[Q] [A510] Do I need to relock my bootloader - Acer Iconia A700 and A510

Helo everyone,
I recently unlocked the bootloader on my A510 and I'm wondering if I need to lock it back, just to be sure to have the OTA if one day Acer decides to publish it.
Thanks in advance for your answers

no idea i assume it would detect it and not allow the updated if this is the case i wouldn't worry.
when JB comes out just go here and install the jb update by copying to the sd card and rebooting into update mode.
btw it should be really soon as in last week nov first week dec soon for the 510 that is no idea on 511.

Hello, I just tried to relock the bootloader with the following:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem lock
I do the manipulation to set it to lock and it says :
Please flash official system.img and try again
ConfirmLockMode: LockMode verified failed
I never installed any custom rom or recovery, this is just nuts. Anybody have any idea ?
Regards
Edit: maybe I should go ask in the dev section ?

[Q] Nexus S Software Upgrade

Hello I hope you guys can help me.
So I decided to get a Nexus S about 2 weeks ago, 1st one I had I upgraded straight to 4.0.3 ICS. Ran well except from poor available RAM and the dreaded back button issue. Finally had the handset replaced with a (seemingly) full working handset.
However I notice my android version is 2.3.1. To be honest I only want official upgrades to avoid any problems with warranty. So I check for software and apparently this is the latest version. I know this isn't true...
Please help me or offer some advice on what to do. I did search for this query but I couldn't find any recent posts regarding this.
Many thanks.
Google pulled the ics 4.0.3 update due some issues. But somewhere this month we will get the 4.0.5 ota, so dont worry

Thank you for your prompt reply,
Even if I'm currently running on 2.3.1 will my phone automatically go straight to 4.0.5?
Thank you
hi there,
you have two options:
1. as per prev post, wait until you get 4.0.5 OTA sometime this month
2. or if you do not want to stay on 2.3.1, you can check this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445570
it has all official updates from 2.3.1 up until ICS 4.0.3
all you need to do, is download the incremental package you want,
boot into recovery (3e) and install zip from sdcard.
the choice is yours.
good luck

Yes, but you can at least update to 2.3.6 using the manual method. Just find which model of the Nexus S you have, and download the update file for your phone here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063664 and then just boot into recovery and browse to the update zip you downloaded.
Using the manual method is safe and doesn't require unlocking or rooting your phone.

Agree. 2.3.6 is better than 2.3.1. And its 100% safe to it the way he explained. The zip you will download is unrooted so you still will be fully stock

BASH BASH BASH UR AZZ - Stop being lazy ... LOL
I sent mine in for the 4G LTE upgrade. I did the factory data reset, unrooted, relocked the boot loader, but I forgot to change the splash back. It's no big deal. I sent it in for the upgrade . Total time - I got my device back in 3 business days! They do not care about the boot splash. All they care about is the boot loader being relocked, the original sys images are back on the device, and that the Xoom is unrooted. Otherwise They won't be able to Upgrade you without the original sys images. They are going to wipe your device clean, Open it up change your modem to the 4G modem, install the new software and restore the Factory Boot Splash when it's done.
SO -Factory data reset, unroot, lock the boot loader. Hope everything works out for you.
You're going to need to have the Android SDK installed. If you don't have it -You can download it here:
ANDROID SDK - DOWNLOAD
XOOM Firmware Downloads: From the Motorola Site
[3G|MZ600-HRI66]
Unzip the files in MZ600_HRI66.zip and move or copy them to the /platform-tools folder in your SDK folder.
Connect your Xoom to your computer. Type: or copy paste -
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Wait for it to reboot into the bootloader.
Type the following commands, waiting for each to finish before continuing:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot erase cache
You've now successfully flashed your Xoom back to stock. Now it's time to relock the device. Type
Code:
fastboot oem lock
wait for the menu
then press the volume-down button.
Then press the volume up button.
It'll take a minute or so, then reboot. You're now completely back to stock and ready for the update.
As Always, If This Was Helpful Hit the THANKS button.

It is for the Verizon Xoom.
If you have the Verizon symbol in the top right hand corner of your device then your eligible.
If not, your S.O.L.

Huawei mercury (glory) cricket ICS LEAKED!

http://www.cricketusers.com/showthread.php?p=81081
Someone leaked it now lets see who can do what for us
Sent from my M886 using Tapatalk 2
Running this Review inside
This can install two ways
from the sd card as a upgrade or from the cricket pst software in download mode
this rom is a bit bloated once you remove the apps and freeze that you cant it runs ok
The big issue is they have included a new boot loader /DOwnload MODE is not a modem mode.
the new boot loader has some type of file signature verification. changing any system file or recovery puts you booting to a .... verification failure screen so At this time we do have root but NO CUSTOM RECOVERY.. grrr
anyone know how to get around this or to unlock this boot loader please replay
thanks Erica
Whoa, this would be nice
My girlfriend has a Murcury, and since I just got my EVO3D up to JellyBean I thought I'd see what I could do for hers, but I can only find ONE custom ROM. It would be really nice to see ICS make it to Murcury, since it was really their only good phone (Cricket) for a long time, and I don't think it got many updates. I'll keep an eye on this though, and see where it goes
From what I've seen they have an unofficial update to ics 4.0.3 look up how to install ics on m886

[Q] Rooted S3: How Do I get Verizon Update??

I generally don't root my phones but I needed to increase the size of my SD cache so I rooted it.
I have read the threads on what to do if you have rooted and installed a new rom but I only did a portion of this process.
To root the phone, I followed the guide on this forum and completed the following:
Enabled USB Debugging and Unknown Sources (Phone)
Double-clicked "RootDebugfs" on PC with phone connected to computer using OEM USB cable. It ran to completion.
Installed - ez_unlock.apk and rom_manager.apk
At this point SuperUser was supposed to install but it didn't. I downloaded and installed Superuser, updated the Superuser binaries, and I was rooted. I confirmed this with Root Checker.
I never unlocked the phone with Ez-Unlocker
I never used Rom-Manager either.
I did install SD Speed Increase and increased the SD cache size from 128kb to 1024 kb.
Now there is a Verizon update that I should probably get. In the near future I will need to update to Jelly Bean.
What do I need to do to install these Verizon updates?
If you're rooted, stock recovery and not unlocked you can take any OTA but it will break root. But as far as I've seen you can root again.
If you're unlocked with custom recovery you need to flash back to full locked stock and stock recovery to accept OTA.

As long as u have stock recovery then just take the ota and re root. If u don't have stock recovery the gym flash it with ez recovery app. That's how I updated my phone this morning
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
You could also just wait until someone creates a flashable zip and flash through CWM or TWRP.
Thank you for the replies.
I did not change anything regarding recovery. I only did whats indicated in my initial post.
If I do the OTA update will I just root again using the same process I did initially?
If so, is that just "double-click "RootDebugfs" on PC with phone connected to computer using OEM USB cable and run it to completion."?
I appreciate the support provided and appreciate all responses.

Exactly. That's how I did it.

Just be aware that it's not unheard of for the root exploit to get blocked in the new OTA. It doesn't sound like that has happened here, but just FYI. That's part of why the common mantra is to just wait for someone to post a rooted version of the stock rom... or go with a custom rom (shout out to CleanRom here).

Thanks a lot for the information. I'm sure I can handle that. I'm considering not doing the update and then either waiting for the Verizon update to Jelly Bean or find a Jelly Bean ROM and take that route.
Thanks again.

[Q] System Update Bug after Root/unlock attempt

Hey guys,
So I rooted my phone a while ago and then (stupidly) attempted to unlock my bootloader on system build 9.20.1.XT926.Verizon.en.US. And now everytime i click System Update it flashes and nothing happens. I have tried unrooting the device with no luck. Wondered if you all had any ideas.
When I go into AP Fastboot i see Device is LOCKED. Status Code:0
My next attempt is going to be re-unroot the device and then attempt option 1 here
Thanks for your input/responses.
-Nick
you would need to use the latest utility found in the development forum, versuin 1.34, version 1.2 in that video will just cause your phone to boot loop because the bootloader is locked.
Yeah I have the new one. Would I do option 1 or option 2 and do I need to unroot first or will it unroot me when I chose one of those two options?
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
you just need option 1 and yes it will be unrooted afterwards.
Thanks
