new discovery about the screen upside down's problem - myTouch 4G General

well this is my first thread here. i just want share something here and if my bad english can't express what I mean and make some guys not happy sorry about that....
ok let's back to the topic.i have met much more srceen upside down's problem in different rom with different kernel and want solve the problem but cannot becase of my limited skills. but today i find a the min cpu frequency will make the sreen different.
that is:
if i chose the min cpu frequency at 192 MHz and meet the screen upside down very frequently.
the default min cpu frequency is 268 MHz and meet the screen upside down often.
if i chose the min cpu frequency at 345 MHz and meet the screen upside down very few times.
if i chose the min cpu frequency at 1036 MHz and cant meet the screen upside down
test like this:
chose different min cpu frequency and close the screen then open the screen then close then open..
the roms i have tested have the same phenomenon
PACman_GLACIER v16.1
SyNthetic_aospX 1.0.0-MR1SG
well that's all
i know that may really not solve the problem just share it with you guys.

I think it also has something to do with the governors too. I could use the same frequency on smartass v2 and performance but it happens less often on performance.

thx for reply. feel better at 345mhz with v2

I can get the screen to flip regardless of frequency unless I switch to the performance governor. Then a max frequency of 384 still flips easily, but 784 and above is better.

Performance maxes out the cpu at all times, which helps the OP's point.

[Q]Temperature after Overclocking to 1.2 ghz

Successfully OCed to 1.2 ghz (80 voltage) on motorola defy. My temperature is going up to 41°c from 37°c within 10 minutes of PSX gameplay...is it safe? and how high temp goes up so that it is on the safe side. I mean is there a limit to the temperature of the CPU after that it's dangerous?
Also should the freqeuncies of Max and Min be same? what's the difference
Please i need a fast reply on this !
thanks in advance
no reply? don't tell me no one knows this?
The min and max should not be the same. Min is the lowest you want the CPU to scale down too and max is the highest frequency you want to overclock too. On my HTC Desire min is set to 245 mhz and max 1113 mhz.
I don't know about the temperature, someone else should elaborate on that.

You should be fine... These CPU's are designed to run without a fan or cooling of any kind.

Let's OC

It's time to Overclock our Phone...
DISCLAIMER: OVERCLOCK IS DANGEROUS FOR OUR PHONES
How to:
1. Now download r151 from Here
2. Put the files of r151 in the root of SD, run HARET.
3. Download SetCPU from Here and install It.
4. Now open SetCPU, And choice "Autodetect Speeds Reccomanded".
5. Allow Root.
6. Press Windows button and choice "Perflock Disabler" and "Attemp to Disable Perflock" and Check "Set on Boot".
7. Now, close the windows and OC our Phone.
My phone under USB and AC run at 825 MHz without Crash, i had tryed to run it at 864 MHz but System Crash everytime. Without USB and AC my phone run at 787 MHz. I Post 2 Images 1. = Normal Clock 2. = 825 MHz Clock.
To Made Benchmark i Use BenchmarkPi.
1. Screen Normal Clock
2. Screen 825MHz
For Other Question:
1. SetCPU
2. -r0bin-'s Post
I did it, it works perferctly !
Upscaled to 825 and min 128
Downscaled to 245 while charging and screen off
Thanks !

Tell me please, does it helps to save the battery in last releace (r163)? I`m asking becouse i try to use Master CPU, and it seems to me that it don`t helps to save energy... But I don`t use profiles, only ondemand settings from 120-600 mHz.
Thanks!
@HTCxxxx
what is the percentage priority by profile?

And Screen Off 100 too.
19 Mhz does not work for me. Phone gets unusable slow and dont come back :/
Beside that, underclocking do not have a big influence on the battery consumtion.
Undervolting would be more interesting.

Why Unusable??? Yhea, Undervolting can be an Interesting Thing, but i Think if the Volting is too low phone Freeze, and if is too high cpu can have an High temperature if you're stressing cpu and phone can freeze too. But i've noted, when i use a low "screen off" profile battery consumaption is high? why? is a problem of kernel? or is nomal?

you are right,i also experienced that 19 Mhz makes phone lazy
i'm also agree about 2nd part..i read the same

you don't need to undervolt it too low,you just need to find the right voltage
try last kernel from r0bin and you will not have high battery consumption anymore
Low Mhz does not lead automaticly to low consumtion.
If you phone has something todo (update something for example) it will get the job done faster with high Mhz and is going fastert to sleep after that.
With low Mhz it takes longer and so can have higher consumtion.
On my HD2 I dont use profiles (like screen off) and it has a very low consumtion on standby/sleep.
If you set a minimum speed when screen is off a11 is not able to go to suspend, maybe
just a quick feedback on power consumption:
it never been so good with r167+drain fix without SetCPU
when I set profiles with low frequency (19 or 128Mhz) it keeps on consuming battery up to 100mA. when i switch SetCPU profiles off, i go to 9mA in suspend mode.
true story
there must be a way to setup SetCPU in a way it doesnt affect too much battery drain in suspend mode, but for the time being i just deactivated it.

yes i see some improvement, and im happy for it...
(I THINK)
Hi All,
I've understood why CPU doesn't run @ 19MHz or @ 128 MHz...
Go to /sys/acpucloclock and look acpuclk_tbl...In It there are write all frequencies CPU can Run:
245760,400000,480000,600000,768000,787200,806400,825600,844800,864000....
but no Under 245 MHz so if You use a Profile for Screen off From 19MHz to 254MHz, cpu Run everytime @ 245MHz...so there is an high consummation of energy
bye

hi
as codiak said earlier lowering CPU(underclocking) doesn't have so much impact on battery life..he also explained you why..if you want i will explain you too
explanation:run CPU at low voltage, open an app or downloading an email, etc= CPU will take time to get to the level app needs, display will stay longer while it CPU will get done the job= worse battery life
Undervolting will have impact on battery life
explanation:run same CPU clock at lower Voltage= CPU will use less power=better battery life
hope it's clear enough for you now,and if anyone else thinks i'm wrong feel free to prove me i'm wrong
P.S. Anyway i asked devs and they will lower CPU to run @ less than 245 Mhz.
Enjoy

[Q] Overlocking Values in SetCPU?

I have at max: 1200 MHz ,at min 83 and in typeerformance, are these values corecct or wrong for a custom rom?
-Greeting-
PD:Andro's Rom (3 days for release)
Yes, or no, because you need a screen off profile or your battery life will be damn short.
I think this should be in the general section and i recommend using the conservative governor over the performance since conservative goes to the minimum frequency when phone is not being used i.e. when screen is off. This is best for performance since it automatically goes to the maximum frequency when screen is on and when screen is off it goes to the minimum which is good for battery.
1200 is too high....
It will damage your battery....
I use 100 MHz to 800 MHz....
Its average and most of the users use the same....

I think that is a very wise thing to do. I shall see how my phone runs at that speed.
Oks.thx.
Now:
MAX:800
MIN:83
Type: Conservative.
Are these values correctly now?

Lol! Did you make a mistake by posting this question in the development section? Suppose to put at general section.

That frecuency will eat your battery.
I use my SetCPU at frecuencies 400-800Mhz, and use profiles for screen off (83-400Mhz), battery <20% (200-600Mhz), time (2am-6am) (83-83Mhz powersave)
always on demand (except time profile)
Greetings
My config is
Main 400-800 Mhz Ondemand Set on boot
Profiles
Temp >45°C 200-500 Mhz priority 100 Ondemand
time 2am-6am 83-83 Mhz priority 95 powesave
screen off 83-500 Mhz priority 90 Ondemand
Battery <20% 200-600 Mhz priority 80 Ondemand
I have g3mod 2.0 OC kernel
Greetings
I just use basic settings, no profiles or anything. Look in my signature.
I may add a few profiles after my lil bro is finished playing games on my phone.
My battery temp is 39 degrees Celsius is it that a good tempeture?
anything between 83 and 800 would work like charm and enough for day to day tasks..use conservative governor..set profile for screen off and on call..

Ondemand vs Lazy Governor

Guys, can you help me out?
Something odd has been happening on my phone. I run Matrix kernel 9.5 on Lazy Governor and everything's fine, but when i turn it to Ondemand the phone starts to reboot randomly.
Does anybody know what can it be?
Thanks!
Try running different min and Max frequencies and see if that helps.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
have you fiddled with the voltages
I tried different min and max frequencies and I also played a little bit with voltages. What i realized is that if the voltage is too low for a particular frequency my phone reboots. Do you know how can i teste how far i can get with OC?? If i OC to 1.2GHz for instance, and my phone reboots... Can i put a higher voltage to 1.2 frequency in order to get it working?
Thanks in advance!
Try to increase the voltage as small as possible until it not reboot
But be carefull! Increased voltage can damaged your cpu.
I prefer dont do OC, this device is fast enough on default freq.

[Q] SETCPU?

i aleary set cpu to max 1.8ghz and min 1.6ghz how to st it?? i did try to set it too 1.8mina nd max but my phone hangs and powerd-off!!! how to set it?!
Hey. I wouldnt recommend your current srtup at all unless you want horrible battery life and massive amounts of heat however i sont have an answer for your predicament, try using another app with the same function?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
listen to me. set it like I say:
max frequency 1512
min frequency 384
governor interactive
go to profiles and create a new profile. set:
screen off
max 432
min 192
governor conservative
priority 100
this way you have a good performing phone and with screen off a power saving profile. with this configuration I have 15 hours battery (enough for a day) of mid use...with data activated and live wallpaper
Nice stats ! I'm going to try that!
Sent from my Sensation 4G using xda premium
Some phones can handle higher frequency then others if your phone can't go over 1.8 well there is nothing you can do..
Swyped From My Sensation.
I SET IT TO this But anyway i don't care battery life
Dont OC much
dude that's friggin gih frequency's. Dont push it too hard, it'll do no good to the processor. Besides, what do you need that kind of power for ? Runing Crysis ?
