THIS WILL WIPE ALL YOUR DATA

You probably want to flesh out the directions a bit more. Otherwise you are going to get a ton of questions about root, recovery, etc.

Do you have to be on stock 4 .1 .2 in order to do this?

will this wipe
and does it work stock not rooted

No, you can ne on a custom ROM.
OP, try to ne more clear...this is the stock facrtory image, and will delete all your data...on both partitions...everything...so backup all your important files...
Doesn't matter which ROM you nave installed, with this you will have 4.2 like out of the box!

Will I lose root if I flash this update? If so, is there a way to root 4.2?

it all goes well but then i get an error in the dos window saying ;acrhive does not contain recovery.sig and 2 other .sig fles i cant remember...

Using this method will wipe everything, should probably include that in op.

No kidding.
Why not just update via the flash able ota file? Even if you're not rooted you can push it without losing data

Here are the preferred manual instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1781250
Like the toolkit version of this method mentioned in the OP, this WIPES ALL YOUR DATA!!!!
Before starting, copy your titanium backup folder and licence, as well as various other data you want to keep to your PC.
... and sorry for bumping this in the development forum.

[Q] Re-Rooting?

I know the title may sound odd, but let me explain. I rooted my phone a while back and have flashed plenty of ROM's. I think that there is something wrong and would basically like to take it back to the starting point....that point you get right after you have rooted it for the first time. What would be the best way? I ask because I do not want to return it to stock as in this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867253)
Do I act as if I have never rooted it and run it through the ODIN process?
If so, what method as lately I have seen more than one.
Thanks all.
Whats the difference between the time after you first rooted your phone vs it being rooted now? Idk maybe use supersu built in options for restoring root?
There isn't any way to do it for now only computers can do that.
Odin flash a rooted VRBLK3 image from mrRobinson thread in the dev section. Use the /sdcard wipe tar. You'll then need to unlock the bootloader if you intend to flash kernels or roms again.

This is a great guide but is written for rooting a phone for the first time. What Slim was suggesting was to install a pre-rooted image onto your phone after cleaning it properly. If you want to do it this was since it is familiar to you, I would return to stock using the guide in the stickies and then using the guide that you referenced to root and unlock. Make sure that you back everything up including the IMEI. Good luck!
OK..so I go and do this first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984436&highlight=mrrobinson
Then go do the root in the link I posted: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2046439
You mentioned cleaning...what do you mean by that?
Sound right?

All you need is download the "full wipe" version from here http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390214368362234355 then:
First, use Titanium to backup all your apps.
1. Remove your micro sdcard (it will wipe your card if you don't remove)
2. Boot into download mode (volume down + home + power buttons)
3. Use Odin to flash that image and remember only select PDA.
Once you boot up you will have a like factory setp with root. Do your normal setup then use Titanium to restore all your apps. That's it.

After I hijacked this thread I decided maybe creating my own was probably a better way to go. And maybe it will be easier for someone to find the same answer in the future. But it never hurts to have multiple opinions so thanks for your reply! I feel much more confident now that I wont brick another phone.

[Dump/Backup] 4.3 Google Edition for both TWRP/CWM + Radio + Firmware

Disclaimer: I am not responsible if you flash this and it bricks your devices, flames start shooting from it, it blows up or implodes, burns your house down, or kills the neighbor's dog. Flash at own risk!
This is a stock non rooted nandroid for Android 4.3 from the Google Edition. I will not be supplying a flashable zip as I don't have the time so either wait for someone to release a flashable zip. I'm posting this so other devs can start working on their custom stuff
TWRP Back up (system & boot): https://mega.co.nz/#!aAIgULQK!IJxicTh5qWC8csn3uwY2GmjgAelXttxn5cJNrd2sFpg
(this needs to be unzipped into the same folder on your sd card where your backups are)
CWRM Image Back up (system & boot): https://mega.co.nz/#!KAQDHRBD!VkaAAGPQa1VyLEG2k6qH8Hn1E9N7dN8FGlQ9i-HbpxE
(this can be flashed in CWM it will not flash in TWRP)
Radio (Flashable Zip): https://mega.co.nz/#!HdwxkQqC!TgSeIFmErtLL8iJkpzdR5ThAPn8S0U5BmoEZKrJ_87w
Firmware: This contains radio, Recovery, Hboot and all the other firmware for 4.3 This is not flashable and must be flashed in fastboot RUU mode https://mega.co.nz/#!6M5nCRLD!fAUWUAXWv1Sl-7HAcycrR3oxBQ0_5co3s2N5OCUt-n8
It doesn't matter what CID you're on, If you are running sense, CM, or any other rom. If you are running any other rom besides the Google Edition 4.2.2 rom you will have to perform a factory reset (aka wipe data).
There is going to be nothing maintained in this thread. it's simply for development purposes
4.3 full conversion RUUs now available in both pre rooted and stock non-rooted versions.

Thanks for the zip. Just a quick question though, how exactly is a nandroid different from a cwm zip? From what I've read you flash it just like you would a regular zip, except it deletes all user data and restores it to whatever was there during the nandroid creation?

You don't need to be rooted really. Just flash TWRP and do a back up (just your boot image so it's a quick back up) just so it creates the backup directory structure on your sd card. Boot into android and just put the folder that you unzip from the file in the OP in the same folder /sdcard/0/twrp/backup/HT?????/ folder (you'll see a similar time stamped one that you just made) plop the unzipped folder into there and then reboot back into twrp and restore.
Or you can just flash CWM and then flash that zip like any other zip
Does anyone have the radio.img from the 4.3 dump? Would love to give that a whirl over here in the states, see if anything improves.

4.3 Upgrade on Friday and root?

So I have a friend whose phone I rooted a while back. He's still on the stock ROM and has no plans to change. What do I have to do to get him the 4.3 upgrade when (or if lol) it comes out without locking his phone up? I'm assuming I'll have to remove root. Anyway to do that without using ODIN?
Thanks!

If he's still on the stock rom, he'll receive an OTA notification on his phone. So long as he hasn't removed any system apps or installed any systemUI mods then it will update just fine even with a custom recovery installed.
He removed a couple of system apps but is on the stock ROM with no UI changes.
he has time to worry about it later. nothing is going to happen on friday.
does he have a nand of the stock system? if so tell him to restore it before updating to be safe
Yeah that's what I thought but better safe than sorry. No NAND of stock as far as I know.
OK there is thread out there just has rooted stock ROMs you can flash in recovery without a data wipe. I can't seem to find the thread for some reason but I have the file. If you wait till tomorrow I can upload it and share it. Or maybe u can find the thread. Or if all he removed was Verizon apps he could try a flashable zip to restore VZW apps.

OK. Because you do NOT want to get that term mixed up and you do not want to flash a flushable zip using odim. Very bad idea. Odin uses tar files which sometimes comes zipped up (not flashable via recovery)

Hey welcome to xda and the ONEPlus forum. Just so you know this is a place where you should do as much troubleshooting prior to posting. Now questions:
1. have you checked the md5 to make sure it matches the zip file (Google it)
2. are you sure the file you downloaded is not corrupted
3. have you tried to open up the zip file on a pc to see if there are any issues
4. have you tried to download the file again and make another attempt
5. have you tried to download other files and flash it to pinpoint issue.
Android is great but dont play around with a phone that you will have to wait for another invite if you are unsure of what you are doing. I am saying this as someone trying to help you and not flame you....
Try the above any issues let me know

All the info you need is out there but you got to get your hands dirty and search and learn about them. Its only going to help you in the long run :good:

go to advanced wipe and simply check system, dalvik cache and cache. Nice clean wipe of system folder will always help. Remember you will have to flash gapps again as well(if necessary)
Full stock CM11S rom no need to worry about gapps
I had same issue I fixed it like this: after I pushed the cm11 zip from PC to phone using cmd, I didn't just go ahead and installed it. Instead i disconnect the phone did a reboot back into the twrp recovery, AND THEN installed the cm11 zip. That worked for me and no errors.

Don't use OTA updates. Just manually flash a rooted stock ROM via TWRP.
Click the link in my signature and go to the "resources" section. You'll find a full rooted, PURE STOCK 4.4.4 rom there.
Copy it to your /sdcard, take a FULL nandroid backup then flash the ROM.

if the dirty flash is successful, you wont lose a thing, except time. if you have to go back and wipe, you will lose your data. so, make a backup in recovery first, before the dirty flash.
