adb inside d10dc root is the one I need! Where you get that? Is that an original adb (v1.0.26) or exploited?
my RK3066 got problem to use USB debugging, I can install driver successfully by just adding my USB VID and PID into android_winusb.inf but "adb devices" cannot find it. I tried adb from ADK or embedded in some app, but only using this one can find my device.
I am using Ployer Momo7 dual core

I always can use any adb in recovery mode.
but only by using your link, now I can adb using USB debugging. Thanks.
Anyway, I found that it is not easy to flash recovery for unsupported device. I want to try CWM or 4Ext Recovery but they support only most popular devices by auto detect and one click flash. I tried to find the way to suite CWM or any recovery binary into a custom devices but seems no easy or general idea + require linux machine. Some said flash will overwrite /recovery but sometimes they copy somethings to /system if I check the recovery.img source. Normally there are boot, system and data partition but where recovery binaries located is still unclear to me. I am thinking I might need to resize partition on device originally without recovery.
Are you able to flash CWM in your device? How is that possible?

yes i had flashed CWM on my device
in bootloader mode (guide is given)
the CWM i had flashed just replace the recovery ramdisk and your original kernel will be same
so you can try it
there is enough space on rk3066 (16 MB for boot and recovery so you dont need to do anything)

I followed the instruction was able to flash the ROM to my D70pro ii running 4.1.1 (ROM 20121220), but now it is running in a boot loop, it will only boot to cwm 5.5.0.4, it wont boot to android 4.1.1. I tried to make recovery, it say cache recovery not found. Now, I think my only lifeline is install .zip through SD. My question, should I try install cwm 6.0.2.7 or should I install Darkwater's custom ROM. I hope I can make a factory stock ROM first before I venture into custom ROM. Unfortunately, I dont have a choice now, any suggestions, please?

EDIT FROM THE ARCHANGEL: DO NOT USE THIS RECOVERY IT WILL BRICK YOUR TAB,btw i pulled the links
CWM Recovery v5.5.0.4 for A70x
Attention!
At the moment CWM recovery is not workable! Its use can lead to non-functionality of your tablet! For details see here.
Original article is published on this site and created by ZeroNull and steaven_zw (4pda.ru).
How to:
1. Boot your device.
2. On a tablet: "Settings" -> "Applications" -> "Development" -> "USB debugging" switch on. Connect the tablet to your PC. Be sure to install the latest driver for the tablet.
3. Download the archive and extract it to any convenient location on your computer.
4. Unlock your bootloader for fastboot, follow here. Then reboot a tablet.
5. Open the directory with the unpacked archive. Execute file:
for windows with the rights of administrator:
Code:
flash-cwm.bat
Recovery is installed.
Reboot again with Volume- and see whether you can still access recovery (or use the following command):
Code:
adb reboot recovery
PS: If you can not use this instruction, look here.
You're the man.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
should the boot image be patched our does that not matter
Works great thanks for your awesome work again.:good:
Quick questions for you ZeroNull:
Do we have to unlock bootloader first (I suppose we do) ?
Do we have to be rooted first (I suppose we don't) ?
If we don't have to be rooted first, can we root after just by flashing the supersu.zip by Chainfire from recovery (I would suppose we can) ?
Thanks a lot, again.
EDIT: I just checked and saw that the recovery in this package is the same size as the "rooting.img" in the generic root package from you. I suppose that means it is a temp recovery that you use to root the tab ? Which means we can gain root from recovery so flashing supersu from this recovery should work... just trying to understand what's going on, for my own knowledge
EDIT 2: I just opened the .bat file and saw there was some disabling at the end for recovery.sh
I also opened an Acer rom and saw inside the zip that there was some stuff about recovery.sh
From what I can understand, it looks like you disable something that Acer wants to do. What is it exactly ?
If I reflash an Acer stock rom from CWM recovery, will the recovery be reflashed with stock one, or does your script takes care of that ?
Again, just trying to understand.
Still looking for a stock .017 US ROM image...

Since you are apparently still running the stock .017 US ROM, could you make (and post or PM me) a backup copy that could be used to re-flash to stock?
Thanks,
I am currently flashed and running the .025_EMA_CUS1 ROM with teh new CWM recovery... all went very well!
You'll have to unlock the boot-loader to flash a recovery, but you don't need to be rooted for this to happen. You root the operating system to gain access behind the scenes....A recovery such as CWM (this) is the first step for you to flash non signed ROMs (modified) without the system denying you. Then you can flash an already rooted (or tweaked) ROM once they are available, but as of right now there aren't any.
So unlock boot-loader, flash this, then root your ROM...

Sorry, but I'm currently running this: SDs_Acer_AV043_A700_RV07RC06_EMEA_FR.zip
It is a french leak, but you can get it from the rom thread so I'm not going to be able to help you much on this.
By the way, did you root before pushing this recovery or did you just unlock the bootloader ?

No, you'll have to use one of the scripts in the rooting threads unless someone creates a flashable root.
The script I used automatically installed su and busy box.

Thanks for the response.

You mean "stock rom", right?
If someone would make a nandroidbackup of a stock-Version, then You could recover from that Backup and would be on Stock.
You just need someone to be so kind, but i guess that ont take too long.

After backup using the cwm and reboot then reboot again to recovery it will boot the original acer recovery!
Is this temporary cwm recovery?
After connecting the charger when the tablet off it will restore the original recovery

In the original of Acer firmware there is a function restore original (stock) recovery. In my instruction at one stage of the script executes the CWM recovery. This is necessary, that would disable the restoration of the original (stock) recovery. If for some reason the launch has not occurred or the user manually exited from the CWM recovery, then system restore will not be disabled. And after rebooting the system will automatically be restored to the original recovery.
When it executes
Disable script /etc/install-recovery.sh
error: device not found
error: device not found

I think the problem in version bootloader, which is installed on your tablet.
This problem can be solved in two ways:
Option 1. Change to another the firmware version, in which works command bootloader - "fastboot boot recovery.img"
Option 2. After running the installation script CWM recovery, when comes to message:
Booting recovery.img

turn off the tablet. And then perform the following steps:
1. Press and hold down the 'Volume -'. Power on the tablet. After starting the CWM recovery - releasing button 'Volume -'.
2. Open the directory with the unpacked archive. Launch from this directory the Windows command prompt. And enter the following commands:
Code:
adb shell "mount -a && cd /system/etc && mv install-recovery.sh install-recovery.old"
adb reboot
Now CWM recovery will not be overwritten with the original recovery.

Hey,
I recently got a hold of a Nexus S as a friend of mine gave me his phone as a gift to replace my Iphone 3g before he left out of the country. I love this phone, cant seem to put it down but now I want to upgrade the phone to ICS or JellyBean. I was hoping if someone can point me in a direction of how to upgrade. I cant seem to find any info on how to upgrade with a rooted 2.3.7. The phone I have is a Nexus S I9020A with 2.3.7. I am also including a screen shot of the phone settings. Please go easy on me as I just jumped in to the world of andriod and Im loving it! From the research i was getting from google i was wondering whether I should go to stock 2.3.6 and then get OTA for ICS, as I read how rooted phones do not get OTA. So I was hoping if someone could lead me to the best pathway to upgrade, if it is true that you only get OTA for unrooted phones I would prefer those upgrades. Thank you so much for your help!
first go here :http://www.randomphantasmagoria.com/firmware/nexus-s/i9020a/ download 2.3.6 GRK39F Full ROM...
2:download 4.0.4 IMM76D - IMM76D from GRK39F
3:download 4.1.1 JRO03E- JRO03E from IMM76D
Copy the 3 files to the storage card.
power off phone ..
press the power button and the volume up button ..now you see the recovery ..
wipe data/cache/dalvik
install zip from sdcard
first 2.3.6
reboot
second
imm76d
reboot
third
JRO03E
reboot
thats it !!
Or avoid update on update **** and flash stock JB from images instead : https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
thank you for your help, i downloaded those three files and put it on the phone. once i get in to recovery I do not see wipe data/cache/dalvik. Everytime I select recovery it gives me a blank screen for one second and then takes me back to the same screen but on the top it says fastboot mode - no boot or recovery img

Boot into recovery. (make sure you have a new version of recovery. If you want google - nexus s install cmw recovery
Clear/wipe everything in recovery, you will have the option to wipe phone and clear cache. You need to do this before changing roms or your bound to get errors.

1. You must HAVE prior knowledge of how to root Android phones, either you have rooted a previous phone or have helped/seen one being rooted.
2. PC running windows 7 and connected to the INTERNET. (I haven't tested this on Windows XP but you can try and give feedback, the internet connection is required for any DRIVER download which might be required)
ROOTING:
Software Requirements (Please download the following)
1. Root with Restore by Bin4ry
Steps:
1. Driver Installation: Install the correct drivers for your phone. (Do any of the following)
A. Search and Install MTK6577 driver / MEDIATEK VCOM USB Drivers
B. Install PDANet (it will automatically install the drivers for your phone)
C. Download and install SuperOneClick (it will automatically install the drivers for your phone)
D. If PC is connected to the internet, Windows 7 will automatically install drivers for you when you connect your phone.
2. Please ensure that USB DEBUGGING and INSTALL FROM UNKNOWN SOURCES are ON in your ASTRA. See SETTINGS. Connect your ASTRA to the PC using the provided USB cable.
3. Unzip the zip file Root with Restore from Bin4ry. Then RUN/START the Runme.bat file.
4. It will start the rooting process script, Choose 1 then ENTER (Device Type - NORMAL).
5. Wait a while, then look at your ASTRA and it should ask you to RESTORE, after which it will REBOOT.
6. The script will continue UNTIL you will see a message SUCCESSFUL.
7. Congratulations you have ROOTED your STARMOBILE ASTRA.
CWM-BASED RECOVERY:
1. Download Astra Recovery ZIP file, and UNZIP. Connect your phone to the PC and mount as USB drive.
2. Copy the mu7577.apk and recovery.img file to the root (or main folder or highest level folder) of your SDCARD.
3. Install the Mobileuncle Tools (mu7577.apk)
4. Run Mobileuncle Tools
5. Choose Recovery Update
6. Choose the recovery file in SDcard.
7. It will ask for root permission (GRANT it) the it will Flash the recovery image to your phone and reboot you to CMW recovery.
8. NOW YOU HAVE CMW Recovery for installing zip files/custom ROMs.
9. Use Volume up/down keys to navigate and Power button to choose/select. Be very careful, if you do not know what you are doing then do not select/change anything in recovery.
10. Choose Reboot System Now to exit recovery and reboot celphone.
Thanks Paul! You saved me a ton of time and effort.
Needs reboot 2 times. Then you can go to recovery now.

Try it using Vista. As long as the USB drivers get installed then it will work.

please carefully read the first post, SUPERONECLICK is NOT used here for rooting but rather just ONE of the ways to install a compatible driver.

bricked my astra help
dddddddddd
Hi! The rooting steps worked for my Starmobile crystal but the cwm recovery didn't as my phone hangs during reboot (this is right after the starmobile logo). Any help would be immensely appreciated. Thanks!
The rooting procedure will work for MTK6577 based roms. But the recovery is strictly for Astra. Better search for original recovery.img of your unit then flash it as the Astra recovery is not compatible with your phone.

You can download the firmware from prestigio site and it will be factory-state.
Hello!
We have a small community in Hungary with this tablet, and this method has some serious problem that came up for a few people including me.
After the first boot with a rooted tabled, gapps going to crash many times. The only solution was to reinstall gapps from CWM (from the cyanogenmod source). After the second boot AOSP keyboard started to crash. Others had problems after a week of use. They had infinite boot loop and the only solution was to flash the original fw.
Do anybody else had problems like this?
after a few attempts, it worked like a charm... thanks for a nice and clear tutorial...
if only there were some custom kernels for this device...
btw in developer tools - how can you enable "Full screen anti-aliasing"? it's grayed out and unavailable...
one more thing
on the official Prestigio web site and in the device manual it says that this tablet can't be charged through usb port - not exactly true...
i used my android phone charger and plugged the usb cable to the device and charging worked (it doesn't work only if plugged in the computer usb port)...
but i don't know what happened - usb charging didn't work today (maybe it has something to do with rooting of the device - it worked yesterday when it was unrooted) - if i figure out what happened - i'll post it here...

You have to downgrade first. After the reboot with the 3G older firmware your tablet will be a non responding brick, but don't worry it has to be this way. Push the power button and the tablet going to power off.
Anyway as I wrote, after rooting most pepole got many problems (chrashing apps, bootloop ect.) and the community is too small to solve problems like this. Easy rooting method is still needed.
You don't have to worry, you can flash the factory firmware to your tablet even if it's a halfbrick, you can do rooting safely.
I tried it a while ago. I have ROOT now! Great. This way is right. THX
-----EDIT-----
Some trouble with automaticaly close some apps has solution in wipe/factory reset, wipe Dalvik and Cache and format SDCARD. I have not any error messages now.

thought this was the only one for the 10.1 " multipad .
so is there any posibility to have anything newer than 4.1.1 for this tablet? (even with small drawbacks)
did anyone manage to succesfully install some of the other rk3066 based roms on this multipad?
Have you checked if your processor is clocked at 1.6 ghz? Mine sits in 1.5GHz. It's not normal!
?
max cpu for this tablet is 1504mhz (1.5 ghz)
Hi! Don't know why my R doesn't recognize the USB drivers. I've tried with all drivers and nothing works. So I'm looking for an alternative way instead of using Odin to install CWM recovery and flash a custom ROM.
Is it possible?

Its being asked before. Just make an update file and flash it using stock recovery.
Or
Just install Kies-> reboot PC
Start task manager-> kill all KiES related styff
Connect usb to PC but this time put it in backward of PC i.e. where u have all power and usb options.
I think ur device will b located by PC.

Thanks, I will try the first method as the second method is not possible because post #1
I guess that I need to use a special update.zip to flash a CMW recovery or can I use whichever CMW zip?
BTW I did a search before posting and all thread I found were related to another devices, so I tried in this section. Apologizes anyway.

Sorry about the double post, but I don't know how to make an update file with CWM Recovery. I've found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721680
But I'm afraid I don't know how to apply it. AFAIK the CWM usually comes on a *.img format, at least is what I have here on my HD and I'm not sure if I can make it a flasheable update.zip.
I've tried to find a CWM Recovery in a update.zip also, but I've found nothing. Could someone please link me to another one?
You can try through heimdall (if you are comfortable with linux)
There are linux live CDs are available, which you can boot without installing. If you are comfortable with linux, then you can try flashing the recovery imagle through heimdall. I installed expylon CWM recovery this way from the Cyanogenmod wiki for installing CM 10.1 on SGR
wiki dot cyanogenmod dot org/w/Install_CM_for_i9103 (replace " dot " with ".")
Thanks rbanavara! That could work, I have no problem with linux
