Other things maybe? Discuss in the thread...

Are all of these bugs still present in the latest builds?
The latest nightly is 99.8% stable. Occasionally occasional people have occasional problems once in a while. Nothing is 100% usually. I've been running it for many months now. Just user ICS camera from the market and set it to use your sd card for saving pics.

I'm currently running Slimbean 4.3 20130905, and I've gotta say its pretty sweet. Its in beta stages so there will be a few bugs, but honestly the only ones I've come across so far is the camera crashes, the torch crashes, and setting performance tweaks cause a reboot. Other than that its buttery smooth. I HIGHLY recommend it, sir. Its a lightweight build for superior performance, and it delivers through and through. Also flash with the minimal gapps build to keep performance nice and creamy. Slimbeam + minimal gapps = 140mgb. Smaller than your average ROM.
I would never steer a fellow android enthusiast in the wrong direction

To be perfectly honest Liquid Smooth gave me some trouble. Even after doing a completely fresh flash it wasn't stable in the least.
That being said it never hurts to give it a shot. I saw somewhere a kernel you could flash possibly fixing any issues you may have with it. Unfortunately it didn't work for me

Hey there, I have an i9020a and after trying tons of 4.3 and 4.2 roms I found they all lacked something or other that old 4.1.2 roms had, but now that I'm out looking for them I find they were mostly lost in time. I'm currently using Slim Bean 3.1 but I mostly use the phone for IM'ing, and for some reason it keeps on killing apps after a while when the screen is off, and I'm not alerted of messages until I open the apps again. It also has a huge battery consumption, although in every other aspect I found it a brilliant rom, smooth and blazing fast with great game performance.
So now I'm looking for other 4.1.2 roms and I've read praise towards Helly Bean but that version is no longer on hellybean.com and I can't find any mirrors. Does anybody still have it? And while on the subject, can anyone else recommend other stable roms with BLN support and notification drawer widgets that is speedy and smooth (preferably with a link if possible)?
Cheers!

Sorry folks, recommending best rom threads get closed, why? because history shows that almost all of them become arguments over what rom is "better" and essentially, that is something that can only be determined by individual users.
Members are expected to read the thread in development to determine what is "best" for them.
