What did you expect you flashed an OTA update. Unless you use something like OTA Root Keeper you are gong to lose root. Just use one of the many ways to root your device. I use Wug Fresh for rooting and installing a custom recovery.

how about rooting this 4.2 ??
I just updated and rooted with the same CWM package I used for 4.1.2 rom.
how to root it
use which super su.zip?
You can root it with the Nexus 7 ToolKit. Tested and working for me.
Or you can root manualy, by pushing rhe CWM recovery to system in Fastboot mode and installing the SU from CWM.
Beware of the Bootloader 4.13 that also made the issue of not recognizing the custom recovery - need to downgrade bootloader to 3.34 first.
In my case the recovery remained unchanged. I didn't had to downgrade anything.

Hi!
Just found a way to update to JB from the 1.053 version (Acer_AV043_A700_RV22RC03_EMEA_DE) on wich every other update failed for me. But runs with the other versions, too.
Unlock Bootloader
Install CWM (6.0.1.4)
Visit this german forum
get the file A700 JB Full ROM AV051_1.028.00_EMEA_DE RV09RC02.zip
flash it via CWM
DONE!
Just tested and it's working.
Credits go to those who deserve it.
I deleted CWM and a mate let it where it was and both A700 are running fine [*] (see below!)
... now waiting for root
----------------------------
[*] New info:
My friend, who kept CWM, unlocked the bootloader again after the update and now has a bootloop. So my advice is to kill CWM after the update.
I don't get into recovery too (with locked bootloader) it says "recovery image verified failed". But system starts normally afterwards.
------------------
More info:
I had CWM on the tab too, because i misunderstood the question:
When asked
Code:
ROM may flash stock recovery on boot. Fix?
No
No
No
Yes - Disable recovery flash
say NO! to kill CWM.
------------------
Still more info to come:
(4.10.2012)
The bootloop was fixed by flashing a propriate recovery after beeing able to enter fastboot using the right key combination.
andiby left us a JB stock recovery: recovery.img and he build a CWM 6.0.1.4 with JB Kernel: recovery-a700-6014JB.img which runs fine for me.
Use the CWM with JB Kernel only to flash files and not to WIPE, FORMAT or RESTORE a backup, because there were issues with a different JB based CWM and I can't guarantee this one to work, because I have not tested it.
I'm on FR Firmware, can you tell me how should I proceed?
If you want to keep the FR firmware you will have to wait for an appropriate update file.
If you want to switch to Germen I think it should work with this method, because the zip file contains everything from bootloader to system files.
Do you think I can here: https://app.dumptruck.goldenfrog.com/p/GOKKb2PavJ download an install then install Acer_A700_AV043.RV07RC03_AV043.RV07RC06_EMEA_DE thereafter this here JB?
I would not recommend it, because your file is only 340 MB while the one from the thread above is nearly 400 MB.
I think you only need the file from my post, because there is everything in it fpr JB afaik, but I can give no guarantee, because I only used it to update my German version.
PS: Might it be posible to reduce the size of your signature a bit? Threads are much more difficult to read if a signature is almost always larger than a normal post. Thank you to give consideration to my request.

That depends on a lot of things.
Are you stock rooted, or are you running a custom ROM?
If you are stock rooted, do you have a custom recovery installed?
There are a bunch of ways to unroot. If you are stock rooted with stock recovery, you can remove SuperUser and the files associated with superuser in (going from memory) xbin.
If you have a (working) custom recovery (that you did not use ROM Manager to update) then you can simply flash the stock firmware in recovery (unzip the file from Asus 1 time).
If you have a TF101 (non-3G version) you can use NVFlash or EasyFlasher to flash back to stock in APX mode.
I am running KatKiss and CWM. I have superSU, and there is an option for "Full Unroot". Not sure if this would work, since I need stock rom. Would I do the full unroot, then just flash the stock rom? what would I do with the custom recovery then?
If I were to flash the stock rom, wouldn't it still be rooted, and also have custom recovery? I need to set it back to all stock and factory defaults

Look in the CWM thread too, maybe it has the OTA flashing option too. Yes, you can overwrite a custom recovery with a new custom recovery but also in cmd type: fastboot erase cache after you flash a new recovery.

Well i haven`t rooted my Moto G myself, but if the OTA flash option is not available in CWM/TWRP you have to flash a stock image to get the OTA or flash a KK based custom rom.

No, OTA`s can only be installed on a stock rom, kernel and recovery. If anything is altered or vital system components deleted the OTA will not install.

Sry for double post.
Is it possibly to install the update via CWM? Install from zip. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600914)
4.4.2 just uploaded here.
a lot of users are having this problem and if you want to receive an OTA you have to flash the stock unrooted firmware that will cause lose of data.
this guide will show you how to receive OTA again without losing your stuff
This works on GT-I9500 ONLY! (Lollipop 5.0.1 Recovery)
This also should work on any other model, but you have to replace the recovery with your model!
Steps:
1- Go to SuperSU and scroll down to "Full unroot" then reboot.
2- Download This file to PC and extract it.
3- Go to download mode by pressing the power key + home key + volume down key at the same time, then press volume up.
4- Flash the file via Odin (AP) or (PDA)
go to check the system status, you will find it Official
you can now receive OTA.
Q&A:
What is OTA (Over The Air)? Its an update which you can receive over wifi or mobile data.
What do i get from OTA? Well, if you root your device you wont be able to receive an update again, unless from flashing firmware via Odin.
- Why im still on custom status? Because you modified your system.
- What kind of modifying? Installing busybox, editing or deleting or changing any app or file system.
and some times xposed.
- How do i restore the old app? You can restore them by flashing firmware or by restoring Nandroid backup.
- Then what is the use of your guide? Well my guide helps in first place the rooted not the modded onces.
and always do Nandroid of the original system apps+data
you are still having your apps, data, pics, vids, etc...
you can root again at anytime.
check my thread for rooting if you want
im not responsible for any bricks
thank you...

At some point the update maybe canceled, because the update checks for the apps before the installation, always do a backup of your phone then remove what you want, after you want to update just restore the system folder from the backup

ok, you need to copy the kernel file to the phone memory.
Then flash the cwm file using odin.
Then reboot to recovery and flash the kernel that is stored on your phone memory.
Then when you exit CWM, it will prompt you to root, so agree to it.
You need the right cwm for your model of ohone by the way.
